Jimmy Buffett: The Key West Years

Rate this book
Written by Tom Corcoran, Jimmy’s longtime photographer and co-lyricist of “Cuban Crime of Passion” and Fins,” the 64-page trade paperback includes over three dozen photos from 1971 onward. It’s the perfect handbook for fans and Key West visitors. Plenty of “stories we can tell” and details about JB’s life away from the rock-and-roll trail. Readers will gain insight to song lyrics, lifestyle, hangouts, and the 35-year love affair between Jimmy Buffett and the city at the end of road.

The photography by the author made this so very special. Jimmy Buffett was part of my college music which is always with me. Wonderful that my son-in-law loves the island living as well as the music this great story-teller told to so many generations. Because the grandkids are also in love with the music. Thank you Mr Corcoran for your eye to see the landscape and to know this great man.
So sorry he is gone.

If you are a Jimmy Buffett fan and are going to Key West for the first time make sure you read this book before you go. In this book there are over 30 locations and coaches few colorful characters that Corcoran list as places Jimmy hung out at and people he knew. Some are still there, some are gone but he does give locations for most of the places he lists.

I have enjoyed many of Tom's Alex Rutledge novels, and I am a Parrothead since 1991. I had hoped that this would be a great read. I found it informative, but short and sometimes jarring. Worth reading for lovers of Buffett and Key West.

Short descriptions of some of Jimmy Buffet’s favorite spots in Key West written by noted author, friend, and long-time resident. Offers glimpses into Buffet’s life as well as a pretty good sense of what the rhythms of the island might have been like “in the good old days”

Way too short! Corcoran is a great writer, and this book needs these stories expanded!
