Rate this book
Joan Matcham has just discovered that she's pregnant by a man who died ninety years Abraham Lincoln. His brief sojourn to the Illinois of 1955 ended, he has returned to his own time and place, leaving Joan to deal with the consequences of their night together. Even as friendship, impending motherhood, and a new love revive Joan, she is haunted by recurring visions of the last week of Lincoln's life. Good Friday, the sequel to Abraham A Novel Life, is the second of author Tony Wolk's novels published by Ooligan Press, the teaching press at Portland State University. A remarkable work, Good Friday is sure to leave readers eagerly anticipating the final installment of Wolk's Lincoln trilogy.

Where were you the day Lincoln died? You probably don’t know, but Joan Matcham absolutely did. She was busy being pregnant with Lincoln’s baby! In 1955! You may be asking yourself, what are you talking about? I do not know but that’s the plot of this book. Good Friday follows on the heels of Tony Wolk’s speculative romance, Lincoln: a Novel Life. Good Friday however takes place after the romance and time-traveling Lincoln and focuses more on the pregnancy of Joan, the main character. This time however, Joan has a stalker.

I struggled to enjoy this book because I just keep asking myself, “why?” Why did Lincoln need this book and who is it for? I guess I’m reading it so they got me.

Side note, my favorite part of the book is the foreword written by Honest Abe himself about how amazingly Wolk captured this little known part of his life…
