Join the political and cultural fight for America’s freedom — and learn how to protect our nation from the leftist agenda — with this essential guide from Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Pete Hegseth.
In American Crusade, Pete Hegseth explores whether the election of President Donald J. Trump was sign of a national rebirth, or instead the final act of a nation that has surrendered to Leftists who demand socialism, globalism, secularism, and politically-correct elitism. Can real America still win? And how?
Hegseth is an old-school patriot who is on a mission to do his part to save our Republic. This book celebrates all that America stands for, while motivating and mustering fellow patriots to stand ready to defend — and save — our great country. As he travels around the country talking to American citizens from all walks of life, Hegseth reveals the common wisdom of average Americans — and how ready they are to join the cultural battlefield. Now is that time, and Hegseth has written the playbook.
American Crusade is written with the same insight, politically incorrect candor, and humor that has made his television show one of the most highly-rated in America.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is the former co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend and a frequent guest co-host for the weekday edition of Fox & Friends. He is also a former Fox News Senior Political Analyst. Pete is an Army veteran of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and was also a guard at Guantanamo Bay. He holds two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantryman’s Badge for his time in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pete graduated from Princeton University in 2003.
I want to come back to this picture later, so remember it:
“We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.” A. Lincoln, 1861
"The other side-the Left-is not our friend. ...We are foes. Our future existence as sons and daughters of freedom requires the satisfaction of a single paramount objective: the categorical defeat of the Left." -P. Hegseth, 2020
This book was everything I thought it would be and more. Look at the cover: you know what you're in for.
Let me start off by pointing out our one place of agreement: America is a great place to live, and to raise a family. I love it here. We've got our problems, but it's not like any of the other places I've lived or visited (Croatia, Haiti, China, Dominican Republic, France, Hungary, Italy, etc...) don't don't have problems equal or worse than ours. We're not limited to one child, (or now two) for instance. We're dealing with racism, but Croatia deals with this, too. And poverty is a problem here, there... everywhere? I loved living in Haiti and going to school there as a child. But they have their problems.
And Hegseth rightly points out that Americans are generous. Here's a place they're number 1: charitable giving.
I love it here.
So this idea that the Left, "hates America" is foreign to me. Hegseth's (and by-and-large the Right's) idea that "THIS IS AMERICA! LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT!" is as troubling, or more troubling to me as most of his criticisms of the Left.
Early on, he says it's not good enough to be partially in favor of America. To be partially American. He comes down hard on the "fifty-fifty Americans." These are the people who aren't taking the Left seriously. Imagine if our soldiers were only 50-50 in the fight against Al Qaeda. And he asks us to, "Ask yourself: What percent of American am I?" (emphasis his).
But the circular reasoning of "America did it, therefore it's justified" is also dangerous, no? America tortured innocent people ... (...or here - released without charge after 14 years) at Guantanamo Bay (where Hegseth was stationed - while this was happening...) It was the Left that was pushing against the policy of torture. In the Senate, of the people who voted against the war in Iraq: 21 were Democrats, 1 was a Republican... and 1 was an Independent. Yes, Vermont. Not Bernie Sanders. In the House, 126 Democrats voted against it, as did 6 Republicans, and one Independent from Vermont.
Remember back to those days: those votes were pegged as Anti-American. But did the Left hate America back then? How many lives has the Iraq War cost? How much money? What percent of you today thinks the Iraq War was a good idea? Are you still 100%? Hegseth says that percent equates to how American you are. I say: hogwash.
It's not the torturing of others that makes America great: it's the right to criticize that policy that makes America great. China's human rights record is atrocious. But the Chinese people can't call it out: here we can. That makes us great. (Hegseth invokes King a lot, which I'll get to. But this: "Somewhere I read that the greatness of America is the right to protest for right.")
So, the very premise of the book is off. But more than that, Hegseth lies throughout. I know he feels like he's waging an all-out war here. (He said so a number of times - advocating violence, and then turning around and saying he wasn't advocating violence, and resorting to a favorite Trumpian tactic of name-calling.) But here's the thing: if you want to be taken seriously as an arbiter of truth, you should start by telling the truth.
No, Democrats are not calling for "post birth abortions." It's an absurd lie. ( Here. Read this) He'd do well to remember that the abortion rate fell the entirety of Obama's presidency, and it's continued to fall under Trump's.
He says, "When a new "hands-free" cell phone bill was passed - which limits Minnesota drivers' cell phone use while driving-a special exception was added: "the use of a scarf or hijab or other items of clothing to hold a device in a hands-free manner" was allowed. I can't tuck my cell phone into my baseball cap, but hijabs are kosher (offense noted)." But here's the thing: he's lying about both: it was never added to the law. And he's allowed to tuck his phone into anything that allows him to be "hands-free." Here, check it out. This is just thinly veiled Islamaphobia, which shows up all over the book - like where he says,
"After a recent trip to the Mall of America, a family member of mine explained in detail how the display outside the women's section of the Macy's department store had three female mannequins, two of which were wearing the Muslim hijab. The Mall of America." (p. 100)
I'm sorry. Is he advocating for more freedom, or less here? Is he saying Muslims can't be American? Is he saying that the Macy's women's department in The Mall of America only has ONE display with only three mannequins? Like, what's expect us to believe here? Anyway, it sounds like his real beef here is with capitalism - because THAT'S the reason those mannequins are there.
He's got lies like these throughout the book - and some aren't lies, exactly... but like, where he says the UN, "hasn't stopped any wars or rogue nuclear programs." But could I just point out that WWIII hasn't happened, where WWII did. The fallacy here is called "survivor bias." And Iran still doesn't have nukes. South Africa did have them, but got rid of them because of the UN... so, there's one that it stopped.
"Have you ever wondered why the public school curriculum isn't full of lessons about entrepreneurship? Have you ever heard a teachers' union threaten to strike unless capitalism was taught and more business owners were invited to share their insights with students?" (p.151) ...Ummm... I took a class, "Real Entrepreneurship" in high school. It was great. This was in Pennsylvania 20 years ago. And here in Indiana, I've been involved with bringing in business leaders - and tradesmen to talk to students about the good, high-paying jobs they can get right here in our community. Apprenticing and getting paid while they're learning. They're probably not protesting about capitalism not being taught... because capitalism is being taught...
And on being a "Constitution person" or "Declaration Person" ...I'm both. (Which he says the Left is not.) I teach both. I have students annotate both. But yes, I think the Constitution should not be left in its original form... I'm good with updating (and removing) the 3/5ths compromise, for instance... I think that was a good thing.
Like I said, this stuff is all throughout - not to mention the strawmen he builds for the Left, and the sweet ad hominem takedowns.
Even with these though, he is constantly inadvertantly making the points the Left is trying to make.
"But Americanism is not only about the flag, it's about freedom. Freedom for all and freedom forever. If the flag stopped representing freedom, I would stop flying it." (p. 58) ...I think this is Kaep's whole point.
"Socialism is also cloaked as "economic justice" or "economic fairness." But what's "fair" about an entire economic system in which average people do all the work and pay someone else lots of money so that a privileged few can be rich?" (p. 147) ...I mean, I hear you and agree... but does this NOT sound exactly like Jeff Bezos to you? Read that quote again. Go ahead. Bezos, right?
Speaking of Capitalism, "Yet, despite knowing this reality, our companies continue to give away American inventions and innovations, only to have them used against us." (p. 105) ...Well, they're not giving them away. They're selling them. For a profit. And if he's calling for the government to disallow the selling of goods or services to another... what's he calling for but authoritarian governmental control on the free market? Remember, it's the evil Left who have been warning us about corporate greed, and how it's going to destroy us all. #MiloMinderbinderUnderstoodCapitalismBest
Or mentioned above: does he want more freedom, or less? Is banning a mannequin wearing a hijab really a pro-freedom stance?
Or stating that Muslims should be banned from wearing them in the House? (There's another faulty analogy for you... "Put a cross on the House floor, and there would be a flurry of lawsuits asserting the establishment of religion. Somali Omar in the Muslim hijab, though? It's considered freedom of expression and female empowerment." (p. 173)... But, they're not like... putting a giant hijab in the middle of the house floor and praying to it, right? Are Representatives not allowed to wear cross lapels? A cross on their necklace? Come on. You see how they're not the same, right?
"From 1970-2018, the combined emissions of the most common air pollutants, including CO2, fell by 74 percent, while the economy grew by 275 percent. Sounds damn good to me-pollution down, economy up. One factor leftists always miss is innovation. Free market creates solutions to problems that prognosticators can never predict and never factor in... Government didn't do these things; innovation did." (p. 193-4) ...But they were FORCED to innovate. By who you ask? THE GOVERNMENT!!! ...I feel like tearing out my hair, but I have none left. Look at the dates he gives in the quotes. Do a quick google search of when the EPA was created. Spoiler: 1970. Kudos to Richard Nixon.
Do you need more reasons why I think this book is not-only one star, but harmful for Americans to read? He's pro-freedom, but says Republicans should gerrymander the **** out of Congressional Districts. "Republican legislatures should draw congressional lines that advantage pro-freedom candidates-and screw Democrats." (308) I mean... he's not even hiding it anymore.
And he constantly calls for "metaphorical" ("Metaphorically, of course, for all the triggered bed wetters.”) He means a metaphorical "charge, close with, and destroy the enemy." He means he'd metaphorically stand in a metaphorical town square in Lexington or bridge in Concord and fire metaphorical bullets at the Left. He meant it metaphorically when he said, "I believe millions of Americans-properly prepared and organized-would do the same." ...We are metaphorically preparing them. "This is not a call to violence; not at all," he says. "It's simply a recognition that freedom-loving Americans will not stand idly by and watch our blessed freedoms be trampled." ...Where'd all the metaphorical talk go?
Or the end... his prediction if Trump loses: "America will decline and die. A national divorce will ensue. Outnumbered freedom lovers will fight back. The military and police, both bastions of freedom-loving patriots, will be forced to make choices. It will not be good. Yes, there will be some form of civil war. It's a horrific scenario that nobody wants, but would be difficult to avoid..." ...Again: where'd all the metaphorical talk go? Look: I'm not going to raise a gun against anyone if Trump wins again - and I LOUDLY condemn anyone who even suggests it. Can't we get the same assurances from the Right if Trump loses? Because I love America, and I love the freedoms we have here. (Like the freedom to not be threatened with Civil War if our guy doesn't win...)
We've moved past this point, but at the beginning I posted a picture of MLK the day before he was shot. Hegseth (like MANY on the Right) invokes his name frequently throughout the book. They want you to focus on his "I Have a Dream Speech" and "Letter from a Birmingham Jail." But they ignore him saying, “We must recognize that we can’t solve our problem now until there is a radical redistribution of economic and political power… this means a revolution of values and other things. We must see now that the evils of racism, economic exploitation and militarism are all tied together… you can’t really get rid of one without getting rid of the others… the whole structure of American life must be changed. America is a hypocritical nation and [we] must put [our] own house in order.” ...Or “We are saying that something is wrong … with capitalism…. There must be better distribution of wealth and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism.” ...Would Hegseth really get behind King today? King - who in 1967 argued for UBI? (Talk about being ahead of your time...) These aren't just cherry-picked quotes: this is who King was. To praise King, and derisively refer to Jesse Jackson as, "...the Left's favorite Reverend" (178) - who cradled King's head, the day he was shot...?
Ask yourself this: If King is alive today, is he singing, "We Have Overcome?" Or is he still singing the old refrain?
So, no. I wasn't a fan of this book. I think the ideas in it are wrong, and dangerous. But, I mean... If you live in Indiana and don't have friends who voted for Trump... do you live in Indiana?
I disagree with pretty much the whole thing, including the premise: we can't be friends.
I listened to AMERICAN CRUSADE as an audio book, so it felt more like a podcast to me. If I had sat and read it I’m not sure how I would have felt about it. It was read by its author, Pete Hegseth, and since its content is about the political and cultural world, it is a natural fit for the audio format.
The book was written in 2019/2020, and it was interesting to see what it had gotten right, and wrong, since that time. Some of the things that Hegseth accurately called out include extreme leftist goals with sex (gender), immigration, and the American border. He nailed it, and the subsequent 4 years have proven that. However, he also got some things very wrong, the funniest example being Kanye West’s Christian conversion. Oops!
The text is especially spot on when it talks about education (a field I have been in for a long time) and the benefits of a “classical education.”
When Mr. Hegseth wades into religious waters he gets in a little too deep for him. It’s occasionally cringe, especially when he tries to explicate and impress with his thoughts on Christianity.
It was not a bad listen, overall. Although I certainly did not agree with some of the book, I did not dismiss it because there were parts that I did not see eye to eye with.
In plain-spoken, down-to-earth, easily-accessible language, Hegseth speaks about what's at stake in America in 2020. Hegseth attacks political correctness, lack of patriotism, and unpacks the loaded language of political discourse. At the time he wrote this book, Hegseth could not have known there would be riots in the streets, churches set on fire, synagogues vandalized, stores looted, and autonomous zones of violent lawless anarchy set up in downtowns from Seattle to Portland and that the local authorities willfully ignore anarchy as young children were fatally shot in Chicago, New York, and Atlanta. But, Hegseth would not have been surprised, having seen the trajectory. This is a passionate point of view and not intended as an academic discussion.
Biased, whiney and completely absent understanding of the nations founders. If you are looking for an anti left cheerleader book this is for you. Otherwise if you want solutions and articulate thought just jeep scrolling
Peter Hegseth is a man who wants a better life for his 6 children. Initially a staunch liberal, he morphed into a conservative over time and lays out plenty of reasons why America is a great country, despite all the efforts to knock it down and why we need to keep America first and not erase our history. Many Americans despise our current imperfect and brash ‘see something, say something’ president but I truly believe he is a crusader for America and embraced Pete’s common sense approach and view. He has been on both sides of the political ‘war’, a man who loves his family and America. A breath of fresh air and reason in a time when things have turned surreal.
Pete Hegseth (of Fox and Friends) offers his second book, perfectly timed for the upcoming election. Mr. Hegseth covers a number of areas, from Socialism to Islamism (and everything in between). The book’s subtitle, “Our fight to Stay Free,” could be easily substituted on numerous books written by supporters of either of the two major political parties in America. Make no mistake about it, this is a solid coverage of Republican issues, and Mr. Hegseth pulls no punches as he outlines his beliefs about the dangers facing America.
The book is well-written, the subjects easily found in their respective chapters. Mr. Hegseth offers plenty of supporting documents to back up his statements, and I found his detailed index helpful in finding specific information in a moment’s notice. The author mostly stays away from specific comments about members of the Democratic Party, although he does have a few he comments about in a manner that echoes President Trump (for example, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez is labeled as “Comrade Cortez,” referencing her political stance on issues). Most of the time he blankets his targets as leftists, leaving the reader to determine the appropriate targets.
As with most political books nowadays, those who identify with Democrats will hate this book and Republicans will love it. If you are conservative, this is a good reminder of all the issues that are on the table and will be affected by whoever wins the November election. The author doesn’t seek to sway anyone to his positions. He knows his target audience and talks to them directly, using the book to help rally people to support the cause. The name “American Crusade” is a clear indicator that this book is intended to educate and galvanize people into actively supporting President Trump in the upcoming election. Four stars.
My thanks to NetGalley and Center Street for a complimentary electronic copy of this title.
Based As F*€K! A breath of fresh air , finally someone speaks up and says what is on their mind and doesn’t sugar coat it. Previous to this I didn’t know much about Pete, after reading this I will be looking forward to hearing from him. God Bless America !
Spoiler alert: I actually read the book and I am a veteran. This book describes the battle for the future of America, as our grandparents and parents knew it, and how we must fight this battle to preserve America for this and subsequent generations. It is a battle for the hearts and minds of our children. Will the America of Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan continue? Or, will our constitutional republic be torn asunder and be replaced by another failed socialist/communist state?
Mr. Hegseth is a graduate of Princeton and Harvard, both are the antithesis of conservative bastions of thought. In 2016, he was a vocal “never-Trumper”. His background in Public Policy is clearly evident in his book “American Crusade”.
Mr. Hegseth presents a cogent, rational explanation of the real differences between conservatives, liberals, and leftists. We are, in fact, in the midst of a culture war. This war is not about differences between conservatives and liberals. He presents evidence that conservatives and liberals share much in common – love of country, love of family, love of God, service to nation, and patriotism. These two groups differ primarily in their approaches to solving problems in our society. Their commonality and love of country makes them “Americanists”, according to Mr. Hegseth. Yet, the American way of life cherished by both conservatives and liberals is now under attack by the greatest internal, existential threat America has ever faced before.
The real war is between Americanists and Leftists. Leftists hate America and all it stands for. The now stated, and very evident, goals of leftists are to tear down America by tearing down its revered values. Honesty, truth, hard work, individual freedom, personal responsibility, freedom of religion, and American nationalism are existential threats to the socialist and communist goals of leftists. After mockery, ridicule, shaming, lies, and distortions to discredit any opponent who is an Americanist, leftists will resort to their tools of choice to tear down America: anarchy, rioting, looting, arson and murder. Think Antifa.
In this book, Mr. Hegseth presents why it is critical for Americanism to prevail in the fight against leftism, globalism, genderism, socialism, secularism, environmentalism, multiculturalism, and Islamism.
Certainly, Mr. Hegseth shares his personal insights and opinions. After all, he wrote this book!
Awesome book. He writes about things many of us know but don't or won't express out loud because we fear the response, especially in these days of the cancel culture, domestic terrorism and Soros funded prosecutors (but I repeat myself).
The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because Pete is smart enough to write this book, so he's smart enough to do better than F-bombs and the like. The words alone will turn some people away from the sensible truths we all need to recognize and tell everyone.
What a ridiculous book. Full of hatred and hypocrisy. For someone with degrees from Princeton and Harvard I at least expected coherent arguments and some factual information, which sadly was not the case. The author in one sentence would state we need to move beyond name calling only to celebrate names that have been used on political rivals or to call AOC “comrade” as only one example. It is frightening to realize this man is now Secretary of Defense.
A three star rating for what I perceive as contradictory information in the book. On at least four occasions the author stated the National Motto is E Pluribus Unum and In God We Trust. Which is it? The correct answer is the latter and not the former. Then he acknowledges the erronous doctrine of separation of church and state, which is not found in the constitution. A few chapters later, he says there is no such separation. Once again, which is it? Thankfully, there is no such doctrine found in the nation's founding documents. Other than these glaring mistakes, I enjoyed the book; however, I would have liked it better if he would have given greater detail to how we could battle against the leftist takeover of our country and culture. Don't let my critique dissuade you from reading this book. It's still worthwhile to do so.
Let me start by saying that 91% of the reviews of this book are 5 Star. I did look at a few of the negative reviews, and I have to say that I suspect many of them never read the book.
For example, one review starts with, "As a liberal, I was not aware that my ultimate goal was to erase 'America's soul, culture, and institutions.'" This reviewer, a Disney denizen, goes on to state the book is "very negative, bitter, insulting, and offensive." Pete Hegseth goes out of his way to distinguish between classical liberals (as in Libertarian) and the Leftists that have hijacked the term 'liberal' for use.
I found that American Crusade provides an extraordinarily, balanced, and insightful view of the current situation in our country. But then I am a proud and patriot American and a veteran. I understand that, despite the failings of human beings, the ideals behind our founding are unique and worth keeping, and yes, fighting for. I have read quite a few books by conservative writers and found this one to be much less reactionary and polarizing, and more uniting and explanatory. But I can certainly see that if it were your goal to "fundamentally transform" the United States of America into just another European-modeled socialist nanny state, that this would be a book, you would seriously dislike.
Hegseth makes the point, and I have said this myself in the past, that real Americans have much more in common with the Brexit crowd in the UK, the protestors in Hong Kong, and the freedom fighters in Poland than the rank-in-file of today's Europeans.
Americanism, like nationalism, is not a dirty word. It is the only practical way for peace to occur on a global scale. Each nation's citizens must love their own country enough not to want to see it destroyed in senseless wars, corrupt political gamesmanship, or disastrous goals such as world-domination, i.e., Russia and China.
Hegseth spends a lot of time outlining why America is unique, what beliefs and concerns motivated the Founding Fathers, and why it is worth fighting and yes, even dying for. He draws contrasts between Liberals and Leftists (as I mentioned earlier). Pete compares globalization (good) and globalism (bad). He examines the difference between Freedom of Religion and Freedom from Religion as well as the actual and measurable differences (real science) between man and woman that the new radical Leftist feminists all want us to either ignore or forget.
So yeah, if you're a Leftist, you are truly going to hate this book. If you are an American, concerned about the future of this county and preserving the greatest experiment in self-government the world has ever seen, you will want to read this book. You may not agree with everything Pete Hegseth says, but I am betting you will nod your head at most of it.
We are in dire need of more 100% Americans, and less of these squishy Americans who love the benefits of being American but just can't seem to stand up and be counted when needed. Before I am a member of any political party (which I am not), I am an American. I love my country and will defend her, despite her shortcomings, until my last breath. Because, despite, those same shortcomings, she is still the greatest country on this planet.
To say that I am disturbed after reading this is a understatement. I pulled my son out of public school, in Texas in 1998 . Texas was then as now a Red state. I homeschooled him from 7th through graduation in 2005. I lost faith in the school system when he was in second grade and had enough in seventh grade. His teachers didn't know simple things about Texas history and some weren't even certified. We used a Christian homeschool program. He is now 33, I told him and my daughter in law In will do it for their kids too. Kids need to learn history, real history not the deal they are bombarded with in our society. Yes I am a white heterosexual, married (41 years) Christian (53 years) God loving, God fearing gun toten "Reagan Democrat" woman. All the things that make the leftist have a coronary. The last and only time I voted Democratic was Jimmy Carter for a second time. God bless this country, I pray, daily that we can save this country and then it back before it is too late.
Finally, someone who will speak their mind and have the facts to back it up! I kept having to put it down because I found myself becoming ticked off and outraged that no one speaks up anymore without fear or apologizing the next day. If you want a blueprint for how to become a crusader and to actually fight for the foundations, traditions, and beliefs we hold of America; the foundations for American exceptionalism then pick up a copy and read it cover to cover. Nice job Mr. Hegseth!
As this book was written prior to the 2020 election, Pete and his amazing prescience should lessen any doubt people may have about the negative effects of globalism. The consequences Americans are facing now due to globalist policies dating back decades and exacerbated by the economic downturn enabled by government shutdowns is a warning signal for our country and its citizens. The future hangs in the balance.
Inspiring to know what you feel others feel. The importance to do something, to not be silent or silenced. Once we loose our freedom it will be too late. We need to stand up for our American values. We need to close our borders until we can repair our immigration system. We need to know who is here and why they are here!
This book was a big disappointment. The writing is subpar and tasteless. Pete Hegseth is just another idiot with the money to publish his thoughts onto paper. He genuinely knows nothing about politics, he should stick to cleaning rifles.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book was a refreshing surprise. I never expected a detailed trajectory of our freedom from this source. Pete’s message is just as important today as Paul Revere's ride in 1775. If you love America you best prepare yourself.. simply voting is not enough to protect America.
Pete Hengseth hit the bullseye with the book- He couldn't have been more spot on. The book was incredible and fired up my American spirit. Pete laid the foundation of how America was founded and how it will be destroyed if we patriots don't take action. I absolutely love Pete's unapologetic patriotism and his passion for our stars and stripes. This book bluntly lays out how the American Dream, our American Freedom, and the entire framework of America will be destroyed if we let the Left win. He tackles the Left and their lies and how their "ism's" - Globalism, Socialism, Secularism, Environmentalism, Elitism, Multiculturalism, Islamism, and Leftism - will ultimately led to tyrannian, communistic rule. Everything our Founding Father's fought for will be smashed to pieces and ultimately American, our great republic will die! Pete bluntly lays out how you must be for America or against it. There is no 50-50 or squish Republicans. You must be 100% American or none at all. (I'm like 110% American- I bleed red white and blue lol) Pete challenges readers with the call to raise fighters- who aren't afraid to take the blasts from the Left and the Media. Trump is our Crusade Leader and we are his Crusade. There will be no America if we don't put America first.... which means keeping America great! Pete does a great job setting up the importance of our Declaration and Constitution and defines the Declaration as the soul of America and the Constitution as the body. We can't have one without the other. You must support all in full if you want to have America living and breathing. Pete stirred my American Nationalist personality - I love God, my freedom, my guns and my natural rights, and my free speech- I will do anything to protect these! The future belongs to patriots: patriots who will fight for their country and use common sense to keep their country free. I am one of these patriots- have no doubt!!
Pete also tackles- in one flawless quote- the lie the left tells you which is "Right wingers are ultimately fascists" ( Thank you my friends... add it to the list of other names I've been called lol) This quote from Ronald Reagan (one the best presidents in my humble opinion) said, '"If fascism ever comes to America, it will be in the name of liberalism."' BOOM. America is the ultimate antifascism, while leftism is the permanent gateway drug to fascism. Ok, now that that lie is dispelled, let's move on!
Pete also lays it perfectly the destruction behind socialism and how it will ultimately lead to a whole bunch of lazy bums who just wait for their government handouts ultimately destroying capitalism. '"If you're going to give it to me for free, why should I work for it."' No one will want to work anyone- crushing our economy. And for those people left (like me) who still work hard and make their way in life, many will have the attitude of, '"If they're going to take it all away from me in taxes, why should I bust my butt to achieve more?"' So like it's basically a lose-lose situation and will lead to the destruction of the Great American Economy that has been booming for the last 3 1/2 years. In reality, socialism and the Left will take over health care, control our schools, erase our personal debys, raise our kids, and provide universal basic income. Pete warns us that if the Left wins, failure will become our reality. In case you've been blinded by the sweet lies the Media and the left have told you about socialism, Pete rebukes those lies and a wonderful, yet horrific description! '"Here are a few things socialism and its bigger brother communism have brought us: Concentration Camps, the gulag, dictatorship, censorship (Happening everywhere today on social media), mass starvation, soulless bureaucracies and breadlines (remind you of lines out of stores....... hmmm). Socialism is slavery, because it is always about power, taking rights and freedom from regular people in order to advance the wealth or ambitions of powerful people."' Well there you folks have it. No media or politician sugar coating- now it doesn't seem so sweet does it?
Pete also does an incredible job bluntly laying out how the left get their way. "'The leftist are not interested in inclusion; they are interest only in bullying, shaming and fear mongering us all into an ideological black hole"' See, the left twists all this, saying they're the compassionate ones and the ones who aren't racist or xenophobic etc. Yet once again, Brave Pete dispelled this lie, bluntly and factually. Basically Leftism is a lie. It always has been and it always will be! Leftist don't want civility. They want control. Period.
Pete also tackles the attack on Christianity and how it's the Left's goal to totally obliterate our faith and values in God. There is a war on faith, no question. And this war is not accidental, it's intentional. Because the Christian faith is the foundation of Americanism. And the Left want to destroy it all. We must not let them. The Democratic Party has completely sidelined faith, especially teachings of the Bible. Instead, they want to promote '" rational public policy based on sound science and universal humanistic values."' Pete blatantly lays out how the Democratic Party favours brainwashing us all into this 'humanistic values'. They literally want to erase God. And without God, you can't have law and order. This itself calls for a Crusade and we must, as Christians, rise up against this push for secularism.
Oh, and thank God, Pete, you beautifully tackled the lies of climate change. He puts it into perspective how controlling the Left is when it comes to this. "The world is going to end in 12 years if we don't address climate change." -AOC Ok excuse me missy, you are not in control of when this world will end. The Bible tells us that only God the Father knows when the world will end so last time I checked, AOC you are not a factual source. Ok sorry rant. Anyways, Pete summed up the fearmongering perfectly. '" Powerful people with big spreadsheets must control our choices- and our lives. Otherwise we will all die."' I LOVE your sarcasm Pete! Though, this is spot on. All these big top dogs with their big fancy charts and PowerPoints somehow control us all?! What?! Does this even sound logical?! No, it is not. But sadly most people have become brainwashed and have been led like blind sheep. This is the way the Left will take control of our lives and usher in socialism... because they already have us wrapped around the whole farse of global warming and climate change. '" If it rains, climate change. If there's a drought, climate change. Tornado or hurricane? Yup, climate change. It's ultimately ridiculous yet the Democrats have convinced so many with their big "complex charts. They're leading us blindly down the road to ultimate control and socialism. '"The Green New Deal would be a Green New Disaster for America. It is the ultimate socialist Trojan horse. We must break away from these lies and save ourselves, our brains, and most importantly our country. Oh and just for laughs, someone please explain to me why the Obama's just bought ocean front property in Martha's Vineyard? I mean if they're so concerned about global warming and the rising oceans.... this seems like a pretty bad investment if it's going to be washed away in 10 years..... hmmm... I'm just saying lol Ok sorry, it's a good laugh.
Pete also takes on boldly the danger of Leftism and free speech. I can totally attest to the feeling of being afraid to speak my mind about my faith and patriotism- to friends and family too! The media wants to shut us up! '" Bur Trump paved the way back to free speech, liberating millions of patriots in the process!"' THAT'S ME! I am no longer afraid to wear my MAGA hat or my (fav) Trump sweatshirt or boldly stand up for my flag and sing the nation anthem or even write this opinionated review! Thanks Trump! But this free speech is in danger if the Leftists gain control! They've already come out and bluntly said all Trump supporters should be blacklisted, burned down etc. Ok thanks! Great to know.... :/ This is what future America will look like... the Left literally censor you if your opinion is not in line with theirs! NO THANKS... I don't want to be a part of that America and I will fight until the death to keep it from becoming that way. But thank God, the truth is I still have my First Amendment in the country. I am ready and willing to join forces with fellow crusaders and use my voice and stand up for what's right. And honestly, that just pissess of the Left even more.... because they hate I still have a voice.
In the end, Pete's final section, The Fight, riled my inner patriot up and I'm so proud of my country and what and how we were founded. '"America's story is beautiful and blessed and undeniably a good story of human freedom- a miracle really. But entire generations of Americans are growing up without ever being introduced to these beautiful stories. These stories must be told and it is up to us, the Crusaders, to tell these stories."' Another great example of freedom that was fought for and perceived was Israel. Though small and often forgotten, '"Israel is an icon of freedom. But more than that, it is a living, breathing embodiment of freedom. Israel is the front line of Western civilization, a testimony to how life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness can transform an embattled region.'" For me and us as American Crusaders, Israel embodies the soul of our American Crusade. Faith, family, freedom, and free enterprise. True to Donald Trump's promise, I will honestly, never stop fighting for America! Just as he has fought for the American people, I will never stop fighting for America. I'm not only fighting for my our God-given freedoms and for my family but I will fight so others can be free also. If our American Crusade fails, not only will America be gone, but human freedom will be finished. (If that doesn't give you chills I don't know what will) I will fight to save this country, to save this democracy and this great republic, to save everything our founding fathers fought for 244 years ago, to save not only my freedom but yours!
Pete you crushed it! I will be joining you in the Great American Crusade! I'm ready to fight and to stand up for my country and defend this great freedom that we have treasured for so long! I want to die knowing I did everything I could to preserve this republic. And if I die in the battlefield, so be it. I have died fighting with heroic American crusaders like you Pete! 10/10 5+ stars! Would recommend to anyone who wants to join in the fight to stay free!
The author makes it known right from the start where he stands, and I'm sure Leftists, Liberals, Democrats put the book down (if they even picked it up). But as I am an Independent, I kept reading.. "Whether you are a staunch Republican or even a lifelong Democrat, if you are an American patriot, you know we have lost our way." This book was written right before the 2020 election so I'm sure the author has a lot more to say on that topic now. I felt, at times (especially towards the end), he was wordy, preachy and the book dragged on too long to make his points. Some points I agreed with, some points I disagreed. I respect and understand his chapter on Secularism, enjoyed his military experiences and whole heartily agree with his thoughts on Veteran's benefits. Hate or love the Trump Administration but that Administration did right by the Vets. I'll end my review with his last 2 words in the book: Deus Vult!
A concise accurate picture of where we are and where were going in not only the near term but our survival as a Republic . And finally a truthful look at the problem with IslamISM
Would be better if he didn't simp for "Israel". No one who has read the New Testament could possibly believe in the absurdity of the "Judeo/Christian" myth that is pushed upon us.
I was a bit surprised by this book. I really liked how frank and honest Hegseth is. He pulls no punches. I think most people that would read this book would need to be a fan of his, or more in line with his politics, but I think it’s a book for everyone that loves this country. I enjoyed it.
Pete is a bad ass and is impressive. Ivy league education, combat veteran, National Guard member, and news show host. And he has awesome tattoos. I enjoyed reading his book. He shares a lot of eye opening information and is leading the crusade to save our country. Two thumbs up!
I read this book with the expectation of learning more about the assault on America and perhaps to find hope to preserve what I have always believed about our land expressed in the Declaration and Constitution. It has been said that America is a “shining light on a hill”. At the outset of this book Hegseth states that “America is a flickering light of freedom on a surrounded hill”. The rest of the book met my expectations showing me how terrible the forces of evil are tearing at our freedoms, but also that there is hope and that hope is found in America’s people, “we the people” crusading for Western Civilization, freedom and equal justice under the law. “We don’t fight because we hate our enemies and view them as less than human as Islamism does; we fight because we love our God-given freedoms.”
Here are a few quotes from this informative writing:
“…gratitude is a humble attribute that fills an individual with an appreciation of today and the promise of tomorrow. Our founders understood this fact, which is why America’s first holiday—both formally and informally—is Thanksgiving. And whom did our founders thank for our blessings? God.”
“’Separation of church and state’ is the main argument secularists use to deport God from every quarter of our country. But as many Americans no longer know, the phrase ‘separation of church and state’ does not appear in either the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution. It’s the leftist folklore that, after years of indoctrination, has become orthodoxy.”
“Remember Lincoln’s warning: ‘The philosophy of the schoolroom in one generation becomes the philosophy of government in the next.’”
“When students are actually introduced to the truth—of Christ, country, and commerce—they recognize it and are drawn to it. People are not stupid; they are quite intuitive and thirsty for truth. But if they are never taught, they can be deceived.”
“When you have a clear mission (as in the military), you strip away the superficial identities and get to know real people. You don’t care about the color of anyone’s skin or how much money he has in the bank—all that matters is the content of a man’s character… it’s our unity that makes us stronger—not our differences. If we think of America as our mission, the same should apply to how we see superficial attributes such as race… How in the hell did we get to a point where elites tell us that seeing more race is better than moving beyond race?”
Now of course, if I were to express how I find the love of God, country and true Americanism as so wonderfully described in this book, in any public forum I expect to be vilified. That is okay; this is a good read. And it was written before the pandemic and its politics, and the civil unrest and developing anarchy. So, it now becomes even a more important read. Thanks for listening!
