Fending off Coal’s memories by night and his overprotectiveness by day, Lera is at her wits’ end—and the muscled warrior is only the start of her problems. With Han on his side, Headmaster Sage now wants to move the Prowess Trials to the academy, gathering the continent’s royals right at the heart of the cracking wards—and the dark creatures leaking through them.
Sidelined by a shattered arm and haunted by worsening nightmares, Coal needs Lera to stay put for a few damn days until he heals enough to fight. Instead, Lera becomes more reckless than ever. When she brazenly risks her life to win an argument, Coal’s last thread of control snaps.
If Lera wants to play deadly games, she’ll need to get through Coal first—and he’s done playing.
HIDE AND SEEK is the sixth episode in the GREAT FALLS ACADEMY novella series. The story takes place in the same world as Alex’s KDP All Star-winning POWER OF FIVE novels but can be read independently.
Alex Lidell is the Amazon Breakout Novel Awards finalist author of THE CADET OF TILDOR (Penguin) and several Amazon Top 100 Kindle Bestsellers, including the POWER OF FIVE romance series. She is an avid horseback rider who believes in eating dessert first. She writes as both Alex Lidell and A.L. Lidell.
Oh goodness!!! FINALLY!!! Honestly, I don't want to give away the spoilers but thank goodness! I was losing my mind.
Coal and Lera continue to butt heads. River still denies any feelings towards Lera. Shade watches and is very confused but still doesn't do much with his feelings. Tye though....in this episode, I've never wanted to punch him so hard! When he gets his memories back, he has a lot of groveling to do. I can't believe how mean he could be. He completely ghosts Lera and acts like she's nothing to him. I get that it's not Tye Tye but it's still Tye. It would be Tye if he didn't find the quint and I think that's what hurts the most. I don't truly blame him but I also just want to shake him awake!
Lera finally gets through to one of her mates but has she really made an enemy out of another and with The Night Guards plans about to unfold will the others remember in time? Will aid come from Lunos??
The book was still just as short as the rest of the episodes and the most important information obtained happened at the very end. I don't want to give any spoilers but finally some headway has been made with Coal, only took 6 books for some progress and there's still 3 other guys to go - sigh. The writing was good, so there's that going for this book and it kept my attention but I am ready for this to come to a close, I sincerely hope there isn't that many more episodes after this. I wish there was more good to say on the book but there really isn't.
This is a good story but is a prime example of why series "books" annoy me. This story comes off more as a magazine story that refuses to get to the point than as an actual book. Analysis: Well written but hard to enjoy.
Lera is reaching a breaking point, but it is always darkest before the dawn. Lera and Cole are butting heads over her hunting alone at night. His answer, harsh training on the sands, so she is to bruised and exhausted to do anything but sleep at night. Sleep eludes Lera. She is still caught in Cole's nightmares. Shade still hunts for the fae women who he laid claim to. Thoughts of Lera still weigh heavy on his mind. While his mind says she is a cadet, his body wants to lay claim to her. Lera makes it hard to stay away. Tye surrounds himself with his Prowess team. He now actively ghosts Lera, since Han took him away from the dungeon. When Sage announces the trials coming to the Academy. Lera seeks Tye out, hoping he will help her keep the trials out of the Academy. She only pushes Tye farther away. Lera fears she may never get him back. River is River. The protector and teacher. The King. He is as always planing for the worst. She now has to contend with oral exams. Flunking out of the Academy may be a real possibility. Time is running out. Lera is no closer to finding the crack in the wards. Exhaustion is riding her hard. The nightmares need to stop. Confronting Cole in his room may be the craziest thing she has done yet. He may have agreed to help the guild, but he is still not her Cole. When Lera and Cole confront each other over their nightmares. Cole can't help but fight for Lera. He has no fight left for himself. The past starts to repeat itself. The truth sets them free. Fast paced and steamy. Who Han is, is revealed. Love this series. It's an automatic buy for me. I was lucky to receive an advance copy and this is my honest review. 3 books to go, can't wait to see how it ends.
Alex Lidell is killing me here. This has definitely been my favorite thus far!
Lera is in a loop of pushes and pulls with her mates. One step forward, ten steps back. My heartstrings were pulled with Hide and Seek. Unreachable mates, a thinning veil, cadets with bad timing, and no new leads; it’s all on Lera’s shoulders.
With Shade wanting to find his mate but being pulled to mind and soul to Lera is an inconvenience. the only logical thing to do is stay away until he finds his mate right? But his job as a healer makes that kind of hard when Coal is pushing Lera to her limits trying to keep her safe from herself.
And now she needs to find a solution to keep the mortal world safe, but her time is running out. Turning to Tye seems her only option, but with him keeping his distance after their time in the dungeon, that becomes a tasks harder than she expected. Then it crumbles at her fingertips when the chance finally comes, sending her back to square one. While River is kind of on team Lera, his hands are tied and he can only do so much.
Now with her connection to Coal growing stronger, his dreams begin to effect her sleep, making things even harder. When she finally has enough of the sleepless nights, she’s just about ready to give up. But Coal has never let her off so easy. Lera gets knocked down and never stops getting up. This time she finally gets a reward. Let’s hope she gets to keep it. If not I may cry!
Now where to start ! This is an amazing adventure and needs to be read in order. It's also a reverse harem romance adventure Lera is still trying to handle the mission they were sent on all by herself since her men still think they are human and don't remember her or the mission. Only now Coal knows she is hunting the monsters from the other side and since he has a broken arm . He doesn't like it that he can't come with her and his making things harder. While most of the time I think I just want to hit Coal over his head for thing he does in this book lol Lera and Coal does have a fun twist at the end lol. Shades' wolf knows Lera but the man this thinks that girl he meet in the woods (past book) is his mate lol River doesn't seem to have a clue. Tye? Wants his sports Bad guys! OMG they seem to have their plans going fine. What ever they are lol but someone better find out before it's to late. What an amazing action packed story. So much going on, so many twist and turns. You never know what will happen next. Its awesome. I love the characters, action, drama, mystery, betrayal, spice, intrigue, and everything else the author tosses into the mix. I couldn't put it down and can't wait for the next book. I am totally hooked on this series. Voluntarily review a copy and I honestly loved it
Alex Lidell is back with another addition to her fabulous Great Falls Academy. I love this sequel series to her Power of Five books. Hide and Seek, Episode 6, keeps up the pace, this time with Coal mixing it up with Lira as his memories from before totally mix him up. Yes, that sentence would make much more sense if you’d first read at least book 1, and preferably books 1 though 4 (all separately reviewed and worth reading by themselves). Bottom line here is that once more we have a wonderful plot that’s expertly written and filled with wonderful characters. Newcomers, while I will hold to my recommendation of reading books 1-4 of this series first, the same doesn’t hold true with regard to the Power of Five series. Great Falls Academy can easily be read as a stand-alone series. The only downside to doing so is that it’s a slight spoiler to that other series if you want to read it later. As for Hide and Seek, but for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed, I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
So in the beginning I was over Coal and his overbearing ways. I know he wants to protect Lera but he is always super extra with it. And it doesn’t help that Lera’s fae side is being suppressed by the amulet. But I get it. He still gets on my nerves. Until he uses that extra stubbornness and fight with in him to fight against the veil magic and get his memories back. Woop woop 🙌.
Now Tye has just about pissed me off. But I should have known he was going to be the most difficult to get through to since he was the first time around. Constantly wrapped up in the stupid trials to truly understand or even focus on anything else. That veil is no joke.
And then it almost went down with Shade. I was so over Vivian cry baby 😭 self. I mean she was being extra pushy. And I want to know why. Because she was interrupting some good progress being made between Lera and Shade. It was maddening. I wanted to smack a chick.
Anyhoo things are getting soooo good and I am waiting for book 7 to complete this beautifulness that is Greag Falls Academy.
The Veil is weakening and now the Prowess Games are going to be held at Great Falls Academy. The Royals will all be in one place, in danger. Lera is all alone in this fight and she's about to break carrying the strain of Coal's nightmares and her inability to get through to her males.
Again, this book is mostly a read and repeat episode. Stars! With one significant event (THANK STARS), I can only hope that now things begin to really get going. Otherwise, at this rate, we will need 24 books to recover memories and then another 62 to solve the Veil weakening. Tye will have won the Prowess Games 3 times (while retaining his biggest jerk crown), River will waste away with his guilt, Shade will go full wolf, Coal will have a full mental break from his nightmares of the Islanders, and Lera will have learned how to read and do math and will still have a dresses to change into despite getting them torn or muddied in every book. Sorry for the rant, I am frustrated with the lack of story movement. It's such a shame really, this good have been so good had it been done with the reader in mind.
I am glad to see that things are getting better for Lera in ways, but this story is tuggin at my heartstrings!!! I can only hope that all works out in the end. I mean SOME progress is better than none, but to have one of your mates tell you that they now see you as an enemy when you are considering their well being (albeit wanting the individual to drop out of the prowess trials as well) is a bit harsh. I can see how Lera is thinking when she sends Shade to Tye. But honestly, if I were to see one I loved injured in such a manner I would do the same, regardless of their training. I would want to make sure that they were taking care of themselves.
Yet again Lera finds herself facing off with Coal's nightmares and the tables get turned on her when he brings hers up that he has been living with. Although it seems that she hasn't been able to sleep. So, of course she is gonna face off with him!
I am loving this series, but I find it funny that she was called "Mortal". Guess you will have to read to find out who called her that because I am tryin to with hold any spoilers!
So, Lera is still doing her own thing. Trying to save the world without her men’s help. However, Coal is finally aware of her nightly activities but is currently in a dilemma because of his injury. Lera, is as stubborn and Coal is doing Coal stuff to Lera.
River doesn’t make much an appearance in this book. Tye is still trying to avoid Lera which is hurting her. I think the next book would be more on Tye.
Finally, the ending. I’m so happy. I don’t want to spoil it but I can never get enough of saying finally. I wonder who will be next?
So, we are aware who the antagonists are but we nothing yet is being done. I wonder if it would take all her males to regain their memories before saving both worlds.
I say this everytime. But yet again another brilliant read from Alex Lidell. Another thrilling episode. I love falling back into Leras story. Oh my word, i love the turn of events of this book. I was jumping for joy because something happened i so desperately wanted from the start. ( no spoilers here. )
This was so short, gosh it left me wanting so much more, in a really good way.
I also feel really sad as i know we must be heading towards an end and i really don't want these episode to end.
These guys hold so much potential for more stories to come. This world can go so much further i hope Alex decides to go further and gives us a lot more.
These are a must read and i can't wait for the next episode. Superb as always. 5 stars from me.
I knew the last book was going to really catapult this series into more. This book was everything I wanted it to be, especially because Coal. Always Coal. He needs her to stay still while he tries to heal up. His over protectiveness is back because Coal is back. He's pissed that she's been running around without any back up.
Lera refuses to be sidelined, even if it would make Coal feel better. Things are really heating up and with the trials happening soon, the pressure to take this outside force out seems to be building every day. It's starting to get the Power of Five feeling back and it just fills my heart with joy. Love this quint so hard.
"If Lera wants to play deadly games, she’ll need to get through Coal first—and he’s done playing."
Another fabulous episode in this serial series that follows Lera and her quint. (These episodes must be read in order, and I highly recommend reading the original Power of Five series first before the Great Falls Academy episodes as well). In this sixth episode, well, I haven’t made it a secret that Coal is my favorite and... oh my Coal. I was ecstatic with his plot thread in this one, and how it evolved - what happened is something I’ve been ardently hoping for. I also enjoyed seeing a little more of Shade and the dramatic conflict with Tye. As usual, I’m eagerly awaiting episode seven. 4.5 ⭐️
Yes! It's just getting better and better :D Another short but HOT episode. Ostara celebrations are over and Lera is getting fed up with her males, especially now that it's possible the Prowess Trials are coming to the Academy. I mean... seriously? Sage is just going to ignore the magical threats just outside? And FINALLY *happy dance*! I won't reveal what happened... but it was bloody well time! :D I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and omg... looking forward to the next installment!
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
I am so in love with this series!! Lera is still fighting the effects of the amulets while trying to save everyone at the same time. Cole is not helping though as he starts to target her in order to prove a point though I must say it does not work out exactly like he planned it no doubt. Quite a few surprises this time that leads me to have great hope for the future installments. A fantastic addition to this wonderful group of characters. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
Excellent !! Everything Alex Lidell writes just keeps getting , more exciting, more thrilling and ALWAYS EXCEPTIONAL !!
I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK IN THIS SERIES !! If you haven't read it yet , start from the being and read the first series in this wonderful world of characters " The Power of Five" the first series which you can see where they all started it will really pull everything together, then start this series " Great Falls Academy" You won't be disappointed I promise you.
Yay! Coal finally, finally broke through the veil!! I really hope more of them start to do so quickly. I absolutely LOVE the Power of Five series and really wanted to continue with the characters, but I struggle with bully romance books. This is a great story, but my heart breaks for all the characters, especially Lera. I am too tender hearted for this kind of sustained conflict between love interests. I still gave it 5 stars though because it is still an excellent story from a superb author, despite my tender heart.
This is my favorite book in the series so far. Lera is finally not alone in her fight against the evil coming to Great Falls. There is action, love and excitement. I wish the book had been longer. I wanted to keep reading and find out what happens next. I guess I'll just have to wait for the next installment for Lera's mates to find out who they really are. I can't wait!
I really like how this one links back to the original series. For example, a few comments and saying are repeated, like how Coal thinks he is bad for her, just like he originally did. These parts end quickly though so it doesn’t feel repetitive but I really liked and appreciated the subtle connection. And I loved the ending!! It feels like everything is finally falling into place for the big finale!
This is the most nail biting inducing book in this series so far. I was on the edge of my seat the entire way through this episode. Things just get harder and more complicated, there's a tiny bit of light at the end of the tunnel but so far away! The interaction between the quint is even more complex, and I wanted to shake some sense into Tye so much. I'm already dying for the next episode….
This is yet another amazing hit from A.L. I can't believe Vivian blocked Shade and Lera...but I should've known it wouldn't be that simple. Coal and Lera proved that in the end. She's got one of her mates back. He has his memory intact. Now to save her other 3 men. Can't wait to see what happens next.
This installment is, of course, just as good as all the previous. While Lera takes a few steps back with one of her males, stays the course with another, she makes strides forward with 2 of her males after all. I can't wait to see how this will play out in the next book!
Wow love seeing this series grow. In this book we see Lera and Coal fight for each other more and watch as River and Shade fight against wanting Lera. Whilst we see Tye falling under the vale more. With intense scenes and a hot steamy moment you will not be left disappointed.
This was a fantastic book, had me turning pages faster than any other of the episodes thus far. And that’s saying a lot as they’re all exceptional. Whereas I’m so excited about how this book finished, I’m saddened because the completion of each book means we’re closer to the end. Noooo!
Secrets are uncovered in the 6th book in this series and the book seems to be starting to heat up nicely i think. Especially with Shade and definitely more so with Coal. Smoking Hot!! Im so happy that things are looking up for Lera well with at least one of her Harem. I can get enough of this series. Its so good
