This review is for MOST ELIGIBLE BILLIONAIRE by Annika Martin:
**5 stars!**

What a fantastic read! This was fun, it was sexy, and I didn’t want to put it down.

Henry is thee most perfect a-hole-ish jerk face. Handsome, wealthy, powerful, and... caring? CEO of the family business, he’s used to getting his way. And he’s not at all happy about the newest board member.

Vicky, who is hiding from her past, mistakenly gets labeled as a dog whisperer and thrown into a situation she’s not too thrilled about. Tired of being bullied and pushed around by rich, arrogant jerks, she decides to have some fun with her new position.

The banter between Henry and Vicky was very entertaining. The sparks were flying and the sexual tension was thick. Their attraction to each other couldn’t be denied. Never a dull moment when they were together.

And let’s not forget Smuckers. The story revolving around this cute, little fluffball made for a very amusing story. #SmuckU

This well-written RomCom gave me lots of laughs, plenty of angst, and a satisfying amount of sexy time. Enemies-to-Lovers is one of my favorite tropes to read and this one was perfectly done!

This review is for PUCKED by Helena Hunting
**4 Stars!**

This RomCom was a fun read. I laughed out loud plenty throughout the story. I also cringed and sometimes gasped at the corny and crass comments that came from Violet's mouth. And I most definitely fanned myself during the steamy scenes. If you can get past the overuse of certain words and not take this book too seriously, you should enjoy it.

Truth or Beard - Penny Read
I've read this before and while I enjoyed some of it, I didn't like it enough for a reread.
3 stars

Pucked - Helena Hunting
Fun(ny) sports romance. It's a little too long and too drawn out but I still enjoyed it a lot. I'll never look at super hero capes in quite the same way again.
4 stars

Most Eligible Billionaire - Annika Martin
Fun story but I didn't always believe the chemistry between the main characters
3.5 stars

Wrong - Jana Ashton
I understand it's supposed to be funny but it did not work for me. At first it only made me uncomfortable, but the ick factor grew and grew. The "hero" was a creepy alphahole. DNF at 25% (?).
1 star

Shopping for a Billionaire's Fiancee - Julia Kent
Crazy and slapstick-y, which doesn't really match my sense of humour. There are also lots of references to events from previous books. Bees and wasps are not the same thing.
2 stars

Sweet on the Greek - Talia Hibbert
Second reread and still so good
4 stars

Remedial Rocket Science - Susannah Nix
I'd read this before and didn't like it then so I didn't reread it.
2 stars

Miss Fix-It - Emma Hart
Fun romance. I liked the story and I liked the characters but didn't love it. There were also some formatting and editing issues.
3.5 stars

Screwmates - Kayti McGee
More fun. And another like it but don't love it.

Not hilarious

When you have to tell everyone its laugh out loud funny, it's likely not.

This box set never even came close to making me smile, let alone laugh.

Needs an editor, also.

Kindle Freebie for a Limited Time! I was so excited to jump on this while I had the chance, it gave me the perfect opportunity to check out a few authors I haven't read yet! This is an anthology that contains nine full length contemporary romances.

11/6/2023 Only read 5 out of 9, haven't gone back to read the others. Maybe I never will.

0% - Truth or Beard by Penny Reid
3 Stars - I have read this one before so I skipped it, might come back around and re-read later on. This series is so much fun with the Winston brothers, definitely give it a try.

17% - Pucked by Helena Hunting
2 Stars - I hate to say but, I really didn't enjoy this as much as everyone else. I found the heroine very annoying and immature. I really enjoyed Alex but near the end he was getting on my nerves too. There were some parts that were funny and the sex scenes weren't bad but besides that, eh.

Maybe in the future, I will give one of her other novels a try.

33% - Most Eligible Billionaire by Annika Martin
4 Stars I enjoyed this one a lot more than the previous story. It was ridiculous and believable enough that I was just along for the ride! I definitely will give Annika Martin another chance!

45% - Wrong by Jana Aston
1.5 Stars? 2 Stars? Idk - I would round up for the hot sex scenes, otherwise I did not like this one. The premise was just too much, I am not into the (skeevy) Dr/Patient thing, the heroine was annoying, the hero's alpha side outside of the bedroom didn't work for me. Their communication was subpar.

53% - Shopping for a Billionaire's Fiancee by Julia Kent
It looks like this is the 6th book in the Shopping for a Billionaire series (1-5 are also about Shannon and Declan).

62% - Sweet on the Greek by Talia Hibbert
4 Stars - I read this one previously and will mostly likely re-read. I love Talia Hibbert! *Now titled The Fake Boyfriend Fiasco*

70% - Remedial Rocket Science by Susanna Nix

Truth or Beard-Penny Reid
Jessica goes home to work and pay off her student loans before traveling the world, but runs into her long-time crush. Only, it's not her crush, it's his twin brother, who she can't stand. Right? I enjoyed reading this book with the unexpected characters and twists and turns. This is a smart story that had me reading it with a hillbilly accent in my head, considering it had all the phrases I grew up with coming from the mouths of my hillbilly relatives.

Pucked-Helena Hunting
So I started out irritated at Violet for letting her mom control her life but soon I was laughing out loud at Violet's antics. I loved Violet's attitude and social faux pas, and Alex was the sweetest hot guy ever!

Most Eligible Billionaire-Annika Martin
I love Annika Martin's writing, and this book was just as great as any of the others. The storyline was unique, and I was laughing as Annika's wit "...the buildings had a fairytale sheen to them. Will a unicorn soon bound out from the foliage? Perhaps!"

Vicky is the caretaker of her sister, and she'll do anything to protect her. Along with their new life, Vicky and Carly start taking care of Smuckers, the dog of an eccentric old lady in the neighborhood. When the old lady dies, she leaves her vast fortunes to the control of Smuckers. The dog. With Vicky as the proxy. And the old lady's son is not pleased. "I have to admit that Henry has a point. A toy dog whose head fur is frequently groomed to resemble a large marshmallow seems a very poor choice to run an international corporation."

I loved Vicky and thought she was amazing in the way she stood up for her sister and Smuckers. She stood up to Henry and didn't put up with his crap, even though she was trembling in her shoes. And yet, Henry was such a good guy when he let Vicky in and he was willing to take care of Vicky and Carly. Loved this story.

Wrong- Jana Aston
I noticed in the reviews there were some lovers and some haters, which kind of cracks me up. The book is called Wrong for a reason. It's got a little bit of a taboo naughtiness that makes you giggle a little and gasp in feigned shock while you keep reading. Luke is quite the dirty boy, and Sophie wants to learn all about him, but they do end up having a real connection that is swoony.

Shopping for a Billionaire's Fiance- Julia Kent
I've read a few of these books and this one was told from Declan's point of view. It was ok, but I found myself skimming a lot of it. Not my favorite one.

Sweet on the Greek- Talia Hibbert
First book by this author. This was the third book in the series and a side character from the previous book. I actually really connected with the characters and loved reading about them. Aria had a kind of RBF vibe going on, and Nik used that to get closer to her, which had some consequences for him.

Remedial Rocket Science
I initially struggled to like the male lead and even wondered when the hero would come into the story until about half way through when I realized he WAS the hero. He was very immature and I can't imagine the heroine actually wanting to spend time with him. Once we got through the halfway point, I settled in and started enjoying the story. Overall, I did enjoy the way the story ended and the interesting characters!

Miss Fix-It Emma Hart
Good story, liked Brantley, Kali, and the kids. There were some things that were introduced but then trailed off, like the idea that Kali was a female. From the way there story started, I thought it would be a bigger plot point. There were a couple of other teases that weren't explained away that I would have liked to know more about. However, overall I liked the story and it was pretty cute with the kids.

Screwmates- Kayti McGee
I did enjoy this this funny book more than I thought I would! Maddy is awkwardly funny and together with Marc they have quite the time trying to hook up. My newest pet peeve it's the word "Welp" which I discovered in this book. Who knew?

Sigh... I got this based on a group thinking it was the greatest thing since sliced bread and well, it was free. All of the heroines were young, and in most cases, immature. Most were first person, and after reading half a dozen first person present tales, I started mentally narrating my day like that.

So ok, let’s start at the top.
Truth or Beard. Heroine has wanderlust. She studied to become a teacher, and is living at home while teaching for the express purpose of paying off student loans. I guess the obvious question is why did you waste 4 years to educate yourself if you plan to spend your life living for the next adventure? H is reluctant to get involved because she’s going to leave. Note that he doesn’t actually have anything keeping him from going with her. Added drama involving a local motorcycle gang clutters up the story. If you blinked, you missed the clue as to who her real father is.

Pucked. Heroine spent the entire book looking for excuses to bail on the H. Also, it’s not nearly as entertaining as the movie by the same name

Wrong. Kinda creepy really. The H is an endocrinologist who volunteers at the student clinic to provide birth control, etc. The h is a student. Granted, she’s 6 months from graduating but... I think what bothered me the way he talked to her, and while it wasn’t BDSM strictly speaking, he was very controlling.

Shopping for a Billionaire’s Fiancée. Funny in a slapstick manner.

Sweet on the Greek. H is recently retired soccer..oh, excuse me, football player. It’s suggested that he’s Bi. I got less of an impression that he was bi than that he wasn’t particular. Heroine is a tattoo artist, possibly goth, and has issues. He pays her to be his mean girlfriend to discourage those who won’t take a hint. He has other intentions and eventually he says as much. She bolts, though eventually they get back together.

Miss Fix-it. The most mature h in the bunch. She’s a carpenter and takes on the job of doing some remodeling of his kids’ bedrooms. This one I actually liked.

Screw mates. Well I mean, it’s funny but the h is a self-absorbed socially awkward twit. She starts a comic based on her and the H’s attempts to move past mere roommate status, doesn’t even change their names, and is stunned that he’s upset when he finds out.

Most Eligible Billionaire. Angsty. Very angsty. Heroine finds herself the guardian of a dog who inherited controlling shares of a huge construction company and the late owner’s son is pissed... actually, everyone is. They conspire to screw with her. Unfortunately a) son falls for her, and b) the dirt they think they dug up on her turns out to be a would-be rapist whose family managed to buy his way out of jail. So...

Remedial Rocket Science. It wasn’t quite slapstick, but...yeah. As you find out, he was seeing a girl at the time he and the h hooked up. At the time the book starts, he’s seeing the old girlfriend’s sister. His best friend is engaged to the old girlfriend, and well... Over the course of the book, the sister breaks it off because she’s not really into guys in the first place, and well... H and h do finally get together for real.

Shopping for a Billionaire's Fiancee by Julia Kent
I loved getting the chance to see this circus from Declan's point of view. I'm not totally sure if that's what really goes on in a man's mind, but I kinda hope it is. Wow, it's pretty hot in there. For a man so used to being in complete control of everything that goes on around him, it's almost heartbreaking to watch Declan's beautiful, carefully planned proposal go right out the window even though I'm laughing so hard I can't breathe. In spite of their families' best (or is it worst?)
Remedial Rocket Science by Susannah Nix
It's quirky, witty, funny, a little bit sassy, and a whole lot awkward - just like the best nerd-girl heroines. Even though most of the hoops Melody and Jeremy had to jump through were of their own making, it was so much fun watching them figure out what they were doing with their lives and what to make of this "friendship" between them. Their first meeting might have been a one-night stand, but I really appreciated that their relationship developed out of a friendship. I loved that both Melody and Jeremy have their vulnerabilities, which they pretty much only show to each other. Jeremy is the moneyed playboy but in spite of making some colossally bad decisions he never comes across as a jerk. Melody has the stereotypical social awkwardness of the uber-smart, so I especially like it that this was never used as a reason to bully her. In fact, all of the people around her are strangely sweet and likeable. I say "strangely" because I don't imagine that's very typical for the section of LA society portrayed in this book. And those people around her? They're complex and fascinating and it makes me want to read more about them.

At least it was free.

I found this book thanks to a notification from Amazon about a new book by Penny Reid. I was initially disappointed, since it's just an anthology, and I'm not really into those. They tend to have one book I want along with a bunch of others I'm not all that interested in. But I noticed it included 4 books that I'd previously read and really enjoyed, so I thought it might be worth giving the other books a shot...maybe they were as good as the other 4.

Unfortunately, two of the remaining 5 books are mid-series (Sweet on the Greek is #3 in Talia Hibbert's "Just for Him" series, and Shopping for a Billionaire's Fiancee is #6 in Julia Kent's "Shopping for a Billionaire" series). Since very little sucks more than starting a series in the wrong order, those books were immediately out, too. And then, just to really confuse me, I figured out that Most Eligible Billionaire by Annika Martin has since been retitled Most Eligible Bastard, which I read a couple of years ago. So basically, that left me with just 2 new books to read.

Fortunately, I didn't spend a dime on this anthology, so all I'm really out is a little time and some hope for new reads. Of course, if you haven't read these books before (or don't mind reading totally out of series order), this would probably be an awesome read.

In reality-land, I didn't end up reading some of these. Some stories are just not for me for one or more reasons. You don't care, you just want to know what I loved. This kindle edition is free, and I recommend it even though I only finished two of the stories BECAUSE THEY WERE EXCEPTIONAL. You may like one or more of the others, too. So, my rating is for the following two stories.

"Most Eligible Billionaire" by Annika Martin was a total surprise, in so many great ways. Sometimes amusing, of course. But also surprisingly observant on such topics as poor versus stinking rich, victim-blaming, the dangers of assuming, and abusers. There is so much here, it's startling it isn't a novel. Am still in awe.

"Sweet on the Greek" by Talia Hibbert. If you're a fan of hers, this won't surprise you. If you're not, get a free story and then join us. So much man groveling. And he realllly needed to. And it's just funny and sweet, so Talia. Loved it.

This review is for Annika Martin's Most Eligible Billionaire only-I REALLY enjoyed reading this book. It's an enemies to lovers story you are going to love!! The story is interesting from beginning to end and for those people that feel it's important for an HEA, this is the book for you!! The slow burn drove me crazy but I enjoyed every moment of it!! I laughed out loud and there was tension that made me catch my breath and my heart beat faster, not to mention the very hot, pulse pounding sex!! I definitely recommend this book and I have to say, even with the HEA I would love for the story to keep going!! It's been mentioned and bears repeating, I want some Smuck U merchandise pronto!! (You will understand when you read the book.) I really hope this convinced you to one-click this book because it's worth every penny!! Enjoy!!

Most Eligible Billionaire by Annika Martin was a four-star rating. I’m a huge Annika Martin fan, and this first book in the Billionaires of Manhattan series was the book that guaranteed I’d be happy to dive into everything the author releases. It’s a story that had me giggling throughout, one I could not put down. Not only is it a great standalone, but it also starts a series I consider one of my favourites.

The books by Penny Reid, Annika Martin, and Susannah Nix were great--interesting stories, great characters, sometimes laugh-out-loud funny. I liked them so much that I got other books that they've written. The book by Emma Hart was also very good, even though I didn't find the premise that interesting personally and I had some issues with the behaviour of the 4-year-old twin children of the male lead and the way that behaviour was handled.

The other books in the series were not successful for me and, while I did try to read them, I ended up skipping over them altogether. In most cases, I just didn't like the main characters and I honestly didn't care what happened to them over the course of the story, and so didn't feel like spending the time finishing their books. Naturally, I'm sure there are many readers who will disagree with me, and that's totally fine with me!

Light reading

No plot spoilers
The book is a collection of full length stories by various authors.
Without going into an in depth analysis of each book, which is beyond my abilities at the moment (I didn't take notes as I read) I think it's fair to say that each story is independent of the others, that they are romances and most are well written. There was a slight issue with one of the books, with the formatting a bit awry but it soon resolved itself.
There was only one books that I couldn't get into, which was personal choice. I won't name it because I wouldn't want to influence the selection.
The majority are light hearted with a comedic element although they do touch on some sensitive topics.
If you are a fan of the genre I have no problem recommending the book collection.

Thank you BookSirens for the ARC.

I really should get better about reading covers... I just got excited and I didn't realize these were full novels. That's fine, more the merrier... I just thought I was getting some fun picky-bits (novellas).

I will review each book as I finish, so this rating is for the book itself. There aren't any authors on my NFW (no fecking way) list so I'll try each one.

Most (possibly all) are first person POV which I'm not a fan of (I'm a book reading voyeur). I don't like being told what I'm thinking or what I'm doing. It's irrational, I'm aware. But here we are. This is especially the case when the character eats or drinks something I detest... it makes me wildly and illogically mad at myself...

I may have peeked a present tense in there as well... God help me. 🙏

So very uneven. I liked some of these stories so much and disliked others. There was something...interesting about forcing myself to read authors that I hadn't read before and just plunge in. However, some of them just wore me out. I think only 1 of the authors I hadn't read before was interesting enough for me to try another of their titles. Also, Ms. Hart needs a copy editor and some of the themes just weren't my thing. Many of the women were strong characters and I mostly liked spending time with them.

I loved it! I love RomCom and these couldn’t have been funnier! These weren’t “Ha-Ha!” but, a lot of smirk or else the characters were doing something you’d never expect! Most of them you got in the Authors head and learned why they were thinking such a way! All nine of them I loved and I couldn’t tell you which I liked best! I would just recommend picking up this book and having an enjoyable time! I received this free book as I read one of the authors! Now, I will be reDing all of these nine writers!
