You Are Enough: Revealing the Soul to Discover Your Power, Potential, and Possibility – A National Bestseller on Healing Anxiety and Embracing Wholeness

Rate this book
NATIONAL BESTSELLER A spiritual thought-leader and featured guest on Oprah’s SuperSoul Sunday helps us learn to quiet fear and anxiety and discover the powerful wholeness that exists within us all in this inspiring and affirmative guide.

Achieving equilibrium in today’s age of anxiety can seem like a near-impossible—even frivolous—task. Panache Desai offers a refreshing, surprisingly unusual approach to meet the challenges of the modern moment and heal the fractured self it produces. For Desai, the soul—whole, unbroken, at peace, and one with the life source—isn’t a destination. It already exists within each of us, just waiting to be revealed. It is not something we have to work to develop—it is our birthright. And when we are in union with our soul, we experience a personal evolution that not only illuminates our individual cosmic purpose but helps us to engage the sense of purpose and presence necessary to remake the world itself. You Are Enough offers a straightforward, non-judgmental, and approachable process of revealing the soul, of coming into alignment and harmony with our true selves. Combining personal narrative, clear and inspiring philosophy, and prescriptive practices, it reveals that the way through is the way in—that the way through fear, self-doubt, and anxiety is accepting and embracing dissonance and emotional and psychological blockages, so that we can approach our lives and the world from a perspective that understands our fears are not who we are. Desai’s goal is to guide readers through radical self-acceptance toward a life of ultimate peace and fulfillment. Beautifully designed, this enlightening volume by a fresh voice shows us that while life may have caused us to forget our power, potential, light, and love, they are always there, just waiting to be discovered.

Born and raised in London, England, Panache has always known he was different. Even at a young age, he possessed an innate kindness and love rarely experienced from one so young. He was recognized by visitors and teachers as gifted. By adolescence he possessed a profound awareness that he had come to do something special.

During his final year at university, Panache began to feel an inner yearning to leave everything behind and be on retreat. So for six intense months he began a life altering schedule of meditation and prayer. When he finally emerged, he was a different man.

Determined to fulfill his purpose, he told his mother that it was time for him to go into the world and share what he had come to do. Panache moved to America in 2001 and during his travels he met many gifted spiritual teachers and leaders. Miraculously, each had expected his arrival and he learned from their tutelage and wisdom. At this time a powerful expansion occurred within him and he began to remember his own gifts and abilities.

His journey culminated in 2003 when Panache had a profound and life-altering experience of our (mankind’s) true potential:

"Our potential is infinite - every man, woman, father, son, mother, daughter, is infinite - every person is infinite. Our potential is only ever limited in the way that we say it is - the way we allow it to be."

And along with this experience came an ability to help people to move through their sadness, anger, or fear - to once again come back to their infinite potential.

I really, really wanted to like this book. It was well written and had a lot of great content, but it wasn't terribly substantial in the self-help realm. I assumed from the title of the book that I would learn exactly how to truly grasp that I am enough (something we all truly struggle with, even if we're not willing to admit it to ourselves yet) and I don't feel like I really got anything in the way of a daily practice or mindset shift to help me actually get to the point where I truly am enough. Perhaps in the $3,000 Bootcamp you're encouraged (multiple times) to sign up for when you sign up for the book bonuses I might get what I'm looking for, but I certainly didn't find it in this book. I read TONS of self-help, personal and professional development books and I feel that this book left me truly wanting the "answer" to a deeply burning question and I didn't really get it in the end.

I’m sure this book will help some, if not most, of the people who read it. It just did not resonate with me. This may say more about me than it does the book. I can accept that.

I think I underlined almost every sentence in this book, I loved it all so much! I really resonated with his message of surrender and acceptance- the revolutionary idea that you don't need self-improvement because you are already whole just the way you are. If you haven't seen Panache speak live google him now. His love and sweetness radiates through every word he speaks.

I'm glad i have decided to try this genre for once and I'm contemplating to continue this because.. why not? So many takeaways from this book:

1. You don't have to change your authentic self just to get validation from others.

2. Your emotions are valid, your anger, your love, your sadness, your anxiety is all part of who you are but they do not control you. You allow yourself to feel them but you are not defined by them.

3. All the people you meet in life will play a role in your expansion and you grow and learn from these roles.

4. Every thing that happens on your life has something to do with your expansion and evolution. Resistance will only cause suffering.

5. You love and accept all that you are. You are who God made you to be.

There are so much more! I feel like this is the kind of book that you want to be engraved to your core. This is special. This is a gift.

This book took me on a journey and made me stop in my tracks, grab the sticky notes, think deeply and make instant shifts in thinking that brought me comfort. I love exploring new words and Panache Desai taught me an important one: samadhi. Samadhi is this beautiful idea that we can find goodness, connection and purpose honoring our authentic selves. There were so many lessons in this book from how and why certain things trigger us, to why we need to step back to actually find ourselves. I’m still thinking about this book.

This book spoke to me in so many ways. Not your typical self help book. Yes it speaks to you repeatedly and tells you you are enough but it also just had this other layer of love support and a true connection to my soul. I could not put it down. Highly recommend.

I had bought this book when it came out in March 2020 but didn't start reading until I'd joined Panache's daily Call to Calm meditations that he offered the world for free beginning March 16, 2020. This book is a great read for these uncertain and unprecedented times. It is an excellent invitation to go within and make quality use of the extra time you may have in your life.
It stresses authenticity, releasing identities, and uncovering your essential self. Many chapters matched things shared on my podcast, Real Men Feel, so I felt a great affinity for the content.

It should be called feel your feelings. It’s simple, it explains why it’s important in the context of how energy works. It has examples to be able to identify yourself as someone who needs to feel their feelings.
There’s not enough meat to rate it higher. I didn’t get into it until chapter 7 at which point i ended up going back to fully read the first 6 chapters instead (i had skimmed them). The way it was written was just off.

I'm not one that reads books like this but I thought why not try it. I suffer from anxiety and depression on a daily basis and it was helpful in ways in how to control certain aspects of fear and anxiety. It was well written and pretty helpful.

Thank you Netgalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was OK. However, I’m also reading his other book, and that one seems clearer as to the steps to take to reach more of a spiritual awakening. This one just seemed rather muddled to me, and it wasn’t clear how everything worked together. I like Desai, but this book just didn’t work very well for me.

A bit of a letdown. A lot of inspirational words without much substance or actionable ideas. Which, I guess is the point but I need SOME direction and less flowery psychobabble.

I almost DNF'd on p7, where the author says:
"...you may even determine that none of this book's content has any relevance to your life - this is the most definitive red flag of them all. Persevere."

If you don't think you need this book, yes you do. Great. I do not respond well to being negged, Desai.

I did, however, persevere (ish - I read up to p35 and skimmed the rest) because part of me thought "Well heck, maybe there is something worthwhile in here? I shouldn't let the breathtaking arrogance of the author put me off some potential insights!"

So I read 28 more pages, during which the author goes on about spirituality and the capital-D Divine in that New Age way that avoids mentioning any specific religion (aside from a couple of quotes from Jesus) because the vaguer the spirituality, the more marketable it is. Oh, and he's had magical powers of empathy since birth. I can only apologise for the headache my irritation must be causing him right now.

At p35 the author decried those of us who use spirituality "to bolster your ego in some way" - he has been called by the universe to help the rest of us reconcile with our authentic selves, but other people are only spiritual to "look cool". Now granted, he didn't say outright that he's the real spiritual deal and everyone else is a phony, but I refer you back to p7 where if you don't agree with him you should.

So at this point I stopped giving it my undivided attention and skimmed it instead. There are a lot of assertions that through embracing your Essential Self you will achieve happiness, but no exercises on how to do this. I feel like self-help books should always have exercises for the reader - it's self-help after all, not sit-there-and-be-helped - but there were only two from what I saw. One was a series of mantras, and one was a set of questions to ask yourself about an event you have trouble letting go of. The rest of the book is a lot of hypothetical situations you might be in, a few anecdotes, and lots of talking about the Essential Self; it put me in mind of a cookbook that tells you all about how great it feels to cook for yourself, tells stories of meals the author has eaten, lists all the types of food that you could, hypothetically, cook, and then has two bland recipes in the middle.

I listened to this on audiobook, read by the author.

I had a difficult time staying focused with this book. I think in part it's because of the cadence at which the author reads the book. It felt rushed and so ideas were presented to me in a hurry. I didn't quite get the chance to sit with them and digest them. So that said, I imagine having a hard copy of this book and reading it would likely help slow down the pace and allow for pauses and contemplation between the ideas presented.

The author also presents a lot of Hindu terms, so at times I felt like this was more a religious approach than a spiritual one. The terms weren't neutral, ie: lots of mentions of "samadhi", etc. I have nothing against hinduism, but I suppose when I picked up this title, I was looking for a more neutral approach to staying connected with a source greater than myself. (ie: the title didn't elude to the Hindi foundations in the book.)

Those criticisms aside, I felt the main message of this book, self-acceptance, was really good and on-point. I especially enjoyed the meditation in Chapter 8 where you repeat to yourself things like "I love and accept my anger." etc. I spend far too much time judging myself for having "negative" feelings and making mistakes. That's what brought me to this book title was because I found myself yet again being self-critical and full of fear of not being "enough".

I selected this book after following Panache Desai and attending a couple of his online meditations that he facilitates everyday during this quarantine period. The meditations and the explanations that follows were very soothing and calming to the soul and to quench this thirst for more, I picked up this book. This is a guidebook for navigating the time we live in. The book is well written and has a lot of good content. However, it lacked the punch required to make it a truly great book and hence the 4 stars for the book. The book talks about the journey of every entity at the soul level and how all of us are conditioned at different levels with deep layers cutting across life times. He talks about how it is important to remove resistance and move with the flow and abandon the ego to truly realize one's potential. You will realize that a lot of the concepts will be familiar for those following the Vedic philosophy. Some more examples and techniques could have given the book the cutting edge. I would recommend this book for people to read. Maybe it didnt resonate with me in the same way as it would for somebody else.

The misses bought me this book bc she knew I haven’t been in the best state of mind and she thought this would help.

Did it help?? Idk lol. I tried to read it with an open mind. The book tends to give a lot of specific examples as to why you feel so anxious, which was kinda annoying. But as I’ve finished the book I find myself going back to some of its mantras. ~~Everything is energy and I can only control myself~~ so maybe it did help?

This is very good. For me it's missing something undefinable that would make it great. But there are passages and wisdom worth remembering, and it is a worthwhile read. The 5 commitments at the end are good as well, although easier said than done. He may want to expand on those in a later book. Recommended.

Thanks very much for the review copy!!

Everything is unfolding to move me into the remembrance of my power, my potential, and my possibility. This will be my new mantra. And on the days when I forget and loose it... I will be gentle with the unfolding of this remembrance. Powerful, powerful message. Loved every page.

What if each of us believed we are enough? What would our world look like? How would it change our everyday interactions?
Many thanks to Panache for this important read!

Excellent book.... first there was "Be here Now", then came "The power of Now" and now it's "You are enough" for the 21st century.... they all point to the same idea of being fully present now. If this is of interest to you I highly recommend it

Everyone needs to read the information in this book.
I read it once and caught some jems. I finished it and started it again right away. The second time I caught a few more jems. I read a chapter a day to digest it all. This is a fantastic book to remind us of who we really are. Enough.

This book was amazing to me! It really delved deep into why we feel like we’re not enough and how to eliminate that type of thinking out of our minds! It went deeper than I ever thought it would for me and it helped me in so many ways and in so many areas of my life!
