Editing issues resolved on July 8th. Downloaded the current version, and it is incredible. Ignore the reviews and check it out yourself. I ordered book 2 already.
I love reading dark bully high school romance but this book wasn't for me.
I've really tried to give the chance to this book and I've read 20% of it but that is it. I couldn't connect with characters and I didn't like a writing style.
This is going to be an interesting review to write as I managed to finish the book, so it automatically gets a review and I will be giving it 3Ps rating but that is a very borderline rating. I am currently loving the whole Bully Romance storyline at the moment and so when I saw this book, I jumped at the chance to read it as I was excited as currently, this is a strong favourite trope of mine. Twisted Games, however, was not what I expected as I pushed on with the book in the hopes that it would get better, sadly it didn't. I could see where the author was coming from and the themes and storyline, she wanted to pursue but sadly the writing ability was not there. The sentences were too short and felt disjointed at times and the editing was atrocious and I am saying this not as an editing professional but as a reader as often I don't notice the editing as it isn't my strong point but this one I felt could have been run through even a basic editing program like Grammarly and it still would have been improved to what the current state is. We had several spelling errors like oppression instead of impression and the storyline jumped all over the place. I can appreciate what the author was trying to convey and I believe with a tidy-up and a good edit, this could be an amazing story but without it sadly it will not do too well in the reviews and I can see the author Ana Slash being pummelled down sadly. Readers, this book is available on KU, so if you do want to give it a go - I suggest using Kindle Unlimited as I did rather than forking out the $3.99 price I think is and buying it outright. But, be forewarned that if you can't read a book filled with editing errors then I say don't go near this one.
No rating. This book is a hot mess. I don’t usually read reviews before starting a book, preferring to go in open-minded, but this is the one time I wish I had done my research beforehand...
Thank you to Enticing Journey and the author for a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Twisted Games By: ANA SLASH
*REVIEW* 🌟.5 Oh, goodness. I think most of you would agree that giving any book a critical review is no fun; however, I sincerely hope the author will only benefit from any and all critiques. Twisted Games has a good premise that is very popular among readers of the genre, but the story is in need of substantial development in the areas of narrative structure, characterization and grammar. Sentences are short, choppy and too simplistic. Word choice is repetitive and dull, making the characters emotionless and unremarkable. The overall picture reminds me of stream of consciousness style, which is not very adaptable to a full length story. Basically, this story is sophomoric at best and needs work. As it stands, I cannot recommend Twisted Games. I do hope the author makes improvements upon and gives depth to this work. The potential is here for something more advanced and relatable, but it has yet to be fully realized.
Okay so here is the deal. I read this book and couldn't put it down. If you notice the other reviews say nothing about the storyline? This book is a page turner, and unique from the other bully romance reverse harem books out there. I enjoyed it. I will continue this series because it has a sharp cliff! I am addicted!
I bought this book despite the existing warning on typing errors and spelling mistakes, but I honestly wish I hadn’t. I was so disappointed that I am now writing my first ever recommendation: don’t buy it. It’s not just typo’s and spelling mistakes, the entire book needs editing - tenses are being confused, the sentence structures are wrong and sometimes the words just plain don’t make sense in the sentence.
I can live with a lot of mistakes in a book if the general writing is good, the characters are well rounded and/or the storyline is interesting; unfortunately none of these criterion were fulfilled here. It seems as if the author tried to impose to many things - and I was seriously driven crazy by the continuous use of the sentence ‘I think’ before every thought the narrator had. Not to mention the excessive use of adjectives in descriptions.
Just no. I’m sorry, but this book is not good. And I honestly hate to say this, because I’m sure the author is a nice person who did his/her best. I’d suggest using an editor next time though.
Life is too short to waste on reading books that don't captivate you. The storyline was weak. The writing was very entry-level. The way every single sentence was set up into its own. Paragraph was irritating. The story had potential, but the author just wasn't able to deliver it. The broodiness of the main male character made no sense. I found myself having to reread certain portions because an event was mentioned later on in future chapters that I don't recall actually taking place.
When this book started, I thought I had an idea on how the story was going to play out...BOY WAS I WAY OFF BASE. It starts out hot and steamy with a stranger on the beach but this was gets way beyond strange.
These kids are diabolical, psychotic and warped. The bullies are horrible. At first Bella has this tough cookie attitude but falls for the "hot guys".
I don't get how she is so go with the flow over rich, cruel guys. The "hot" clique and even the "crew" clique (Bella's not popular friends) have a few in them that need therapy.
As the plot thickens and we get teased about secrets from the past which come to light which makes you thank God you're not rich. Money is truly the root of evil and these characters are proof.
This one has a sharp cliff ahead. I need book 2 like yesterday.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this book and loved the characters.. I can't believe what is going on what is with her friend Susan sleeping with these guys and now Maxim, Killian and Mateo may be dead. Can't wait to see what will happen next for them.
This is the worst book I have ever read in my entire life. The editing is beyond bad - character names are confused, words are skipped in sentences. You have to just interpret what you think is supposed to be said because it’s not at all clear. The plot jumps around so much that there’s no way to know what’s going on. There is no build up, just insanely large events thrown in in one paragraph, most of the time with no resolution. Do not waste your time, i would give this negative stars if I could.
I see people in the reviews talking about this book being edited. I only read one version and I think it was the overly edited version. However, the story is very disjointed, it reads like a non English speakers version of English. This is not about grammar but language and how it is used. Also, the emotions of the character make the characters seem very shallow. I mean in my opinion it is like an outline of a body without the flesh and guts to give you a complete picture of whom the person is. I wish I had read the unedited version to see if the stiffness is a matter of the edit or if it is how the writer communicates. I am not a person who cares about perfect grammar unless it impedes the actual story. This review is not to hurt anyone's feelings and if it is being written by a non-native English speaker there is nothing wrong with that. Just remember if you are going to write American characters we don't speak so formally on average. I also considered only after reading these reviews that perhaps after some criticism you put this book through a word processing program which resulted in the formality. Whatever the issue don't give up if writing is something you love. As they say practice makes perfect.
I am so sorry but I actually had to stop reading only 5 pages in. The story appeared as though it was going to be gripping and I honestly wanted to continue to see it play out unfortunately I just couldn't get into it for all the errors, I'm in agreement with the first review it's not just simple grammar issues it was difficult to understand and get past. My advise if you do t want to use an editor (I dont) go through and read it over and over again, you will find issues each time, it took my over a year of doing this monthly before I was satisfied. A voice reader is helpful too, when you hear it read it makes a world of difference! I hope you do well and wish you all the luck
Received ARC for Honest Review. I Give this Book a 2.5ish/5, Listing as 2 Stars.
Cliffhanger: Yes
I Love Dark, Dark Romance & Bully Books, Put them all together and I’m a happy camper!
This Book, I know this is supposed to be dark, but it’s not even near the dark level I was expecting it to reach, and the Bullying was very basic(?) I knew what was going to happen, literally in Chapter one.
I can’t even put my rating list up after reading this, cause if I did I usually would put it into consideration for my final rating, but I can’t with this one. I DID not go in with negative thoughts, heck I didn’t even look this book up, I went on how it sounded. I’m surprised at all the bad reviews, but I guess mine isn’t better... There is a lot of drama, I usually list it, but in this book I was just underwhelmed? It was pretty obvious where majority of the book was going, and then there were sections where you were just doused with convenient info that just seems over the top, especially at the Cliffhanger.. There are a lot of repeated mannerisms, one in particular is ‘cocked an eyebrow’. The pacing of this book was odd, it was a continuous stop and go, it would be fast one second then dragging and then fast again, it was kind of mind boggling. The heat scenes..super short and fast, and archaic sounding and personally i wasn’t impressed. The typical words a for ‘male genitalia’ has been overall avoided, and C*ck was only mentioned I think 3 times, Penis (0), Dick (0). And has been mainly described in other ways, in case you were wondering. And I got it..Bella is/was a virgin and also that condoms were used in this book, point was made. Please note Bella seems to ‘scream’ a lot in this book. Overall the book seemed very.. high school? I mean I know it’s High School based, but it doesn’t need to be written like one. The odd choice of wording, very young sounding dialogue that seemed over the top, the simplicity of other things reminded me of well..Twilight, her name ‘Bella’ and her being super naive didn’t help much either. The book was very and literally ‘Over Dramatic’ and extremely Stilted, way too many dramatic type pauses. I don’t mind reading Young Adult and/or Teen Fiction, but I was expecting much more than what I got. I am curious to see what happens, but the overall characters just didn’t click with me. Plus Susan really annoyed & bugged me, she was too involved in the book and what was up with that info dump at the end and the odd wording & suspense she did that was practically unpalatable?
Would I read more from this Author? I don’t know.

Twisted Games was a short(ish) bully story that I'm still not sure what the hell is happening, even after I finished this first book. Like really confused, and not really having anyone's back yet. Ana Slash is new to me author, and I don't know if she'll get me on the same page in the next story or not, so time will tell. This is the story of Bella, who has to start a new school, after her mother marries a very rich man, and nothing is as it seems. From the first moment she got there, the IT (I hope that's correct as they were called many things) crowd is treating her like trash, and really bullying her hard. And I seriously would have felt more empathy for Bella, if she didn't act like she was tough, when she was all talk, (which really got annoying to be honest), while she kept going back to the a**hats who were harassing her. Like there were 3 dudes who she had a thing for, and they seriously treated her like the "slu" every last one of them called her, and she just took it no matter the humiliation. Like I'm talking about doing sexual crap to her in front of everyone, and no just no, especially because the so called "tough girl" became a weak a** female who I lost all respect for quickly. I mean, I was ready to throw my kindle across the room if the deep down sissy didn't stop saying she won't let them get away with crap, that they've never dealt with anyone like her. Yeah, I'm going on a rant, because I need this chick to actually stop acting like a rug laying down with the enemy, and back up her tired words. There's so many lies, and again, "tough girl" was being played right & left, and actually believing these scandalous guys who I know had parts in everything happening. I'm really hoping that the next book will actually take into account what I just said, otherwise, it will get to be too much silliness for me. Right now, I'm still intrigued enough to wait until those dark secrets come to light, but seriously, make up your own minds by one clicking it for yourselves. I hate to do this, but 3.5 Stars from me.
Twisted Games was a good 4 star read and book one in the Wexley Prep Exclusive High series. I really enjoyed this storyline.
Bella is starting at a new school after her mother had gotten married. Of course there are clicks at the school and she seems to capture the attention of the “It” crowd, they go to extreme lengths in bullying her. Bella was a tough girl and tried to be strong and stand up to them.
Killian, Maxim and Mateo are hot, rich and intimidating and Bella liked them and they all showed interest in Bella as well. There was something about these guys that pulled me in and I wanted to see more from them. We do get some steamy moments.
All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story, I really liked Bella’s best friend, Susan. This is my first read from Ana Slash and I was not disappointed me at all. I was pulled right in and didn’t want to stop until I was done. I will warn that there is a heck of a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Reviewed by MAustin from Alpha Book Club
This books was good for me in the sense that I liked the New Adult genre and what the theme was about: girl goes to new school, there are hot guys, there is bullying by said guys and other join in, girl doesn’t know why it’s happening…..lots of drama. It started off with quite a bang, but the main character just lacked sass and strength but I’m hoping that in the next book she really steps up to the plate and doesn’t take any crap from anyone!
Killian, Maxim and Mateo are the A-typical gorgeous, rich and mean boys of their school. But there is something about them which is intriguing and leaves you wanting more. There is a reverse harem sort of feel to the book and things between the characters do seem to escalate quickly. There are also little snippets of information that leave you wanting more and to know more about the boys in the book. Bella for me is just a bit ordinary as a main character but I also feel that that is what the author wanted. I don’t think the story would have worked with this amazingly, beautiful girl. Also at 18, I think she should be making some better decisions as well as giving her mum a bit of a slap (because I know I wanted too!)
Overall, a good read. I’m interested to see what happens with other characters including Susan (Bella’s best friend) and I would like Bella to grow some fem-balls…it needs to be done!
This book was so damn addicting but so darn crazy. Some parts I just couldn't understand. Other parts I had to say. Wtf. Where on Earth would that happen? It's one of those books where you have to know how it ended. You have a girl who's mom is a gold digging... She marries a man who is loaded w new money versus most of the people in town who has old money. The girl falls for a guy at her mom's wedding. She let him go down on her and then she sees him at school and the wedding. What he tells her when she first meets him and how he acts when she sees him at school is totally the opposite of what I thought. She then feels like she won't be the victim and stand up for herself and tries to be all strong, but I think she fell short. She kept making the most stupidest choices. I can say this book surprised me beyond anything with the direction that it went. Then the ending just had me wondering wtf happened and am I going to read that or not? I think I have to because now I am committed to this story. 🤔

So, this book was a wild card for me. I liked the premise for it, so I kept reading it, but there were a few things that I think would make it just a tad bit better for the next books in the series. There were so many gasps and sighs that I was like, I GET IT, and the characters seemed way younger than 18 in how they were acting, it just didn't mesh well.
BUT, on the positive side, I liked the world that the author created. The execution might have been a bit rusty, but I am intrigued on where it is going especially after the cliffhanger like crazy at the end and will probably check out the next book to see where it goes.
All in all, if you like bully romances and can stay patient and see the bigger picture while reading a book, I do recommend checking out this book and reading it!
PS: I would like to thank Ana Slash and Enticing Book Promotions for allowing me a copy of the book to read and review honestly!
I have mixed feelings with this book. The title, the blurb made me want to read it. I was really excited about reading it but from the start I was disappointed. First pages in and I felt like I had missed a lot chapter, it felt more a dream than anything...how can someone can react like this straight away...it let me perplexe for the rest of the book. Then the bullying started a bit but it was way less than I expected...it was not dark at all. I couldn’t connect with the characters at all. I couldn’t feel their emotions. The other thing that bothered me was the sentences, way too short, so many words were repeated. The action were jumping from one to another. No real ‘suspense’ was there to make you want to keep reading the book. I did it because I hoped for something better but nope. I can see the author may have some potential but I struggled reading this book.
I am never disappointed when reading a good Bully romance book!! And especially a Reverse Harem Bully Romance and that is exactly what you will get when reading Twisted Games. This is the first book that I have read by Ana Slash, I am not sure if it is her first, I couldn't find a big social media presence on this author.
I knocked a star and a half off the rating, because of the editing, normally I don't notice a miss spelled word here or there but unfortunately there were just too many in the book to overlook, so if you can get passed them, then you will love this book! And the use of the word "I'dn't" confused the heck out of me, until I realized what it was. So I'm not sure if others will feel the same way.
This story left on a cliffhanger, and I will pick up the second one to see what happens.
Bella is a girl that has to change schools because her mother married a rich man. Bella doesn't want to go to this elite school she wants to stay at her old school. Her mom is telling Bella this on her wedding day. Bella gets to her new school and it wasn't a great first day. Bella is trying to figure out the students there and why they are being so mean. It was a okay book just a lot of the same thing being said repeatedly. Like where it was left off at the end of the chapter. It would be repeated again for the new begging chapter. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
So this was a first time read from this author for me. And the premise of the story was really interesting. Bella is one of the new girls at Wexley Academy. But the school is ruled by 3 very hot boys Killian, Maxim and Matteo. I enjoyed the plot and I think this series has a lot of promise. Thr ending which is a cliffhanger was really unexpected and I liked that. There has been other reviews about the bad grammar and spelling etc. But the version I read was well edited. The series ended on a cliffhanger, which kept me interested and intrigued to see what happens next. I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Twisted Games was… well, let’s just say the title fits, because this was a twisted experience trying to finish it.
I went in expecting tension, spice, and emotional depth — instead, I got cardboard characters, dialogue so stiff it could splinter, and a plot that dragged like it was pulling a dead weight uphill. The “romance”? Forced. The chemistry? Nonexistent. The pacing? Somewhere between a crawl and a nap.
By the halfway point, I wasn’t even hate-reading — I was just counting pages out of spite.
In short: horrible. Truly. Not even the “so bad it’s good” kind of horrible — just plain “I wish I could unread this” horrible.
You ever read a book and wonder why you wasted your life reading it. Well I’m wondering that now. 1 star because I borrowed the book. And 1 Star because for some reason I made it to the end. Will I read book 2? Probably not. Unless it’s actually edited. This book was hard to finish. Half of it didn’t make sense. Half of it was painful at best. Why am I writing a bad review? I have no idea. Read at your own risk. I’m all for train wrecks. And I suppose that is the closest thing to what this book is.
First of all the grammar in this book is not it lol I had hopes of this being so good too. Like she was talking to Jessica but then says she turns to Lisa ? I’m like what ? lol also some things are being repeated ? Almost like the chapters are out of order ? The line “ I clench my fist” was wrote probably 55 times in 180 pages lol
This was definitely a high school bully romance so if you are into dark bully romance this is not it. The paragraphs where also written weird ? I did finish the book but don’t think I can continue.
I know this is supposed to be a highschool bully romance but it doesnt need to be written by a highschooler. Writing is terrible. Names are confused, the same things happen numltiple times (as if they re-wrote something but left the old version in as well) and the plot is jumpy. No build up or really resolution. Things just happen with no reason behind them. I don't recommend this book or series. If the authors other books are like this, I dont know if they are because I will not be reading them, I wouldn't recommend them either.
Ugh this had my head spinning in not a good way!.... over use of the word gasp jeezo did a three year old edit this? This could have been a brilliant story if worded correctly this was not worded correctly infact I had to guess what the right words were for myself but I want to know the rest if the story and hopefully the author has a good editor in hand for the second instalment as this was shocking
