Alien #4

Alien Bond

Rate this book
My life on Earth was falling apart. I had just lost my mother to a short and sudden battle with cancer and was still struggling to recover when my husband decided to inform me that he was leaving me for another woman. Couldn’t get much worse than that, right?

Wrong. Because then I was abducted by aliens.

I got lucky though, my story had a happy ending. Me and the other girls, we got rescued and taken to a beautiful planet to live deep in an uninhabited rainforest. As far as alien abductions go, it was all fairly picturesque. And that’s how I got a fresh start in life. Fresh except for my baggage, of course. But I’m an optimist and this time around I’m determined to get things right, to find my own happiness in life… Hell, maybe I’ll even find a little romance.

When one sexy, golden alien takes notice of me I think I’ve found what I’m looking for. But then his brother becomes smitten as well and that’s when things start to get messy. I’m not looking to enter a love triangle. I know the pain of a broken heart and I refuse to be the cause of one—or two, as the case may be. The only thing? Sharing my affection doesn’t seem to bother these guys. As a matter of fact, sharing seems to be their goal.

“The cream filling in a Sovolian sandwich.”

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙🩷💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 🙂🙁😀😉🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Heroes: Gile and Mire - Brothers living and working on in a village called Beacon on a formerly uninhabited planet called Elysia. They came to Elysia to aid their boss, Gorard, who won them in a game of chance as slaves but freed them. Sovolian’s were bred to be bodyguards, assassins, slaves. They enjoyed working for Gorard in space while he searched for his people. Now that he found his people and the people of Beacon can use their help as guards and to bring supplies. They now think Beacon is their home, but they wish to socialize more and possible move into the village, as they live at the shipyard, but Mire isn’t so sure. Gile is an extrovert while Mire is an introvert who doesn’t really like people.

The heroine: Melanie (a.k.a. Mel) - she was married to a man that cheated on her and divorced her just after her mother died. She didn’t think things could get worse but found out she was wrong when she was abducted by alien slavers. Though things seemed to turn around when another group of aliens saved her, and she is now living on Elysia, in the village of beacon.

The Story: Mire is a broody, distant male who likes to be on his own, he is afraid to get close to people, he knows that opening up to people will make him vulnerable. He doesn’t want to have so much to lose, he has had enough of that. He stays alone les everything falls apart again. When their friend Holly tells Gile that he should attend the support group that Mel is running for the human women, he decides to go ahead because he wants to start living his life before Mire decides they should leave.

Mel already has a bit of a crush on Mire, and when she starts to get to know Gile, she finds herself attracted to him as well, which presents quite a problem for her. Gile immediately determines that he will make Mel his mate, he is thinking that both him and Mire will have her as a mate, though Mel doesn’t know this and her attraction to both of them confuses her. I liked the romance between Mel and each of the two men. There was also a good side story about Mel being the caretaker of the village and always trying to solve the problems in the village. There is a woman who is stirring up trouble with her hate for all the aliens, despite the fact that the aliens rescued the human females. She thinks there is some kind of conspiracy to make the women stepford-like wives.

This audiobook was told in multiple points of view and was narrated in dual narration by Eva Caine and Gabriel De Leon. Gabriel has a deep, smooth voice that I really enjoy. He sounds very sexy and expressive. Eva Caine has a good voice, though she often sounds a bit depressed, and you can definitely tell she is reading by her tempo.

Should I read in order?
At this point, I would say yes. There has been so many events that have happened and characters introduced you really will get more enjoyment if you read the whole series in order and get to know everyone and the world. Though, if you really just want a good time with 3 mains, it’s possible to read it out of order.

Basic plot:
Mel is the planet’s unofficial therapist, and she’s so curious about the pair of Sovolians that have become her friends.

Give this a try if you want:
- Sci-fi romance
- Both futuristic and primitive elements – other planets/ships have high tech, the planet is more primitive
- Friends to lovers
- MFM pairing
- Alien heroes/human heroine
- Hero washes dishes ;)
- Bit of opposites come together – Giles is funny and lighthearted while Mire is quiet and more serious and Mel holds them together
- Medium steam - 3 full scenes

My thoughts:
I really loved this addition to Tracy Lauren’s Alien series. It’s been forever since I have read a menage novel and wow I think I need more in my life!

A lot of the plot in this one seemed to be focused on some of the unhappiness of some of the other human woman on the planet. I could have used maybe a touch more relationship development or character depth for our mains here, but I still really enjoyed it (the whole epilogue is dedicated from Allison’s perspective, who is the main heroine from the next book. Also, Reagan has a lot of page time in this one and I’m assuming she gets a future book)

This one had a lot of sweetness for me though – I loved the difference in personalities between Mire and Giles and loved them all together. It didn’t have quite the amount of angst as the prior novels, a bit more of outside stress. I love the hero pursues feel and these heroes do hold on to their heroine.

Quotes/thoughts:

“How generous of you,” Mel teases. I lean over to whisper in her ear.
“You will say the same thing when we are in bed together,” I promise.

---

“I’m so close,” she whines. The admission makes me pull my hand away.
“Mire!”
I tsk at my mate. “When you cum it will be on my cock.”

---

“It’s nothing to worry over, Mel. We are simply taking precautions. Did you expect us to fly off half-cocked?”
“Mire? No. You…? Maybe a little bit.”
He chuckles at my words. “Not when we carry such precious cargo,” he says as he fits a metallic shirt over my head.

---
I love this!

The equipment though...it’s so minimal I worry about its efficacy. It sure isn’t anything like the helmets astronauts use on Earth.
“This is going to protect me?” I ask.
“No. Mire and I will protect you. This will help you breathe.” He shoots me a wink and his demeanor lessens my fear.

Being abducted from Earth wasn’t the worst thing that has happened to Mel. Her mother’s death and then her fiancee leaving her shortly afterwards gets that honour. Now, she is on a beautiful new planet after being rescued and working hard to make a new life for herself. Which, she hopes, may also involve romance. And she knows just the golden alien male she’s interested in, or rather the two males she can’t stop thinking about. But, despite telling her they don’t mind sharing she refuses to come between brothers…no matter how sexy that idea sounds.

Let’s start this review with my favourite quote from this book:

“Mire, I’ve been enjoying getting to know you and Gile both, but I’m not going to come between brothers,” she says, pushing ineffectually at my chest.

“If you do not wish to be between us we can keep things separate. First Gile, then me,” I tell her, running my fingers through her hair. “I, too, enjoy privacy at times.”

“Somehow I do not feel like we are having the same conversation,”

Much like the above quote, this book was funny and sexy. We have our human heroine Mel, who is a mother hen of the human women and is trying to make a place for herself in her new home. This includes a little romance, but when she realises both Gile and his brother Mire are interested in her and don’t mind sharing it takes her a little time to acclimatise to the idea of having them both.

I loved seeing the courtship with the brothers and Mel, it managed to be both funny and incredibly sweet as they both try and help each other get time with Mel. As for Mel, I found hesitation to dive into anything with both of them relatable, I think diving into an unusual (for a human woman!) relationship set up would definitely take a little thought beforehand.

Tracy Lauren is become one of my favourite sci fi romance authors. Her romances are always a lot of fun and packed with some action and adventure as well as lots of delicious sexy times. It’s a perfect mix.

Would have liked more growth from MMCs

I was excited for this installment since the golden boys are adorable and have serious issues to work through. I’m a sucker for scars. So much of this book was focusing on Mel and her hang ups and so little emphasis was put on the MMCs integrating and getting support from Mel.
I understand why the focus was on Mel’s growth, since she’s been the consummate caregiver on Beacon. She needs a break - a safe space to decompress and not feel responsible. But relationships need balance, and I felt like this one just switched the gender of who was carrying the burdens, instead of having each partner work. This isn’t to say the Mel doesn’t try to be helpful. She is pathologically a people pleaser, but the needs she addressed in her romantic relationships were shallow.
However, the triad were adorable together and have excellent sexy rapport. I enjoyed the conspiracy theorists in the book, and have to say it’s probably one of the most accurate responses to this kind of trauma I’ve seen.

Spice: 3.5/5

Triggers: discussion of slavery and trafficking, violence

Gile, Mire, and Mel are up next in the romance department. Mel's got some issues. Mire's got some issues. And Gile is...well, he's pretty easy going in the issues department, so at least they have that going for them.

One of their biggest hurdles is Mel coming to terms with being in a relationship with two aliens. Well, it's not the alien part that's the problem. It's the two part. Because it's been ingrained that two is one too many and she has to figure things out in her head before they can make a go of it.

The guys? They're cool with them as a threesome. Well, they're cool with the three of them together. If Mire wasn't so closed off because of past events (not of a romantic nature, simply the "I had to watch my brother die and it really blew and I don't want to put myself in the position of having to experience that sort of heartache again" nature), they probably would have barreled through Mel's objections even faster. Like I said, Mire had a few issues to work through. But they get there. Eventually.

Meanwhile, there's tension among the humans and the abducted women are trying to find their place in this new world. A quick hop off-planet, a fight or two, and some sexy times with two hunky aliens. GOOD STUFF!

Gimmie more!

It took 6 days but I read everything I could find by Tracy Lauren.
Wow! Her descriptors allow your mind to get totally wrapped up in the movie playing in your head. From the scenery to the intimate moments I totally got sucked in. Her character's are tough, intelligent and believable survivors. The hero's are just that, but maybe not packaged in the usual way.
Thank you Tracy for sharing your wonderful, scary, thrilling and sexy imagination with us!
I will be watching. I will be waiting.

I've Never Read A Reverse Harem Before...

I read this after reading the holiday novella which showed Holly and Goddard getting their HEA and really have more of a glimpse at Mire and Gile. I was really intrigued by them and liked reading more about them and see how they are with their mate. I have somehow managed to not read a reverse harem or polyamorous love story because I just didn't understand how it would work, does someone get jealous? Mel was really relatable in her thoughts and her worries and I felt they all handled the whole thing really well and made it palatable. I don't know if I will read more from this series because it feels like you need to read the other books to get a better picture of the world the author has built and after getting a glimpse at some of the other characters I don't really like their personalities and given the state of the world, I don't want to have to deal with Gabby and her venom any more. But I really liked this book otherwise!

Good book

I liked the characters ,most are strong people except maybe the racist. Who doesn't realize she's an alien. I get her behavior on some level. One of her friends got carried off by the red king. red King could've at least let Val call so her friends know she's okay. The only real issue I had was when Mal has sex with the guys the first time(individually) She told them to stop, they didn't. They weren't violent about it but that doesn't matter, don't means stop. I expected more out of them. They don't have a biological bond that removes thier agency, so that was nice. Kinda surprised none of the humans told Mal that polyamory exists among humans on earth.

Finally! A likeable story with likeable characters. Mels hangouts were normal and understandable and didn't take away from her overall character. There wasn't overwhelming cowardice or bravery, just absolutely normal doubts and fears. Our brothers were a delight, so different, yet both incredible in their own way. Sweethearts to swoon over. And story was truly enjoyable as well.

This is the first book in series that doesn't have hyper quick ending and I was grateful for it.

Enjoyable read, nice writing, relatable characters. Recommend to alien romance lovers. Pity it can't be read as a standalone.

Interesting story with complex characters

This book held my interest as it was a strong, character driven story. I loved the love story that develops and how it builds streams it goes. The Actions felt natural and the story had some exciting elements too that were also well written

When two golden hulks set their eyes on you

Reverse harem is not often done in alien romance novels and the introduction of a new Alien culture and all was awesome. We get more dynamics and the fact that not all humans are happy go lucky is a nice realistic touch to the world building in the series. I'll be keeping my eye out for the next book!

Another Great Story!

Finally, Mire's and Gile's story!! I'm so happy they have their own story and path to happiness. Well thought out and well written story. The characters are real, solid personalities and I really like the overlap with the other books in this series. I can't wait for Allison's book!!!

Great read

Melody such a caregiver, but at the same time worried about what others thought too much, even at the expense of her own happiness. More and Gile made her recognize things about herself and face them, and that's what good mates do. But that Gaby is going to make Beacon he'll instead of a home if she's not dealt with. I can't wait for the next book. I love this series.

Page turner

I have been in a reading slump but was happy to jump back into this series. I related so much to Mel. She is a fixer. Her character really interacted with everyone so she gave a clear picture of where everyone was as far as development. She also got it in with her admirers. A good read!

Why love one when you can love both?

I was a little disappointed when this book was about someone we hadn’t heard about before. But I LOVE the story. Tracy Lauren is easily one of my favorite SyFy romance authors. She’s up there with Ruby Dixon in my mind. Keep these beauties coming

What a ride! With “Alien Bond” we continue on the planet Elysia. We follow Mel and her 2 Solvolians, Gile and Mire. From the beginning, these 3 have danced around each other. I’m so happy for them to finally be the family that they deserve to be!

💯 KINDLE UNLIMITED

I love Scifi romance and MFM triangles normally, but found this book to be more on the lines of 'Lord Of The Flies' and a h who wants to be a martyr. I'm giving it 3 stars because at the end she did seem to get her act together.

The story and plot were good my only issue is that the female MC seems to be trying to solve everyone’s problems just because she runs a support group but claims she is not the leader of it. I drove me a little wild with how many times that came up.
