This was a really sweet read. As a Beers fan I actually saved this book to read last of the June BSB books because I was looking forward to it the most. I do have to admit that Beers last handful of book have been hit or miss for me, but after the positive early reviews I had a lot of hope for this one and I’m glad to say it hit my expectations. I found myself enjoying this book from almost page one, and to me this is the Beers that I enjoy.

I’m a big fan of books with musicians or actors; I just really like celebrity romances. This was a celebrity romance with a 10 year age-gap thrown in. Sophie (29) is a famous singer with already a long career. When her manager/father figure dies, Sophie finds herself unsettled and making public mistakes. Dana (39) is hired by the record label to become Sophie’s new manager and publicist. Can Dana do her job when sparks start to fly?

This is my idea of a perfect beach read. It’s just a really sweet, feel good romance. This book does have conflict to keep the story moving, but not the kind of miscommunication-angst that can make you pull your hair out. It just really is the perfect summer vacation read and I can’t imagine anyone not coming away from this with a big smile on their face.

This is not really a deep read. While Sophie is sad about losing her father figure, I didn’t even notice if they mentioned how he died. There is also talk and a few phone appearances of Sophie’s neglectful mother, but that too doesn’t go deep and disappointingly has no resolution. It almost felt like a mini side storyline that Beers started but just decided not to finish. Part of me does wish Beers would have dug into her characters more, made them deeper. But there is a place for light hearted fluffy books too, and sometimes they hit the spot just like this one did.

If you are looking for a sweet, feel good romance, than this book is for you. Beers’ wrote a couple of delightful characters that are very easy to like, in a book that is very readable. This is the second book in a row by Beers that I have enjoyed so I hope that means lots of great new books to come.

An ARC was given to me for a honest review.

This was a very good read! Georgia Beers is an exceptional writer that pulls you in! The dialogue between the characters was amazing, the story line was very solid and most importantly the romance was so heartwarming! Both MCs were very likable and the chemistry was HOT!
The blurb grabbed me from the beginning, because who isn’t a sucker of celebrity romance? :) But it wasn’t that straight forward celebrity it was deeper than that with some interesting complications in the middle!
I fell in love with one of the MCs family during a thanksgiving break, I just wished their role was a bit more in the overall plot!
This is a 4.5 rounded up to 5! I think for some reason, I wanted a bit more! I just didn’t want the story to end (it wasn’t a rushed ending, but I felt at some parts the author could’ve given us a bit more).
Some spelling mistakes were there but I couldn’t care less because the story was very solid!
I would definitely recommend this, I think it’s one of the best that Georgia Beers has written lately!

5 Stars for this pleasant romance. I really enjoyed it. Both main characters were likable and you want to root for them. It’s a perfect beach read to kick off the summer. Fear of Falling just may supplant Starting from Scratch as my favorite Georgia Beers’ book.

Sophie James is a 29 year old mega superstar who has been in the spotlight since she was a teenager. Sophie’s music is adult mainstream pop, appealing to an older demographic. Her longtime manager, Ray has died and for the first time Sophie has to put on her big girl panties. Throughout her career she and her manager had fostered a good girl reputation, always avoiding any controversies and tabloid fodder. But now on her own she has landed on the tabloids with footage of her drunk and having a “profanity laden meltdown”.

Dana Landon is a talent manager who works for Sophie’s record label, Miracle Records and she is sent to get Sophie back on track, out of the tabloids and recording her newest album of her usual ballads. But what maybe more difficult is reining in their mutual attraction to each other.

Sophie adored Ray and she grew to depend on him, always agreeing to his advice and guidance. How can she complain? She is a superstar; her voice is considered one of the best, if not the best, which sold a lot of records. But now she wants her new album to include songs she has written and for it to be a bit edgier, which could attract a younger audience but also alienate her older fans. Beers did a remarkable job, portraying Sophie’s loneliness, her growth and for the first time making her own decisions.

I do have a couple of quibbles. We learn about Sophie’s relationship with her mother, but I felt nothing was resolved other than Sophie’s implied resignation that “It is what it is”. So I guess that counts. I did have to Google the difference between a Talent Agent (D’Angelo) and a Talent Manager (Ray and Dana). So FYI – an agent is licensed by the state and can pitch, negotiate and sign employment contracts. A manager is not licensed and they cannot negotiate deals. A manager offers career guidance, sometimes day to day.

So if you like books with celebrities and a hot romance between strong and beautiful women, get this book.

I always enjoy Georgia Beers’ books but not always on the same level. Some are okay (a really good okay) but others are a lot more than that. I’m happy to say Fear of Falling falls in the latter category.

If I had to summarize it, I’d say it’s about finding your true self, in more ways than one.

At 29, Sophie James is an internationally known singer and has been for more than a decade. Since she was « discovered » as a teenager by the man who would become her manager, Ray. When we meet her, she’s doing her best to get over Ray’s sudden death. In the process, she begins to find ways to make her own choices, both in her professional and private life. When she first meets her, Dana Landon, her new manager, expects her to be yet another diva but quickly realizes that Sophie is in fact a really sweet person. The attraction appears very quickly, and while Sophie doesn’t recognize it at first for what it is, Dana is immediately aware, both of how attracted she is and of the trouble it might create for them both.

Even though the characters do seem to fall in love rather fast, it didn’t bother me at all. Georgia Beers is very good at describing feelings and how her characters grow into those feelings, making it all completely believable.

An authentic love story. This book gave me the feels entirely throughout.

Sophie is a famous adult contemporary musician who has been in some trouble recently as she deals with the death of her manager.

Dana works for Sophie's record label and is assigned to clean up her reputation and mange her going forward.

This was surprisingly deep. It deals with the aftermath of loss, family struggles, loneliness, self discovery, age gap issues, rejection, self worth, etc. And all of those things really make these characters come to life in a way that makes you root for them to heal and find happiness.

I adored both Sophie and Dana. Their attraction and pull to each other was palpable. It was refreshing that we were shown all of this without much discussion or lengthy inner exposition. Beers had me with the under table foot caressing. So cute! Rakish glances, eye connections, and subtle touches. This book shined at illustrating their connection.

YES, I was so frustrated with Dana for the continuous wavering between Sophie and her ex. But this was written in a way that I could fully understand her trepidation of choosing between new and exciting or comfort and familiarity.

I really loved this. It is going to my favorites.

I recommend for those who love romance, love triangles, the music industry, love songs, and attics.

Sophie James has been an internationally renowned singer since she was a teenager. When her lifelong manager dies, she finds herself lost and missing him as the father figure he was. As a substitute manager, Sophie’s record company sends Dana Landon who is resourceful, hard-working and gorgeous. While their attraction develops, Sophie has ideas to change her career which clashes with the recording company’s plans. Will Sophie and Dana be able to avoid conflict and have their happily ever after?

Georgia Beers is a consummated lesbian author whose work rarely disappoints and ‘Fear of falling’ is no exception. This is an entertaining and romantic lesbian love story based on the always winning formula of the celebrity falling for the girl next door (or the other way around). Ms. Beers fans will be happy to see the marks of her style: well-written dialogues, sizzling chemistry, the right amount of angst and a little bit of humour. The novel deals with different issues such as bereavement, family, coming out and the price of fame.

I read this book when it was released in 2019 and now listened to the audiobook narrated by Lori Prince. I have to say that the association between Georgia Beers and Lori Prince is wonderful for the lesfic world. Ms. Prince gets the lightness tone of this story perfectly thanks to her playful narration but also nails the more serious parts. She hasn’t got so many different voices in her repertoire like, say Abby Craden or Angela Dawe, but she makes both leads distinctive and equally likable.

My appreciation of this book didn’t change in audiobook format, I detected the same issues that I had when I read it. My criticism then was that the subplot around Dana’s ex felt a bit dragged out and, in my opinion, weakened the main characters’ relationship. Additionally, the descriptions of the music recording business seemed a bit simplified and naive, but it’s not that relevant in the context of a lesbian romance. Both issues were minor and didn’t deter me from thoroughly enjoying the story.

Overall, an entertaining lesbian celebrity romance audiobook that won’t disappoint Georgia Beers’ fans. 4 stars for both the story and the narration.

Sophie James is known worldwide. The singer is known for her amazing ballads, soulful voice and selling records at lightning speed. Everyone looking from the outside would think she lives the dream life. The truth is, she is basically all alone other than the companionship of two friends, her longtime stylist and makeup artist. Her mother sees her as a cash cow and the only person she could look to as a loving parent figure, her long-time manager Ray, has suddenly passed away. Sophie is beginning to realize that she needs to forge her own life and start making music that means something to her.

Dana Landon has just been assigned Sophie as her new client. She will be the singer’s PR specialist as well as her manager. She could not be less excited. Sophie has gone a bit off the rails since Ray’s death and the last thing Dana needs is a superstar that has public drunken escapades she has to clean up. Dana really doesn’t think too highly of the “diva” she now represents.

What I really adored about this book is how the main characters, Sophie and Dana, played off each other. The unhurried pace lets them develop from a business relationship, then to friends, and then finally to lovers. Beers sets a nice pace, not too long, not too short and just enough heat to keep you begging for more. It’s the little moments or intimacy between Dana and Sophie that really hook you. You the reader are right there for every step and misstep on their journey. Georgia Beers always delivers amazing stories. This is a book that will charm you and leave you with a smile. Not a bad way to spend your time.

Another good romance from Beers. Sophie James is a 29-year-old who has been famous for her voice since she was in her teens but being photographed totally drunk in public a couple of times is causing some negative publicity. Her long-time manager died suddenly and she feels lost without his presence. To assist her, the record label she’s contracted to assigns her a manager and PR person. Dana Landon is not only blown away by Sophie’s looks but also by her very gentle and pleasant demeanour.

This is a much gentler novel than Beers’ last one but not quite as engaging. While I enjoyed reading this, I often don’t feel a strong connection with characters when they are celebrities because they feel a little removed from my reality. Sophie’s loneliness is poignant and she’s pretty down-to-earth as far as celebrity characters go. I felt a little disappointed by how little time they spent together and wished they had spent more time talking.

On the whole it’s a pleasant read which is surprisingly low on tension and angst. Three and a half stars rounded up.

Ms. Beer's newest offering, Fear of Falling, is a short, sweet read without much angst or intense drama. Though the content is nothing new and the story line doesn't hold any surprises, I still was able to enjoy it for what it was: a light book that will most likely make you smile at the end.

MC Sophie is an adult contemporary singer who wants to change her image, and it must be pointed out immediately that at one point in the story, she finished a song with her hands held high and I couldn't help but think of good ol' Celine, queen of the hands held high:

Hey, I'm Canadian so I have to plug Celine at some point.

Anyway, Sophie lost her long time manager due to death, and isn't coping so well. She needs a new manager. She also wants to do her own writing and wear leather pants and drinks lots of wine, and her record company freaks out and wants her to tow the line. Enter new hot tamale manager MC Dana to make sure she stays on track. You already know the sparks are gonna fly, and the two fall for each other and Sophie gets on track alright. On track to Sextown in

I liked both MCs well enough, though neither had the depth I like to see in characters. They were....nice. Gorgeous, talented women in the 29-39 age range and actually acted like it, solid dialogue between them as well and they confronted issues when they came up rather than leave them and get mad without talking (I hate that in a story). They were not very complicated, though Sophie has to make the big decision on whether or not to "come out" as a celebrity musician and what the aftermath could be. There is an added character of Dana's ex-girlfriend who comes in the picture. Dana doesn't act much like a manager, though arranges some talk shows once in awhile, calms down the big boss man, and kind of offers guidance to Sophie along the way in this big transition in her career, but again, mostly guides her into her pants. No complaints from me though, people, I likes me a good sex scene, though was hoping for a bit more intimacy in this one.

Overall a 3/5 for me, as Ms. Beers writes very well and I will always read her new books, but she has done stronger ones for sure. I would still recommend this because I did like it, but it wasn't earth shattering. A solid choice for a light read for a plane ride or the beach. May be much more impacting if you listen to Celine Dion while reading to conjure up your favourite adult contemporary star (you know you love her).

4 ⭐️ Entertaining story but the ex-girlfriend was annoying and I didn’t understand why Dana didn’t put a stop to her new advances immeditely.
4 ⭐️ for Lori Price as narrator. Some voices didn’t quite fit the person. Had some issues with some female characters who sounded to much male for my liking.

I’m a big Beers fan, but some of her latest books haven’t hit the mark for me, so it’s been a bit up and down, but I loved this one.

MC Sophie is a famous singer whose agent has just passed away. He was a father figure to her, so this hits her hard. MC Dana is a manager/publicist who is assigned to take Sophie on after an ill advised night out.

Both MCs are attracted to each other right away, but the romance is a slow burn with them getting to know each other in ways that unfold fairly naturally and are very sweet. There’s a handful of secondary characters (besties of both MCs and Dana’s family) who aren’t particularly fleshed out but add to the story as needed. Both women are interesting and actually talk to each other, no stupid miscommunications or contrived breakups here. There’s also an age difference, which I always enjoy.

I also liked that even though this is Sophie’s first relationship with a woman, she knows what she wants and there’s no back and forth and melodrama about her feelings for Dana, Sophie’s circumstances are such that it’s entirely plausible that she hasn’t experienced this before, but she also old enough to know what she wants and just goes with it, which I found refreshing.

The only quibble I had was Dana’s ex, that storyline dragged on for too long and made Dana look a bit weak with the to-ing and fro-ing (though I was glad Beers didn’t utilise another trope by making the ex the real baddie).

All in all though, this is a nice, sweet romance and is right up there with my favourite Beers books. 4 stars.

I thought her previous novel was my favorite one, but I think it is this one. At this rate her most recent book will always be my favorite, so maybe it will be easier for me to say they're all my favorite :)

As expected, Georgia Beers gives us a wonderful romance with smart and charming characters. I recommend this one to anyone looking for a good slow burn romance.

And now, I sit quietly waiting for the next Georgia Beers novel 😊

This is the story about the worldwide famous singer Sophie James. When her manager and somewhat father figure Ray passes away, he's replaced with a new manager, Dana Landon. Dana and Sophie's relationship quickly developes into a friendship and soon into something more.

This is my second Georgia Beers book but I knew while reading the first one that she was quickly gonna become a favorite author of mine.

Everything about her books are fantastic, the characters, the chemistry, the setting, the writing. I enjoyed this book a lot, both the characters were very likable and the chemistry between them was great. It had everything a good romance novel should have.

I'm not always a fan of the typical ''annoying'' ex trope but in this book it was fine. It ended well and it didn't ruin the story like it easily can in other cases.

The only thing I felt was missing was I hoped the author would've gone more in depth about the main character Sophie's relationship with her mother. We knew they didn't have the strongest relationship and that her mother wasn't super involved in Sophie's life but I would've still liked to see a little more of it. I would've liked to maybe see the mother's reaction to her coming out and everything but other than that it was great.

I would definently recommend this to anyone and everyone. It's a very easy and easy but also captivating and amazing read. I know I'll be re-reading this in the future.

I thank you, Georgia Beers, for distracting me from the shakiness of life to give me some good ol' fashioned lesfic romance. Normally, I'd inhale a Beers book in no time. However, life gets at you and you find yourself just staring at words.

So, just recently, when I'm back to reading about love again, this was a lovely palate cleanser. Beers fans, look for the usual femme lovers, stylishness, humorous moments, spiciness, and good feels that she's so great at delivering.

I didn't develop a full-blown crush on either of the main characters (Sophie James, an A-list pop singer and her new manager, Dana), sadly. I love, love, love celebrity stories, but as they go, one's always waiting for the other shoe to drop if they involve coming out to the world. Laura, the ex, was layered but oh man, I was happy when she was out of the picture. Oh, and as I've mentioned: I'd appreciate expressing diversity of characters in a more...natural way than Fear of Falling attempted with the Korean American character. Just a tip.

Solid book. About a 3.4, I'd say. Enjoyed, but didn't put me on cloud nine like previous books. However, I'm an avid Beers follower, so I'll be jumping on her next title like clockwork!

I have read a few books by Georgia Beers, some I really loved and of course some I didn't. This one falls in the category of really loved. I dont know what it is but I am a sucker for coming out celebrity romances that have pretty much all likable characters. Now I am not saying that Laura is per se likable but the fact that she didn't do one thing put her in a slightly different light for me and honestly, this becomes like a series and a story is written about her with these characters I would totally jump on it...but I digress.
So, this is about Sophie James (singer extraordinaire) and Dana Landon (manger miracle worker). I will say that I did feel Dana's role as manager was not largely exploited and I feel that may have helped show how big a deal she really was in the industry. Although, now that I think about it whenver Dana was spotlighted it was about her personal life and whenever Sophie was it was more about her career. Perhaps that was what we are suppose to see? Huh...why do I feel like I am back in high school English analyzing books.
Regardless, this is by far one of my favorite book by Beers. I loved the characters, wished the secondary characters were in there more because they were great, enjoyed watching Sophie grow as more than an artist, read my way to good ending of possibilities. Read it.

An excellent read. Fear of Falling is a sweet and heartwarming romance between superstar Sophie James and her new manager/publicist Dana Landon. Sophie who in the past had been well protected/sheltered by her former manager, Ray, who had passed on and who was a father figure to her, suddenly found herself in a world where she needs to now be more dependent on herself. She went off the rail following Ray’s demise and along came Dana who was sent by Sophie’s record company to put her back on track. There’s a hint of insta-love between Sophie and Dana. Not too much drama and just a touch of angst when an ex came back and tried to make things right.

Overall, FOF is a well-written celebrity romance which I really enjoyed! 5 ⭐️

Georgia Beers has never disappointed me with any of her contemporary romances. I can always count on a wonderfully written and touching story when I open any of her books. Fear of Falling is another perfect example of Ms. Beers’ talent as an author.

International superstar singer Sophie James has been working as a celebrity since she was fourteen years old, and for all that time, she had Ray, her manager to take care of her. When Ray passes away, Sophie feels totally alone. Ray was more than a manager; he was a father figure and shield from the rest of the world for Sophie. When her record company hires a new manager/publicist for her, Sophie is unsure if she can work with anyone else in Ray’s position, but then she meets Dana Landon, her new manager.  There is definitely an attraction between the two. Dana is going to have her hands full, though, because Sophie wants to stretch her wings a bit, both with her singing and with her life.

I loved this book. The story just felt right to me. That is the only way I know to describe the feeling I had reading this tale. The characters and their actions felt real. There were a couple of times I wanted to shake Dana and yell at her to open her eyes and see what she could have. I became invested in the story and the characters. Of course this is another example of Ms. Beers’ exceptional writing skills.

This story also has a good solid ending. One of the few criticisms I’ve ever had of Ms. Beers’ books is that she sometimes leaves us with an open ending to the story, almost like it is not finished. Not with this one. I loved the ending and I totally enjoyed this book.

If you are a lover of contemporary romance, you definitely want to read Fear of Falling.

Reading a romance novel by Georgia Beers is like tucking into comfort food after a stressful day at work. You know your cravings will be satisfied and you’ll end your meal with a contented smile on your face.

Sophie is ready for a shake up in both her professional and personal life. It’s up to her new manager Dana to keep her in line, cranking out the ballads her fans and recording label have come to expect. It doesn’t take long before their professional relationship begins to veer into the personal. Can the realities of celebrity, controlling execs and manipulative ex-girlfriends stand in the way of their HEA?

This is a quick read which leaves little time for Sophie and Dana to connect, sort out their attraction and come to terms with their relationship. It’s easy to love Sophie,a star since her teens, surprisingly composed and mature considering the lack of parental support she has received in her life. Dana, ten years her senior seems immature by comparison. She has a solid support system of friends and relatives yet allows her ex, Laura to lead her around by her nose. My frustration with Dana and the modern twist on the usual make out and break up romance novel expectations made their HEA that much sweeter.

Lovely escapist read which will leave a smile on your face. Nice to have a coming out romance released during Pride month.

It’s a given that I will read anything Georgia Beers publishes. She one of my favorite lesfic authors.

This book was quite enjoyable. I tend to like celebrity romances so I had a good feeling going in to this one.

Although there were bumps along the way this was a feel good romance with minimal angst. I’ve been on an angst run recently so this was a nice change.

The two mains clearly had chemistry and their interactions were a lot a fun to read. Their romance escalated at a good pace without anything seeming to be rushed.

I would have liked to see them together for a little longer at the end of the book, but overall this was a solid read that I would recommend.

This was such a heartwarming and sweet romance. If you are looking for a feel-good and relatively low-angst read, this is definitely one to pick up. This is another manager-musician romance (because I am honestly binging all the celebrity romance books this year) and it did it well. It had that lightly “forbidden” feel, it had a strong focus on empowering Sophie as her own artist/person rather than being controlled by men in her life and also touched on overcoming grief.

While I enjoyed the romance, the sweet tropes (like bed sharing) and the friendships in this novel, it didn’t stand out for me. While I definitely saw the chemistry and budding romance between Dana and Sophie, I wasn’t sold completely on their love and emotional connection. It just went a little too fast once they started admitting their physical feelings. Despite this, I enjoyed Georgia Beer’s writing and am looking forward to reading more from her.

I like a lot of Beers’ books and some I love. This one I enjoyed. It’s a nice light read, well written and lovely characters. Not too much substance, but that was ok as I don’t always need that. I noticed that I am getting I little bit tired of exes coming back and making a play for their former lover. I don’t mind that in second chance novels of course, but I don’t like it much if they are mainly there as an obstacle on the way of to a new relationship of the (other) main characters. Recommend this book as a nice light holiday read. 4 stars

I love Dana and Sophie. They’re so well written and relatable that I just want to hang out with them, eating pizza on Sophie’s couch and checking out the view from her windows. While I enjoyed the whole book, I especially ate up every scene that had the two of them together because they’re so damn likeable.

Fear of Falling was my 16th Georgia Beers. I had taken a wee break after Calendar Girl because I was losing the love for the stories she was producing. This one, set in the music world seemed like a safe bet (celeb stories usually do well).

And it was an enjoyable read. Beers is capable of writing a solid romance with plenty of fluff and a bit of spice. Did she bring something new and exciting to the table? Not really. But the true romance fans will lap it all up. The story was fairly predictable but because it’s packaged so nice we forgive her. Not much angst and no scene-stealing dogs this time.

f/f explicit

Themes: celeb, suffered a loss, sheltered youth, greedy mom, thanksgiving with the family, an ex with an agenda, coming out, no pets.

Entertainers coming out can be hard emotionally and physically on the wallet. I thought the read was realistic and did not focus heavily on the financial repercussions but the emotions. The entertainment business can be lonely and the decision to let your heart take the lead made for an interesting story. There was much to enjoy about this read as the story unfolds and Dana Landon and Sophie James find themselves gravitating toward each other. Both characters are likeable and cautious as they navigate the next steps.

A solid 4-star story. It lacks, in my opinion, a powerful ending. But the romance between the famous singer and her new manager is nice enough and good enough. And, of course, very well written. As usual by Georgia Beers.

This is the 5th book I have read from Beers and I really liked it. I would say it's likely my second favorite Beers book - Blend is still my favorite.

I am a sucker for a good Celebrity romance and this one is right up my alley. Sophie James has been a singing and touring since she was 16. Her manager / father figure sudden dies of a heart attack. During the few months after she has been photographed or recorded being drunk and being helped to walk. To get a handle on this her record label assigns Dana Landon to be her manager and publicist. I am not sure if I would classify this as a slow burn or not but what I can tell you is that there is a ton of chemistry between the MC's. Sophie hasn't really dated a ton in her past just because of her hectic schedule and after meeting Dana she often questions her attraction to Dana. Dana is an out Lesbian, so she is not bothered by her attraction but knows she should not mix business with pleasure.

There are so many things I really liked about Fear of Falling. I loved the Celebrity aspect. I also liked the chemistry between the MCs. I felt that even though they initially have a business relationship, they take the time to get to know one another and become friends. This romance is also a self discovery and the willingness to accept who you are. Sophie also grows in the months after her manager dies. She never really made any decisions for herself and now is the time for her to step up to the plate and become the woman she wants to be. I just really liked this one. Oh and the sex scene...HOT! I do wish I could have seen more of their chemistry play out in the bedroom. I think that is the one thing missing from this one...more sex.

I will rate this one a sold 4.25 stars maybe even 4.5.
