Eurghh!!!!

I hate to even say this but I did not finish this book for 2 reasons. 1st reason being the grammatical errors, extra words, missing words and spelling mistakes. I can come with a few errors in a book but this was absurd. The second reason being the fmc waffled, she waffled internally on and on. It wasn't funny, sassy or snarky. I think where books are concerned you know fairly swiftly if you are going to enjoy a book. At about 10% I didn't think I could read anymore, I read a further 20% and I just couldn't find the flow of the book of the characters. It's a shame as I think it has potential and maybe if the errors are fixed it may make it easier to read.

I have had my eye on this baby ever since I have saw it advertised. I was not expecting what happened! And it is a nice change up to the usual high school bully romance. There are things that are difficult to read, so if you have triggers, be warned on that. I don't want to give anything away, but I do want to say be warned.

The story is about Jess, and she had the love of her young life Callum. But something happened one fateful night. Something to turn Callum against her and Jess set adrift in pain. Two years later, he is back. With friends. He looks at her so different now. Before it was with love, now with hate. His friends join in. They tell her that she belongs to them, but she will never let anyone hurt her ever again. The guys set out to make her bow down, but she has news for them. She does not bow down for no one!!

Break Me, Baby had me totally hooked on this story line. There is so much going on here. There is this thing that happened in the past, what is going on in the present, and just who hurt Jess to begin with? Ugh I really need to know. The chemistry between Jess and the guys are hot, there is not denying that. You will definitely love to hate them. And Jess, ugh I just want to hug her. She fights so hard, I just need to hug her.

So overall, if you haven't given this read a try, I would recommend 100%, especially if you are into the bully romance right now. There is a cliff hanger but to me it's not bad at all.

Good read

Enjoyed this book and it’s characters. So glad the female main character (Jess) didn’t forgive the guy who had hurt her so much like in a lot of other similar books. Callum finally knows the truth about what happened to Jess and rightfully regrets his actions. Looking forward to seeing what Callum does to win Jess’s trust back and see how the other 3 guys and Jess’s relationships develop in the second book in the series ..

I won't read an author that doesn't put trigger warnings in the blurb. If I'd purchased this, only to find out there's a TW in the first couple pages? I'd be highly upset. TW's should always be free information.

Also the author asked to be contacted if reviews were less than 4 stars... that's not how this works, and quite frankly it's a little icky if she's asking people not to leave reviews unless the review is 4 stars or better.

So emotional!!

I loved this book, i couldn’t put it down! It had me through the ringer throughout. What a strong female lead to go through all she did and she still goes on with her life and standing up against Callum. Toward the end of the book though i actually felt sorry for Callum and im hoping the next book has more romance and more steamy scenes.

Such a deep and dark tale. Heartbreakingly sad. So much confusion, hurt feelings, denial. While this is a story there are so many truisms that it hits the heart and breaks the soul. I can’t wait to read more of their story.

At Last a strong woman

I enjoyed this book because for the first time in a long tine the main character has enough pride that she stays strong and doesn't give into the man because of temptation. I really hope this continues in the second book because I've already pre ordered it. Belladonna Cunning you've done women proud! 👍

Wow...to call this a bully romance is putting it very mildly. This book is more an emotional torture "romance".Don’t get me wrong at all, I loved it. Jess, the heroine or antiheroine in this story, she is a phenomenal character. The story is well written and gritty, but sometimes redundant in the was teenagers are.

Good story

I love this storyline so much! It has so much potential to reach people. I just don't feel like that was utilized. When I read this type of story I want it to have me in tears! Way to much "thought fillers" throughout the enter book. I am looking forward to book 2 because I want to know what happens. I want to like Jessalyn better than I do....

I gave this book 3 stars because even though the plot resembles a lot of the other bully romances I've read, started or skimmed and I did think it would be a little 'tropey' it was different from the others enough that it was able to become the second best bully romance I've ever read. Although I did not like the main H very much at all, I did like the h enough that it saved the book for me. I also loved Karma, her best friend. It was much better than the typical bully romance, and at least the plot line was something horrible enough to actually change people and not some tiny little misunderstanding like they normally are. It was well written and enjoyable enough. I will be checking out the next book in the series because I'm hooked enough that I now need to know what happens.

The downside of this book is that it's another bully romance where the main characters dated when they were young, were very in love, and then a huge misunderstanding makes them break up and he blames her because it's her fault and of course she cheated on him, even though she NEVER does in any of these books, and he decides to torture her for the rest of their time in school without ever figuring out what really happened. I'm starting to wonder if all the male characters in these books are too stupid to function or think rationally.

I received a free ARC of this book from the author via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Unexpected and creative departure

3.5 stars

An unexpected storyline and a departure from the typical bully romance. And thank goodness for that. Great book demonstrating a strength of character by the heroine that would be more than most could sustain. Here I think the author took some poetic authority in dishing out too trying of circumstances such that the heroine’s plight was unbalanced, overly disadvantaged. It did render the story with more angst, some darkness and just the feeling of teetering towards emotional breakdown. So maybe mission accomplished.

The book started out and moved extremely slowly in the beginning and had me skipping ahead a bit until almost midway when we finally meet the hero as well as his closest friends and the story comes into its purpose. Having felt as if the story started midway through, the tale could have continued a bit more, in this first book, having these main characters interact more, instead of simply some bullying until the great reveal. There was also a bit too much internal dialogue. Despite those, a great book and I’m very curious as to where the next part leads.

Heartbreaking story about love heartache and stupidity, callum loves jess until at a party thats hes totally wasted at he sees something and assumes the worst about his girlfriend jess. He then leaves the town for two years when he comes back hes changed hes isnt the sweet guy he used to be hes mean vile and full of hatred for jess hes intent on making her life hell....
Jess shes destroyed at the party first she sees callum snogging and groping alexandra then when she goes to the bathroom something so brutal happens that it changes everything about who she is. Not only does she have to deal with whats happened to her alone because callums left but she has to deal with everyone hating her and bullying her at every turn.. she embraces who she is now only to be left ripped open once again when callem returns with three others and shes attracted to all of them the problem is they want to destroy her.... all of it could have been avoided if callum wasnt so stupid and just asked jess what happened assumptions destroy and in this case they destroyed jess.....

So so so good

Jesus Christ almighty, this book was epic, I loved it. The story was amazing, it was so real and raw with emotions and feelings it’s like I could feel her pain and sorrow even though she acted tough, they boys as always hot, dangerous and fucking mean and hell but also with a kind and sweet hearts underneath their facade. Anyway not going to reveal a lot. A must read guys and damn I just can’t wait for book 2 because I need to know what happens. The cliffhanger is epic the way she left them after revealing the truth the pitiful pain she left Cullem in was epic. Can’t wait for book 2 must know where the story goes.

Good start

There are times when it feels repetitive and lots of information background dumped on you. It takes till the end for the plot to pick up... Once it does though I became intrigued. I like the main character. She is strong and yet vulnerable. She has been let down by a lot of people including her parents. She takes a traumatic thing and makes it her own and her strength. I like the guys too. We don't get much info yet about the other 3 yet... Plus there appears to be nerferious things in their relationship that will come e to light in more books. The end makes me ready for more to see them put the pieces together and begin to heal together.

Emotional, and Intense
This is the first book in the Silver Creek High series, and the first book I have read by this author. This book was not a disappointment, and I am happy I took the chance to add another author to my list of must reads. This is the story of Jess, her first love, Callum broke her heart 2 years ago, and left her in a world of pain. He is now back, and with the help of some friends, they are now Jess' bullies. But Jess is no the same girl she was 2 years ago either, and she isn't gonna submit to the torment. This book is emotional, intense, dramatic, and steamy, great read.

I thought this book was so well written. The intensity built as the story progressed and the characters were revealed. The heartbreak she felt was realistic and I had to reread some of the passages because it made me emotional. The bullying and the villains were perfectly written because I felt the reality of the scenes through the descriptive prose. The ending was stunning and I am hooked. I wanted it not to be true. I loved how she reacted and that was once again a brilliant scene. Recommend

Love!!!

This book shocked me on the most pleasant way. With all the “RH high school bully craze” going on right now, they are all starting to blend together with similar themes. But not this one!!! This one sticks out with a unique plot and a mystery that leaves you hanging. Not gonna lie, some of the bullying is pretty damn dark, but it just adds to the angst. I love the Heroine! She’s spunky and strong and tough. I can’t wait to see what she does in the next one!

Epic

This is the first book in this series by Belladona. And also the first book I've read from this author. I have to say I'm addicted, this book will make you run through a bunch of emotions. Anger. Disgust. Pain. Sadness. Pity and even envy. But you will feel Jess' pain right from the start till the very end. I'm excited to read the next book in this series

I didn't want to like this book

I HATED this book when I started it. I appreciate and love a strong yet broken heroine. The never-ending internal dialogue of Jess got old really quick. It felt unnecessary and like Cunning was trying to hard to write something funny and edgy that stands out. My anxiety kicked up a notch as I read this, and next thing I knew I was done with this book. I wasn't going to finish it; my curiosity was piqued and I originally decided to push through until I couldn't handle Jess anymore. I'll admit I skimmed a lot of the book, but that's only because there is more internal dialogue, repetitive thoughts, all wordy as fck, than there was actual story. The last couple chapters had me holding my breath and I don't think I was blinking. Everything came to a head fairly quickly, but when it did, I DEVOURED this story. Cunning managed to write a despicable hero I HATED who ended up breaking my heart at the end, and rooting for him. All of them actually, and as much as I love RH, for whatever reason, I don't love them in my bully romances. I started reading this thinking I was wasting my time, and was going to just finish the chapter I was, until I ended up at the very end, now antsy AF because I have to wait a month for the next book. Check this book out. It isn't the best bully romance I have read, and the writing style definitely didn't work for me, but I will continue this story because of how this book ended. When the story was actually moving and characters were interacting, I enjoyed the book. It was the wordiness of her thoughts on between the action that almost ruined the story for me, and I hope we get more story with the next one. I need to read Callum and the guy's next move, and about them redeeming themselves. Not read the same repetitive ideas running through Jessalynn's brain

I complained a lot about the wordiness of her internal dialogue, and redundancy, but I also own my hypocrisy (you'll get it when you read this book) and love myself some irony 😂

Crazy book. like OTTT. Heroine and hero at 15 decides they want to have sex, they wanted to do it at a party. So both got drunk. Hero made out with OW, because who knows why and he was drunk. Heroine saw that and drank from first solo cup she found, to down her misery in alcohol. Ofc that drink had rape drug in it and she was raped... but not by some random teenage hornbag.. nooo.. it was a adult black ski mask wearing guy (wth? how that guy got inside house, inside those bedroom etc...?)
There was clothes ripping and blood and stuff and then she was in the bathroom, where hero found her and declared she is a slut and cheater, not listening to her (and seems he did not notice the damage?). (that is the prologue or "before" ).

Heroine decided to deal with the assault by coming... loose... she had sex.. a lot.. with many many guys. Like she used sex to forgot, she liked sex as she said. So basically woman-whore (when compared to players and man-whores), who only has ONS.

So hero went away and bullied her from afar, then he came back, bullied some more. Dated her nemesis etc .. ugh.
FINALLY she told she was raped and end of book 1.

Oh yeah... and the storyline with her mother.. heroine is beaten like every day, cuts and bruises and nobody notices. She heals also overnight etc. She gets beat up at school also.. and she punches other bitches to face , breaking their noses etc. Everybody is hitting everybody.. kinda... OTT. Oh and why does she not tell about her mother? She does not want to go to military school, she never considers she has a father and would be sent to him.

I skimmed a bit of book 2 and OTT will go on .. like her lost father will date one of the guys mother, that ski mask dude kills her mother and tried to kill her etc... wth.. way OTT and unrealistic for me

Starts out with really strong main heroine just to turn to complete idiocity after.

The story is about girl, raped and betrayed at 15 ,who survived 2 years of physical and psychological abuse after that on her sweethearts orders. She was tortured, abused and cast aside by every single person in her life. She survived it all, knit herself together the only way she was able to and came out hardened at the end. To face her betrayer, to endure more unfounded cruelty, to endure more physical and sexual abuse. Now,how in hell author resolved the situation? She didn't . Our heroine becomes weak slave of her arousal and forgives everything. There is no reason for forgiveness, nothing Callum did or said, nobody apologised, nobody resolved the situation. It was maddening and idiotic and honestly hard to read. By the end of book I am disgusted by every single character in this book including heroine. To be honest, I don't even think the weak excuse of misunderstanding can solve this and nothing author makes her characters do can atone for the premise set out.

As for writing. It is tolerable. What is not tolerable is the absolute lack of editing, spell check or basic sentence building. Lots of words are either missing completely or used repeatedly in the same sentence, making it hard to read.
That topped with waaayyyyy to mutch page count spent on text that doesn't add anything to the story. You can get whole chapters of nothing happening, nothing explained, nothing done. It is so bad that I had to skim over countless pages of nothing to peel away trash to get to the actual story.
Do not recommend it.

It was okay. A LOT of inner dialogue and I mean A LOT. It needs a professional editor to clean up the inner thoughts that took away from the story. The inner thoughts were repetitive and awkward. A lot about nothing. The heroine goes into depth about all her thoughts regarding sex with men/strangers. The heroine has sex with random guys. It does not matter how old they are or who they are. Jess calls other girls sluts, but I did not understand that since she slept with random men.

Years before, Jess was in love with Callum. When Jess thought that Calum was cheating on her, she ran to the bathroom and there something horrific happened to her. She never got the chance to tell Callum the truth since he moved away and Callum just thought the worst. Since that night, Jess has been called a slut at her school and she thought she would live up to the name. It was sad that all that happened to her. Plus her mother mentally and physically abused her. Jess's senior year in school, Callum and his two friends come back to town and attend her school. They torment her. They become her bullies and make her their main target.

This all could have been resolved with a conversation. I was hoping that there was more to why Callum hated Jess so much, but there wasn't. Misunderstanding overload.

This is all my opinion. You may love it. Reading is subjective.

I have since finished the series.
Here is my review of book 3. I should have stopped at book 1.

I’m sorry, what??? First off, the book got my attention because of the sexual assault aspect. I love a good traumatic read where the main character gets to heal. I liked the take of a sexual assault victim going the route not usually depicted of becoming overly sexual to deal with trama. I wish more books showed that because it does happen often.

HOWEVER, I feel like this book had major gaps in the story. Like at one point, I went looking for a missing chapter because something was referenced that I did not even read! Like an entire conflict was talked about vaguely but I had not read about it anywhere in the book. This is ridiculous. I felt like for a book with this much potential with the characters, you needed to have ALL THE DETAILS in place and this was severely lacking. Plus all the grammatical errors were frustrating.

The ending of the book was probably my favorite just because i love a reveal and it was heartbreaking when Jess has her panic attack but I felt it was all rushed. I feel like the sexual assault should have actually been explained and talked about so that we could get the full effect. I applauded Jess for walking away at the end but I feel it was done to continue the series, not because shes actually going to stay strong and not forgive him easily. I mean she basically was already saying that she forgave callum for cheating because he was drunk! Excuse me? No thanks.

Also, book 1 is not a reverse harem. It might be leading that way but nothing happens between the other guys and Jess besides appreciation.
