These days the term is more often written as a single word than as found in the title of this book (1984). Nevertheless, this is an essential book on the topic. Written from a (moderate as opposed to vulgar) materialist perspective. Presents worldview universals as well as a cross-cultural model of worldview. Examples include that of the California aboriginal (pre-European contact) and the peasant of Mexico.
