the bitter end is a micro-chap poetry collection of about 52 poems! It originally started out as a series intended for instagram ONLY but plenty of people asked me to self-publish it! let me be these poems are mostly short & (bitter)sweet, meant to be easily consumed, easily read by a casual scroller. if you're looking for an easy, uncomplicated read, then i would highly recommend this book for you! if you'd rather something more complex, my next & much longer collection will be released soon!
I think I've said this before-I'm not usually a fan of collections about a specific love/relationship/heartbreak. But there are exceptions, of course, and this is one of them. Something about Faye's use of language really struck me and, even though this wasn't meant to be particularly heartwarming poetry, it made me smile.
A short but very sweet and well-written collection of poetry on relationships. Looking for a lunch break that is relatable and also approachable for teen readers? Check The Bitter End out on KU!
i wish i could show you all the magic i keep in my fingertips maybe then you’d let me cast a spell on you to make you stay - would it be a blessing or a curse?
kaliane faye tells a good story. the imagery, the flow, the words, the heart. all of it. i am no stranger to unrequited love. one-sided love. love where it seems as if it's all you giving and them taking then leaving you with nothing. this book describes exactly how it feels. what parts make you bitter and what parts make you brave. what parts make you whole and what parts feel like literal thorns in your sides. faye has grown so much as a poet and it's so refreshing to experience this first hand with all of her new books.
this is a beautiful and bittersweet poetry book about young love and heartbreak. i love the poems that end with a powerful line in bold--they are so strong and thought-provoking. faye's longer pieces were gorgeously written as well. after reading this, i can't wait for her next collection that is coming this year!
this book reminded me of a long term relationship that i had in high school. it was devastating, heartbreaking and it brought me to a point in life where i started to blame and punish myself for decisions that were not mine. this small collection of poems is a mixture of great visual appeal, and a great reminiscent of the past for many of us alike.

This is a short collection by Kaliane that really shines within the 50-odd pages it lasts. You feel the warmth and the almost tragic feel of the poems; an unrequited love hurts. Those of us who have been through it know what it is like, and Kaliane neatly crafts poems that borders on the emotions of anger, hurt, love, want and desire.
Her next book is set to be a full poetry book and I cannot wait to read it.
The Bitter End by Kaliane Faye was a short poetry collection about the feelings of bitterness with a relationship that never had the time to bloom. Correction: it had the time but not the courage. At least, that was my takeaway.
This collection was not for me. The style wasn’t my favorite and I kept longing for more of the story to be told, but because the pieces were so short, everything fell flat. It was like the first handful of chapters were given to you and you had the expectation that the rest would be too, but they never were, so you’re just left with dissatisfaction and a never answered cliffhanger. It sucked, basically. I wanted closure, but it seems like the author didn’t get closure either, so maybe it was a point being made.
I’m not sure I would recommend this book to anyone, unless they were fond of the modern short poetry style, even though there was a handful of things I did enjoy, one being the way some poems connected to each other.
There are no page numbers, but it’s about the tenth and the eleventh poem in. The tenth poems last line says “shitty truth or dare questions” which then brought over and into poem eleven being set up as a truth or dare game. I didn’t really care for the content of the poems, more so I just enjoyed the connection and the formatting, I thought it was nice and clever.
I also did enjoy some poems and their lines, like the one poem featured on the back of the book:
“I’m only bitter because your name sounds better on my tongue than anyone else’s ever did.”
It’s also one of the more longer-ish poems and I actually highlighted the subtitle, too, as it ended with:
“We never stood a fucking chance against the rest of the world – and that’s not fair.”
It was probably my favorite piece from the whole collection, with the way it held subtle desperation and anger to have had what they couldn’t: a relationship, despite knowingly being in love with one another.
Another line I liked, was the ending one to the third poem, “your name… I repeated it… until it felt like home inside my mouth.”
I did give this book a three out of five stars, because as I said, it just wasn’t for me. I’m very intrigued to see and read any future projects Kaliane Faye brings forth; if you take a look at the writing she’s been posting, you can clearly see the growth and improvement. But this collection was lacking, and I probably wouldn’t reread it.
The bitter end had me bawling my eyes out. I read this collection all in one sitting. the poetry is light, yet deep. she takes you down through the pages of the book as if you, the reader is on the other end of a broken hearted conversation with an ex-lover. With simple words, they cut you down. So magical, yet fierce. Let the world shake in the seams of the spine of the entire book as you read. As I have read. Love is a crazy ride, it has to go out like a (bitter) taste in your mouth if it ends badly. sometimes people make you feel so much for them and rip you off with their short reasons for a goodbye. I felt that with this book. It is like a hang up. a static at the end of the other line. but i loved it just the same. one of my favorite poems in the book is "i wish i could show you all the magic i keep in my fingertips, maybe then you 'd let me cast a spell on you to make you stay. would it be a blessing or a curse?" this book is a blessing for me and i recommend this book to anyone and everyone who desire a trip through a relationship they had or never had and trust, that this poetry collection, will do just that.
"the bitter end" is a short read, but not in a bad way; it's the perfect length for the purpose it serves. It doesn't leave you feeling cheated, because the quantity of its contents matches the quality story and poetry within. The language is heavy in density, yet light; the poetry is complex and continuous, yet simultaneously simple. This book is definitely a great and quick read for anyone interested in contemporary poetry, but looking for something a little bit different in a world where everything has slowly but surely become the same. Five stars; I can't wait to see what the author comes up with next.
I loved this book from the beginning all the way to the bitter end (insert forced laughter). But forreal I loved reading every bit and really felt each piece. Kaliane Faye is amazing at writing (like I still cant get over how good the pieces in this book are) and I can't wait to read more of her work in the future!
I RECEIVED AN ARC IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW!
this book is absolutely stunning. Kaliane Faye weaves such an incredible story about the pain of heartbreak, and with her words creates such beautiful poetry that anyone who has been heartbroken before, or is going through heartbreak, can relate to. Her choice of words only add to the beauty of this bitter sweet book. I loved it.
the bitter end is, simply put, a raw and remarkable read. beautifully stunning metaphors and similes are used throughout and the truth hits hard with most if not all of the poems. an emotional read that relates to readers. looking forward to more from this author! <3
This book is a short read and is beautifully written. I pretty much highlighted the whole book. I read each page over and over again. Definitely one of my favorites.
This was pretty good! It was a chapbook so it was fairly short, but because if it I'm going to read the author's full collection (which is also on Kindle Unlimited).
