Some really interesting articles in this one. Not to be confused with the "Artificial Life", the SFI compilation of the same name also compiled by Langton.

This book includes papers on a wide range of topics in artificial life, both providing an introduction to the field and in-depth information for people with previous related experience. Primarily for a scientific audience.
