When Reed Brennan arrived at Easton Academy, she entered a world of privilege she had never known. The other students have everything: trust funds, private planes—and horrible secrets. When Reed’s new crush is found dead in the woods, Reed embarks on a fight for her life as one crazy person after another wants her out of Easton or dead. No one said private school was easy.
Now, the entire Private collection is available in one eBook and includes a total of sixteen books: all fourteen books in the series as well as the two standalone prequels, Last Christmas and The Book of Spells.
Kate Brian is the author of the SHADOWLANDS TRILOGY (SHADOWLANDS, HEREAFTER & ENDLESS), as well as the New York Times bestselling PRIVATE and PRIVILEGE series, and the wildly popular MEGAN MEADE'S GUIDE TO THE MCGOWAN BOYS. She also writes teen fiction under the name Kieran Scott.
Perfect for fans of Pretty Little Liars, and if you like YA mysteries, kidnappings, murders and secret societies. The villains are almost never who you expected it to be which is something I love so much.
Individual book ratings: Private ★★★★☆ Private is basically here to set the stage. We meet most of the main characters, learn the importance of Billings and just how awful the Billings Girls are. Invitation Only ★★★★★ Here we learn about Legacy, which is a super exclusive party in NYC and Reed does everything she can to get in, and finally we have our first murder. Untouchable ★★★★☆ Confessions ★★★★★ For the next two books there are so many twists and turns while trying to solve the murder. Reed’s new boyfriend is also a person of interest. I really loved the way this plot wrapped up, there’s an attempted murder, people are arrested and/or sent to mental hospitals, and this wraps up Reed’s first semester at Easton Academy. Inner Circle ★★★★★ Legacy ★★★★★ Ambition★★★★☆ Revelation ★★★★★ These four books deal with the first semester of Reeds’s junior year, we have another death at Easton, Reed becomes president of Billings, Noelle is back, there are a lot of new girls, and the most unexpected villain that still breaks my heart. The school board also threatens to shut down Billings and the girls fight to keep their home. Last Christmas: A Private Christmas ★★★★★ This is an Ariana prequel that I won’t say anything about other than the fact that I’m in love with this book. Paradise Lost ★★★★★ Suspicion ★★★★★ These next two books take place in St. Barts during Christmas vacation, we meet new people but also get reunited with the OG Billings Girls and we are in for a wild ride (including a kidnapping of course!) Scandal ★★★★★ Vanished ★★★★★ After returning to Easton from X-mas break, Billings House is gone and the girls are separated. Reed forms a secret society. The Semi-Downfall of Private I say semi-downfall because I still enjoyed the series. Up ‘till now, we were reading a YA contemporary series, but all of a sudden we find ourselves dealing with the supernatural. Now, I LOVE the supernatural but it just felt so anti-climatic. It was like I was reading a completely different series. But this new plot fit in so well with the original plot that I ended up loving it just as much. The Book of Spells ★★★☆☆ (prequel that takes place in 1915 and I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Also, it’s not at all necessary to read this.) Ominous ★★★★☆ Vengeance ★★★☆☆ The ending really did disappoint me so much. Reed has overall been an amazing MC but in this book she was just over the top annoying. I did enjoy certain parts of it though.
Loved the series, and I know I’ll be rereading it again sometime soon. Also, I can’t wait to read Privilege, a Private spinoff series!
i was confused a few times and the whole spellbook thing was a weird unnecessary turn of events, but that doesnt take away that i loved the whole series.
So I’ve read all the books, and this series feels split into two parts: books 1-10 and books 11-14. Books 1-10 are good, crazy, and indulgent. Books 11-14 are inconsistent, unbelievable, and just plain weird. The whole “magic witches” thing is 100% a route that should not have been taken, and that last book with the craziest culprit reveals? Not buying it. So books 1-10 get 4 stars out of of sheer guilty pleasure, and the last four books get maybe 1 star out of pity.
Man oh man , I have read this series so many times and it never gets old! This is by far one of my all time favorite book series. No matter how many times your read it , you will always be suspired.
