When I wrote my first novel, Paranormal Nonsense, I was a Captain in the British Army. I would love to pretend that I had one of those careers that has to be redacted and in general denied by the government and that I have had to change my name and continually move about because I am still on the watch list in several countries. In truth though, I started out as a mechanic. Not like Jason Statham, sneaking about as a contract killer, more like one of those greasy gits that charge you a fortune and keep your car for a week when all you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.
At school, I was mostly disinterested in every subject except creative writing, for which, at age ten, I won my first award. However, calling it my first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, I am having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and will claim to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in my head as they clamor to get out.
Now retired from the military, I live in the south-east corner of England with a pair of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, I doubt I will ever leave, the beer is just too good.

I almost put this set of books down, as it was quite difficult to become involved in the story line.
The first book's attempt at humour was a little lacking and almost misogynistic but I decided that I would try to plough through it. Once I got past the proper English and the sometimes very poor attempts at humour, I found that the story line linked through each book by a thread. English humour is often "one liners" and towards the last book, I found it quite amusing.
The characters were all friends, ready to back each other up in a difficult situation.
The humour was aimed at both male and female and the lead characters were all both energetic and amusing. The main character: Tempest Michaels showed that he was both caring and giving.
I will recommend this book, even though I took one star off for the disjointed storyline at places and the fact that it did not draw you in at or close to the beginning.
I am going to give the next set of books a read as well.

It took me a while to read this box set, as the stilted dialogue took some effort to overcome; having every character speaking in very proper English, e.g. "I did not think of that" rather than "I didn't think of that" made my eyes feel as though they were stumbling over the dialogue and my mind was banging into a wall, rather than flowing over the text naturally. This made it quite hard going for me, although I'm glad I persevered as the stories are quite clever (with the added bonus of being set in 'my manor'), the characters are beautifully written (Patience, Mr & Mrs Michaels and Basic being particular favourites of mine) and, although in my opinion not as funny as I think the author believes it to be, I can see and appreciate what he's trying to do, and it did, on occasion, succeed in making me laugh out loud. I'll definitely be getting the next box set, and heartily recommend you give it a go, too!

Tempest Michaels is the founder of Blue Moon Investigations, former army he decided to put his skills to use and open an private investigation business. Only when he put the add in the local paper they did a type error and put in paranormal investigator. He was surprised to find out how many people called for his help. His friends help him out when he needs extra muscle in a case. Love the characters and story lines in this series. Tempest is good looking but unsure when it comes to what women want so he is slow to respond some times and tends to loose his opportunity with them. His friend and former army buddy has no such problem with the ladies they throw themselves at him.

Gets better with each book!
Supernatural is not a genre that I thought would appeal to me, in fact I actively avoided it until I read a crossover book by Steve Higgs that included Blue Moon Investigations and found his take on the subject (that supernatural is just a bunch of hokum) one that I could accept. This series, told from a male perspective, is more “adult” than the Patricia Fisher cozy series and took a bit getting used to but the characters are human, diversified, appealing, quirky, loyal, passionate and brave. Each book has been better than the last and builds upon the previous books so I recommend reading them in order.

Tempest and a great crew of friends tackle mysterious claims by customers, proving, or debunking the paranormal. That is not to say they don't exist, just ask Frank, but Tempest is a non-believer. And his mission is to prove the rational explanation. The crew has a ton of fun doing that!

Way to much rambling
I have tried 3 separate times to read this book and cannot. As soon as a chain of action takes place the author jumps onto something else. In one page you end up changing thought process multiple times. The whole idea is to sink into a book and and get lost in the storyline. The only lost I experienced was in trying follow the authors Mexican jumping beans writing style.

Blue Moon Investigations
Wow! I am new to this author's books, so I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this box set. It was exciting, and filled with some really funny comments and innuendos. Since it takes place in England there are quite a few words that are not customary to us Americans, but from their use I could figure out what they referred to and some I was familiar with. I highly recommend this book series!

Very amusing
This is an excellent read, and to have the stories in an anthology is fabulous. It is very British humour, written from the point of view of an Englishman who sets up a private investigation firm, debunking paranormal cases brought to him. I love the dachshunds and the character and premise amuse me. Very entertaining

Not a Harry Dresden wanna be!
I picked this series because it said fans of Harry Dresden would like it. They were right, but not the way I expected. Good book lovable characters and enough action to keep you turning pages, long after you should have been sleeping for work tomorrow.

This is a fun little series, maybe a little sexist but fun none the less. Tempest—ex-armed forced and newly minted PI sets about to debunk paranormal events.
I have to admit, I picked this up because I thought I was getting a paranormal read. It is not.
Four out of five fairy kisses for this reader.

Not nearly as good as Patricia
I loved the Patricia Fisher mysteries..But these books just never made the characters as likeable for me. Too much talk about how his Mr Wiggly was feeling about various women really dampened my interest. I do love his dogs very much. And his dad is funny but overall just not my cup of tea.

Great fun!
A former soldier becomes a private investigator. His agency, Blue Moon Investigations is intended as a serious business, but a misprinted newspaper ad lands PI Tempest Michaels with an altogether different type of client. Hilarious, clever, action-packed storylines. I thoroughly enjoyed these books and look forward to the next adventure with Tempest and his friends!

Blue Moon and Tempest - a lovely find.
Just finished the first box set and loved all the books and can't wait to learn more about Tempest and his merry band of friends. Especially like the background as I lived in Rochester for some years. Will definitely be getting the next set. Highly recommend for a good story, wonderful characters and believable action.

A new Hero is Born
Story lines are the blood and guts of a good novel and these stories do not disappoint. The author's choice of characters and how they came to be are good friends of Tempest and they are a great support to the stories. Mr. Higgs I look forward to reading more adventures.

a fun read
A great British setting. No illogical jumps. Enough romance and excitement for everyone to enjoy. A combination of Private Eye, Police, and a hint of paranormal to boot.

British humorous drama.
When I was a teenager I read a book my mom was reading. It was by John Creasey. It spoiled me for many years. Reading this group of stories has reminded me of my love for British crime fighters. Thank you Mr Higgs!!!
