Shifters and Glyphs was an action packed adventure that was filled with friendship, laughter and love. If you're not familiar with this series, you definitely need to start out with the first book Wolves and Roses. You can read my review of that book here. Each book flowed into the next and the storytelling was very creative. The characters were living out their lives according to their fairy tale theme and it was a mix of shifters, wizards, fairies and other creatures too. So if you adore paranormal romance, definitely check this series out.

Knox gently rests his palm against my cheek. “I’m not leaving you. I’m not losing you.” All the intensity in the world shines in his ice-blue eyes.

If it's been a while since you have read Wolves and Roses, this book catches you up and then some. I felt like I easily stepped back into this world and it contained all of the knowledge from the previous book. Life has changed so much since we first met them. Bryar and her best friend Elle were getting ready to start their senior year in a school for magical beings. Knox became Byrar's mate and while it seemed like there were feelings between their two best friends, Alec and Elle, they still claim to be just friends and I loved that they play video games together lol. I loved their little group of four, they were as thick as thieves and I couldn't wait to see what awaited them!

Leaning in, Knox brushes the barest kiss across my lips. “You’re my mate, Bry. My life. My soul. I love you.”

As more pieces of the puzzle started to fit together it became easier to see the bigger picture. While I guessed how a lot of things played out, I was shocked by the hugest twist of all. I definitely didn't see that one coming! And it was so much fun getting answers to so many answers of the questions I had. Even some that have been lingering from book one! The only thing I missed was hearing Knox's pov. I loved listening to his chapters in the first book, he was beyond intoxicating, and I was secretly wishing to hear his voice again. If there's ever a novella released in his voice I'd completely devour it! So if you enjoy paranormal romance that has silly humor, a snarky heroine, a wonderful hero and two fabulous best friends then definitely check this one out!

Shifters and Glyphs is the second installment in author Christina Bauer's Fairy Tales of the Magicorum series. If you haven't yet read this series, please be patient while I summarize. In this series, Protagonist Bryar Rose belongs to a group known as the Magicorum. Each of the three Magicorum groups (shifters, fae, witches/warlocks) follow a fairy tale type life template. For example; Bryar Rose's life template was supposed to be that of Sleeping Beauty.

Wow what a book, Christina Bauer has created another series which has become a must buy for me. This book blew me a away with all our heroes in it, but this was definitely Bryer Rose and Knox’s story. One I never saw coming, I thought this would be centred on her trek into schooling west Lake Prep, but that was a small part.
This book is centred around the Autumn equinox and tracking down the fountain of magic to strengthen the magic, as it is in danger of dying out. This is an action packed adventured and Bryer learning to let herself love and accept love from Knox. I not going to tell you anymore about this book except to say  I was blown away and this series get better with every book. Christine Bauer has such an incredible imagination that has me addicted to her storytelling.

Another great installment to this great paranormal series. Bry is still trying to figure out her powers after book one but the one thing she knows is that Knox is her mate. They still have to find the fountain while started at the new school she had been dying to go to. Her human life is almost within reach when life throws her a massive curveball that comes with lots of surprises as well as danger. Can they figure it all out before the bad guys? Great writing that will really pull you into the story. Perfect for fans of the genre. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

Wow! Why has this book not taken off! Honestly? Anyone? Oh, okay. I really enjoyed this indie novel, and am so excited to read it as I have been waiting since the first one came out, which I had gotten as a birthday present. The characters have developed even more! This is absolutely amazing since it has been said Elle and Alec are gonna get a book based around them next! Yay! Yas to all of my babies! I love how Bryar’s powers are explained and her past has been revealed! This novel had me gripping my seat in fear and excitement at pretty much every turn!

I enjoyed immensely how the plot was (obviously) centred around Bryar Rose and Knox finding the fountain together (or not), but the book wasn’t only on them, it was left open to explore further pathways and subplots. In some areas, I thought that the characters were slightly dull but that was fixed whenever they did something huge.

I recommend this to all readers of fantasy and readers of Cassandra Clare novels. They will love the world in which Shifters and Glyphs are set and won’t be able to stop thinking about what their fairy-tale template may be. I know I couldn’t! I have already begged my ShadowHunter enthusiast friends (the books, not the show) to read Wolves and Roses so they are prepared for the release!

Bryar Rose is now free from her imprisonment by her Aunties, and excited to finally be doing normal teenager things, such as going to school with her boyfriend and mate, Knox, best friend Elle and Knox's best friend, Alec. Just because it's a school for the magicorum means nothing, it's still school. That is until she starts remembering her dreams, read nightmares, in which she is being visited by the Shadowvin Tithe and Slythe as well as their creepy friend, The Void, who keeps screaming about his fountain. Enter in Knox becoming severely unwell and his guardian's thoughts that it is the fact Bry and Knox are mates and things aren't exactly going to plan for Bryar. Everything keeps leading back to the fountain of magic, so Bryar sets off on a journey and a half to try and locate what she needs in order to FIND said fountain, meeting colourful characters along the way and learning that the term family isn't always reserved for those who's blood you share. Will she find the fountain in time to stop Knox's downward spiral towards death?

So this is the second book I've read by Bauer, the first being Angelbound, I went into that series having read none of the other books and fared pretty well. The same can be said for this one. This is actually book 2 in Bauer's Fairy Tales of the Magicorum series and I can't say that I was left wondering about many things having not read the first instalment. Obviously I only have a brief idea of what happened with Bryar Rose's Aunties and the imprisonment and all that, but it didn't impact my ability to follow the story happening in this book.

I absolutely LOVED the idea of the fairy tale life templates, I also love that they aren't just talking about Cinderella and the rest of the fairy tale princesses we all know and love, it's also talking about Ursula and the badies that we just love to hate. So that is a really awesome idea and I kind of wish it was explored more in this story, or at some point in the near future, I'd just love a bit more spotlight put on this.

The story itself was enjoyable enough, but I felt like the pacing was a bit off, it just seemed to drag a lot to me. It took me way longer to finish than it should and I'm still not sure why. I was surprised when we find out about the fountain of magic, I didn't see that coming, so that was definitely a plus here. I thought I had it figured out then NOPE, WRONG! So that was really awesome.

The characters were well rounded and I did enjoy them, though Bryar irked me terribly. She was a likeable enough character, it just really started to piss me off that she constantly refers to: Knox being her mate - we get it, we know, it's been told to us already, her unshreddable clothes - how many times to we have to be told that she has an unshreddable outfit made by the fae that means her clothes don't rip and die when she shifts, in the final quarter of the book constantly being reminded that the threads of magic are red for witch/warlock, gold for shifter and silver for fae - MY GOD WOMAN I GET IT, IT WAS EXPLAINED ALREADY, PLEASE STOP! and her wolf speaking and acting like a 2 year old a lot of the time. Don't get me wrong, I loved the character of Bry's wolf, I just felt it extremely childlike in execution? Like she's not some badarse, brutal, strong machine, she's a whiney 2 year old - this just pissed me off for some reason. I felt sorry for Bry's wolf because of this. I feel like she should've been given a stronger voice.

I found sometimes when we were about to find out something (like Knox's life template) the dialogue just went on and on and on and on and on and on and on...then we don't find out anyway? It just seemed like so much of the dialogue was used to flesh out the story when it really wasn't imperative to the story itself.

I really do enjoy the way Bauer writes for the most part, I just feel that this story could have maybe had another round of editing to polish it up to an unparalleled shine. I enjoy the way that she writes her characters and makes them 'real' and well developed as when this doesn't happen, a story can fall incredibly flat.

I feel like I'm in the minority with this book in regards to ratings and opinion (though I have seen someone else who is annoyed with the repetitiveness) and I'm okay with that, I'm glad that there are so many people out there who truly enjoyed the hell out of this book, I wish I was one of you. I will definitely continue with this author, and I will check out the other books in this series even if I will be subjected to repeats in regards to my annoyances listed above. I enjoy the world that Bauer has created, the fairy tale life templates are an absolute stroke of genius, and I do enjoy these characters. I'm looking forward to see where they go.

Desde Wolves and Roses, não via a hora de ler Shifters and Glyphs. Moonlight and Midtown deu para matar saudades dos personagens, mas não aplacou a curiosidade em saber como tudo iria acabar para Bryar Rose.

Shifters and Glyphs tem um ritmo um pouco mais lento que o primeiro livro, mas nem por isso deixa de ser bom. A escrita da Christina é bem fluída e envolvente. Fora que temos a personalidade de Bryar Rose com seus comentários maravilhosos, fazendo com que a leitura ficasse mais proveitosa ainda.

Bryar continua a mesma personagem que conheci: dedicada, leal, resiliente, e sempre rindo na cara do perigo. Agora ela está disposta a fazer os sacrifícios necessários para salvar a vida de Elle, Knox, Alec e todo o Magicorum. OK que ela fez umas burradas, mas quem nunca num livro YA ne nom minha gente? Mas o diferencial é que Bry sabe quando erra e necessita de ajuda.

Um dos pontos fortes da série e que mais gosto é a amizade entre Bryar e Elle. As duas podem contar uma com a outra para tudo. Senti falta de uma abordagem maior como foi feito em Wolves and Roses, Isso se deve ao fato que Elle irá estrelar sua própria história, como vou explicar mais na frente. Entretanto, das vezes que estavam juntas percebemos o quão preciosa é a amizade entre elas.

A relação entre Bryar e Knox é a coisa mais fofa do mundo, regada a companheirismo e respeito. Desde o começo, o alpha dos metamorfos sempre respeitou as decisões de Bryar, concordando ou não. Ambos sentam e conversam como pessoas civilizadas, expondo suas opiniões e ouvindo um ao outro. E é assim que se faz um casal com relação saudável, autores.

Durante os primeiros capítulos, Bryar comenta sobre alguns acontecimentos que se passaram tanto em Wolves and Roses quanto Moonlight and Midtown. Algumas pessoas não curtiram muito, mas eu achei bem legal. Confesso que alguns detalhes eu não lembrava e foi bom a autora usar esse artifício.

Uma única reclamação é a falta da narração do Knox. Tivemos no primeiro livro e eu me acabava de rir com os papos dele com o lobo interno. Infelizmente não teve narração dele aqui #triste, mas as conversas entre Bryar e sua loba são tão engraçadas quanto Knox e o dele. Quando terminei a leitura, entendi o motivo de somente a narração de Bryar, já que o ápice do livro é completamente focado nela.

Eu já estava bem tristinha em ter que me despedir dessa galera toda, mas eis que surge uma luz no fim do túnel. Na resenha do primeiro livro, comentei que os personagens vivem o roteiro de algum conto de fadas. No caso de Bryar Rose, o dela era o da Bela Adormecida. Shifters and Glyphs é o livro que fecha esse arco do roteiro da Bela Adormecida e assim, a história focada em Bryar Rose.

O próximo roteiro a ser explorado é o da Cinderela, vivido por Elle. Estou bem ansiosa porque ela é uma personagem maravilhosa e eu quero ver meu ship lindo - Elle e Alec - felizes para sempre! Para esse arco, temos Fairies And Frosting (conto), Slippers And Thieves e Bandits and Ball Gowns. Pesquisando mais sobre a série, descobri que depois desse arco da Cinderela, teremos o roteiro da Branca de Neve, com Apples and Arsenic e Evil Queens and Goblin Kings. Nem preciso dizer que estou soltando foguetes de felicidade.

Quando comecei a ler essa série, era para preencher o vazio deixado por Crônicas Lunares. Agora, quando acabar, ela vai ser mais uma a deixar um vazio. Ainda bem que falta muito tempo para isso. Espero que ela chegue em terras tupiniquins, porque é uma indicação certa para todos aqueles que curtem releituras de contos de fadas.

I previously reviewed the first book Wolves and Roses and the following novella Moonlight and Midtown which I highly recommend as this is a series I really enjoy and look forward to continuing on in but even more the author is one of my auto-buy authors!

Bry is about to start school, real school for the first time and it's all she has dreamed of for so long, but the dreams she has had her whole life of pyramids and papyri have turned much darker. It should be enough to worry about with three different types of magic to work on and an inner wolf who wants to chomp on a 1/3 of your classmates but that's not enough pressure for Bry. As the equinox approaches and those she love most seem to be in danger Bry must step away from her dream of school life and solve the mystery of her life and the attraction to the pyramids or face untold consequences for herself and the world.

So Bry has her un-shredable outfit to help ease her modesty should she have to shift and her best friend, her mate, and her newest friend all with her in this endeavor that is school. And the search for the fountain of course. Things should go well. But Knox has been looking rather unwell as of late and the nightmares Bry has and can't remember are only making things worse. The sense of time running out and the search is kicked up into high gear. Everyone's magic is acting a bit wonky as the equinox approaches.

Things move quickly as we have fights of will, power, and kick butt action. Still the characters are why we really care as much as we do. I love Bry for sure but I think I love the best friend dynamic between Bry and Elle above most else. They are friendship goals and remind me of some of the stuff my bestie and I would say and/or do though less magically, like make fun of people in horror movies doing the stupidest things….yep that's us. Then you have Knox because you can't forget the sexy werewolf mate! Speaking of mate the inner conversations Bry has with her wolf had me rolling most of the time. Like she has a literally voice in her head trying to convince her to do things, like chowing down on your mates ex, when they pop up. Knox and Bry the story is sweet and amazing as always, he could save me anytime! And Alec who is basically Knox's Elle. Their brotherly dynamic is on point and adorable. Plus no matter how hard they try to play as friends Elle and Alec are super cute and impossible not to ship.

We dig deeper as we approach the conclusion to the fountain search. Things that are translated always have multiple meanings as anyone well knows but in this care old papyri is no exception. Mysteries are solved, truths revealed, and life templates are put to the test. I was so excited to go on this ride for the search for the fountain and the hope to fix magic. And maybe get a little bit of normal high school time if you're lucky! So I can't say much else without spoiling things and that will not do. The book flies by so pick it up and give it a go!

Shifters and Glyphs is the second novel in the Fairy Tales of the Magicorum series by Christina Bauer and is another bubbly and fun magical fairytale retelling with a light-hearted twist.

Bryar Rose lives in a world where magic exists. As a wolf shifter, Bry is one of a number of people living out fairytale templates. As a sleeping beauty template, Bry has spent her life living in seclusion with her evil fairy aunts, but that is all changing. Preparing to attend a prestigious school for wizards, fairies and shifters, Bry is ready for a somewhat normal life until her regular dreams of pyramids and papyri begin to take on a darker shade. Soon Bry will have to delve into long suppressed secrets but alongside her mate Knox and her best friend Elle, Bry is ready for anything….or so she thinks.

As far as fairytale retellings go, Fairytales of the Magicorum is one of the lighter, more playful series I’ve had the pleasure of reading. Christina Bauer picks up where the previous story left off with Shifters and Glyphs once again drawing readers into the world inhabited by Bryar Rose and her friends. Bauer takes liberties with the traditional fairytales you may be familiar with, weaving together a magical enhanced story that takes elements of beloved fairytales and gives them a modern and fun twist.

Shifters and Glyphs is once again told through the eyes of Bryar Rose who is a lively and vivacious character. Bry has character and spunk; keeping readers on their toes with quick quips as well as inner dialogue exchanged between Bry and her wolf which makes for some adorable reading. Bry’s wolf is like an eager puppy with some of her comments and directions and I feel like she’s a really entertaining inclusion on Christina Bauer’s part.

Much of Shifters and Glyphs is spent following Bryar and her friends as they search for the mysterious fountain of magic that has been haunting Bry’s dreams. Christina Bauer includes some developments you won’t necessarily see coming but includes plenty of moments of friendship and sweet romance too to keep things interesting.

As Shifters and Glyphs brings Bryar Rose’s story to a close, I’m super excited about the possibility of reading Elle and Alec’s story. They are just adorable together and I can’t wait to begin their story next. I’m even hopeful that one day Christina Bauer might write a story featuring Ty, because after the initial problems she caused, I do think she’s a really promising character and has plenty of potential.

A fun and entertaining fairytale retelling, Shifters and Glyphs ends perfectly to conclude Bry’s tale and leaves me keen to see what Christina Bauer has in store for this magical world next!

For those who have been following my reviews or even stumble upon my blog or profile would probably already know that I am borderline obsessed with Christina Bauer's works. Since the Angelbound Origins, I have always adored the quirky narrators and the fantasy worlds that this author always manage to deliver, and Fairy Tales of the Magicorum did not exempt.

Shifters and Glyphs delves deeper into the main issue of founding the 'Fountain of Magic' that was introduced in the previous instalment. And let me warn you (in a good way of course) that these 300 something pages has been nothing but packed with adventures and twists that will keep you from moving from the couch until you finish the whole thing. If anything, the mix between action and humour definitely made Shifters and Glyphs an entertaining read.

Although I thought it is a good way to conclude our protagonists Bryar and Knox's arc, I wished the story had more explanations and background on the fairy tale template that was supposedly forced upon the Magicorum (shifters, fae, witches/warlocks), which I always found very interesting and would love to know more on how it came about. There are definitely a lot of questions left unanswered still, and I hope somehow we will get more insight on it on the next instalments. I found it to be a bit of a let down that we didn't get as much exposure on the other characters and their developments except on the main protagonists in this one compared to the first one, I miss Elle and Alec! But hey, we are expecting them fully on the next book so I won't be too bitter about it.

Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend this book and series to everyone who are interested in the Fantasy Fiction genre! I for one will definitely be sitting on the edge of my seat for the next book to come.

I should start by saying that I absolutely adored the first book in this series! This one was a little slower to start for me (and didn't give us Elle as a main character, though thankfully that is coming!) but I ended up enjoying the adventure and further development of the world. Shifters and Glyphs picks up a few months after book 1 and continues to follow Bryar Rose, Knox, and friends as they start a new school year, are pitted against shadowy new villains, and must seek answers about magic and their role in it.

We don't get much development of the romance between Bry and Knox in this book, although there is some conflict with a clingy ex-girlfriend. The plot did meander a little bit and the first few chapters were very heavy on info-dumping all the world-building and key plot points from book 1. For anyone who read the first book, this is going to be pretty tedious and I wish there was less of that. However, the story does pick up after that and really gets going about 35% of the way into the book. It is a quick read and very fun and action-packed. I missed seeing more snarky BFF moments with Elle- while we do get them, I wanted more! Overall, I liked this, but felt it was a bit weaker than book 1. I'm excited to read on in the series though and can't wait to get inside Elle's head! (because she is a super bad-ass version of Cinderella who is also a hacker, thief, and con-artist!) Since I had already read (and liked) Scythe from Christina Bauer I requested the arc for Shifters and Glyphs. I hadn't realized, however, that this was not a book from the same series, but from another series altogether. Fortunately, this story was easier to understand than the two-dimensional part of the Dimension Drift Series. Because shifters, fairies and wizards? Those I understand. We meet Bryar, who apparently is transcendent from one of these lines. You have to read Wolves and Roses for that story. But in this part she is going to a special school for shifters, fairies and wizards. Together with her boyfriend (shifter and hottie Knox), her BFF Elle (fairy) and friend Alec (wizard) she is planning on going to school and try to be normal.

Bryar Rose is special, having all three types of magic in her- fae, witch, and shifter. She is free from the curse she was under and now attends high school with her boyfriend, Knox, the warden of shifters, Alec, the warden of wizards/witches, and her best friend Elle. However, Bry's dreams are causing her much to distress over. She needs to discover what they mean. Another troubling issue is that wardens cannot mate until the fountain is restored. Knox knows Bry is his mate, but cannot move forward until they restore the fountain. Evil keeps trying to pressure Bry to do their bidding, going as far as threatening her friends and showing their abilities through her dreams. Bry realizes she alone needs to find the fountain and balance magic, knowing the damage it had done in the past. Bry's friends will not let her fight this battle alone, and journey after her, knowing the consequences. Shifters and Glyphs is the second book in the Fairy Tales of the Magicorum series. Bauer’s characters are remarkable in skill and fearlessness, yet I was constantly annoyed by repeated reminders of who everyone was and what they did in the first book. I understand that some nudging is needed to remind readers about the first story, but once I move past chapter 3, I like to experience the new story and don’t want these continuous reminders. Overall it was an enjoyable story and I will be looking forward to the third book when it is released.

AAAAAH. I LOVED THIS. Soooo goooood. I really really enjoyed the plot of this one, more than the rest of the books, even. It was so exciting and mysterious!!! I laughed and sighed at all the right places. I haven’t read anything else by Christina Bauer except this series, but I don’t need to to know she has talent. I seriously enjoyed reading this book.

I think what made it the most fun was that our beloved main characters learn so much more about themselves. They’re still the same people, but they definitely change, and it’s for the better.

One thing that really made me all warm and fuzzy was Alec and Elle. Alec was just so protective of her and it’s so cute!!! I’m dying here while waiting for them to finally become a couple. I’ve wanted it since book one and it’ll (hopefully) be coming next book!!! I’m super excited for that.

I’m not sure what else to say. I know this review was poorly written, but I’m super excited with that ending and can’t get my words together. Basically, I liked this book the best out of the others in the series and I’m eager to know what happens next.

Shifters and Glyphs was pretty good. Several plot lines that I’d been suspecting for the past two books turned out to be true, and there were a few twists along the way as well.

I’m still not certain how Reggie fits in to the series. I’d like to know more of his story. I’d also like to know more of Ty’s story, so I’m hoping she gets her own set of books later, or at least a novella.

I feel, once again, as though we’re missing parts of the story. We don’t get to see Bry’s friends’ reactions to finding out she’s a Trilorum. I would think that’s a major revelation, seeing as they’re very rare. Nor do we get to find out what happens with Azizi. I know there will be more books, but since the next one switches to an Elle focus, I’d have thought we’d get more info on Az in this one.

Overall, I was pleased with the book, although I’m left with more questions than answers. I can only hope that we’ll get answers in the next book of the series.

I was less than impressed by this book. I think the glaring editorial mistakes made it worse than it really was. I am a copy editor by trade and cannot stand when words are left out or when capitalization and punctuation are wrong. This book could have benefited with a good editor. Aside from that, the plot was OK, but too much time was spent on things that really didn’t matter. A good portion of the book could’ve been omitted, and the story still would have been just fine. Seriously, you just have to read the last fourth of the book and you would be fine. The first 3/4 of the book does not provide any vital information. I think I am done with this series. Time to move on.
Little-to-no swearing, except for one totally out-of-the-blue F-bomb. No sex.

If you loved the first book, you're going to love this next book. Shifters and Glyphs is the second full length novel in the Fairy Tales of the Magicorum series, and it's everything I hoped for it to be. Following Bryar Rose, she's relaxing with her new indestructible outfit that she got in the last novella, with her boyfriend. Tomorrow is her first ever day of school, she's always been home schooled and she has no idea what to expect.

Fantasy books can always be a lot of fun, and I did have fun reading the first book of this series! That said, I feel like book two and three were slightly rushed. A lot could have been expanded on that was left barely explained, and I really wanted to love this series. The characters had potential, as well. Some things I noticed in this book, though, was a lot of typos as well as telling and not showing. Concept wise, it was amazing! I just feel like a lot of the cool twists and turns were rushed so everything could fit in the last book. It had a lot of potential, but overall I didn't enjoy it all that much.

I really enjoyed every moment of this book. From the chaos to the heartfelt moments.

The author does not stop with the intense moments for Bryar Rose and her friends after taking down one of the most powerful males in the world. Now they have even more issues to deal with and try to figure out what to do next and who they are going to fight, also some important moments for Bryar Rose.

I loved that the author still had some amazing moments in this book with the attention to details in the settings to the nonstop go, go go moments. I love how the characters' inner wolves talk to them and how they banter with their inner wolves. I also enjoyed the loving and protective side to them as well. Not just to their mates but to the ones that they care about.

That moment with Elle made me so happy, I was giving myself a pack on the back to figure that one out.

I can’t wait to see what else this gang will have to overcome, because I know just because they faced down one thing there is something else in the mist for them.

I recommend these books if you like fantasy, Retellings, paranormal romance, and of course magic.

Good story. I can't tell if we've reached the end of Bry and Knox's journey together. The link to Colonel Mallory was interesting. I'm not sure I completely understood the ending, but since I liked how it ended, I was fine with it.

Great wrap up

So this book was the ‘end’ so to speak of Knox and Bryar’s respective arc. The next couple follow Elle (and Alec I hope). This wrapped everything with the fountain up nicely and I just really love Knox ❤️ perfect book boyfriend material.

Bauer’s books always have such unique characters and amazing world building. Can’t wait for book 3

Good YA story line.
Love the sense of humor the author gives to the main character. There are some twists that I could not see coming, and was really surprised of the outcome.
