As Johan falls under the spell of the "Citizens for Justice" task force, Ellie must track down the real killer before Johan takes action that can never be undone...

Don't miss the spellbinding follow up to Behind Blue Eyes!

Duffy is one of my favourite crime thriller authors because I know her refreshingly funny approach to an otherwise dark genre will keep me hooked, all of her characters have the complexity that I look for in any kind of story. - Nia Ireland, The Most Sublime blog

I just finished the first in the series (Behind Blue Eyes) 2 days ago and moved straight onto this one. Felt so smug to already have it lined up cos I did NOT want to wait for what happened next. It's always a testament to how much I'm invested in a story if I read fast and move onto the next book immediately without putting another from my very long list to be read, in between.

I had read the author's Dark of Night (aka Glasgow Kiss) before and was very sad when it ended. It was one of those series which, when it ends, make you wonder what you will the void with now. Well, here it is!

Same descriptive writing style. Very easy to read and fast paced. In this second of the Stockholm Murders series, several characters from the first return - always nice to be familiar with them already when you start a new book. That said, the author does briefly summarise what happened in the first book (but that doesn't mean you shouldn't read the first book before this one).

I thought one of the reasons I like the Dark of Night series was because I'm very familiar with the Glasgow area, Glaswegians and culture/customs. Stockholm Murders is obviously set in Stockholm, Sweden which I know absolutely nothing about but the author does convey a good sense of it and some customs. And I could feel the cold!! And it felt MUCH colder than Glasgow at it's coldest and snowiest. It's actually tweaked my interest in Sweden, further than Abba.

Twists and turns with a very relatable protagonist, Ellie, trying to piece everything together. I love it when a little thing which seems so insignificant at the time, sticks in her mind but she doesn't know why ... until she works it out. I also liked the way characters debating the did she/didn't she question made me question if indeed the accused from the first book was actually innocent of most charges at least. Not at though.

I also like the author's technique of writing in the first person, the thoughts of the killer whilst explaining the how and they why, but still not conveying the WHO is thinking them. Again, lots of little clues that make you doubt all of the characters individually or even as a team and makes you relate back to what you know already ... and change your mind again when new information is revealed. This is one the reasons this author has become a favourite of mine. With most psycho thrillers/mysteries, I always work out who way in advance of the actual reveal. With CS Duffy I always think I have until I'm proven wrong, then I think I have again, then I'm proven wrong again and it's not until about 80% of the way through that I can possibly see it coming but by then I'm already questioning whether I've got it wrong again! It's like being in a tumble drier on a rollercoaster speeding to a location you've never been and with no Satnav. Then a cliffhanger!!!

I'm sad again now that I've finished this second book, especially with THAT ENDING!!!! The author has said she is currently writing Book 3 and it should be available by Sept 2019. Thank Goodness!! But what do I read between now and then?!

Excellent read, the book follows Ellie as she struggles to solve more murders and cope with the Stockholm winter. There are a few twists and in the background is Mia's disappearance. The ending is unexpected and leaves you on the edge of the cliff!

.
Bloody cliffhangers! 😩
.
I have just finished the second book in the Stockholm Murders series by @csduffywriter and they were brilliant! .
In book 1, we follow Ellie who has given up her life to move to Sweden to be with the love of her life, Johan. While on a trip to a private island to meet his friends, Ellie happens upon the skeletal remains of her boyfriends ex! With all the signs pointing to Johan being the killer, Ellie is determined to prove her boyfriends innocence...
.
In book 2, we're back with Ellie in Sweden when she discovers a body (poor Ellie!!) but this is no normal murder scene.. this person is displayed like a statue... Ellie puts on her detective hat again as she tries to find out who is behind the murders... is it someone she already knows!?
