Sakuishi has a wide variety of interests which include baseball (he is a huge Chunichi Dragons fan), martial arts, MMA, and music (he is a huge Red Hot Chili Peppers fan).
Each of these has become the basis for his most popular series (baseball in Stopper Busujima, fighting in Bakaichi, and music in Beck).
His series also often include character cameos from his past works; one of the newspaper reporters in Beck is actually from Stopper Busujima and so on. Additionally, he's a big fan of Sangokushi (Romance of the Three Kingdoms) with an altered version of that story appearing in Beck written by "Christy Sakuishi".
In Beck he included many famous people in background crowds. These included many popular musicians, characters from Happy Sangokushi and MMA legends Royce Gracie and Kazushi Sakuraba.

Amazing

Honestly I didn't thought that this manga was so cool. I watched the anime in the beginning because didn't have anything thing else on my watch list. But as soon as I started I couldn't stop it. Anime wasn't enough and here I am reading such an amazing manga. Highly recommend it.

Je commençais un peu à me lasser de cette tournée aux Etats-Unis. J'avoue que le fait de voir les quatre garçons galérer un max, ne rien comprendre à ce qu'il se passe parce qu'ils ne parlent pas un mot d'anglais… On tournait un peu en rond, même si avec le recul, on voit qu'ils ont aussi compris ce que être connu mondialement signifiait. Il ne suffit pas d'être bon. Il y a des milliers de groupes bons, non, il faut avoir quelque chose en plus. Et sans Ryu… Beck n'est pas complet.

Avec ce tome treize, cependant, et fort heureusement, on arrive enfin au retour du leader du groupe. Enfin, leader… vu son attitude, il a encore des progrès à faire, mais il est jeune, tout comme le groupe et j'espère que cette séparation aura un retour positif. Ryu a cette attitude désinvolte qui m'agace, car on a l'impression qu'il se moque de tout, et en même temps, il a de l'ambition et du coeur. C'est une girouette, mais qui est tellement bon qu'on arrive à presque lui pardonner.

Son retour donne enfin un réel regain d'intérêt pour moi. On y voit non seulement un nouveau souffle avec les garçons qui reprennent du poil de la bête, mais aussi une prise de conscience. Ils savent qu'ils vont devoir faire beaucoup plus d'efforts pour arriver à réaliser leur rêve. Et même si ce concert est graphiquement intense, j'ai du mal à voir une percée tout de suite pour Beck. Les cinq amis ont encore besoin de mûrir et surtout de continuer à s'apprivoiser. Mais c'est ce qui est le plus intéressant à voir, donc c'est parfait.

Un petit clin d'oeil à John, qui fait une apparition que j'ai beaucoup aimé dans ce tome treize. le vieil homme a une aura vraiment spécial contrairement à son neveu. Et ici, il donne un sacré coup de pouce à Ryu. J'espère qu'il fera d'autres apparitions car la relation entre ces deux-là est vraiment top.
