Overall I found this book to be motivating and inspiring! At the end I was a little tired of the personal anecdotes but I think in the earlier parts of the book it was crucial for framing the points made. I took a lot from this book and I’m so glad I read it!
It was relatively standard information found in any self-help/business books. The material related to real estate , I found to be relatively surface level. I enjoyed the personal stories , but by the end (only 136 pages ) I was dragging my feet to finish.
Let me start by saying that I'm not a Realtor - I'm "Realtor adjacent". I'm in the finance side of real estate and heard good things about this book from a Realtor partner so I decided to give it a shot. And it was well worth the read!
It's short enough to not feel like you're slogging through it (It was probably 3 hours or so, cover-to-cover) but it's jam-packed with information that a new real estate professional can use to jump-start their business. It's also got enough tried and true tips that someone in a similar profession (lending, escrow, home warranty, etc) could still utilize the lessons.
I particularly loved her sense of humor; she definitely came across as a human being and kindred spirit. Would definitely recommend!
This book is a great guide for beginners into real estate. I haven’t become licensed yet, but this book had me excited for my career!
Zavitz goes into detail about her struggles and her mistakes that she made starting out as a rookie agent. She highlights a couple of important aspects of the business. (Growth mindset, marketing, your sphere, saying YES)
I feel like I can take a lot away from this book and apply it to starting my real estate career. She also added guides and templates at the end of the book which is extremely helpful.
I can hardly wait to pick back up my real estate journey. The first chapter is exactly what I experienced during my initial career change. The only difference is, I gave up after like 3 months! Years has passed now, but after reading this book I feel that I know what it truly takes to be successful. You have to get a solid team behind you. You need a plan. And, you have to keep going ❤️
"Your First 365 Days in Real Estate." I read this book in hopes of pulling out training ideas for our team members but unfortunately this one turned out to be worthless. In fact, even if I were just starting a career in real estate, I wouldn't read this book. In your first year, you need **actionable** advice. You need someone teaching you exactly how to farm. You need to know how to go after new listings. You have to know how to negotiate offers. This book offered none of that. It was just an obnoxious woman telling war stories from her first year. I give this book 2 stars.
From the technical standpoint, most of the content in here is in line with what my training has been giving. Where this really shines is Shelley's personal take on the same tasks I've been told to do - another perspective different from my trainer that helps me break down concepts and start making my own inferences. I really enjoyed the encouragement to work to shift your mindset and I found her tone to be approachable and down to earth. I've already passed my copy on to one of my partners!
This book gave very practical guidance for a new agent! Shelley gives day to day instruction on what to do in order to succeed during the first year. She also teaches about how to handle failures and how to come back strong! The book contains practical knowledge that I have found my self going back and referencing!
author from canada, originally in radio sales. comes to united states and aspires fer the 'merican dream. shares how she aspires to get to know people and the slow process of building a brand, encounters a creepy guy at a house showing, hurts herself remodeling and has to do exercises to recover. shares mistakes made and offers advice on thought processes.
I rate almost all books I finish 5-stars… this is a minus one for the sheer number of spelling and/or grammatical errors. It was distracting, at times.
Ultimately the book is fairly well-written from one’s perspective. It is NOT a book that will turn you into a wealthy real estate agent by means of ’how-to’, but it is a great starting point.
I have an opportunity for a career change in real estate and this book has helped push me in that (scary, yet exciting) direction! You can read it over a weekend. Well-written, fun and informative!
This is my first RE book and I couldn't put it down. Shelley is thoughtful, smart and hilarious putting all her experiences and theories in a very easy way so that a newbie can understand.
This book is more mindset developing than skill developing to me. The author’s story is really realistic to me because that’s how I have confronted to my real estate career.
Shelley is realistic, insightful and has a lot of great tips. She talks about her failures and how those have helped her grow into the successful Real Estate Agent that she is today. For a business advice book, it grabbed my attention the entire way through.
Loved everything about this book. Awesome read. Lots of great advice and pointers mixed with reminders we all need! Loved everything about it and read it in two days. Be prepared to take notes and highlight!
I would recommend this book to all new agents. This will give you another point of view on how to look at your business and how hard you need to keep grinding. Well done. I am better now from reading this book.
These types of books are always a challenge for me to read, but not this one. Zavitz made you feel like you were holding a conversation with her the whole time. Her story is relatable, encouraging, and helpful.
This is an excellent resource for new agents (or agents needing to regroup) that will assist in helping them identify practical steps to take to craft the real estate business of their choosing.
Great read for new agents who might be nervous about starting out. It breaks down the basics of building a successful career in a straightforward and engaging way. With practical tips on networking and client relations, it’s a great roadmap for your first year.
Will be doing some of the things suggested in this book as I venture into my relator career. I won’t be getting up at 6 am as I am a night owl, I won’t burn myself out through over-working, but I’ll implement a lot more of her suggestions. Thank you for the helpful and honest advice.
I told my coach how much this book motivated me. I couldn’t put it down and finished in two days. (Coach has ordered as well.) Great motivation for new Realtors.
This fast paced book had good insights and stories. I wish it went a little more into detail sometimes but overall it was a good read that went over the basics pretty well.
This book really didn’t break down anything that I should be doing during my first year, it really just reflected on the highs and lows of her first year and wasn’t really applicable to a new agent.
