was only able to make it through 11 chapters before having to put it down. Bernard attempts to paint the apostolic church in a light that would make one think that all other denominations have everything wrong. He arrogantly writes how the apostolic church is more closely following the
Bible and lists what he says are distinctions between the churches when they really aren't at all. Anyone who has actually spent time in or studying other denominations (outside of biased apostolic materials) will easily see the false facts in this book. The book is very misleading and almost seems more like false propaganda. On the separate note the chapters are extremely repetitive in nature with very little factual information.

From an overall content standpoint, 5 stars. I learned a lot about the modern Apostolic movement as well as Apostolic history and development in the second and third centuries.

I didn’t care as much for the fact that this was a COLLECTION of many previously published articles and sermons, and thus lacked a coherent flow and became somewhat repetitive at times. Also it is very exclusive to the UPCI and the demographics listed within do not contain any data from other Oneness Apostolic organizations.

Still, the importance of knowing what we believe and why we believe it cannot be overstated, and this book definitely makes that clear.

I really wanted to give this book 5 stars simply because I love and believe in the ministry of David Bernard. I am an Apostolic Pentecostal and am working on being licensed with the United Pentecostal church. So I am essentially the target audience for a book like this.

However, I feel that the title of this book is a tad misleading. It should say, "United Pentecostal Church International Minister in a Postmodern World" because it seemed that is what the author spoke about most often. Don't get me wrong, I love the UPCI. I simply feel that the book loses some of the relevance it could have because it talks more about a subset of the Apostolic movement and not the Apostolic movement at large.

I also was not a fan of every chapter being taken from a Pentecostal Foward article from some point in time. It made the book have less of the author's genuine perspective and voice. And in a moment where we do have the author's voice, it is a copy of what was preached at several General Conferences.

All in all, it was a great book. My complaints are nitpicky and personal to me. It says a lot of important things that every minister should know. This book can be a blessing to your ministry if you allow it to be. This book is a reminder that in these last days we must continue to believe in scripture above all else, and not lose our Apostolic Identity.
