The Hoodie Girl

Rate this book
Seelah Reece kept her head down in high school. She tried to make herself as invisible as possible, but people still picked on her. They called her names like fat and ugly without ever really seeing her face. To make matters worst, she endured the same ridicule at home. After getting her diploma, Seelah went off to college with full scholarships and never looked back. Until her past came knocking on her door in the form of Asher Delgado, one of her old tormentors.

"I don't want you. Get that through your thick skull," I say slowly so that he can understand.
"And I won't stop until you. Are. Mine. Get that through your thick skull," he says before strutting away.

This so called book is a PLAGIARIZED version of the original book that had been released on Wattpad. THE ORIGINAL BOOK, has not been published. Whoever published this plagiarized book is getting profit for an original story idea that does not even belong to them. TAKE IT DOWN! If you have any respect for the original writer, Yuen Wright, also known as YuenWrites on Wattpad, don't buy this book and don't support this.

Good read

The book could have been great if the end wasn't so rushed. I felt like we should have had a lot more about Asher and See lah. Especially given their traumatic past. I fell that the story would have also been better if the 4 missing years had been fleshed out. How did she recover, how did she deal with having a kid alone, how did she create a new business etc. Same thing we don't know much about Asher as a person either, the high school stuff and borderline stalker tenancies aside. What are his hopes and dreams, his childhood etc? I would have like to know more about them as a couple and family too. It's a good 1 effort though. Keep her the good work

I don't have any words

This book had me gripped from the start. So what heroine what thru sent chills down my spine.I don't believe in giving someone a bad review. I can't write so I believe in giving positive reviews. This young lady is going to be a best selling author. Yes, she needs a editor, but that's not a deal breaker with me. Her hero and heroine had great chemistry. Her other characters were very relatable everybody has a Mel , Brodie and a Archie in their lives. I'm so glad it was not a cliff hanger but my only complaint it felt unfinished. So I hope these two appear in other works because I feel their story is not finished. But that will not stop me from reading what ever this author will produce. I'm waiting patiently for what Ms. Zaile has next

Good Book But.....

This would have been a great book, if the book has been edited. I think this author has the potential to be a great writer as she progresses. She needs to flush out the emotions of her characters.

Good first effort

I have to agree with another reviewer, there was just too much description regarding her getting dressed, who cares about hearing what body parts she lotions? Asher also made me gag throughout. We hear him referring to women as 'sluts' even after he leaves school. Where is his life changing event that stops him viewing women this way? if it wasn't for him none of the awful things would have happened to Seelah. I still don't understand how he can say he loves her, when could this have happened? There exchanges were brief and contentious.Nope, not a fan of the 'instalove' on this story. It also felt like the POV's of both were too similar in thought and language. I wasn't convinced that Asher would use some of the phrases, it just didn't sound authentic atvtmes. One final criticism is that there should have been more prior warning about 'the incident' (you'll know what I'm talking about after you've read it) because that really upset me. Despite the above, I actually thought this was a good read and I hope to read more from the author. I appreciated the well written sex scenes and comedic relief provided by Seelah's friends. Good effort!

From Bully to True Love

When we first meet Asher he was so obnoxious and such a entitled bully I was not sure if he could be redeemed. Even when we encounter him seven years later he has not evolved much. Seelah was truly tormented in her home and high school. Her brother and her grandmother deserve a special place in hell. Seelah was using education as an escape but learned literally as she was leaving for college that she was a heiress.

Asher and Seelah attend their seven year high School reunion for very different reasons. As she is leaving, Asher has a glimpse of her and not realizing that she’s the girl he tormented .....she is so beautiful that he falls in love with her instantly.

In typical Asher fashion, he looks for her and puts himself in her orbit..... not understanding boundaries or limits. Her brother who is a hateful beast works for Asher. He still hates her and Asher’s pursuit of her puts her in danger. To say her brother is twisted and crazy isn’t an understatement.

This new author takes all of these twisted elements and makes a convincing and sweet story. By the end of the story I was team Asher something I thought would never happen.

Wow where to start the corona virus updates were starting to make me depressed so I thought let me read a new book, but half way in I realised I was better of watching the news.
Unrealistic, stalker, to ritch, to mean, to nice, to much of everything that was not good.

WTF

I’m tired. I didn’t finish this book. I finally gave up at 75%. The book started out well. The whole high school bullying and mean grandmother had my interest. I should have known what a mess this story was going to be when a lawyer turns up on the day she(Seelah) was about to escape the mess that was her life to go off to Columbia University on a full scholarship, to tell her that her dead mother left her $75 million dollars. Why wouldn’t some of that money had been allocated to take care of her before this?

She literally runs away to university and this is not part of her life the author lets us see. The next time we see her she is a young vibrant professional who owns her own art studio. She has lost a ton of weight (which she was teased for in high school) and she is full of confidence, living her best life.

She returns home against her better judgment, and unbeknownst to her garner the attention of her worst tormentor, Asher. He sees a beautiful and sexy woman and falls instantly in love, not realizing this is the same fat hoody wearing girl he used to torment. By the time he can approach her she has left.

Long story short he tracks her down still not knowing who she is, and cannot understand why she won’t fall at his arrogant feet.

There is too much wrong with this book in my opinion. Lots of grammatical errors. The H&H are both pretty unlikable in my opinion. I’ve never read a romance before where both the main characters have sex and relationships with other people after meeting each other, even when it’s a love triangle. To make matters worse, she is kidnapped by her brother and tortured for days. Then he brings in someone to rape her and we are given graphic details of that rape! And she gets pregnant. At first we are not sure if the pregnancy is a result of the rape or from the relationship she was in with the other guy Damian( not the H, Asher). This book is a f-ing mess. This has all happened by around the 60% mark and she hasn’t even gotten together yet with who will ultimately be the H of the book.

I finally gave up at 75% because she has now decided she needs to run away to Paris because she can’t trust Asher. She will go away and have and raise her baby by herself.

As a black woman , I really want to support black female writers, but when they keep writing these overfilled, drama ridden books, filled with rape and violence, it pisses me off. Why does it always have to be about the mafia, guns and excessive violence. I read for escape, not this shit. This book shouldn’t even have been classified romance!

Had High Hopes

This started off with great potential. The outcast being bullied, but overcoming it. Yes, I was rooting for the underdog. Seelah had life changing events that were a bit too fantastical and unbelievable, but I love a good overcoming obstacles story. However, this wasn’t it for me. I literally hated Asher and Brodie. They weren’t strong men in charge, they were just plain mean. They came across as trying to be intimidating, lacking respect for women, overly possessive and thinking that money gave them true power. Seelah seemed to overcome her past, but when those from her past showed up she reverted back to the easily intimidated and controlled fat girl. Great potential then it derailed.

Technical issue I think

I loved this book from wattapad so was delighted to see it here on this platform.

However I think there might be an issue with the conversion as the ended was very abruptly cut off. Hopefully that gets fixed

This book was plagiarized from another Wattpad author. Don’t read this book! She copied everything and just changed the names. If you all want to read the original book, it’s called The Hoodie Girl by Yuen Wright. It’s also on goodreads too.

Wow, just wow!

I don't even know where to start. Asher was a completely creepy, stalker asshole and there was no love felt between the two main characters. I knew Seelah would get with him at the end but I was hoping the Author would through in a twist and make Seelahs happily ever after with someone else.
