The second book was slightly confusing. Too many people were involved and the storyline was lacking coherence. Although it is told by Logan’s pov, in the end I realised that I didn’t get to know him.

A suspenseful little fairy tale that kept me captivated till the end.

Part two of this duet is told from Logan’s POV. Now that everyone is aware of the dangers they face and the truth of his parentage has been confirmed. Logan is Faves with finding his place amongst the world of royals as well as his place by the side of the princess who’s risked her life to save a stranger.

The suspense only grew in this conclusion to their story especially now that Princess Susanna has uncovered the deep levels of betrayal that started it all.

This duet had my heart racing from start to finish.

5+⭐️

A Valiant Prince had a lot to live up to after reading A Fierce Princess! I was desperate for the conclusion of Susanna and Logan’s story, as they seemed destined for tragedy. I was not disappointed; book two was everything I hoped for and more.

Susanna’s bravery and persistence is nothing short of admirable. I’m convinced Susanna could slay dragons if she put her mind to it! A damsel in distress she is not, despite the fact she is clearly in peril.

Logan is valiant and caring and practically perfect in every way. Despite being thrust into life-threatening danger, he handles each situation with nerves of steel. He is a rock of fortitude.

The plot is angst ridden and suspenseful. I read until my eyes went blurry and I could read no more. I was positively mesmerized. I needed the conclusion, yet I never wanted the book to end.

This Poisoned Pawn duet was my first introduction to SE Rose’s writing. It was absolutely phenomenal. I have already begun pestering my friends to read this outstanding duet!

I'm going to leave a scathing review and i'm going to apologize for it.
-
The blurb was promising, the story was not.

It had so much potential, but i felt it went down the drain with awful writing and plotline.

Every action was described and nothing was left untouched, and there were way too many dialogues.

Alright, maybe the amount of dialogue was fine, however the content was so, so dry. And as well, i felt that too much "he said" and "she said" and similar words of different variations were used. Understandably, yes, it's dialogue, however, the repetition of these verbs makes the writing seem very unnatural.

There are more "telling" than "showing" in here.

Additionally, there were some really awkward lines as well. But, i'm just going to share one.

Exhibit A:Your father, the king, is fine.

The character would know who their father is, and what he does. There wasn't a need to state "the king". The only circumstance why i can think of that makes that excusable is that the doctor is trying to re-affirm himself. Even then, what for?

Frankly, I felt the book was a let down since page one. This boiled down to personal preference, and is especially personal as the prologue was written from the first POV of a child...and I disliked it. It felt like an indication the story wasn't going to be a trip i'm glad i'm going on. Certain lines from this chapter contains vocabulary that a child likely wouldn't use, which results in it coming off a bit bizarre. If it had been told from a third POV, it would've been quite nice.

The smut scenes were quite odd as well, off-putting if you will. Every movement was greatly exaggerated, dicks of steel, explosions, nipple pinch orgasms, i found it rather hilarious. This sort of sexy smut is not up my alley. But hey, if you like it, you do you. And also, you might like this book!

2.5. I'd give it a 1 but i liked the cover and the sexy scenes. Sorry.

There was a lot of pressure to live up to Princess Anna from A Fierce Princess, book one. Anna and her shenanigans made for a great book that was full of romance, suspense, mystery and intrigue. So, Logan had to be as dynamic and large and in charge as our ‘Fierce Princess’. Did he succeed?

A Valiant Prince picks up right where the untimely cliffhanger is placed. Right from the beginning, Logan displays those valiant characteristics one is looking for in a prince. While the family home is in shambles and the royal family is temporarily displaced, the hunt for the unknown assailant continues. Anna does her best in locating who this mystery person is, while the bodyguards attempt to keep her and Logan safe.

As the story continued, I was doing my own search and was suspicious of everything. The plot in A Valiant Prince continues with mystery, drama, angst and suspense, but I didn’t feel that it reached the same platitude as A Fierce Princess. I loved watching Anna and Logan’s love story to continue to evolve. It was beautiful to see how these needed each other but were willing to give the other the space to be independent.

All in all, I really enjoyed this duet. I loved to watch Logan grow into the prince he is supposed to be. I was thoroughly happy to witness the love throughout the family as they came together as one during this trying time. I was intrigued and couldn’t wait to get to the end. The only downside of this book is that I didn’t feel that it lived up to everything glorious in book one. In its own right, it was still a good read.

A Valiant Prince

A Valiant Prince is Book 2 in this series, and you must read these books in order. This one is from Logan's POV and it starts right where book 1 left off. There is so much going on - who to trust, why all of King Michael's children have been separated. I loved all of the characters in this series. I'm hoping to eventually get books about Susannah's brothers and maybe even her father. Susannah and Logan are sent to the states, and are not to contact her brothers. They are sent to where Logan grew up and near his grandparents. Meeting the grandparents and them meeting Susannah and Pete, Logan and Hendrix the bodyguards was really cool. Princess Anna (Susannah), is still running her computer programs, and decides she doesn't like the separation so she calls a person she feels she can trust that works at Interpol. They come up with a new plan, and begin to put it in place. There is just so much going on - Logan finds out things about his mother he never knew, and is still trying to process that he is a Prince. This series of books kept me enthralled for the whole time it took me to read both books. So many twists and turns, and who to trust and who not to, sightseeing, romance, suspense, royalty, hot guys - this series and book has it all.

A Valiant Prince is the conclusion in The Poisoned Pawn Duet, so it's imperative that you read A Fierce Princess FIRST! S.E. Rose is brilliant at weaving a suspense filled story, so if you skip, you won't have a clue as to what's going on. And on that same note, since giving any sort of description of my own may or may not give things away, I'm going to be very cryptic about it all. We were left on a HUGE cliffy that nearly had me ready to hunt Ms. Rose down, so it seems like it took FOREVER to get this book, and yes I'm aware I'm being dramatic, but still since I had to wait any length of time other than opening this book right after Book 1, I was going to be this way to be honest. It's a race against time for Anna, Logan, & Company to figure out who is stalking them in order to eliminate Logan who used to have a simple life. There's a ton of players involved, and who the hell knows who they can trust?! The twists are at an all time high, so my f-bomb dropping was at new levels of loud! It seemed like every time they got one clue, it only led to 20 more questions, so yeah, I honestly didn't guess who dun it until it was revealed who doing it. If you want to know what I now know, well you know what you have to do, yep, get that finger to one clicking! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Once again I am blown away by S.E. Rose when it comes to A Valiant Prince and the whole The Poisoned Dawn Duet. This is one fantastic series and read in A Valiant Prince. You must read A Fierce Princess first. I love how A Valiant Prince picks up right where A Fierce Princess left off. Logan (or Eddie..he goes by both) really steals your heart and makes you all gooey in this one. I love his strength and his love for Anna (Princess Susanna..Suzy..you know the drill). They just fit so well together and the more you learn of their childhood you get why they have this feel of an instant bond. Anna is still as fierce and amazing as ever. She will stop at nothing to figure out who is behind everything. A familiar face is featured here and there in this one. So if you are familiar with S.E. Rose Portentous Destiny Series you will know. Secrets come out as the twist and turns come more dangereous for the two royal families. I so want to say so much when it comes to this book and series but I'm going to stop with just saying that you will love Logan and Anna even more in this one. I was glued to the pages from the start and really didn't want to put this down. I love where we are taken in A Valiant Prince. Go one click this book and seires because you wont regret it.

I loved book 1 A Fierce Princess and was looking forward to A Valiant Prince, here's my review.

Book 1 is told from Anna's POV, and book 2 is from Logan's but somehow it didn't flow as easily for me as Anna's book.

The storyline picks up from where it ended in book 1 and yep it was a bit of a cliffy. This part had a lot going on, lots of characters to keep track of, especially if you were trying to figure out who the bad person was! Intermingled with that was Logan and Anna's relationship, which jumped from fun and flirty on a yacht to pretty serious very quickly, maybe a tad too quickly for me, but that's how the events in the story through them. They are good together though, but could do with going on a few more fun dates as tough as that is as a royal!

Part of backstory puzzled me, how did they not recognize each other as Suzie and Eddie, we all change as we grow but some characteristics stay the same.

So yes I had a couple of issues with the conclusion of this story BUT it was still made me turn pages to find out who did it and how the lovebirds end up.

I would be interested to see if the author decided to write one or both of the brother's love story.

I was so happy to get back to Logan and Anna and their mystery! We were left with a cliffhanger in the first book, A Fierce Princess, and pick up exactly where that one left off. Logan, Anna, and their families made it out relatively unscathed, but the questions of WHO is trying to end so many people and WHY are still unanswered. After a quick trip to the US, then back across the pond for more intrigue, Logan and Anna chase down possible leads and serious concerns as they get closer to figuring out the entire puzzle. There are plenty of “wait, what?!” moments to be had, and while you may think you’ve got it all figured out, the end of this race is still unexpected and deadly. Rest assured, though, Logan and Anna still manage to survive and find their HEA!

I truly enjoyed this book and the duet as a whole and can only hope to revisit these royal families to find out how Chris and Auggie find their HEAs, as well.

Part 2 of the duet is here and the cliffhanger is finished!! There are so many questions to answer in this book and the author does an amazing job of not only answering questions, but also tying things up with a nice bow and presenting solutions for everything that went down in the duet.

This is not a lighthearted romance. There is danger, suspense, intrigue, and so much freaking 'who dun it' that you cannot help but get sucked in to the masterful web by the author.

Is there romance? Absolu-freaking-lutely.
Are the characters complex but real? YES!
Are you 100% cheering for a HAE for Logan and Susanna? Yes and yes!

These two are not typically how you would see a royal couple or even royals in general but seeing them and how their family act in a time where someone wants them dead is extremely interesting. I am a huge fan and am really looking forward to reading more by this author!

PS: I received this book for free but am voluntarily and honestly reviewing it.

A Valiant Prince is book 2 in the Poisoned Pawn Duet and boy oh boy did this book have me hooked. Book 2 picks up where the first book left off, however this book is written from Logan's point of view. You will definitely need to read these books in order so that you know what has been going on leading up to the start of this story.

Full of drama, suspense and the mystery surrounding who is out to kill the members of the royal family this book was full of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I love these characters and thought that their chemistry was amazing.

This was definitely the perfect ending to such a wonderful story. I just hope that we get some more books in the future that focus on Anna's siblings because they were very intriguing as well. By Alisa

The Poisoned Pawn Duet, Part II, was just as exciting and suspenseful as the first book. I held on for the duration of the entire ride never knowing what I'd read next in this amazing fairytale. I loved that nothing got in the way of Anna and Logan's relationship. I found it sweet that they were each other’s first loves from a young age. This fierce and valiant couple found their happily ever after while they saved their families from a tragic end. I had a slight idea on who the mastermind was behind the hits. I was kinda right with my guess, but I was also left in a state of shock when I found out who all were involved.
I enjoyed reading these two books and loved how were the one ended the next took right off. I will be looking forward to reading more of this author’s books in the future.

My heart has been pounding out of my chest since the conclusion of A Fierce Princess. I love that A Valiant Prince is Logan’s point of view. Logan and Anna are in danger and someone is out to kill not only Logan, but anyone who is a threat. We are led on a journey with this couple that will have you on the edge of your seat and biting your nails. Not only do we follow their relationship as it grows in to more than friendship, but we also wonder what they will stumble on next and who they can trust. Anna’s brothers are completely immersed in this duet and I really need to know more about her family. We learn more about Logan’s past and those who are important to him. Great duet and absolutely love these royal families.

I loved both books in the duet equally!

I already reviewed these wonderful romantic thrillers and I'm upset that all my hard written comments disappeared!
Still S.E. Rose deserves recognition for writing a masterful story that really needed two books to complete!
The plotline was complex, compelling, emotional and seriously exciting! While Anna and Logan were wonderful, all the royal families and assorted characters were well developed and critical to the novels!
The Poisoned Pawn Duet was brilliantly designed and twists, surprises and perplexing storyline were deliciously revealed! I read both book in two days, since I couldn't stop reading! This author is new to me but I seriously need to acquaint myself with the rest of this series and indulge in her other series!

Title: A Valiant Prince
Author: S.E. Rose
Format: Ebook
Genre: Romantic Suspense, royalty
Standalone: No Read book 1 A Fierce Princess first
Part of a Series: Yes book two in the Poisoned Pawn Duet
POV: Logan
Steam Level: toasty
5/5

An epic finish to the duet! This book jumped the line as I had to know what would happen. Just like the first book, A Valiant Prince kept me guessing. I had no clue who was behind the assassination attempts and I just had to keep reading. Very few, if any, mystery's keep me guessing. I absolutely love Logan and Anna. This duet was amazing.

I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.

A Valiant Prince by S.E. Rose is book Two in The Poisoned Pawn Duet. This continues the story of Logan and Susanna 'Anna', so you really should read the previous book 'A Fierce Princess' before starting this one.
This book starts where we left off with the mystery of who is trying to kill them. Of course Anna and Logan go to another level of hotness that burns up my kindle. This Duet had everything I love to read about in a romance but with the added mystery kept me turning pages to find out what would happen next. I hope to read more books by this author in the future...loved this Duet.

This book was by far my favorite of the two in this series. Logan Winters is a true knight in shinning armor in every little girl (princess) dreams. Once I started I couldn’t put this book down and I didn’t want it to end. This book has the perfect amount of history, drama, love, friends and family in it. This book also made me feel so sorry for how the other life lives. What we take for granted they never experience but what we long for is their every day occurrence. But as always SE Rose did an outstanding job with this book and series, but can we get more!!!!!

If you´ve been following along you know that A Fierce Princess (part one) left us in a major cliffhanger. A Valiant Prince picks up right where Princess left off. This one is in Logan´s POV and it is just as amazing if not more than Part 1. Logan and Anna´s relationship grows stronger in this part even while their lives fall apart around them. There are so many twists and turns added to the mystery of who is after the royal families that it will keep you guessing. Trust me. I didn´t expect what happened but I´m glad it did. I couldn´t put this book down. I hope there will be more books in this universe because I fell in love with the characters both main and secondary and don´t want to let them go. I highly recommend this duet and will be keeping a close eye on what SE Rose gives us next.

A Valiant Prince is the sequel to A Fierce Princess which ended in a major cliff hanger. This book picks up exactly where the first book left off but instead of being written in the POV of Princess Susanna, it’s written from Logan’s POV. Logan is brave and today devoted to Susanna and while there is still someone out trying to kill them, they are learning more and more about each other and about the paths that led them here.

Great follow up story to A Fierce Princess. I loved Anna and Logan individually and together. This book doesn’t disappoint.

What a finish for this duet.

It was one heck of a mystery to solve. I am ok with saying I was clueless.

I loved loved this story!

Anna and Logan were again perfectly matched in this story and it showed all the way through. They worked hard to solve the mystery and they worked so well together.

I hope we are going to get a Chris and Mia story and then maybe an Auggie story as well—he needs to meet his forever.

I'm sorry but this book was a mess.
The writing was super disjointed, there were too many characters and the way Logan and Anna behaved while in hiding honestly baffled me. I didn't feel a connection with either of them, not even Logan even though it was mostly his POV.
Book one was a lot better in my opinion, at least from what I can remember.
The ending also felt super rushed. It's a no for me.

I could not put this book down! I read it in one sitting because it had me hooked! Princess Anna and soon to be Prince Logan have a totally combustible chemistry! The hot hot hot scenes are amazing. The suspense and intrigue is gripping. Who is trying to kill these two royal families and why? A really great conclusion to this duet.

This was an amazing mix of romance and mystery. The last book left us in a cliffhanger and I waited somewhat patiently. And the wait was definitely worth the wait. Logan and Anna lead us on a trip of betrayal and anticipation oh and did I say romance. There was definitely that. Couldn't put this book done and look forward to more from this aithor.

The danger is great with this book, and Logan and Anna's relationship is getting stronger. Logan is adapting to news about his heritage and is learning more secrets than he knows what to deal with. The connection is strong with this pair and they need it when they don't know who to trust. It kept me on the edge of my seat.
