This book is supposed to be about how archaeologists encounter belief in the undead in their line of work. Chained skeletons, missing heads, stakes driven through the heart, buried under a protective layer of rocks - there are various ways this can go. I was excited to find this book at my library, since I am an archaeologist and into the darker myths. I was disappointed to find that this book has no footnotes, and further, that the chapters are mostly rambling on. Yeah, sure, it's a great idea to introduce the reader to the myths you're talking about, but the tone is that of a gossip collumn. Someone said, someone else wrote, it is told, and so on.
