Lucas Badd…the Baddest of them all, he's patriarch of the clan, a man with the size and temperament of a grizzly bear whose past holds the keys to not only his own future, but also the way everyone connected to him will move forward as a family. Who can tame a man this wild?

Olivia Goode. A widow, a mother, and a woman who is Lucas’s opposite in every way imaginable. If anyone can, it would be her, but the real question is whether she can move past her own tragedy to see the man beneath the grizzly bear exterior, and whether Lucas has the courage to face his demons and become the man he’s spent the last forty years pretending not to be.

Badd Daddy is the 12th story in the Badd Brothers Series and it follows the story of Lucas and Olivia. Now, I'll be 100% honest with you, I didn't really know what I was getting myself into with this book. I think I've only read one book in this series and have so many that I really need to get caught up on. Even with being behind in this series, the synopsis of this one was too hard to pass up and let me tell you, this book does not disappoint.

Lucas and Olivia had my attention from their very first encounter. Lucas is loud, wild, a beast of a man. Olivia is his total opposite in every way. But, you know the saying, opposites attract. And well the attraction between these two was one not to be missed. A good woman can bring a man to their knees, and Olivia might just be what the doctor ordered....

Overall, Badd Daddy was a quick and enjoyable read. Even though this is the 12th book in this series, you can read and enjoy this book as a stand-alone novel. The characters were fun and engaging. Their stories realistic and one that tugs at your heart. This story had just the right amount of sexy good times, romance, and drama. I enjoyed everything about this story from beginning to end and can not wait to explore more of the books in this series.

*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*

I love the Badd family!

Here we have Lucas Badd. You could say he's the patriarch of the bunch of them. And he is, to an extent. In this book, we learn about Lucas, and his twin brother, Liam, who is the father of the original Badd brothers. We see what drove them to be the men they became. And boy! What a story that was!

We also get to see Lucas fall in love with Olivia Goode. Their love was sweet and just perfect. It took me a bit to really like Liv. At the same time, I sort of identified with her seeing as we both have 5 daughters LOL .

When Badd meets Goode….
What a surprise Lucas’ story was! If you are a reader of the Badd Brothers series than you are more than familiar how this father of triplets shaped his son’s lives. The brothers had few good memories of their Dad and now the time for secrets was over…

Lucas was back among family but that didn’t mean he was actually living. Forgiveness. Acceptance. Happiness. He was stuck in an isolated rut with a future he couldn’t see. Thankfully, it wasn’t too late… Olivia was in Alaska to begin a new life after loss had set her own life in an entirely different direction. Complete opposites, they shouldn’t have worked but somehow they did…

I LOVED Lucas and Olivia together! Lucas was rough and unpolished while Olivia was the complete polar opposite. Prim and proper, she might be small in stature, but she knew just how to motivate a gruff mountain man. Something clicked with them and their chemistry and attraction felt so natural. There were awkward baby steps, home truths and lots of uncertainty but at the same time their imperfection made it feel natural and real. Hearing Lucas’ story of how his life unfolded – and impacted his kids – was a very welcome surprise as it filled in the gaps and brought the whole clan together to heal some very old wounds.

And, just when I thought this series was coming to an end (insert unhappy face here), it turns out Olivia’s girls are going to bring new life to the Badd series with more Goode to come. Insert excited, happy dance here!!

OH Just WOW. The Badd family just keeps growing and so does the joy in my heart. This family just melts me in every way. They are strong, stubborn, commanding and have no trouble speaking their minds. They are family oriented and loyal to a fault. These men know what they want and do whatever it takes to get it, especially when it comes to the women in their lives. When it comes to their women we see their inner soft side as well as some very heated moments. Kudos Ms. Wilder for writing amazing storylines with characters that I can swoon over as well as feel like I’ve known them for years.

This is Lucas Badd story. If you have kept up with this Amazing series, Lucas is the triplet’s dad and the uncle to the Badd brothers. It was awesome to finally hear the story about the bothers Mom and Dad and why Lucas turned into a alcoholic and was never there for the his sons as they were growing up. It’s a marvelously written story that touched my heart and made me root for a happy ending as I flipped the pages.

I Highly Recommend the entire Badd Family series; they are one of my all time favorite series, and Badd Daddy is a wonderful, heartfelt addition. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars.

Lucas Badd was everything. He was nothing I thought he was from his previous mentions in the Badd series.

I loved his story ❤️

I felt for Lucas. His character Was executed with such depth of understanding why he is the way he is.

Author Jasinda Wilder developed Lucas as one of those characters we could relate to when it comes to changing for the better and having that someone that motivates you to, and that someone is Yourself!

Olivia Goode is the perfect push he needs to snap him out of his funk and make him see more than what he regularly sees in himself.

I emotionally loved these 2 characters together. Their interactions were funny, sexy and so enduring.

Another Badd Man to fall in love with.

A second chance book about Lucas, the farther of the cousins of the 8 original Badds.
After a heart-attach and a traffic accident the father of Rom, Rem and Ramsey finds his way to Ketchikan. He has a long way in front of him to make amends with his kids, to meet the large Badd clan and tο stop being rough unkempt grumpy old guy with extremely bad health condition. He admits to himself that he is on his last chance... The opportunity to a better guy occurs when he meets the beautiful Liv.

I didn't though that I would like this book and I started reading it so to finish with the Badd series, but it was a real on the ground story with a very honest hero and a very sweet heroine. I know it won't sound good but I like it more that some books of the original 8 of Badd family books.

Just when you think you have met them all and have gotten to know all of the Badd boys, in walks the Badd-est of them all...Lucas Badd, father to the triplet cousins of the original Badd brothers in the first books of this series. Yep, Roman, Remington and Ramsey's father Lucas is living in the same little Alaskan town as all of the other Badds and he is something else. Gruff, grumpy, vulgar language, and in bad shape. He's on the wagon, out of shape, still limping from a bad leg break in an automobile accident that should of killed him. Recovered from a heart attack that should have killed him and still not taking care of himself like he should. His thinking; why should he? He's still harbouring feelings for his brother, his sister-in-law (both passed) and these feelings along with others are twisting inside of him more so now that he is living in the same town as their eight sons, his nephews and he knows that there are questions and resentment coming from boths sides by all of the Badd boys. His turning point? Meeting the beautiful Olivia Goode. She's a ray of sunshine in his gloomy sorrowful life, with a way about her and the way she questions him and talks to him that begins to make him think that maybe, just maybe he should do something about his life; his lifestyle. With the help of his son and his nephew, he begins to get himself into physical shape, begins eating right and taking better care of himself.

Olivia is a widow with 5 grown daughters of her own, living and working in their town as an interior designer when she meets the overweight bear of a man in the hardware store that he is working at. He's trying to pick out a paint color when they meet and the attraction is immediate. It's not the way he looks, but there is something inside of him that draws Olivia to him. She can see inside of him the man that he could be if he would just make the effort.

This story is wonderfully written and in his own gruff way, Lucas Badd will slowly capture your heart with his sweetness and almost hidden, gentle way. He is a work in progress and you watch as he transforms into what Olivia knew was there. Their story is beautiful, funny, sweet and finally, hot. I loved this story and found that I did, in fact, like Lucas Badd once he told the complete story of his life, his rift with his brother and the secret of the feelings for his sister-in-law. Feelings that he has carried his entire life since meeting her.

I adored this story and know that you will come to love this old coot as much as I did. Great story, great book and great series!! I highly recommend this book!

Reviewing on behalf of Relentless Book Chics Ramblings and Reviews

A great surprise; Lucas Badd is my favourite Badd.

I’m a huge fan of this author and was mourning the loss of the Badd brothers so I was really happy to see that Lucas Badd would be telling his story.

Lucas Badd has spent most of his life being drunk so he was a useless dad to his 3 sons. The history between him and his twin brother kept him far away from Ketchikan, Alaska but now he’s back, a year sober and hoping to rebuild his relationship with his boys. Working at the hardware store keeps him busy but seeing how in shape his sons and nephews are is a constant reminder that he’s really let himself go but he’s just not got the motivation to do anything about it, until he meets Olivia. With the help of his family, he begins to see the man he used to be emerging which gives him the confidence to go after what he really wants.

Olivia Goode is an interior designer and moved to Ketchikan to start over after her husband died. Her 5 daughters are grown up and off living their lives and she’s content living alone in her condo but sometimes feels lonely. While at the hardware store she meets a man who’s clueless about decorating and offers to help, he may be overweight and curses a lot but Lucas stirs something inside her that she hasn’t felt for a long time.

As Lucas and Olivia’s friendship grows it becomes clear that opposites definitely do attract but will Lucas ever feel worthy of such a good woman and will Olivia be able to put her fears behind her and allow love into her life again?

I loved this story. Lucas was an easy character to like and he’s a huge softy underneath his gruff exterior. Olivia is sweet and has a gentle nature with a perfect balance of soft and firm when she needs to be. It was great to read a mature romance and to watch it grow over time as the characters lives changed and developed. I’d definitely recommend this story and all the previous books in the Badd brother’s series. I’m really looking forward to following the Goode girls on their journeys and I hope the first book in that series releases soon.

From the author of "Big Girls Do It"... this was----disappointing to say the least.

***Spoilers Ahead***

A complete filler mess of a book to bridge you to the "Goode Girls" series. It went something like this:

1. Man meets woman (both 40+) - yea representation!
2. Wait. On their 2nd meeting (2ND MEETING!) she decides to be straight with him. She likes him a lot but he's FAT so they can only be friends.
3. Liv has to leave the country due to some super contrived family drama (happening with not 1, not 2, but 3 of her daughters... therein lies the "Goode Girls" series I see now I will be completely skipping.
4. Lucas immediately decides to get ripped - "for himself" and goes on an apology tour with his boys once he starts looking better from all of the working out and healthy eating he's doing. Because, you know, the love of a woman he's met twice can change you when your three sons spent the last 20+ years trying.
5. Liv comes back into town, sees Lucas and his new shredded body and, since she can stomach him now, they immediately bone while screaming I LOVE YOU.

I have never read two people with less chemistry in my life. You can stick in a dead ex-husband and claim you are only attracted to "healthy" people all you want but I, for one, can see straight through that. After finishing this in a rage, I read some of the other reviews. I guess JW has slimmed down and, likewise, has moved in a different direction with her characters. I wouldn't usually give one thought to an author's fitness journey. Let's call a spade a spade though. This was just a really disappointing message from someone that has written an entire Big Girls series. Fat=Unhealthy Fat=Undesireable I would expect that in a YA bully novel. I don't like it in my adult romance.

Apparently I have found my one trigger... Skip at all costs if you think this might sound like you...

Dear Jasinda,

From the moment I started this series with Badd Motherf*cker I fell in love. Fell in love with the characters, the town, and how this family was coming together. Actually, through these books, I've added Alaska to my bucket list of places to visit.

With each book, each character we met, the pieces of this family were coming together. Pieces that kept us coming back for more. Needless to say, even after you wrapped the series (or so we thought) with Badd Medicine I was always curious with what happened. Badd Family history was an enigma.

Then you surprised us with AMAZING story. Lucas Badd. Meets a Goode woman.

Side Note to readers: Badd Daddy is the very definition of bringing a series to full circle and then some. You'll laugh, you'll cry (ohhh break out the tissues!!), and then your heart will swell so much it'll feel too big to stay in your chest.

Thank you for creating this story. Although you owe two boxes of tissues and a dozen hours of life that I willfully gave to read this book that I thoroughly LOVED.

Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank. You.

This is a MUST READ.

I have to say that I loved this latest installment in the Badd family. Lucas Badd is one grumpy and stubborn man with a very disappointing past. Olivia Goode is a widow with 5 grown daughters who's making it on her own as an interior designer in Alaska. They're unlikely friends and an even more impossible couple. Olivia sees something in Lucas that he deosn't see. She thinks he's funny, obscene, and is determined to lift his spirits. Lucas is entranced with 'Liv. She's an angel to him and he finally desires to become a better man.

I loved this book because it wasn't "instant love." It was a slow build with a very realistic story line. We get to see Olivia with her struggles separate from Lucas and his battle. During the story Lucas loses a significant amount of weight by changing his diet and going to the gym. He also makes a major effort to mend fences with his sons and nephews. I really liked the redemption theme in Badd Daddy. Your past doesn't define you. Badd Daddy is a slow burn romance with some very steamy scenes and great characters. 5 stars! Thanks, Jasinda!

I would have given it 4 Stars because I really did enjoy the story. I liked it...BUT...I am unsure if maybe I am just reading into it too much or being sensitive about it but in the past couple books of hers, I have noticed she has either focused on the persons weight too much or made the focus on the extra weight on them be negative. I know the author had recently lost lots of weight and wrote some books on it and I am unsure if maybe her old feelings of being overweight are leaking out into her characters. I don't know how to explain it but it was just such a turn off with all the focus on Lucas's fat stomach, and flabby arms...i don't know...i just was a little upset about it. She tried to write it in that the heroine was just worried about his health but I truly felt she missed the mark...well for me she did. Anyway...I am going to keep reading her books, but if I see again the negative attention towards peoples weight again in another book, I might stop reading her.

As I started to read this book I wondered why the guy on the cover was on the cover, he didn't match the Lucas at the start of the book. But by the end of the book, he was spot on, Lucas went through a big transformation. I liked seeing Lucas change and how Liv was the catalyst to the change. Yes there romance/courtship/dating was awesome, but better was their friendship, the way from the start they were brutally honest with each other, covering some touchy subjects from their past. What really worked about this was the acceptance each gave the other and how they could see they were trying to change (Lucas more than Liv).

Lucas with his family, his 3 boys and all the original Badd crew was wrenching. The truth finally coming out about Liam, Lucas and Lena was so honest, so brutal, so real, leaving the extended family a lot to think about. I liked that Lucas's boys especially got to know why the man they knew as their father was so broken. It made the chats he had one on one with each triplet all the better.

I really loved how this one ended, loved that Lucas and Liv took things to the next level.

I'm looking forward to reading the spin off series of the Goode girls, Liv's daughters. Right now 3 of the 5 we can see are spiraling down, I'm sure the other 2 will soon too, all needing to come home to Mama Liv. I just hope they all have as great of introduction to the Alaskan wilds as Cassie, can't wait to see what happens there.

Great addition to series. May need more editing for consistency. At least in library release. Glad Lucas got his own book and to hear the back story.

I am SO bingeing on this series right now. This is the story of Lucas Badd. He's the Uncle of the original 8 Badd Brothers, and the father of the Badd triplets. We've seen glimpses of him in past books, and heard the triplets talk often about how their dad was a drunk and didn't do much to raise them after their mother left. We also see him in the Seattle hospital room after he has a bad car accident while driving drunk. The same hospital where Rem and Juneau bump into each other for the first time, and also where Ramsey and Izzy hook up. Suffice to say that we aren't given a flattering picture of Lucas Badd, so I was sort of surprised to see him get his own story. The other surprise is that Lucas is older - he's 62, and Olivia Goode is 46ish. I have to admit, this made the story even more intriguing to me - since I'm 46, and most of the books are about MUCH younger people - (which is TOTALLY fine, but it's nice to see a little age-diversity show up!)
Olivia is about as different from Lucas as humanly possible. She's younger, gorgeous, healthy, always perfectly dressed, and just very well put together. After being widowed in her early 40s, Olivia comes to Ketchikan to start over. She's tired of the East Coast upper-class scene, and wants a more authentic and real life.
She finds herself drawn to Lucas for reasons she doesn't understand. He's grumpy, vulgar, overweight and generally in a bad way. But something about him attracts her. They become friends, and she's honest with Lucas about the fact that if they ever want to be more than friends, he needs to start taking care of himself.
Lucas becomes inspired to try to change his life. He enlists his sons and nephews to help him with his fitness and diet. He finally tells the entire story of his relationship with his brother and Lena, the 8 boys' mother. A story he has been running away from for 40 years. In telling the story honestly, he begins to heal. And he also begins to deal with the damage he has done to his relationship with his boys. While Olivia gets called out of the country for a family emergency for several months, Lucas uses the time to work on himself. Of course when she gets home, things pick back up and get steamy.
I really did enjoy this book, the only thing is - I really had trouble believing that Olivia would be attracted to someone like Lucas. Not only because of the way he looks, but because he is so…. rough. He's barely literate, (at one point he misspells the word "here"). He also shuns technology and the world in general - not even having a cell phone that's capable of texting. I just couldn't see how those two could end up together. I also have to say - I didn't connect with Olivia at all. She has a habit of lecturing, she's proper, never swears and makes it clear she doesn't like it when others swear. She seemed a bit "precious" to me.
This book was a nice capper to the Badd family story - and a perfect introduction to the Goode family, the spin off series revolving around Olivia's five daughters. I look forward to reading those!

I edited this review 19/04/22. TW for this review- discussion of my treatment as a fat person and my feelings overall on this book.

I couldn’t finish. I made it to 47%. I usually love this authors books...but after reading spoilers and already being upset by the first portion of the book? I couldn’t justify reading the rest.

As someone that is currently fat and struggles with my own body image- I would have really appreciated a solid warning. So I decided to write out this review/explanation exactly why this book didn’t work for me.
So here’s your content warning if you stumble across my review:
This book includes the MMC losing weight. Weight loss was apart of a decent chunk of the story up until 47%.

This book solidified the ideal that you only give yourself positive affirmations (which is self love to me) if you have lost weight. If you’re “fixing yourself”.
It was upsetting to read about the MMC being put throughout that, and it really highlighted the importance of body neutrality and body love when feeling like you have to lose weight.

Overall- these are my reasons why I couldn’t finish the book.

It’s an everyday battle to fight for my own body love, regardless of what I look like and what my weight is.

Before you think “ah fat people need the reminder to lose weight” or “you’re not healthy if your fat”. I shouldn’t have to be fit or even look fit to have plain ol’ respect. Respect that I can make choices for my own body. Respect that you don’t know somebodies life story from the size of their body and being fat doesn’t make me a bad person. For example- I went to a “healthy choices” (read more along the lines of a weight loss clinic for kids) for roughly 2-3 years. For me, from 9-12years old I spent learning how lose weight.
I went to countless appointments teaching me how my bod needed to lose weight. Dealing with disappointed looks when I didn’t lose weight. Being expected not to gain any more weight while going throughout puberty. Never once...did they teach me self love. They taught me at that young age that my body was the enemy. My body was fat, so that made it bad. Even with me eating healthy, working out regularly and trying my best..it was truly never good enough.

I know this factor in the book won’t be important to some people, but it was for me because of my personal experience as a fat person.

Book 12 in this series and it just keeps giving. I thought this series was over after book 8 but with new family members coming to the table, moving it forward. This book is about Lucas Badd and for me it was one of most emotional of all the series to date. This book most definitely didn't disappoint at all.

Lucas and Olivia are complete opposite and although they are they are completely ment to be. They start out a building a friendship, Lucas however doesn't feel like he much deserves Olivia in his life. He failed his triplets, never really did anything for them, spending his life as a drunk. He see this and feel undeserving of anything good. But Olivia see so much. She see the real him.

I can totally see where this is book is taking this and if it mean we will get more from these people, then I am totally for it. This book and series is a sure recommend for me. All the book Ben though are part of a series can be read completely as standalones.

Lucas is the triplets dad and his twins brother was Liam. Liam and Lena had the 8 badd brothers. But before Liam was with Lena, Lucas was also with Lena. And for 40 years he’s been pining over Lena even though she died and Liam died and he had his boys with a different woman that he never loved.
So he meets Olivia in the hardware store where he works and she takes a quick liking to him. But he’s overweight and barely getting by. He doesn’t talk much to his boys. He quit drinking after a bad car accident but has been drunk most of his life. Olivia sparks him to start taking care of himself. So he hits the gym with his nephew bax and starts eating right and losing the weight.
Olivia has five daughters and is widow at 46. She’s alone in Alaska.
Lucas brings her to family breakfast at badds bar and that’s when all the boys start demanding answers. So he tells the all about how he loved Lena and was certain she would choose him but instead she chose Liam and Lucas never spoke to either of them again. The he made amends with his boys and started a business with ram doing hiking tours. Olivia went to France because her daughter broke her leg in an accident and was gone for 7 weeks. When she came back, Lucas was like a changed man and after a few days they finally see the writing on the wall and get together.

Proof that there’s Life over 50 IF you want it…

Which is essentially what this is. Lucas Badd if the now slightly infamous Badd’s of Alaska, the recent returnees that is not the home grown Badd boys.

A year after his brutal wipeout car crash in Seattle Lucas is existing in Ketchikan, filling a cliched job of retirement age man working in a chain DIY shop (Brit. For Store).

On his day off Lucas is predictably back in the shop and looking at paint, again. Cue Olivia Goode Interior Designer and a widow who’s a relatively recent transplant to Ketchikan.

This is very definitely a love story just as complicated as the previous stories but no less compelling. There’s none of the often squeamish attitude about older people and sex which was refreshing. The origins of Lucas and Liam (his twin) finally come to light. There’s a lot packed into this one, a great addition to the series.

Lucas Badd and Olivia Goode---I mean--why wouldn't you pick up a book that had those character names?? Let's add in the fact that this is Lucas---Badd Daddy, trying to rehab himself and his relationship with his sons. And then there is that little nugget that was dropped in previous books--he had something to do with the Badd brother's parents relationship.

This story was just perfect. I didn't know I needed all those answers until they were laid out for me. And can I just add, I love an older couple romance no and again. Olivia was perfect foil to the grumpy Lucas. So happy for everyone involved.

I smell a new series....... Olivia has 5 Goode girls that appear to be needing some happiness in their lives. Maybe Ketchican will be the cure??

Con't wait to read more!

Surprisingly Amazing

To be honest I wasn’t sure how I felt about reading the love story and steamy scenes of a 62 year old man and a 50 ish old woman being that I’m in my mid twenties but it was actually truly amazing. It brought all the other stories together in the growing journey of the hero. However, seeing both the heroine and hero grow into who they were/are and become strong together really is powerful. Seeing the hero do a complete 180 to better himself to win his heroine just honestly made this a breath taking story. This relationship is honestly how most relationships should be strangers to friends to lovers and companions. I honestly forgot about their age through their beautiful stories and union.

Totally enjoyed this romance

No plot spoilers
No potential triggers
There is quite a lot of swearing but only one sex scene.
This is Lucas and Liv's story, Rem, Rom and Ram's dad. We learn what happened all those years ago to cause the rift between Lucas and Liam, the Badd brothers dad. And we learn more about Lena, the girl in the middle.
I totally enjoyed the book because it explored a full storyline and didn't have a sex scene punctuating every chapter.
It's gritty and explores grief and dependency and overcoming the poor parenting of several generations.
I have no problem recommending the book.

Ahhh!!! This was amazing!!!

I was so excited to see this title released!! I LOVED me some Badd men and was excited to get some more! I will admit to being nervous about Lucas getting a book. He wasn’t really portrayed in the best light in previous books, so I wasn’t sure how this was going to go...but it was perfection!! And to say that my fingers were crossed for more when we met Olivia and found out about her past and family would be a huge understatement...so I was SO happy with the epilogue!! Cannot wait for more!!!

Yes! This was fun and awesome

What a fun story to read. I love that Olivia’s name was Goode. Badd and Goode.... such a cute story. I wish there was more to the ending, I felt it was too soon and made me want more from Lucas and Liv. I wanted to see more of the dynamic between the families once their relationship started getting real. I wanted to see more interaction with Liv and Lucas’ family too. Can’t get enough of the Badd brothers.

Loved the epilogue, I’m excited for the Goode Girls series to come out.
