For the first time the menfolk are stepping out of the pages of #1 New York Times bestselling author Fern Michaels’ beloved Sisterhood series and into the spotlight…
After years of standing by their women, the Sisterhood’s significant others have also become loyal friends. And now Jack Emery, Nikki’s husband, has enlisted Ted, Joe, Jay, Bert, Dennis, and Abner to form a top-secret organization known as BOLO Consultants.
Jack has two missions in mind. The first: offering some behind-the-scenes help to Nikki’s law firm as they take on the all-powerful Andover Pharmaceuticals. Andover’s anti-leukemia drug causes terrible side effects in young patients, but a class-action suit seems doomed to fail. BOLO Consultants have a prescription to cure that. Meanwhile, Virginia’s lieutenant governor has a sideline as a slum landlord, and his impoverished tenants are suffering. Tyler Sandford believes his status puts him above the law. But when the Sisterhood and their allies decide to get involved, no one is beyond the reach of true justice…
Fern Michaels isn’t a person. I’m not sure she’s an entity either since an entity is something with separate existence. Fern Michaels® is what I DO. Me, Mary Ruth Kuczkir. Growing up in Hastings, Pennsylvania, I was called Ruth. I became Mary when I entered the business world where first names were the order of the day. To this day, family and friends call me Dink, a name my father gave me when I was born because according to him I was ‘a dinky little thing’ weighing in at four and a half pounds. However, I answer to Fern since people are more comfortable with a name they can pronounce.
As they say, the past is prologue. I grew up, got a job, got married, had five kids. When my youngest went off to Kindergarten, my husband told me to get off my ass and get a job. Those were his exact words. I didn’t know how to do anything except be a wife and mother. I was also a voracious reader having cut my teeth on The Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Cherry Ames and the like. The library was a magical place for me. It still is to this day. Rather than face the outside world with no skills, I decided to write a book. For some reason that didn’t intimidate me. As my husband said at the time, stupid is as stupid does. Guess what, I don’t have that husband any more. Guess what else! I wrote 99 books, most of them New York Times Best Sellers.
Moving right along here . . . Several years ago I left Ballantine Books, parted company with my agent, sold my house in New Jersey that I had lived in all my married life and in 1993 moved to South Carolina. I figured if I was going to go through trauma let it be all at one time. It was a breeze. The kids were all on their own at that point. The dump was a 300 year old plantation house that is listed in the National Registry that I remodeled. Today it is beyond belief as are the gardens and the equally old Angel Oaks that drip Spanish moss. Unfortunately, I could not get my ghost to relocate. This ghost has been documented by previous owners. Mary Margaret as we call her, is “a friendly”. She is also mischievous. It took me two weeks to figure out that she didn’t like my coffee cups. They would slide off the table or counter or else they’d break in the dishwasher. I bought red checkered ones. All are intact as of this writing. She moves pillows from one room to the other and she stops all the clocks in the house at 9:10 in the a.m. at least once a week. When the Azaleas are in bloom, and only then, I find blooms on my night stand. I have this glorious front porch and during the warm months I see my swing moving early in the morning when the air is still and again late in the day. She doesn’t spook the dogs. I always know when she’s around because the five of them line up and look like they’re at a tennis match. As of this writing we’re co-habiting nicely.
Most writers love what they do and I’m no exception. I love it when I get a germ of an idea and get it down on paper. I love breathing life into my characters. I love writing about women who persevere and prevail because that’s what I had to do to get to this point in time. It’s another way of saying it doesn’t matter where you’ve been, what matters is where you’re going and how you get there. The day I finally prevailed was the day I was inducted into the New Jersey Literary Hall of Fame. For me it was an awesome day and there are no words to describe it. I’ve been telling stories and scribbling for 37 years. I hope I can continue for another 37 years. It wasn’t easy during some of those years. As I said, I had to persevere. My old Polish grandmother said something to me when I was little that I never forgot. She said when God is good to you, you have to give back. For a while I didn’t know how to do that. When I finally figured it out I set up The Fern Michaels® Foundation.
Laugh out loud funny, emotional, thrilling and perfect for me!
I was hooked on the Sisterhood series from book one and the Men of The Sisterhood is no different. The men are loyal and just like the women are dedicated to doing what is right. Now, if that goes outside the boundaries of traditional law, then so be it! It helps, though, that they have those handy gold shields now. Can they do this without the women?
These first books shows the fruition of an idea from a year earlier when everyone was feeling off and antsy. Then, the great Charles, left and Jack and the boys decided that they had to follow through with their plan. Jack thinks they have all the women fooled but Maggie proves otherwise. But how much does she really know?
So here they take on slumlords and politicians, a management company owner, and then proceed in helping two of the members of The Sisterhood behind their backs. They pull together and find themselves in a rhythm.
We also have a new 4 legged member if the Men. His name is Cyrus, and he makes his own bed. Cleans up his own mess and helps in a mission when a bad guy won't cooperate.
I laughed til I cried during one scene and you will know it when you get to it.
Fern Michaels is know for writing funny, moving, and serious stuff. These are all combined in these books. You will enjoy them and if you want history on they girls group check out the women of The Sisterhood. The first book being Weekend Warriors! I think you will be hooked too.
I love it. Total 5 stars and better every time I read them. I received this ARC for an honest review. If you found my review helpful and liked it please leave me a comment. Thanks.
I think this might be the WORST book I have ever read. Utterly the worst.
I finished it (barely scanning in the end) because I am absolutely out of reading material, and this is one of the books my late mother left behind.
Utterly ridiculous, repetitive, vengeful vigilantes whose actions are far more more egregious than those they targeted. Repulsive.
Aside from the repetition, the inane scenaria, women always running from the room in tears, men always threatening their enemies, stupid dating advice, faxing everything in 2015...ugh. What happened to parenting, when children are allowed to be killed by rats, or cold. How can those paltry sums of stolen money fix the alleged wrongs made by years of systemic poverty and violence. Why couldn't the lawyers solve their on class action suits without the men coming in, and with stupid childish violence coerce a win.
THE WORST BOOK EVER. Really, the worst. Avoid at all cost!
I was very disappointed in this book. The plot dragged on and on for way too long. I didn't like the way the men initially treated Maggie. I had expected a more exciting story. I did have to laugh at the way Maggie shocked Ted near the end--and enjoyed the author's sense of humor.
The men take cases. After years of helping the sisterhood, the men decided to take on their own cases. They create BOLO Consultants and go to work with help from Maggie. First up is a slumlord who needs an education in being cold. Then they help Nikki's firm behind the scenes stick it to a big Pharmaceutical company. Both cases prove that the boys can indeed help the ladies in their endeavors.
This was an interesting twist on the Sisterhood series in that it focuses on the "Men" of the Sisterhood! It seems to be a bit out of sequence with the Sisterhood series because of some of the "missing" characters. Just an OK rating for me--4 out of 10.
I'm a huge fan of the Sisterhood series, so was excited for this listen as well. Really enjoyed the audiobook version, as the narrator did a great job bring in just enough difference in the voices of characters without being over the top.
Except for the two take-downs, this story did absolutely nothing for me. I got tired of what they ate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and Cyrus relieving himself. I skipped pages which I very rarely do. I won't read any more by Fern Michaels.
I am so sorry that I bought the first 3 books in this series. I was under the impression that Ms. Michaels was a Christian writer will not make that mistake again. Bad language . Christian reader beware.
Alternating Series This is a very good story. It is clean with no foul language, bedroom scenes, or gore. The violence is minimal. This book is the first in a new series that is strongly connected to this author's The Sisterhood series. It is not a spinoff as the 2 series are intricately involved with each other. They share characters and have the same timeline. You need to have read the first 26 books of The Sisterhood to have all of the details you need for this book. And if you just go read book 27 of that series, you will be lost without reading this book first. If you are reading out of order, you will have no idea what they are talking about when they refer to people or events. I guess the idea is to read book 26, then book 1, then book 27, then book 2. I am guessing because it has not been stated anywhere that I have found. Worse, this series (except for this book) is not in Kindle Unlimited which means you will pay extra to stay informed. So, this is the last book of either series that I will read.
A little read that is entertaining and a good book for the beach or the quarantine time. I have always enjoyed Fern Michael's sisterhood series and now the boys have formed their own group and Maggie is also a part of this group. The other women are in the dark. Jack wants to help his wife Nikki with here law cases that are wearing her down and taking a toll on their marriage. The men buy a building, furnish it and name it the Bolo Building. Then they go after the people involved in those cases. Enjoy having the same characters in the book and in each one the author develops the characters more. Quick read but enjoyable. Read how the men solve the problems. I like that the men have formed their own group. A good mystery but not scary.
I always enjoy Fern Michaels’s books. She tells a great story with amazing little details. But in this particular book, the details were exhausting. How many times do we need to read that it’s snowing, that Cyrus the dog is practically human, that Abner “flexes his fingers” before doing his thing? And there must be 10 different ways to signal agreement within a group besides all hands “shot (up) in the air.“ I find these predictable, repetitive phrases distracting and annoying. That said, I do appreciate that the guys are now involved in “whatever it takes” to get justice. Are they going to be referred to as “the brotherhood”?
With the Sisterhood all doing their own things, i.e. like working their real jobs; their significant others are bored. So they decide to pick up the mantle and form The Men of the Sisterhood, in secrecy.
The first two cases are class action suits that have been running Nikki and Alexis ragged. It's already been a year and they have at least 2 more to go to get more evidence and finally nail both companies. So the Men take over and do the dirty work to make things right for their women; while getting revenge in the process!
Husbands of the Sisters, decide to have their own club and help the down trodden, being taken advantage by the rich landlords, Owners of drug cos., and greedy people.. They intend to keep it secret from the Sisters who hire PIs to tail their husbands to learn what they are up to. That fails with the exception of one Sister, who the Men have to allow into their club. She can apply the most gruesome remedy to the bad guys. Not for the faint hearted.
Two stories in this book made for a fast read. One story was about real estate and the others pharmaceuticals. Both were run by crooked people. The men of the Sisterhood have started their own organization to go after and punish them. Not the usual plot for Fern Michaels but it followed the same line and by adding Maggie Spritzer in the mix you get a bit of the Sisterhood involved. Love finally conquers q in this book.
I enjoyed the "Sisterhood" books but it's been a while since I read them. This is not a stand alone book. I gave up. Too many characters to remember, introduced very quickly with little description and the men seemed to be whining about one thing or another. The dog is cute but was even getting tedious when I stopped reading at page 70. Perhaps if I read the previous Sisterhood book again and then this one, I might enjoy it.
This book is so interesting because all the characters are known and loved from the very enjoyed Sisterhood series. Now we get to see how their men are represented in Fern Michaels’ ever entertaining way of writing stories for our reading pleasure. I hope to see as many books in this Men pf the Sisterhood series. Savor this first of many tales and find a slightly different group to drlight our hearts.
I enjoyed reading this book. This book may be fiction, but deals with truth. It was sad that the pharmaceutical companies do not always have people in mind over profit. Seeing it in writing makes it tougher to think about. I just hope both Jack and Espinosa get their woman back.
I loved the Sisterhood series and this book keep me up all night reading. The men on their own where just as intriguing as the women. It was a nonstop sequence of events with nail biting anticipation of what. Was happening next. I particularly enjoying the retribution dealt out to the Andovers of curling their ears, genitals, and butt curling justice.
I enjoyed this book but wish I had read it in order with the Sisterhood books because would explained facts that were talked about in the series but I didn't remember happening. I had always thought I had missed a book. Now I know. Good book and a must read for Sisterhood fans.
In this first complete novel after the introductory novellas, The Sisterhood has added many men to their top-secret organization called BOLO Consultants. The story line is a fast ride and the characters are great. Lots of action which kept me captivated!
Another amazing book by Fern Michaels! I like the idea that these guys love their women. However, they really want to be part of the team that takes down the bad guys. This book is a series of novella stories that brings the brotherhood into play! Great writing and wonderful reading!!
The author weaves a plot with many twist and turns. Through it all, she manages to describe things in great detail and makes you feel you are personally watching. She also doesn't forget to include a little humor. It was hard for me to put it down. I recommend this book for those who enjoy an easy read with plenty of action.
I absolutely LOVED this book! Fern Michaels is one of my favorite authors and once again, she did not disappoint. I'm a firm believer in the idea that what goes around comes around, so it was such a pleasure reading this thrilling story. Can't wait to start on the next one!
Overall this is a good book. I feel cheated because the book Upside Down by this same author is the exact same book. I feel cheated that I bought this series that is most probably the same as the other but with different names. Very disappointing that the author would cheat her fans.
Why I would doubt that she have another good novel in her which is beyond me but she had me From the middle of the novel to the end of the novel sitting on the end of my chair. She's just as good writing men and describing them And their plots As she was with women.
Glad the guys were able to secretly help the girls get out from under all that work. Watch out bad guys, the Men of the Sisterhood is on your tail, too. Love this series almost as much as the girls of the sisterhood. The guys just aren't as ruthless as the girls. Good read.
The guys from the Sisterhood start their own group, and are found out by Maggie. Lots of back and forth, but in the end, the bad guys are routed. It's always interesting to see how Michaels has the women much more into the torture than the guys are. Don't mess with the Sisterhood.
Just like the Sisterhood series the men have taken their turn. Their take charge attitude brought a plan together which was executed in true "hood" style. Justice served! Ready for the next book in the series.
I enjoyed my first foray into Men of the Sisterhood. Somewhere along the line I must have missed a book or two because there have been many changes in the relationships. For those that enjoy this Fern Michaels series you will enjoy this book.
