Installed Intelligence (I.I.) is a digital backup of a human mind that can think and act of its own accord. Legally and practically, they cannot be activated until after their organic counterpart—their body—has died.”
This book is very fresh with new outlook that makes you think about the real life around you. Installed Intelligence’s situation in society and its evolution has taken an unprecedented and impressive jump. Mind sharing is legal and is a common practice. The power they have now, the unrest between two factions, the pro humans and the II brings out terrible consequences and terrorist strand. This premise hooked me from the start, a thought provoking situation that can become a reality in our future. It’s full of chills, thrills, and surprises. The characters are enthralling, so realistic to the point that you trust and believe them, like what happens to the protagonist. The pace is fast and bruising. The plot is very entertaining, with mystery and intrigue, that hooks you up till the end, which is totally unexpected! I’m really looking forward to read Deleted #3, and know the outcome!

I was so impressed by this novel and its author. I rarely give five-star reviews, but this one demanded it from me. From the very first, it grabbed my attention, retained it and wouldn't let me go.
I found that I was trying to discern throughout the entire book who exactly was behind all the nefarious plotting, and every time I thought I had it, I was proved wrong. That, in my opinion, is one of the hallmarks of a great author, to keep the reader guessing until the very end. Job well done, indeed. Very intelligently told, and has the added benefit of making a reader believe, for a bit anyway, that they are smarter about things than they were prior to reading the book.
If you enjoy the subject matter about artificial intelligence and the plight of the common man vs. machine, then this one is definitely for you to try. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
It truly reminded me of William Gibson's 'Sprawl Series' including Neuromancer, Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive. William Gibson coined the term 'Cyberpunk' and this series 'Installed Intelligence' by Phoenix Ward fits this genre precisely bang on.

Though Corrupted by Phoenix Ward is book 2 in the Installed Intelligence series, it is a stand-alone thriller with enough backfill to make the story complete. I do, though, recommend reading the first (Installed) because it is so compelling.

Detective Beth Dylan is called to a double homicide, two people but one body. As she tries to solve the case, she becomes the pivotal figure in the war between humans and the I.I. (installed intelligence).

The pace is quick, the characters are fleshed out, the cyber concepts are original, and the action will keep you turning the pages. Can Beth figure out who is friend or foe? Will she save the humans before the I.I.s win the war?

I am looking to reading the next book in the series.

I'm not a huge science fiction fan, so reading this was a bit out of my comfort zone but I'm happy to have done it. I have been told this is cyberpunk or technothriller, so I suppose that 's true as I'm not really familiar with the terminology. It took a bit of getting into it, but once I got there the story took off like a train, it was full of action, things just kept happening 1 after the other. It was really exciting to discover this dim future and the dangers of unpremeditated use of scientific novelties. If you just think a little bit about it, this story is really scary!
We meet Beth, a policewoman in the future, who has to deal with what looks like an ordinary murder/suicide. Soon enough her investigation spirals into a terrorism case. Off course there are many cool innovations like a hyperloop between cities that travels at 400 m/ph. There are many new designer drugs like Fog that contains not only chemical compounds but also bits of computercodes that interfere directly with the brainstem. Infants get neural implants at birth so the brain grows around them and everybody has totally connectivity.
I will surely read more books in this series if they come my way. And yeah I recommend this book to non-sf fans.
I received a free ARC and this is my honest review.
