She’s the last woman on earth I’d marry….again. Yet here I am. Saying my vows. Again. To save an alpaca. At least, that’s my story. But the truth might be a little more complicated. I didn’t want to let her go the first time. But now I have a second chance to win over my wife. We’re older. Wiser. And hornier. This time, I won’t fail.
Hitched is a red hot, enemies-to-lovers laugh-a-palooza featuring a girl in need of a marriage of convenience and a man in need of a cold shower to keep from falling for his fake wife. They say opposites attract, but with Blake and Hope, they also combust...
Before she became a USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling romantic comedy author, she was a young military spouse who got into writing as self-therapy. That happened around the time she discovered reading romance novels, and the two eventually merged into a career. Today, she has more than 30 knee-slapping Pippa Grant titles and nine published under the name Jamie Farrell.
When she’s not writing romantic comedies, she’s fumbling through being a mom, wife, and mountain woman, and sometimes tries to find hobbies. Her crowning achievement? Having impeccable timing for telling stories that will make people snort beverages out of their noses. Consider yourself warned.
Who gets married just for an alpaca anyway!?! 🦙I giggled when I read that line in the book because I asked myself who would read (and love) a book about a marriage of convenience to save an alpaca. The answer is me. I adored this book and all its silliness.
We met Hope in the previous books and she runs an animal sanctuary in the Happy Cat town. Due to her grandmother's passing, the will dictates the first grandchild to get married will inherit her entire estate including the animals that Hope is currently taking care of. In particular there is one extra special alpaca named Chewpaca aka Chewy who is an alpaca stud and basically is in very very high demand for his services. 😉 Hope doesn't care about the money and just wants Chewy to be safe and happy in her farm and even got an alpaca friend for Chewy named Too-pac because alpacas can die from loneliness. In order to keep Chewpaca safe from her money hungry cousin, she begs Blake to marry her as a last resort.
Hope thinks she doesn't believe in love given her dysfunctional family and instead puts all her affections to animals. I felt so bad for Hope reading about her upbringing and how much self doubt she faces about herself despite how clearly wonderful she is. She is more than capable of love just based on all the sacrifices she makes for the animals for her farm. I am glad Blake recognizes this from the very beginning and strives to show her that she is more than enough.
Oh Blake, we all need a Blake as our alpha alpaca in our lives. Blake may have grown up in a working class family (as Hope's parents vehemently pointed out) but it's clear he grew up in such a loving family. Blake's brothers are the heroes of the other books in the series and it is clear they are all just grounded individuals. While Hope fears she doesn't or isn't capable of love, Blake is more than willing to show her and teach her. Marriage of convenience or not, Blake made a vow to protect Hope and his family and he never broke that promise. He is truly the alpha alpaca that Hope never knew she needed.
The premise may be a little silly but the book underlies the importance of not only romantic love but love for animals and family as well. It will definitely put a smile on your face. Plus my favorite trash Panda aka raccoon aka best scene stealer George Cooney makes many appearances! ❤️
I know I say this after every book in the series but I really, really love Happy Cat. That town is seriously crazy in all the best of ways. I can't even think about the series without getting a big cheesy grin on my face.
And the chemistry between Hope and Blake has been simmering in the background of the previous books. And I have been dying to find out why there was so much animosity between them. And I can honestly say I didn't see that coming.
Hope is such a sweetheart and I have been a huge fan of hers forever. Her anxiety over her affect on electrical appliances and her concern for all the Happy Cats furred citizens made her my hero.
But as much as I liked her I really loved Blake too. For all the snark between him and Hope he always came running to her rescue. He was such an awesome leading man. And when his alpha alpaca came out I did get a little swoony. I would have liked to see a little more of his vines and tasting room but it was far from necessary to the story.
I personally didn't find this one as funny as the previous books but I did get a few laugh out loud moments and the emotion felt a little deeper. And the little teases for Clint and cupcake have me dying for the next book in the series. As much as for them as for the sneak peeks into everyone else's HEA's.
Another laughed out loud hilarious trip to Happy Cat, the home of our favorite book characters, may they be human or of the four legged animal variety. Hitched is book 3 in the series, however can be read as a standalone. In Hitched, Hope St. Clair finds herself in a desperate need of husband to save her rescue alpaca from becoming her cousin’s property. Blake, who has bern working on getting his winery off the ground and is in need of liquor license for his tasting room, reluctantly agrees to marry Hope, to help her out. As with all Happy Cat books we get a hilarious inside into a small town life and shenanigans of well meaning busybodies; we visit with beloved animal characters we met in previous stories and catch up on our favorite couples from Happy Cat. Both Blake and Hope have been harboring feelings for each other since high school but circumstances were always in the way of their possible future together. Will this time be different? Will the marriage of convenience finally open their eyes and hearts and give way to happily ever after?
What a fun and captivating story! I’m a sucker for the marriage before love trope so when I saw the blurb for this one, I knew I had to read it. From the very beginning, I was hooked.
Grant and Valente gave us so much to sink our teeth into. The humor had me laughing out loud and eager to see what in the world would happen next. The characters were incredibly endearing. I felt for them, I rooted for them, and I fell in love with them. The banter created some great tension and the romance was sweet. The drama and mystery infused throughout added even more excitement to the story.
I discovered early on that this book is part of a series. I hadn’t realized before reading this one. The story was presented in a way that I had no problem reading this one first but it did make me interested in going back and starting from the beginning. I loved all of these characters and I’m intrigued to see how their stories began.
Giggle, chortle, snort, snicker, guffaw, grin, laugh out loud. You'll do all this and more while reading this book. And swoon! OMGee, for all the frolicking fun and incendiary chemistry, this book offers hit after hit to the heart! Once again I’m in awe of the kind of minds that can deliver such unique hilarity and colorful creativity that, with no effort at all, captivate the reader while still delivering an enticing, endearing story that touches the heart.
This time we get the story of the third O'Dell brother, Blake, and animal sanctuary owner, Hope St. Claire. From the previous books, we were lead to believe that Blake and Hope utterly despise each other, even though he's the one who charges in with his trusty toolbox to fix electrical issues when Hope fries the circuits of her latest appliance casualty. But fair warning, all is not as it appears with these two, and they have a major secret they’ve been keeping from everyone for years.
Hope needs to get married yesterday in order to save her beloved alpaca from her money-hungry cousin and, after exhausting all other possibilities, gets Blake to agree to marry her. But her cousin, who really wants the cash Chewpaca's stud services will bring, hires a PI to watch Blake and Hope 24/7 to prove the marriage is fake. And while Hope is convinced she's a failure where love is concerned, Blake seizes the opportunity to rectify Hope's hopeless view of love and make her his, once and for all. It certainly doesn’t hurt Blake's plan with the mandatory displays of affection necessary to convince prying eyes that the marriage is legit.
Y'all, this town and these people are ridiculously funny but so loveable and enchanting that I want to move to Happy Cat and become an honorary O'Dell. There are just enough quirks to make it charming, and if there were any possibility for calm or boring, the critter menagerie makes that all but impossible. Between our favorite raccoon and his family, the delightfully wacky secondary characters, and an authentic, captivating and loveable hero and heroine, there's never a dull moment on Blake and Hope's journey to forever.
With impeccably timed comedy gold, perfectly flawed, engaging characters and just-right touches of steam and emotion, you’ll fall in love with all things Happy Cat and the O'Dell family. These characters and their story will touch your heart, tickle your funny bone and fill your soul, so get your copy and escape to Happy Cat today!
*I read an early edition of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide feedback and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source.
This couple is no exception. I was really looking forward to this story because the characters were always bickering and she has a penchant for electronics to go mashed potato around her. And she has a farm to care for animals! I could not deprive myself from enjoying this funny tale. And I loved every scene and dialogue!
I wasn't expecting the baggage they are both carrying and how it impacts their relationship. It adds so much bittersweet meaning to how they are together. Now, Blake and Hope are married for nurturing purposes only, to save an alpaca from breeding slavery!
The fun is everywhere from his secret plans to win her over to all sorts of animals rampaging around in all their innocent, destructive glory.
The bingo night is priceless, the conspiracy to keep the animals safe is just pure magic of wit, and the chemistry between these lovable characters is the envy of bunnies. Hot!
Hope is starving for love but dealing with trust issues. It made me want to hug her as much as live with her in that amazing animal shelter she runs. And Blake is so trustworthy and hot and good. I fell in love with him!
So a mission to believe in the future mixes with rescue animals, hilarious dialogues, and side characters that feel alive and adorable. The cute couple faces a surprising danger at the end when they have to fight in film-like style for all the things they love. I absolutely loved the insane fun and the cuteness of their actions. The epilogue is one laugh after another in the middle of neighbourly support and quirkiness. This series is the best!
You can't imagine how impatient I am for the next next story! 💔
You guys, August was a crappy month and I so needed the gut busting, belly shaking laughs while reading Hitched.
From the very first page, I couldn’t help but root for Hope and Blake and their animal menagerie to find their happily ever after. Seriously, who wouldn’t want these Happy Cat life-long residents to find love in each other—again. Yep, they’ve been married before—for about 24 hours—and neither forgot what it felt like to be loved by the other.
Even if they acted like they hated each other. Immensely.
But as the saying goes, it’s a fine line between love and hate.
And Blake and Hope are balancing precariously without a net.
As are the alpacas, Chewpaca and Too-Pac. Especially Chewpaca, who’s stud fees could rake in the money. Serious money.
But unlike her cousin, Kyle, Hope’s not in it for the money. Nope, she’s in it for the health and welfare of her animals—Chewpaca included. Because animals give love freely, without strings or judgement. And Hope needs more love and less judgement in her life.
And Blake is just in it for the love of a good woman. Hope, to be exact. And he’s just the man to prove to her that she’s loved and can love back.
I didn’t want to put Hitched down until I read the very last word. I absolutely loved my time spent with Blake, Hope and the rest of the crazy crew from Happy Cat. I laughed (a lot), swooned, cheered, and fanned myself a few times with all that heat between Blake and Hope. And I can’t wait to return to this crowd for the next one—Humbugged which is Clint and the cupcake lady’s story! ~ Missy, 5 stars
Hitched us book three in the Happy Cat series. It can be read as a standalone. I read the second one but never got around to reading the first one. I loved this one. The story flows great. It's written by two authors but I couldn't tell because the story line runs smoothly. Hope is Blake act like they don't like each other but Blake is who Hope calls when she needs help. These two were cute. Hope's a little crazy but in a sweet funny way. The whole town is a little crazy and fun. This one is a good romantic comedy read.
I read the previous two books in the Happy Cat series by Lili Valente and Pippa Grant, and I enjoyed them both. These two authors are fantastic together! Their writing styles blended effortlessly, transitioning seamlessly between the two of them, and coming together perfectly. This story flowed so smoothly and consistently, I honestly couldn’t tell who was writing what, which is exactly what I want in a collaborative effort.
Hitched, the third book in the Happy Cat series, was just as charming as the first two books, Hosed and Hammered. A romantic comedy set in the wacky little Southern small town of Happy Cat, and it stars the town’s nice guy, Blake, as the hero, and the animal sanctuary owning, electronics-zapping, Hope, as the heroine. Part enemies-to-lovers, part second-chance romance, Blake and Hope enter into a fake marriage to save her animal sanctuary, and specifically her beloved, pedigreed alpaca, Chewpaca, from her scheming cousin’s clutches. Blake and Hope have a bit of history between them that they don’t discuss—and no one else in town knows about—and Blake isn’t about to squander this opportunity as he sets a plan in motion to turn his fake marriage to Hope into something real. There was plenty of action in this story thanks to an overly friendly, yoga-practicing private detective hired by Hope’s cousin to prove her marriage was a farce, the town gossip, Ruthie, hot on their tails for the dirt on their surprise nuptials, and a klutzy cupcake baking newcomer to town who is seriously giving Hope’s electronics zapping a run for its money. Of course this series wouldn’t be complete without the town’s resident trash panda, George Clooney—with his family in tow—popping up at the worst possible moments.
Hitched had an almost slap-stick-like quality to the comedic portion of the plot, I was audibly laughing and grinning the whole way through it. Completely endearing side characters, a hilariously entertaining plot with a bit of a suspenseful spin to it, and a sweet, steamy romance came together wonderfully into this amusing romantic comedy that kept me happily tapping my Kindle. I loved Blake and Hope, I loved all the characters in kooky little town, and I am looking forward to my next trip back to Happy Cat. Hitched by Pippa Grant and Lili Valente gets 4.5 smooches from me! ~Danielle Palumbo
I was drawn to this book by the unusual blurb. Love me a story of a second chance romance. Can’t say I’ve read enough stories where those second chances come because of an alpaca, to know if it’s a trope that’s a favourite of mine! But it sounded like a fun romantic comedy and so I gave it a go.
On reflection, this isn’t really a romantic comedy in the way I expected. It’s got laughs and humour (including hilarious, pun-tastic animal names) but it’s more romantic silliness and shenanigans than anything else. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but it didn’t really hit the mark with me. Racoons cavorting around town, goats going wild in the town square and hedgehogs in pockets - it felt too far fetched and silly for me in my current mood, I’m afraid.
That’s not to say the book was bad. It was eminently readable and it was never a chore to read a few chapters. It’s just that it didn’t grab me and make me desperately want to keep reading. As such, it took me a number of days to get through it despite it being an easy read with a writing style that’s entertaining.
As for the romance itself - I really liked Blake. He was adorable and he really did love Hope and want her to give them another chance. Their close proximity as they did the whole ‘fake husband and wife thing’ made for some enjoyable situations and I liked the clever reason that Hope and Blake had to play pretend to such an extent. Hope. Hmmm - she wasn’t really my favourite. I understood her reasons for giving up on love. Sort of. It just seemed a little like a knee-jerk reaction that carried on for far too long. But all’s well that ends well so everyone’s happy.
The little town this book is set in is called Happy Cat. Several of the other residents are already coupled up and they presumably got their stories earlier in the series that this book is a part of (which I think is called the Happy Cat series but I’m not sure!) It does stand alone but I think if I’d read the other books in the series before reading this one, I’d have a better appreciation for this particular story, the town, its quirks and crazy characters.
It didn’t rock my world but this was still a fun book that I would recommend for fans of the authors or for those following the Happy Cat series. 3 stars from me.
Oh, this story hit my heart in the best of ways! This series is freakin’ HILARIOUS yet the underlying warmth and love is right up there, tugging at all my emotions… Kyle and Hope had history and found themselves in the frenemies zone. When Hope needed a miracle though, Kyle stepped up and that paved the way to an alpaca and George Cooney-laden path to love that was simply, wonderfully, extraordinary…
Kyle is an O’Dell and he knows all about chaos yet Hope can’t escape her own family and the uncertainty they drilled in to her. She couldn’t make it work with anyone and failing with Kyle would break her. What Kyle did to support her, the woman he loves, was ‘knight in shining armor’ stuff for sure and won my heart too! The hilarity ran rampant, as it has throughout this series, and it was in fine form once again. With furry friends causing mayhem, and out and lout laughter on this side of the pages, there was steam and shenanigans and family galore. It was a trippy treat! ~Diane, 5 stars
Hitched by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente is the story of Blake O'Dell and Hope St. Claire. Blake and Hope had married to young it didn't last. Now in their present day Blake and Hope "Frenemy". Hope overseas a animal sanctuary which involves Chewpac and Alpaca who is very wanted for his stud service. Hope has someone who is trying to take this away from her and to fix it she has to get married ASAP. Blake has been burned by Hope and her craziness that leads to some adventures but he ends up stepping up to the plate to be her hero for this marriage and to maybe get the girl that he has never been able to fully walk away from.
THIS REVIEW IS 4 YEARS OLD JUST NEVER POSTED FOR SOME REASON…
Hmmmm...okay, so this book was a bust to say the least. I hated the female MC right off the bat-she was incredibly rude to Blake who was absolutely the nicest despite the situation they've been in for 4 years. I couldn't with her-she seemed like a spoiled brat who expected everything to go her way and when it didn't she became a bigger b*tch.... Didn't fit my definition of 'heroine' at all.
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
Yay, another visit to Happy Cat, another O'Dell brother and a funny and witty story to go along with it that includes previous animals of trash panda's, hedgehogs and now and Alpaca.
Hope has been in previous books and we have seen ho Hope distress things with her energy, but we have also seen how Blake and Hope are always arguing with each other and in this book we finally get to see the whole story.
Helping out Hope with a quick marriage in order that she can not only keep her farm, but also Hope's alpaca, Blake has a few conditions of his own. It is only after a talk with his brother Clint, that Blake decides that he is not going to let Hope run away from him a second time and does what he can to change her mind from a marriage of convenience with an expiry date to forever after.
We get lots of hi jinx, more sillyness from George Cooney, we see a very little from the hedgehogs, but mostly we get to see more of Chewbacca the alpaca who certainly has his own personality. Franky i really think that these animals are really helping in making these books a success and really add brilliant comedy.
We get to meet Blakes brother Clint in this book and what we can only imagine to be what is going to be his love intesrest in the cake lady who he has helped to save twice in this story. I really hope he gets a doozy of a story.
5 Star review of Hitched (Happy Cat #3) by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente I love the writing style of Pippa Grant and Lili Valente, I have no idea were one author stops and the other takes over such is their seamless story-telling. I have to say that when I read the blurb for this book I quickly put my hand up to read and review. It sounded so intriguing and is Blake O’Dell and Hope St. Clair’s story. Blake and Hope are total opposites and this makes for some laugh out loud moments throughout the book. Hitched is a great example of romantic comedy at it’s best; the romance is at times swoon worthy and there was also enough drama and quirkiness to make the story one that I couldn’t put down. Not to mention that the animals added another layer to the story. Hitched is a light hearted and entertaining read that will engage you and keep you riveted from the first to the last chapter. This was a great addition to the series and I cannot wait for more.
Pippa Grant and Lili Valente have brought us another wonderfully zany story from the town of Happy Cat. Blake and Hope’s story has some layers to it and that makes it so much more entertaining.
I had a soft spot for Hope from the first time I read about her. Between her devotion to animals to her quirky little problem of blowing up electronics all around her, she found a spot in my heart. Blake is the good guy that everyone wants for either themselves or for their friend. Together the two of them were just adorable.
This story entertained me so much with all of its humorous, heartfelt moments. Once again, the authors have given us a story that will have you page turning to get to the next laugh, next sigh or next cheer. 5 Stars #2OCCMS

Oh my. I love when a book can’t make you laugh hysterically and that’s what this book did. Hope and Blake were a match made in.... well, a match. Their banter with each other, the banter with all the other characters and animals. It was just a light hearted rom-com with a twist. I can’t wait to see what the next one brings. If it’s anything like all the other books in this series then I know I’m in for a treat. 4 stars #2OCCJD
Pippa Grant and Lili Valente have perfected the skill of introducing adorable animals as key cast members in wonderful romantic comedies. This is the third book in the series and we return to Happy Cat to see why Hope and Blake are enemies. (We met both characters in prior books, where they had a contentious relationship. While it’s not necessary to read the prior books to understand what is happening in this book, they are such fun books that introduce the great cast. So, I would recommend you do so!) In order to save her beloved alpaca, Chewbacca, Hope proposes to Blake to fulfill a request in her Grandmother's will. This sets off a chain of events that are both amusing but also heartwarming.
This is a true ensemble rom-com because part of the wonder of this book (and all the books in the series) is the fantastic and hilarious supporting cast. Blake’s brothers and their respective women, most of whom were introduced in the prior books, as well as the neighbors in Happy Cat add in laughs but also so much heart. I wish I lived anywhere near this town so I could visit the craziness. But the animals were always entangled in my favorite parts of the book. They caused the loudest chuckles. The hangry but brilliant raccoon, George Cooney, the baby goat whisperer, Chewbacca (yes, and baby goats!), the two little hedgehogs, and the humans who love them. A well rounded, hilarious book that made me smile from beginning to end. I didn’t want to leave Happy Cat but now, I’m just waiting to come back :o) I received an ARC and am leaving an unbiased review.
Hope doesn't have much hope for a happily ever after. She didn't have good examples in her own family. So she tries keeping Blake at arm's length, even as she wishes she was different. But Blake likes Hope just the way she is. He just has to wait till she figures out that they are right for each other.
In the meantime, there's a little mayhem with crazy, greedy relatives, prized alpacas, raccoons, and other animals in all shapes & sizes.
Fun, funny, 2nd chance romance. Quick and easy read, excellent choice if you need something a little less serious that still has some excellent and serious points about love and loving.
I read an advanced copy for an honest review. We first encounter Blake and Hope in the book Hitched, and their chemistry is "Shocking". Literally Hope shorts out everything electical and Blake grumbles and fixes it.
In Hitched, Hope needs to marry somone, anyone to keep her alpaca. Blake is at the BOTTOM of her list. They were secrectly married 4 years ago, and Hope annulled it. Why would he even say yes this time? Plus she has that "nullufying" electric products going on.
Blake agrees to help Hope (There is a fine line between hate and love and he might really be leaning towards the love). When they kiss, during theeir wedding, it's explosive...literally! (City all is blacked out).
This story is filled is the usual crazy characters and animals that we have grown to love as well as texts between the O'Dell brothers. It's also a story about learning to open your heart and stand up for yourself (and love and accept who you are). You will laugh outloud, while reading this book and love it's heartwarming ending.
I listened to this funny, romantic and hot book on Audible with my favorite male narrator, Jacob Morgan and the talented Virginia Rose =) I have listened and loved this series. Each books are stand alone, but are fun reading/listening in order. Hope lives at her deceased great aunt's farm. She has a famous and valuable alpaca named Chewbaca, she adores him and the other many interesting farm animals. Something comes up and she needs to get hitched asap. She desperately asks Blake and he agrees, with conditions. This is a funny, laugh out loud romance comedy with lots of beloved family pets, George Clooney the pet raccoon among others. The secondary characters are from previous books, and some new ones. This was such fun listening to, the storyline and the plot was really good and exciting, the love scenes were steamy, and omg the narrative!! I love it when these authors get together, their work is awesome!
DNF at 12% Just couldn't get into it. I feel like Pippa Grant's writing is sometimes a little silly for my tastes, bordering on unbelievable. I'm always so intrigued by her covers and plots though, so I may try out more of her books in the future!
Admittedly, I have several Pippa and Lili books on my kindle I have yet to read, but I am so glad that I was able to get a ARC of Hitched from them. Hitched blew me away and now I vow to read my other books in the next few months.
Hitched goes into my Laugh Out Loud category, they are right up there with Max Monroe and Emma Hart.
Going in, I didn't know this was a series about the O'Dell brothers. Again, now I have to read about his brothers even though I know spoilers. This story is about Blake and Hope, whom I am going to assume that everyone thinks they are sworn enemies and hate each other. But I found it funny that no one knows the truth. But what was plainly staring everyone in the face.
Our heroine finds herself in need of a husband, so she can save her alpaca from a money-hungry cousin, who will do anything to get what they want. Guess who agrees to be her husband? What they don't know is that someone is watching their every move. But Blake doesn't mind showing a lot of PDA, but is it all for show or is it real?
I found their romance genuinely flawed and honestly hilarious, there was never a dull moment. The entire cast is witty and captivating. I can't recommend this book enough. The romance with touch your heart and tickle that funny bone.
So go ahead and pick up Hitched.
