The Aces' Sons #5

Craving Rose

Rate this book
I, Rose Hawthorne, have crap taste in men.

But, who could blame me, really?

When the stories of how your dad and uncles raised hell before settling down are legendary, it was all too easy to see Prince Charming everywhere, believing that if a man loved me enough, he’d change.

What a load of garbage.

I was tired of the game, almost as tired as I was of being the only single adult at every family barbecue.

But you know what they say, the moment you stop looking, the right one finds you.

All I can say is....YESSSSSSS.

I read this right after reading what felt like a slew of mediocre books. I was starting to think it was me and that anything I picked up was going to miss the mark. Thankfully, this book proved me wrong. And, of course it did. It's Nicole-fucking-Jacquelyn, people. I have loved and adored NJ books since I cracked open the first Aces book years ago.

I love all the characters.
I love NJ's version of the MC world.
I love the way NJ writes.

And this book had everything I love about NJ books in spades.

The characters were well-fleshed out, the chemistry between the H and the h was off the charts, and the side plot(s) were solid. I even enjoyed the prologue-to-flashback beginning and was unruffled by the dead-ex dilemma that I usually loathe on a level reserved only for warm beer and waking up early.

NJ has a way of writing things so that they seem authentic and REAL. It's funny how the things that don't bother some of us in real life bother us in our romance books, i.e., ex-loves, ex-girlfriends, dead exes, the H or h being in love with someone prior to meeting the H or h, etc. After all, in real life, it would be unrealistic to meet an American single father in their 30's who hadn't either been in love or in a long term relationship. But we don't always want reality in romance - that's why we all read it, after all. But NJ has the ability to take that romance framework we love and place it around those realistic details in way that make it seem like the best of both worlds. In other words, she paints such a visceral, real picture, that she can make me accept and love details that are turn-offs when done by a lot of other authors. If any of that makes sense.

The only reason I didn't give this thing a truly full 5 stars (not that it really matters) is because the ending was a bit a abrupt (as in very) and, to add insult to injury, there was no epilogue - at ALL.

Other than that, my only other complaint is that it went by too fast and ended too soon. I enjoyed every single page and can't wait for the next book by Ms. Jacquelyn.

If I had to pick a favorite biker series, Nicole Jacquelyn's Aces MC series is in my top 3 along with Madeline Sheehan and Kristen Ashley. I'm obsessed with this series and I eagerly devour every new book as soon as I can get my greedy hands on it. Craving Rose was fast paced, tender and sexy, the perfect blend of romance and scary biker danger. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

There was one little detail in this book that had me knocking down a star... and I'll probably catch flack for even criticizing it because it's not even that serious. But the declaration of love between these characters happened too fast for my taste and I struggled with that for a hot minute. I thought it would've packed a bigger punch if they'd held out a bit longer. But I also get it. I do. These characters were so obviously PERFECT together from the start. I know it should've worked. I'm just more of a slow burning romance girl over insta-love so it's really just my own hang up.

Either way, this book was really great. The vast Aces MC family tree continues to grow and change and face obstacle after obstacle and I'm just a glutton for all of it. Mack and Rose's book is perfectly peppered with angst and conflict, it's steamy and addictively romantic, and the drama never stops. I'm obsessed with this series and I can not wait to see what's next.

3.5 stars for Rose & Mack + .5 stars for the love I have for the Ace's World (especially the OGs) ....

So, this was probably not exactly up to par with other books I have given 4 star ratings, BUT looking at it compared to the others in this *slightly disappointing. sigh.* spin-off series it was pretty good. Of course it had the some of the recurring problems I've felt with all The Aces' Sons books like: lack of character/relationship development, too fast - paced plot, not the heart the original series gave. However, I felt it wasn't so noticeable in Craving Rose. I felt more for this couple than I've felt for others recently, and while I do wish there was more character development and realistic growth for the couple, I didn't mind it in this one so much.

Honestly, I just really love this MC world and will continue to read it until it stops coming out, so that has to say something, right? There are so many great elements like love, forgiveness, family and friendship that stick out to me and are done so well in these books. There are very few series that have kept me so invested in every single character, and while I haven't absolutely loved them all, I appreciate the bigger story going on. Rose and Mack were fun and a great fit for one another. I enjoyed their story, and based on the (very slight) cliffhanger at the end of the book I am excited to see what *hopefully* comes next for this series! So many hinted couples to look forward to. I really don't know what it is, but I love these books a lot.

First book from this author and I wasn't impressed... Maybe because its the fifth book of an MC series I can't relate much to the characters.
They immediately fell in love I did not feel fhe build up of their story.

Holy Smokes!! It's been a hot minute since Nicole Jacquelyn released a new book but when she comes back...she sure does it in style!! I absolutely LOVED every minute of Rose and Mack's story! It has everything I love in a good biker romance. Plenty of action...some scummy bad guys, a disgusting excuse for a man EX, a wonderful supportive family and a swoon worthy hero who has flaws, but learns to overcome them for love. Rose was awesome...funny sense of playfulness and humor that lets her "hang with the boys" with no problem, but a sweet, loving nature that hides a very tough and capable woman underneath. This book got me all kinds of excited and I can't wait for whatever this author puts out next! Get it if you love MC romance and especially if you have read other books in this series! =)

I enjoyed this. It follows the same pattern as the previous books in the series but it was an easy read and was fun. Slightly disappointed by the ending but I think it was purely to add mystery for CeeCee’s book, which I guess will be the next in the series. Definitely going to be reading that!

Oh my God!!!!!!! I got an ARC of Craving Rose and I have to say I loved it. Rose is so fierce and sweet; a little bit of Callie and a little bit of Farrah all mixed into the perfect combination. The storyline kept you on edge, it had me laughing and wanting to cry all at the same time. You will not be disappointed and when your done your going to reread the whole series just so you can read them in order and finish with Rose. Great job Nicole!!!!! Now when is CeeCee’s book coming? Lol!!!!

Little Rose was always choosing the wrong men. They just didn’t know what to do with her sass and spirit, until Mack. He was older with experience and when he noticed Rose, all bets were off. He wanted her, he grabbed her, he loved her until he disappointed her.

All Rose wanted was to love and be loved like her dad loved her mom. She found that in Mack until she didn’t.

It’s hard to overcome fear. It’s hard to give up a dream, but relationships are about compromise. When these two were in serious danger, hearts changed and love won.

The story started off strong with the suspenseful prologue but everything went south from there onwards because we get slung right back into the past.

Rose and Mack are kidnapped and the perpetuators have been torturing the latter. I was surprised at how fast the author managed to build suspense and show us the chemistry/snippets of the couple-moments prior to, enough for me to be rooting for the two. So I was really at lost as to why the book wasted a good chunk of it showing the pair get together because snooze! It isn’t until 70% into the book are we back to them being kidnapped. I mean yeah okay time was spent showing their hangups, their fallout and subsequent resolution but I guess I was just thrown off and disappointed because the prologue gave me different expectations. Mack was probably the one who changed the most but I wouldn’t call it character development, more like realisation. I did like the portrayal of the motorcycle club life and how drama wasn't around the club groupies or such.

Would have rated this book a bit higher but what a pathetic epilogue that was also. The ending just felt rushed. There was still so much that could have been delved into better like the after-kidnap effect on Rose. But noooope because we wasted too many damn pages to show the two getting together and down and dirty, we have to rush through the ending. UGHHHH. The epilogue was spent kinda halfass addressing Rose’s actions to escape and how it would impact her in future but the focus was more shifted to club drama, to set up the premise for what I guess is going to be the next book in this series ughhh. Disappointing through and through.

5 Prankster Stars

Nicole Jacquelyn's, Craving Rose is the 5th book in the The Aces' Sons series. I have been on the edge of my sit waiting for this release and no joke it did not let me down.

From the start with an action-packed prologue that had me not wanting to put this book down I was hooked.

Rose is a loyal, loving and fierce woman that you don't want to mess with. She is one kick ass lady, the kind of heroine that I love. Mack is older and has a daughter, not to mention is a part of the Aces MC. Someone she should stay far away from. But harmless practical tricks have them crossing paths and getting closer.

Craving Rose has wonderful leads, full of love and family and with all of Jacquelyn's books loads of familiar characters. I loved falling back into the Aces' Son series and didn't want this book to end.

👏25%👏

by that point we were just being intoduced to the characters and were told they werent close or anything, just friendly, but all of a sudden after just a bit of pranking they hooked up? (not long later theyre exclusive). like when did that happen? i get this is a series so maybe their build up has been done in the previous one, but i dun wanna read em so i felt like i was missing smth

howeverrr. what i love bout nicole jacq’s books (that ive read so far) are that the couple could be all lovey dovey one chapter and cursed tf outta each other the next. they be fucking on one page and full on fighting later on. so the angst are always there n i aint complaining bout those back & forth. overall (ofc i skimmed few but) i guess i enjoyed it?

ps. the prologue was great i got a lil chills

4.5 stars. Great addition to the series. I love the group of characters this author invented in the first and second generation series of The Aces. The sense of family and some very strong love stories are included in every book. Rose is a kick ass heroine and even though Mack had some issues with trust he came through big in the end.

Sweet Sassy Rose

Great addition to the series and it's on KU! Rose is as tough as they come and Mack is her perfect match. There's plenty of stuff going on around them before they get to have their HEA. Great job!

***** 5 Tangled Up In You Stars *****

I am so sad this book is over. I would have enjoyed reading another 200 pages about Mack and Rose. This book is classic Nicole Jacquelyn at her best. She is such a good writer and creates realistic, memorable characters. Her books are gritty and raw and always leave me wanting more.

I did have a few small issues with the book, but they are personal preferences of mine and may not bother others too much. I wish NJ would have given more detailed descriptions of Mack and Rose. In the prologue, we learn Mack has blue eyes. At the end of the book we learn Rose has brown eyes. But I have no other descriptive info about either of them besides Mack is a big guy. That's it. No hair color, height, etc. I enjoy books best when I have a clear vision of people and places.

I also felt Mack and Rose had a bit of insta love. They had known each other for a long time but didn't really interact, then suddenly there's attraction and it seemed that attraction turned almost instantly into a serious relationship. There was a bit of jumping in time too - a lot of "a few months later", "several weeks went by" etc. Again, these are just small issues for me personally and nothing that really took too much away from how much I loved this book.

Mack is a delicious hero. A good father, a good MAN. He respects and takes care of what is his. He was mature, dependable and grounded and when he was wrong he admitted it. He was authoritative when he needed to be but laid back at other times. I just adored him. Rose was a little abrasive at times but that's just her personality and I could tell she was younger than Mack because of her at times somewhat immature actions and lack of impulse control. But she did grow up over the course of the book and became a solid, more equal partner for Mack. I really, really enjoyed Craving Roses and cannot wait til NJ writes more MC books!! Whether it's Cece's book or another MC series, I will read just about anything Nicole puts out!

4.5 Stars

I loved biker’s books – the danger, the brotherhood, the family, and the loyalty are some of the things that attracted me. There were not a lot of MC series that I would follow from the very beginning to the latest, but I’m a true Aces MC groupie who followed them from The Aces to The Aces' Sons. I’ve waited so long for Craving Rose . Nicole never disappoints and delivers another fast-paced, sexy and consuming biker romance. The spellbinding and action-packed prologue already captured my attention from the first page and it had me burning to dive into the story.

Watching how protective she got over Lily while they were growing up, we know Rose was fierce, loyal and caring. We know little about Mack from previous books, but as I get to know him better, I cannot help but like him a lot because he was devoted and endearing. While they have known each other forever, their connection was unexpected but welcomed. They were perfect for each other. Their relationship was easy, natural, fun filled and sweet. Unfortunately, they had to face some club drama and personal obstacles before reaching their happily ever after.

I was wonderful to hang with the Ace family again. I truly enjoyed this heartwarming and thrilling story and I hope we get more books from this world soon.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

**3.5/4 stars**

Craving Rose was a deep-dive into a captivating and consuming love story. Jacquelyn’s latest started with a gripping prologue that truly set the background and pace for the entire novel and had me anxious for the final page. With its wonderful leads and a whole host of familiar characters, readers will love falling back into the Aces series and a cast that feels truly like family.

Though there was an overabundance of too much inner thought—and little to no scene setting or character descriptions—with a general lack of succinctness in the writing, it was still easy to fall for Rose’s character with her caring heart and inner strength. I really loved the set-up and build to her relationship and connection with Mack and how utterly romantic it was. There was something special about his words and actions toward her that easily pulls at your heartstrings and further endears you to him more than you already were. It was sweet and sexy and heartwarming with just the right amount of action to make for a story that was hard to put down and stop thinking about it. And it was a reminder why I love the MC genre so wholeheartedly and, in turn, this author’s version that I have been following since 2013.

Filled with heart and love and family, Craving Rose was an enjoyable read with visceral characters that had me devouring it in a day. I wish the writing had been a bit more polished and more involved outside of character thought, but I still look forward to what love story will come next in this series.

Wow I LOVED THIS!!!

Honestly reading the prologue I was a little turned off, and immediately turned to goodreads and read some of my friends reviews to try to remind myself why I wanted to read this book lol. Luckily once we got into the actual story I couldn't put this book down to save my life. These characters were so well flushed out, they had realistic trackable reactions to things and grew in realistic ways it was amazing.

Also I'm either learning to tolerate angst better or this was just done in the perfect way for me but even the drama/angst didn't bother me at all! In fact I actually read almost an identical plot point with another book (and I had to double check I wasn't accidentally re-reading an old book), but Nicole Jacquelyn did it waaaaaaay better and resolved it in a better more dynamic way as well.

This was such an interesting take on an MC romance because it was such a minor part of the book and yet still present enough to put the characters in certain situations that regular people wouldn't get into. I loved literally everything about this book truly, I'll definitely be re-reading again in the future. My only gripe is ironally also what I liked about the book - it was too short! I wanted to spend WAY more time with Rose and Mack but at the same time I loved the pace of the book and wouldn't have wanted it to slow down at all for the sake of length. What a hard life I lead.

Also classic Jam, I read what's probably the best book in the series first -___- I feel like I won't like the other characters as much as I loved Rose but maybe I'll have to read the previous books regardless just because I love this authors style so much!
