Surviving Never Gets Easy With a child on the way, Max makes the toughest decision he's ever made. He leaves home. And now he doesn't know if he'll make it back. Without proper medical care, Mandy hopes that she'll deliver her baby without complications. When her daughter goes missing, Georgia must leave camp once again. She has the courage and determination to find her, but she doesn't even know which direction to head in. Finding Shelter is book 8 of The EMP, a post-apocalyptic survival thriller series. It deals with real people fighting for their survival every inch of the way.
Sorry, but this series just became more unbelievable as it went along. Characters that went no where and totally not needed, just wasting space. I loved Max and Mandy, along with Georgia and her kids, even John and Cynthia, but the storylines were just too much. This series is for thriller junkies and readers that don't care about emotional substance. Happy reading!
as I say again that you put too much emphasis on the people in the book thinking how they are going to die referring on the past dragging it out the story. I did not like the ending. I mean what were thinking that people would accept this ending we would understand it, noway. what happened right after they had gotten back to camp, do they decide to move to a safer place, find food, water,do people finally start helping the people after everything went south?
Not the same pace or feel to the series... Forced.
Book 8 which may be the last one I'm not sure, do not read like the others. It started much different in that several months had passed from the main characters and immediately three of the main characters got themselves captured and or in a situation that seems ridiculous for a group that has survived this long. The story is still interesting and I'm not going to say it was bad it was just not at the same level as the first seven books. Almost as if a different author or he just wanted to wrap up this book and try to get to a conclusion that could bring it to a close. It seems on satisfying if this is the last book and weak if it's trying to continue the story but with a different contents in the timeline of the plot. Overall though it's a very enjoyable series and I do hope more are written if they're the quality of the first seven.
Just finished book 8, the last one in this series. It was satisfying but also a little sad. The series ended on a high note, but I was surprised too. I was so into the story line that I had not even realized that the end was coming up so soon. I say I was sad because with the end of the series, after following how far they had come and how many obstacles they had encountered, it was like saying goodbye to a group of close friends. If you are a fan of TEOTWAWKI books, whatever you do, do not miss this series. I cannot say enough good things about it. Read it annd I guarantee that you will be telling your friends about it and urging them to read it for themselves.
Last book in series. An EMP causes all things electrical to die out, everything. Leaving people in the dark, turning into mad, crazy, borders and looters initially. Among people you get survivors who want out away from the madness, have to defend themselves, building safe shelters and developing skills along the way to help them. You also get mad, power hungry, crazy, people who also want to survive but be in charge of everything and everyone and form a militia killing for everything they want and not necessarily for need. Then comes the scared, starving, turning mad because they can’t find what they need they start to fight amongst themselves, and others. Between these types of people, there has to be final survivors, read on to find out.
How does one, lying flat on his stomach, bring both legs UP and BACKWARDS at the same time, and hit the attacker in the groin with his KNEES? I cannot picture it in my head. I cannot physically do it. It just doesn’t make sense. There were quite a few grammar errors, mixing up of names, and a few things that just didn’t make sense. It seems like Ryan is getting sloppier the more books he writes in this series. Maybe he was getting bored of it and just trying to hurry up to meet the publisher’s deadline. But over all, I gave it four stars, because the storyline is pretty decent and I’m fully invested in it. It’s also far from being the worst EMP story I’ve read.
It seems like all hope is lost since the EMP. Everyone has either lost their minds are is power hungry to be their own ruler. The bad part about wanting to be ruler is that they want to do it forcibly and brutally make people suffer. The only rational people in the book is Max and his crew. You can't trust any one as Sadie finds out. And Georgia and John find that fighting the bad guys will always be a part of this new life and will consist of savagery and brutal survival. Now Mandy has brought a baby into the world and the only sign of any kind of hope, happiness, and goodness in their world will be right there in their camp amongst themselves. The future will be what they make it.
This book was.. frustrating. Over explained back stories, overly descriptive common use items and situations everyone is familiar with, flashback thoughts that has nothing to do with the situation at hand, “ears ringing” every time a bullet is fired even from a distance..? Poorly written word count, redundant, repetitious overly descriptive and distracting from the story.
This is a solid storyline with plausible scenarios and engaging characters. The books are captivating, with plenty of action. The reason for the low rating is the editing, or rather the lack of proofreading simple editing. That is what is keeping this author and series strictly at the indie level.
What happened to Olivia? The woman that escaped the sarge's troops with Dan??
Too many loose ends, the story ends kind of abruptly.....not a lot of resolution of important problems....like finding livestock..or seed for crops, or even a dependable place to live.....it's like the author just paraphrased an ending to get on to the next project....disappointing
I'm reading the whole series a second time after taking a few months off. It's one of those stories that stick with you. Excellent writing and well researched. Likeable, realistic characters. I had a difficult time stopping once I started reading. This second time I'm noticing things I missed previously.
Incredible story of survival. Reading this series makes me wonder if this is how things will end. Anyhow, the one constant that I took away from Max is to realize in a survival situation. You always have options. Especially, when they do not look like options.
I enjoyed this book in this series. It was a fast read. I had some problems with typos and mislabeled persons. It appeared that the proof-reader missed those. Still it was a descent read.
Best apocalyptic books I've read! Many different characters introduced and constantly changing circumstances that the main characters had to deal with.
I read all 8 books I love books like this I couldn't wa in t to finish them. Now I wish there were more you gotta read them they caught me from the first chapter and I cou!dnt read fast enough. Great books
I loved the entire series but there are a lot of typos in every book which can be very distracting. I found several continuity issues also. Again, the story line is awesome!!! Maybe get someone to edit before you publish.
"FINDING SHELTER" book 8 the final book in THE EMP post-apocalyptic survival thriller brings this series to an end. I found all 8 books really enjoyable and hope you do too. WHAT A GREAT SERIES AND A GREAT READ!
This was a really good story. The characters are very normal people who come together in a different time. Along the way, they all begin to learn about themselves
