The Highlander’s Forbidden Bride is book five in the Kilts & Kisses series by Madison Faye. This is my very first book by this author. It can definitely be read as a stand alone. It’s short, scorching hot, and even a bit suspenseful!
Iona has called Lord Lachlan and his daughter’s castle in Scotland home for as long as she can remember. Until her spiteful mother sent her away to Paris for several years. Now, Iona is back and her mother, Darcy, is no longer living at the castle but since it’s the only home she knows, it is where she returns to. Well, that might be part of her reasoning for going back. The other is Lachlan himself. Yes, he’s her best friend’s father. But, she has had a crush on him most of her life. Since she became a woman, that crush changed. Lachlan has lived in her fantasies every single night.
Lachlan’s holdings are being threatened. The only way to bring peace is to join his family with Iona’s family who is the one threatening him. So he decides that marrying Iona will tie them together and bring an end to the problems. Only this isn’t the only reason he wants to marry her. He knows it’s wrong. She is his daughter’s best friend. She is half his age. But he hasn’t been able to think of much else but her since she returned. Yes, marrying her is for political reasons, but there are also plenty of other reasons he wants this woman to be his bride.
I really enjoyed this. Did I mention it was HOT?! Iona is completely inexperienced when it comes to sex. But Lord Lachlan takes great pleasure in teaching her. And she is most definitely a good student! But, perhaps not everyone is pleased with this marriage. The characters from the previous books in the series are present in this one as well but as I said, not having read any of them did not take anything away from this one. So, if you enjoy a little bit of historically inaccurate fun as the author would say, then definitely grab this!

Talk about forrbiddennn!!! Iona is his daughters best friend AND WAS his ex bitchy/evil wife (who he never slept with at all like nothing it was a business deal they never even kissed..) daughter.. woooo talk about scandalssss!!
Iona was sweet, innocent and dirty when she wanted to be and has always had a crush on her best friends dad Lacblan but knew things wouldn't happen since he is older then her and other family drama, but her fantasy of marrying him is coming true but only in politics 😉 that doesn't last since Lachlan got a glimps and taste and lord he took what he wanted.
I did enjoy this one but there was something missing.. for me i think it was the sex.. it mentioned they slept together on their wedding night and in the epilogue a year later it showed the dirty filthy smut..
No ow/om, No cheating, dramaish, secondary chara, sexy time, celabite (10+ years) and a virgin gal
Recommend- yes/maybe but have to wait until madisons books are back on amazon

2.5 Smutty Stars
I randomly picked this book up on Amazon KU, since it was trending. I didn’t even look on goodreads to see what it was about or if it was part of a series.
If you are looking for an accurate historical fiction, you will not get it with this one. I actually thought I was getting a HF book and not a smutty read. BUT it was pretty hot.
I didn’t care for the storyline. I found the writing overly descriptive and very repetitive. How many times can you say you are marrying her for political reasons? There’s a lot of slang written and it kind of took away from the read for me. I know the author didn’t have to make it accurate, but a little would be nice.
With that said, it’s a smutty book. If you are looking for that, then that is for you. I’m not sure if I can handle HF smut, but I know where to go when I want that.

This was a great addition to the kilts and kisses series and honestly my favourite so far.
Iona has been besottedly in love with Lachlan for years but he’s married to her mother and her best friends father so has buried her love but now her mother is disgraced and her marriage to Lachlan annulled she can’t help her daydreams of them together. Lachlan announces they are to be married it’s all her dreams come true but she wants it to be real can she convince him to be her real husband and how will her best friend react when she finds out?
Lachlan knows he will marry Iona the beautiful daughter of his ex wife and comes up with a plan to marry her in name only but he soon comes to realise that will never be enough, but when danger comes for her will he be able to find her in time to save her?
Seriously a hot and steamy read that you can’t put down. Totally safe and can’t wait for more!!

Book 5 in this series focuses on Lachlan (catriona from book 3’s dad) and her best friend and step sister Iona (who had been in France for the last 2 years but came home for Cat’s wedding and stayed since she is also friends with the leading women in this series).
Lachlan is 40 and is now divorced from Iona’s mother (whom he never slept it) and Iona (19) has been staying in the castle with him since her return from France and also because there was no way she was going to follow her mother since her mother is a horrible person).
These two have lusted and had inappropriate thoughts about each other and although they fight the attraction, they can’t help themselves. It’s wrong and shouldn’t happen but oh my... that’s what makes it so fun!!
Again... total smut. I freakin loved this series though. I loved every book couple. This was simply too damn fun! I’ll definitely be reading more from this author!

I think this is my favorite of this series! It had a nice story behind it and some twists and turns. Lachlan and Iona have secretly lusted after each other for years. It’s a steamy romp to their HEA.

Like the other novels in this series, this was a fast and easy read.
A little slower, when it comes to the romance, but still fast-paced.
And there is, again, another threat to this couple.
All in all this series was fun to read, not taking a lot of time to finish it, with characters madly in love.

I am addicted to this series by Madison Faye! It has been a while since I have really enjoyed a Hilghlander romance, and while these are definitely not your typical ones, they are still quick hot and sexy novellas that I have been devouring! The Highlander’s Forbidden Bride was another that I truly really enjoyed. I mean what isn’t hot about a forbidden romance, add in some kilts, ad a sexy older hero and this book whore was in heaven. Which the added bit of suspense and danger I just couldn’t get enough! I don’t want to spoil it especially since it is such a fast read so I am not going to go into a lot of detail but will say this. If you want a quick and hot read with a side of forbidden and men in kilts, then The Highlander’s Forbidden Bride is the one you should be reading!

Guaranteed that you'll be left squirming in your seat and needing a dry pair of panties. I loved every single moment this book gave.
Who doesn't love a good best friend's dad romance?! The Highlander's Forbidden Bride was crazy amazing y'all. From the very beginning and that declaration from him (can anyone sign me up?), I was hooked and raced through the pages until the very last word. Iona and Lachlan were everything in the very best ways.
This series... unexpectedly good and wickedly delicious.
I highly recommend this book.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we get Iona Cambell and Lachlan McDougall. We meet both of these characters in Wed to the Warrior. This is the father and best friend of Catriona whom we met in that book. Lachlan is getting threats of war from the Cambell's and knows that if he marry's Iona it will make them die down. That is not the only reason he wants to marry her. His marriage to her mother of 10 years was a farse. It was also never consummated which meant when he wanted an annulment he was granted one. The one thing that came from his marriage that he did want was Iona. Iona had never met her father and Lachlan though a great man was not the father figure she was looking for. She had wanted him for an entirely different reason and had wished it was her married to this man. Can the two of them get past the age difference and how it will look to others or will others make sure that no matter what they will never get a HEA?
This is another hit out of the park by this author. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Brilliant book a must read
Another brilliant book in this series Iona gets her story of loving a lord for many years but he is her best friends father but through issues regarding her mother a Campbell and ex wife of Lord Lachlan he says tells Iona she will be marrying him for political reasons with her being a Campbell. Lachlan has been hiding his desire for Iona and he doesn’t know she has been doing the same the proposition of marriage even though for political reasons brings their feelings for each other out and the chemistry between them when they do. Iona is kidnapped by her grandfather and taking her back to France to ransom her back to Lachlan but with the other lords on his side and a certain Viking Tor they catch up and rescue her all is out in the open how they feel for each other. This series of books will be re read and enjoyed just as much as the first time

Without giving too much information about the story/spoilers away, just know this is a deliciously good book which I enjoyed reading. Everything that Madison Faye wrote - the chemistry, the feels and the sweet moments which went into this story made for a sensational novella with fabulous characters, awesome plot and keeps the readers coming back for more.

Wow! I have been waiting for this book to come out since book 3. I couldn't stop reading it once I started. This book was fantastic!
Iona stayed with Lachlan McDougall after the fiasco with her mother. Lachlan has come to her with a marriage proposal. Her mother and grandfather are making waves after her mother and his marriage was annulled. She is fine with it since she has always had a crush on him. Lachlan knows his attraction to Iona is wrong but he can't stop what he feels. When he discovers that she has feelings for him, nothing will stop him from making her his. What will happen when someone from their past comes calling?

This series was fast instant love which is fine for me at times. I found each book to be similar with just different characters. I was looking for short reads in between my longer books so these fit the bill.

The Highlander’s Forbidden Bride is the fifth book in the Kilts and Kisses series, but could be read as a stand alone. Iona is Lachlan’s step-daughter, but he’s about to marry her. Strictly for political reasons, to avoid a war between the families. But both Iona and Lachlan feel something very strong for one another, beyond just attraction. Will this marriage just be a way to avoid war, or will Iona and Lachlan admit their feelings to everyone?
This book was a lot of fun! I loved that Iona and Lachlan were trying to convince themselves that this was just a marriage of convenience, but they both felt something much stronger than friendship. I loved that Iona had such loyalty to her friends and to Lachlan, that she was innocent and sweet, until she was in Lachlan’s arms, and I loved that she wasn’t afraid to push or act. Lachlan was brave, trying to do the right thing, also extremely loyal, and I loved how alpha and fierce he became around and because of Iona. They definitely had a lot of passion, there’s a lot of love between them as well, and I loved all of the drama with her family. There’s quite a bit of action in this book, both in and out of the bedroom, so I was kept glued to the book throughout the entire story! I’m not sure if Ms. Faye plans any more in this series, but I’ve loved her fun take on historical romances and can’t wait to see what she’ll write next!

Squee! I absolutely LOVE surprises, and author Madison Faye delights all of her readers, with a return of the Kilts & Kisses series, and "The Highlander's Forbidden Bride." This fifth book of the series, takes a bit of a turn, in that our heroine faces an arranged marriage, but in Iona's case, the thought of marriage to Lord McDougall, does NOT fill her with dread. Iona has been having wicked thoughts about her best friend's father, for as long as she can remember. Lord Lachlan McDougall rids himself of a disasterous marriage, to Iona's mother, but then, finds all that he owns is in jeopardy. A political marriage to his stepdaughter, seems to be his only recourse. Not that Lachlan hasn't been having carnal thoughts about his own stepdaughter. Whew! This sexy, romantic short is over-the-top with all kinds of taboo-ness, ( it's a WORD,) and salcious, deliciousness. You'll get updates from characters, earlier in the series, too. Expect drama, humor, suspense, amusing adventures, and intensely steamy scenes - MY kind of read! I received this book as an ARC from the author, and I volunteered this review.

There is a lot of affection and deep feelings between the future couple as they make the arrangements for the wedding. There is also Darcy, Iona's mother and Lachlan's ex wife to come and try to mess up the plans to save Lachlan's land and properties. This was another adventurous and sexy romp with some serious subject matter, but not enough to spoil the sexy side of this very hot couple as they try their best to be together and have everyone be happy about the match.

This is the fifth book in the series and they should be read in order. Lachlan McDougall is many things. Iona has called Lachlan castle home for many years. He was married to her mother. Goodness knows what he ever saw in her or why he married her. Now he is about to be her husband too. Iona has fantasized about Lachlan many many times but she never dreamed that she would actually become his wife. Not that she is complaining about getting married to him. It maybe more than she could have ever dreamed about. This book has a couple taboo’s in it. Much older man and much younger woman, marring your step daughter. But who cares about that anyway right? I enjoyed this book so much. I love all of Madison’s books that I have read so far. I can’t wait for the next one. These books are steamy quick reads.

Well well Madison sure surprised me with this one. This has been such a fun and wonderful little series I've so enjoyed reading it.
This is Iona's story and you know it cements what I always say, you can't choose the family you're born with but you can choose the family you love and live with.
Her family are vicious and very unlikeable her own mother would be on the top of that list and Darcy continues to be the wrecked little witch she is. I so adored Tor and the scene when he met Darcy.
I understood the "misgivings" going into this marriage but as it was said, you can't control where your love goes, who your heart picks for you. Cute love story with some whew! hot scenes. Loved it. Enjoy.

Lachlan has been a part of Iona’s life for a while and when he tells her she’s going to be his wife he takes her by complete surprise. Having been married to her mother which she has no contact with, the marriage announcement is sure to be scandalous. Given the events that happened in Cat’s book, her mother/his ex is not going to go away quietly. When Iona is kidnapped by her family, Lachlan will do everything he can to get her back because he’s finally ready to admit his true feelings for her and admit the marriage is not a political move but one of true love.
I absolutely love this series and hope that Madison continues with the stories of Tor’s vikings. Who doesn’t love Vikings. Read through Kindle Unlimited

All about Iona Campbell a nineteen year old girl who has lived in the Lord’s castle for more then ten years, and Lord Lachlan McDougall my BFF’S father, who is dominant, rugged, powerful, handsome and the highlander. My mother Darcy Campbell married the Lord to calm the distant grumbling coming from my fathers family! Darcy was sent packing when her manipulative ways started impacting the Lords business. The author wrote a story about a young lass who has had deep desires for the Lord for several years now! Read about Lord Lachlan & Iona and see if they are able to forge a future for his kingdom, even though there is twenty years age difference!! I say give this book a shot, because love has no bonds!!!
