In the beginning of the book Junie B. Jones gets dumped by her boyfriend Ricardo. Junie thinks this is the worst thing in the world. When she goes home and tells her mom, her mom says she is too young to have a boyfriend. Junie thinks she is a mature adult so throughout the book she talks about how the things she does are adult like. Junie's mom tells her that sometimes is better to be single. As Junie takes her nightly bath her mom tells her about her Aunt Flo's wedding. The next day when Junie tells her friends they ask if she is going to be the flower girl. Junie lies and tells them yes. Once Junie gets home she calls her Aunt Flo and tells her that she is going to be the flower girl. Little did Junie know that they had already chosen Bo to be the flower girl. Junie becomes depressed until they make her the backup flower girl. The day of the wedding Junie tries to steal petals from Bo's basket as she is walking down the aisle. This creates a huge scene in the middle of the wedding. During the reception Junie and Bo make up and become friends.
Junie is a sassy little girl. She thinks everyone revolves around her and that she is always right. Junie pretends that she is mature when she is really a child. She always makes a fuss when things don't go her way. Junie is a very hyper and social child. She needs to be disciplined more often.
I give this book 3 stars. It was a good children's book. I thought it was very funny. It was also very accurately written from a child's perspective. The book was a good length for children. It also had an important moral to the story. I gave it 3 stars because I think since it's a children's book Junie should be punished more often. I feel whenever Junie does naughty things it gives children the impression that is okay and funny. I would recommend this book to children ages 5-9. I think girls would enjoy this book more than boys.

This is a good book from the Junie B. Jones series. She is invited to a wedding and gets really excited about being the flower girl until she finds out that they've already picked someone else. She gets to be the alternate instead. Ms. Park really does a good job of describing the excitement of a 5 year old during a wedding; wearing a fancy dress, shiny new shoes (that hurt her feet!), the boring wedding ceremony and the fun of the reception. Our girls really enjoyed this story.

So, I feel like Junie B should’ve just been allowed to be the flower girl. Just my two cents. I’m glad her and Bo were friends at the end but it was kinda thoughtless of Aunt Flo not to think of Junie first when picking a flower girl.

I like this book because Junie B. took off her shoes and her tights at the wedding and it made me feel funny and it was VERY funny!

March 28, 2024This is the most nostalgic Junie B. for me. My mom found the book at a library and got it for me when I was going to be the flower girl for an older brother's wedding, and then my new sister-in-law gave me the box set of the first 8 Junie B. books, plus this one. I never did understand why Junie B. wanted to be the flower girl so bad, I wasn't particularly impressed with my experience. But then, I've never been a normal child. 🤣 But even so, I love Junie B. and I'm happy for this book giving me the wonderful world that is Junie B. books.

In this book, Junie B. Jones is playing with her friends Lucille and Grace, when suddenly Junie B. Jones's boyfriend Ricardo chases the new girl at school named Thelma. After school Junie tells her mother about Ricardo and everything that happened, but mother said that little girls are too young to have boyfriends. Dad tells her the same thing. Later Junie's mother tells her that her Aunt Flo is getting married to a man named Joe. The next morning at school Junie tells Lucille and Grace about her Aunt Flo's wedding. Lucille asks Junie if shes going to be the flower girl Junie says, "yes". Then Lucille teaches Junie how to throw the flower petals and Grace teaches her how to walk without tripping. When Junie gets home she goes to the kitchen and gets her mother's address book and takes it to her Grandpa Miller Junie tells him to tell her Aunt Flo's number so Junie can tell her the good news, but he doesn't. So Junie goes to her mother's room with the address book in hers arms and gets on her mother's bed puts the address book down gets the telephone opens the address book and goes to the Ms, because her Aunt's last name is Miller like her grandpas. She dials the number and Aunt Flo answers the phone Junie tells her the news and her Aunt Flo tells her that they already picked a flower girl Joe's little sister Bo. Aunt Flo tells her that she can be the alternate flower girl. Junie, her mother, and her father go to the wedding Junie meets Bo. Bo gives her two flower petals and in the end become friends. Then Bo tells Junie that she will call her sometime and Junie tells Bo that she will write her a letter, but first she will have to learn how to spell more words and Bo will have to learn how to read. I liked her dress, but I don't like the grammar in this book.

She isn't the flower girl - she's the substitute flower girl. It's interesting that there's a character in the book called Bo. It turns into a happy ending and that's really cool. So yeah, you should read it if you have time. BOOM!!!

Junie B. is a character and the perfect person about whom to read when one does cross-the-country virtual story time with one's grandchild who is just barely beyond Junie's kindergarten adventures. It's on a challenging enough level to make the first grader stretch, but full of interesting and silly enough shenanigans to keep her interested. A chapter a day for a couple of weeks (she reads a page, then I read a page) was a great bonding experience. We're going to work our way through the Junie B. series!

This was the first chapter book I read aloud to my 3 year old daughter and she loved it! She got to be a flower girl at my brother’s wedding so I knew it was a book that she could relate to and understand what’s going on. So cute!

Cute and fun story about a little girl Junie being in a wedding. Kids should be kids because you’re only little for so long! That’s the message this book conveys while being funny and cute simultaneously. A good read for the little ones.

I give this book a three out of five stars, because I think it is one of the better books out of the series. I think that this book is funny since Junie is such a sassy girl. I also can relate to this book since I wanted to be a flower girl for my uncles wedding, but I did not get picked and I was so mad.
Plot:
In the beginning of this book Junie's boyfriend, Ricardo, breaks up with her and she is heartbroken until her mom tells her that her aunt Flo is getting married. Junie is so excited and cannot wait to tell all of her friends about it. The next day, Junie comes flying into the classroom telling everyone that she is going to be in a wedding. All of her friends start bragging about how they have been flower girls so Junie lies and says she is going to be one too. When Junie gets home that night, she calls her aunt Flo and tells her she will be the flower girl. When her aunt tells her that someone else is already doing it, Junie gets really mad and jealous until finally her aunt Flo says she can be the backup. When the wedding finally comes, Junie is very excited because she gets her very own outfit which is a pretty white dress. While Junie and the other flower girl, Bo, are walking down the aisle, Junie gets jealous and starts taking flowers out of Bo's basket and makes a huge scene in the middle of the wedding. Junie's family gets mad at her,but in the end Junie and Bo make up and become friends.
Characterization: Junie Jones is the main character in this book and is a very interesting kid. Junie is a very emotional person who can go from being furious to being happy in a matter of minutes. If she wants something her way she will most likely get it her way no matter how crazy it is.
Setting:
This book takes place in Junie's first grade year. It is in Modern times since she rides the bus to school. Most of the book takes place in Junie's small town which the book never mentions where it is. Also, part of the book is taken place at aunt Flo's wedding.
Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to anyone through the ages of five and ten. I think kids this age would like this book more since it is told from the point of view of a kid around that age. I also would recommend this book to girls over boys since the main character is a girl.

Barbara Park's Junie B. Jones is (almost) a Flower Girl is a funny and hilarious edition to the rest of the Junie B. Jones series. In this book, Junie B. find out her Aunt Flo is getting married. She automatically assumes that because she is Aunt Flo's favorite niece that she will automatically get to be the flower girl. She even tells her friends she is going to be the flower girl, before talking to her aunt. After school, Junie B. decides to take it upon herself to call her Aunt Flo and inform her she is going to be the flower girl, well Junie B. is then told that someone else has already been picked to be the flower girl, her fiance Joe's little sister, Flo. Well after finding that out, Junie B. Is bummed beyond belief, she is disappointed that she doesn't get to be the flower girl, and on top of that she gets huge trouble for calling her aunt without permission. After her disappointment and getting in trouble, her Aunt Flo calls her and tells her they decided she could be the alternate flower girl if anything should happen to Bo. Well in the end Junie B. still tries to be the flower girl, but you will have to read through the book and find out what happens in the end. will Junie B. get in even more trouble? Or will things turnout ok?
Throughout the book, there are a few illustrations. Denise Brunkus is the illustrator of the pictures throughout the Junie B. Jones books. I really enjoyed reading “Junie B. Jones is (Almost) a Flower Girl”. It was written by Barbara Park. This story is about a young girl, Junie, who wants to be a flower girl in her Aunt's wedding. Her friends all told her that they got to be a flower girl in a wedding, so Junie wants to, too. Turns out that there is someone else that already holds that position as flower girl in the wedding. Junie is very upset and has to be the extra flower girl instead. When it comes to the day of the wedding, Junie makes a big fuss and tries to steal the place of the other flower girl. After the whole thing settles down, Junie learns to enjoy her life as it is, and to not try and grow up too fast.
The main character in this story is Junie. She is a nice little girl and very curious. Aunt Flo is nice and kind. Bo is the girl that got to be the flower girl. She is a kind girl and behaves well. There is also Junie’s parents.
The setting of the story is based on present day and is a fictional story. The scenes in the book are Junie’s house, school, and the church.

Junie B. Jones Is (Almost) a Flower Girl is about a girl who is in first grade and she sees her boyfriend chasing a new girl at recess. After she confronts Ricardo, he tells her they should be chasing other people. Junie starts crying and is comforted by her teacher. At home her parents say the same thing her teacher said. Later she is told she will be in a wedding as a flower girl. Her friends show her the ropes on how to be a flower girl. Junie calls her aunt and tells her she wants to be the flower girl, but they already picked someone else. Junie is upset but is comforted knowing she can serve as the back up if needed. At the reception Junie and the flowergirl end up becoming friends at the end.
I would recommend this book to any age and gender because it’s a really funny book and will make you laugh. It is an easy book to read too.
