5 Star Review of A Girl Like You (Magnolia Sound #2) by Samantha Chase
I was intrigued by Sam Westbrook from the first time he appeared in the series. I knew that the woman who would finally tame the wild man would have to be unique and someone special; that is certainly Shelby Abbott. I also knew that there was so much more to him than his reputation.
When Sam is forced to move back to Magnolia Sound to meet the terms of his great grandfathers will, he is resentful. Particularly since it appears that the towns folk have not forgotten his juvenile hijinks.
Shelby is shocked when Sam pays her attention, after all she has always been a “good” girl.
I loved how Sam’s attention brings out Shelby’s inner strength, determination and how she blossoms. I also loved how all in Shelby was in her support of Sam.
Sam and Shelby are total opposites and yet they really do belong together.
Is Shelby the woman who can soothe the savage beast? Will she be able to handle a fling knowing that Sam’s time in Magnolia Sound is limited?
A Girl Like You is a spicy, romantic, love story that was heartwarming. I was so happy that they were able to navigate through all the issues they both had and get their happily ever after.
Although this can be read as a stand alone, I recommend that you also one click the other two books in the series as they are just as enjoyable.

Shelby and Sam were AMAZING together. I don’t think Shelby could have been a more perfect heroine for Sam. She built him up when he didn’t think highly of himself, but she was also a more grounded heroine. My heart aches for Sam and what he was dealing with, whether it was facing his past, or granting her great grandfather’s wishes. I love the side of Shelby he brought out. She became this heroine who no longer went with the flow, but voiced her opinion when she wanted change.
I enjoyed catching up with the secondary characters in this book, and can’t wait to get Mason’s story! This is definitely a must read!!

A Girl Like You proves that stories are at their most compelling when the author keeps it simple. Sam and Shelby, represent a little piece of every heart that dares to dream, but fears the outcome. Sam is bad boy intent on being good. Shelby is a good girl that yearns to taste how it feels to be bad. When the angel takes a walk on the wild side, is when the drama really begins. Can two misfits survive small town gossip, while taking a chance on love? Chase brings a little slice of heaven down to earth in every rainbow that she writes. Her stories brighten every heart they touch.

Sam’s Story, one I wanted to read. In the earlier books, we get bits and pieces of him, but only what the author wants us to see. We are all aware of the “reputation,” and then add the conditions of his inheritance, and Sam is on my radar.
Sam wants to be under the radar, but the small town of Magnolia Sound does not see him as an adult. Unfortunately, they are still holding on to their views of his past.
Shelby is a PK (Preachers Kid), the good girl, and the town librarian. But, when she meets Sam in a bar, all of her insecurities bubble up, in addition to her attraction.
Watching Sam and Shelby navigate their relationship is not an easy road. However, Sam is much more than what is on the surface, and he is working hard to change the town’s views of him. I like how both Laney and Sam work to boost Shelby’s self-confidence.
I am excited to read Mason’s story now.

A GIRL LIKE YOU, the third story and second full length novel in the Magnolia Sound series by Samantha Chase, is a delightful story of opposites attract. The story is well-written and compelling, and the characters are wonderful and very believable. I think this is one of Samantha Chase’s best!
Shelby Abbott is a very refreshing, lovable lead character. She is the opposite of the gorgeous, self-confident leading ladies that we usually see in romance novels. She is a librarian and a book worm, and she has spent her life under the thumb of her pastor father and religious mother. She is self-conscientious and somewhat mousy in her normal appearance, and her definition of a great night is take-out Chinese food and a movie at home. Little does she know how much her life is about to change when her friend and co-worker Laney convinces her to put on some make-up and a sexy outfit, and to spend the evening with her at a local bar.
At the bar, Shelby recognizes local bad boy Sam Westbrook immediately. Unable to shake his notorious reputation, Sam left Magnolia Sound to start over in Virginia. He was forced to return to Magnolia Sound, however, when his great-grandfather died and left him a landscaping business. It came with the condition that he stay for one year or he would need to relinquish the business to his cousin Mason. In the aftermath of a hurricane, it has been easy for Sam to build up the business, but he still has plans to sell the business and return to Virginia when his year is up. He doesn’t feel that the townspeople will ever let him put his reputation behind him.
Sam doesn’t recognize Shelby when he sees her at the bar even though he has seen her many times around town. Their first kiss is electric, but it just doesn’t feel right to Shelby who doesn’t feel that she and Sam would have any future if he knew who she really was. When she leaves the bar that night, she leaves Sam without having given him her full name or a way to contact her. Luckily, they stumble into each other a few days later, and, to use a cliché, the rest is history.
I loved this couple! While they seemed to be opposites in every way, the fact that they could see past the outer shell into the soul was something they had in common and what drew them together. Shelby tried to help Sam see that he was more than his bad boy reputation, and Sam tried to help Shelby see that she was a sexy, desirable woman, spite of her up-bringing. I liked that they didn’t immediately fall into bed with each other, and that their romance was allowed to develop at a more comfortable pace. I also like that, when they decided the time was right for sex, the author knew how to set the stage and then shut the door at the appropriate time, leaving the actual sex scenes to the reader’s imagination.
Magnolia Sound is full of many interesting secondary characters, most of whom we’ve met in the previous books. They add continuity and depth to the story and give Magnolia Sound that hometown feel.
A GIRL LIKE YOU is a wonderful addition to what is turning our to be a great series. I can’t wait to get Mason’s story and to see how Shelby and Sam are doing in the next visit to Magnolia Sound.

This book has it all.. I don't know what to say but dang, it had me from the start.. Shelby and Sam are the cutest couple.. Samantha Chase keeps getting better with every book she writes. I hadn't expected to get while reading but it hit me and it hit hard. Sam Westbrooke was a guy that never took anything serious, he was a serial dater and hopped from job to job. That was until his great grandfather the patriarch of the family dies after the hurricane that hit Magnolia Sound. His great grandfather left him a lucrative landscaping business but had very strict instructions pertaining to the business, Sam must stay in Magnolia Sound for a yr and if he does he can either keep the business or sell it. Sam had no intentions of staying after the yr was up and planned on selling it off. Shelby was a sweet, quiet, mousey librarian who led a quiet life. To he best friend Laney a boring life. Lane decided it was time to take things into he own hands and take Shelby out for some fun and perhaps meeting a guy. Sam was a good guy and had grown a lot since his younger years but the good people of Magnolia couldn't look past any of that. He needed to get away so he and his cousin Mason headed for the city and went to a new bar. Shelby had known of Sam and his transgressions but she didn't care, she was taught to forgive and not judge. All she knew was that Sam Westbrooke was hot. They both happened to be at the same bar. Shelby had accidentally bumped into Sam while walking up to the bar, not realizing at first who she had bumped into she shyly apologized and was getting ready to walk away but couldn't because Sam had grabed her hand. He asked if he could buy her a drink and also asked if she wanted to sit and talk. Shelby was so nervous after she realized who he was.

Sam is in his own personal nightmare. He hates being back in his judgmental home town. No one can forgive the immature stunts he pulled & give him a second chance. No one until Shelby anyway.
Shelby Abbott is the prim, proper librarian daughter of Pastor Steve from the Baptist Church. Shelby has never rebelled against her parents or their expectations. Well, not in any major way. She did have LASIK even though they said it was a waste of money. Then on a night out with a friend, a dream came true. Sam Westbrook spoke to her & danced with her.
Sam & Shelby are the perfect pairing. At first it looks like there is no way they’ll work. They manage to bring out the best in each other. Shelby helps Sam to see the other side of living in a small town and Sam gives Shelby the courage to assert herself & take control of her life. The characters were all well defined & reminiscent of small towns. It’s always painful to find out your parents aren’t what you thought they were & Shelby’s heartbreak & disillusionment came through perfectly. This was a really good story & I can’t wait for Mason’s story.

Venture on down to Magnolia Sound, head over to the B & B and catch up with the Westbrooks as you are taken on yet another wonderful journey of love and HEA from the amazing author Samantha Chase. Samantha has always held a special place in my heart ever since I read her debut novel Jordan's Return (my most favourite book ever) - this was the book that got me into loving Romance and I have read all of her books. In true Samantha Chase style you are thrown into her wonderful worlds and Magnolia Sound is no exception. I am loving this series and the Westbrooks. After reading Remind Me I have been dying to see who would steal Sam's heart. Sam a bit of a hell raiser in his teens has a bit of a reputation and is itching to get out of the Sound away from all the whispers and talk, but with inheriting his Grandfathers landscaping business and having to stay for a year he doesn't have much of a choice. Along comes Shelby the local librarian and soon Sam has a reason to stay in Magnolia Springs - that is of course until he realises who her father is and starts running for the hills. Can Shelby convince Sam he is worthy of her and prove to him that he is also worthy of the town.
As usual you won't be disappointed with this one. I actually finished it in a few hours. Bring on Mason's story.

This was a cute, quick read. Both main characters were decent, although they also got equally annoying after a while.
Sam was a reformed manwhore, but more by accident and not because of any introspection. I immediately didn’t think I’d like him when there was a mention of hooking up with two sisters separately in the same night by accident. I hate manwhores so that was hard to move past.
Shelby is very insecure and under her parents’ thumb, so it took a while to warm up to her.
Wish they had acted more like independent adults instead of insecure teenagers for much of this, but it was still a decent read.

There were some things in this book that didn't really seem believable for a small town where everyone knows each other. But I did enjoy reading the story and I am looking forward to reading the other books in this series. I did like that the main couple really didn't have any big secrets from on another that continued throughout the book and that Sam was a good guy dispute his reputation.

This book was an absolute pleasure to read. It is equal parts Sexy, Sweet, Adorable and Heartwarming. Sam and Shelby are just the sweetest couple and I loved being on the ride as they found their HEA.
Sam is back in Magnolia Sound for one year to run the landscaping business his great grandfather left to him. He had to leave his life in Virginia which he really did not want to do in order to do that and now that he is back, he is having a hard time escaping the reputation he had when he was younger. The relationship between Sam and Shelby is one of immediate attraction but Sam doesn’t recognize our heroine the first time they meet. A Girl Like You was a cute read. Sam and Shelby were perfect together and I enjoyed watching them fall in love.
Sam is one of those people who doesn't like to be too tied down to a person or a place or anything. He moves around and was a bit of a trouble maker growing up, but never did anything super bad. He never planned to go back home and live especially since everyone in their small town will look down on him for what he did in his past and he can't stand that. They will only see who he was not who he has become and it is frustrating for him. Only his grandfather passed away and left him a business to run, a business he probably would have been happy to have if he wasn't forced to work there for at least a year or forfeit the inheritance. He doesn't like having to do things, he doesn't like all the judgmental looks he gets from everyone in town, he just is not too happy. He is counting down the days until he can leave again.
Shelby is a librarian in town and loves living in Magnolia Sound. She is the preacher's daughter, a good girl growing up, and never really got into any trouble. She has had a sorta crush on Sam for a bit now, but he would never notice someone like her.
When the two meet one night they hit it off, only things aren't as easy as they seem. I love how Sam was all in right away. How when he knew what he wanted, when he found someone he connected with in that way he didn't hesitate. He was really sweet, though he does have some issue in regard to his past and how people see him that he need to work on. He felt he was always selfish before, but now he tries not to be, but not always in the best ways. His heart was in the right place, but he doesn't always do the right thing. He was sweet and I was so wanting things to work out for him.
And Shelby was a sweetheart as well. So kind and caring, but she has some hangups of her own to work through. They were really perfect together and it was fun watching them figure everything out. It was a cute, fun read.

Sweet and sexy at the same time! Sam just wanted to kill time before taking off again. Shelby just wanted to break out of the shell her parents put her in. They had a great time working toward their HEA! It had LOL moments, sexy moments, and AWW moments! Can't wait for Mason's story...

When Sam Westbrook inherits a landscaping company with the stipulation he has to run it for a year, being in Magnolia Sounds is not his cup of tea. When a chance encounter with Shelby happens, the time spent in the area is not so bad after all. But when his past reputation comes back to haunt him will it be the end of his relationship with Shelby or the beginning of a brand new Sam? Once again Samantha Chase does not disappoint. She creates characters we fall in love with and heart warming storylines that put smile on our faces. Cannot wait for Mason's book.

Ok, I think this review may go off the rails, so bear with me. I've been super busy with some family health issues, so although I've had the e-book for several weeks, I ended up listening to it on Audible. I love Audible for this reason, I can still get some work for the blog done while I work or take care of others. About the book though. I'm not sure what happened with this one, but it was not my favorite of the Magnolia Sound books so far...It may have been the narrator was a woman and I think since it was Sam Westbrook's story I was expecting a man.
It has a plot I love...the need to be redeemed in the eyes of the community and Sam Westbrook's character does a great job of showing the emotional toll the views of others take on a person. The reactions and in your head talk is about what I felt like until I realized it was alright not to be liked by everyone, as long as you did the best you could to be a good citizen. Although Sam screwed up early in life, he is proving himself to the community in this period.
Shelby on the other hand doesn't really have much character growth if you ask me. Her parents seem to be the biggest issue for her, and Yes, she ends up standing up to her folks, but I felt like there could have been some views of how she dealt with all the talk around town while she and Sam were out and about together. That stuff is only mentioned, not explored. However, Samantha does explore the relationship between Shelby and her parents who are "Church Flock" keepers...basically the minister and the minister's wife. Her parents are overbearing, subtly controlling and willing to do anything to keep her from being with Sam.
We really only see one moment where she stands up to her parents and it is short lived. I'd have like to see more of that continue after she discovers how much she loves Sam. Finally, the resolution between Sam and the church never happens and I feel that was also a missed opportunity to really solidify Sam's journey.
Wow, I know that was a lot to take and I'm normally not this critical, but I guess the Church involvement didn't feel finished, so I think it would have been better to give Shelby's parents a different lifestyle. This one is such a volatile topic in real life, if you start it, you need to finish it or it feels like the argument is still open. This whole review pretty much sums up why I'm only giving it a 3.5 of 5 rating. The positives are we get to learn more about Mason and Sam's Mom, both of which I'm hoping will have books of their own. They both are great play makers in the series and deserve a HEA.

Sam and Shelby were both great characters. Shelby is the pastor's daughter and a librarian - she tends to stay within her bounds and follow through with exactly what's expected of her. She won't even tell her parents she got Lasik surgery knowing it would bring a lecture and wears non-prescription eyeglasses to not answer their questions. She wants to shake up her life but doesn't know where to start - she'd like to start with Sam Westbrook but knows he is way out of her league, not to mention he has no idea who she is.
Sam. Oh Sam. I loved him. He's stuck in this little town because of Zeke's will for a year. He doesn't want to be here, or anywhere near here, but not for the reasons people think. He wants the town to see him for who he his not who he was. Not that easy when he was a hell-raiser in his youth (even a few months ago) and the townsfolk have long memories. At the end of Jake and Mallory's book, we got a sense that Jake knew Sam wasn't going to be happy. I'm not sure anyone really understood why he was so unhappy - sure, they heard what he was saying but no one really experienced the whispers, the looks, that he did. It took some tough realizations before even Shelby could see how hard it was in town.
When they meet by chance out of town, Sam is completely smitten and blown away by this gorgeous girl - and then she runs. Shelby knew who he was but was enjoying pretending to be someone else for the evening - she knew Sam wouldn't want her for who she was normally so she ran. When they finally run into each other again, Shelby is embarrassed (but realistic in her head) and after Sam's anger/frustration fades, all he wants to do is get to know the girl that's occupied his mind for the last two weeks. Sam quickly figured out it was going to take some convincing to get her to believe him.
As they got to know each other, they faced a lot of judgments. Shelby soon saw first hand that Sam wasn't exactly exaggerating with feeling like he'd never atone for his wild youth. Not only did they have to face the town but they each held doubts of self worth to work through. Do they figure it out or does reality ruin their newfound happiness? Read it - you won't regret it. This was a fabulous addition to the series! And now that we've gotten to know Mason a bit more (I loved Mason and Sam's relationship in this book), I cannot wait to read his story next!

Sam and Shelby’s story in A Girl Like You, book two in Samantha Chase’s Magnolia Sound series is an emotional and heartwarming tale of forgiveness, acceptance, redemption and maturing. Every summer Sam Westbrook would visit his great-grandfather and the town of Magnolia Sound with his twin sister and mother. Since the death of his great-grandfather and being forced to move to the town, Sam believes that the town remembers and judges him as the immature and a hell-raiser that he was, not the adult he has become. He will just have to learn how to deal with it and prove the doubters wrong in order to get his inheritance. Shelby Abbott has always been the “good girl”, staying in her comfort zone, and pleasing her parents. After all, she’s the pastor’s daughter and after all these years, she is ready to shed that image. She’s heard the wild stories about Sam so imagine her surprise when Sam, the Sam Westbrook, wants to spend time with her. She was not prepared for that. However, Sam has changed. He is not the wild, carefree man she expected; he is caring, protective, and hard working. Sam has always said that he would only be in Magnolia Sound as long as he needed to be. As much as Shelby wants to change, she not’s ready to have just a fling with Sam.
Poor Sam. He couldn’t get out of his own head that he deserved a second chance from the people of the town. Especially since only he was treated that way, not those who were with him at the time. I highly recommend A Girl Like You to other readers and I can't wait to read more about this family from Magnolia Sound and see what else is in store for us readers.

Samantha Chase really captivated my heart and soul with A Girl Like You. Samantha Chase creates world's that just make you dream of living there. When she created Magnolia Sound I fell in love from the start. Magnolia Sound is a place like no other. Samantha Chase shows her reader's that dreams can come true. Her stories are beyond phenomenal.
In A Girl Like You we get Sam Westbrook's story. Let me just say from the moment I met Sam I knew that no ordinary woman would be good enough for him. Sam Westbrook is a "bad boy" who wants nothing to do with that reputation. All Sam wants is to get away from Magnolia Sound. Everywhere he goes he can't escape his "bad boy"image. Enter the town librarian and preacher's daughter Shelby Abbott. Shelby is a "good girl". Shelby wants to be her own person and experience life. Sam wants people to see he has changed. Together Shelby and Sam see that anything can happen.
I loved reading Sam and Shelby's story. I loved watching them work through their struggles and grow individually and as a couple. I loved watching Sam discover who he is and find his happiness. I enjoyed catching up with some of the other characters and see where they are now. Both Sam and Shelby kept growing throughout the book. A Girl Like You is intriguing. I love the journey Sam and Shelby went on individually. I really love Sam's story. I felt connected to his and Shelby's character's. I felt as if I were in Magnolia Sound and not reading the story. Sam Westbrook captivated me from page one. I love the world Samantha Chase created. I have fallen in love with everything about Magnolia Sound. When Samantha creates a world it becomes magical. Her characters and their stories are always heaven-sent. I read this story in one night and have reread it a second time. It's that good. I laughed and felt my heart swoon throughout the book. I truly have become invested in Magnolia Sound. Definitely grab a copy of A Girl Like You and fall in love with Magnolia Sound and Sam and Shelby.

A sweet and easy read; not quite "behind closed doors", but not as steamy as some other romances.
I'm so over the man being a whore trope, but I did like the way he explained his instantaneous change in behaviour. "When I saw you that night, all I remember thinking was ... finally, there she is." Searching is more appealing than just being horny and not caring about anyone but himself.
I had a problem with Laney telling Shelby that she needed to get out from under her parents' thumb, but then wasn't completely upfront about her parents' attitude. Maybe if Laney had told Shelby about the subtle digs over the years, Shelby would have stood up for herself earlier. But I liked how Shelby made up her own mind about people, and wasn't a complete "good girl/virgin" cliche.
Sam needed to get his head out of ass a lot sooner. How many times did Mallory or Shelby offer him alternate points of view on the townspeople and he still pouted around like a big baby? It was great that Shelby fought for the relationship, but when she said they both needed to work on communication I didn't know what she was talking about. (One time postponing a conversation - which, by the way, he totally bailed on before she could broach the subject - does not indicate habitual behaviour.)
Oh! And I really wish someone would have had a conversation with Susannah about the construction on the B&B. Was it as Sam and Mason hypothesized (she wanted the aunt's input), or was it her subtle way of forcing Sam to get his own place (and saying in town)? Wouldn't that have been a great addition to the plot?!
Anyhow, even with those niggling little issues I had with the story I still enjoyed the story overall. No abrupt POV switches that earlier books by this author contained. Great characters, both primary and supporting. Sweet small town romance, and I'm looking forward to Mason's story next.

Was it as Sam and Mason hypothesized (she wanted the aunt's input), or was it her subtle way of forcing Sam to get his own place (and saying in town)? Wouldn't that have been a great addition to the plot?!
Anyhow, even with those niggling little issues I had with the story I still enjoyed the story overall. No abrupt POV switches that earlier books by this author contained. Great characters, both primary and supporting. Sweet small town romance, and I'm looking forward to Mason's story next.

A Girl Like You is book 2 (3 if you count the prequel) in the Magnolia Sound series by Samantha Chase. The main characters are Sam who has to take over his grandfather's company for a year if I recall correctly in order to inherit and counts down the days until his "jail time is over". He is a free spirit and is not one to be tied down. Shelby is a shy librarian who still tries to please her parents and is a little bit freer than Mason. If you have read the previous book, you will understand what I am talking about. If you haven't go and read it. (Btw, I can't wait for his story)
I am not a big fan of manwhore heroes and I wasn't very happy that Sam's past was brought up so often, but I don't think that he deserved all the heat he got. He certainly deserved some because he was not an angel though. He doesn't want to settle into the town and he makes it known at least in the beginning. He has some realizations as we reached the end of the book and I could call that character development. I liked him less than I liked his lady, to be honest. Shelby is not a virgin so we didn't get the manwhore/virgin trope, but she is very suppressed, she doesn't go out and lives in her shell. She is the kind of person you don't glance at twice and her personality reflects that. She spends quite some time wondering why Sam is hanging out with her and waits for the other shoe to drop. I didn't like that. She had some growth and I was very happy to see her abandoning the shell and been her own person. One who doesn't wear glasses because she is afraid of what her parents will tell.
I enjoyed the story even if I wasn't happy with Sam's history. He and Shelby are a good couple and they helped each other get over their hang-ups, which is all I can ask in a novel. They got someone who understood them and loved them for who they truly were.

This series is the perfect beach escape, and just wait until you meet Sam and Shelby! These two are as different as night and day, and no one in the small beach community of Magnolia Sound would ever put them together.
Sam is less than thrilled about having to spend a year in Magnolia Sound to fulfill the terms of his great-grandfather's will and inherit his landscaping business. He did some dumb things as a kid during his summers there, and the people of Magnolia Sound have long memories, but Sam is trying to restore his reputation and he's putting his heart into his landscape business.
Shelby is the town's good girl. Sweet, agreeable, quiet, a little awkward, the town librarian and the Baptist preacher's daughter – all things that would typically make a girl invisible to Sam. But when he meets her out at a club, one look is all it takes for him to be hooked.
I love Sam and Shelby, and they're both so good for each other! Sam has a skewed perception about what others think of him and in getting to know Shelby he starts to see things more clearly. And Shelby is the true hero in this story. She learns bravery, finds her inner strength, speaks her mind and stands up to people. I loved watching her grow and was cheering her on every step of the way.

What a Phenomenal vacation read! Samantha Chase’s latest release, A Girl Like You is the second full novel in her latest Magnolia Sound series. I loved every word.
When Sam Westbrook’s, great-grandfather left Sam his landscaping business in his will with the stipulation that Sam lives in Magnolia Sound for one year. Sam was a bit of a wild child growing up, and truthfully, still has a bit of the wild child still inside him. However, for the most part, he has grown up into a wonderful, upstanding man. He just wishes that the people of Magnolia Sound would quit holding his past transgressions against him and start seeing him for the man he has become, especially the pastor. Which is why, Sam cannot wait to leave the dust, or rather, the sand of Magnolia Sound behind and move back home. Well, that is until he meets Shelby Steele in the bar that night, and they become totally captivated by each other as days go by. The problem, the dear pastor is her father!!!
I have to say this, I REALLY did not care for Shelby’s parents, the pastor and his wife!!! I will just say this; the good pastor and his wife need to LIVE what they preach!!!
I really liked reading this story and finding out what happens between Shelby and Sam. Watching them overcome people’s opinions and growing as a couple. Ms. Chase has in my humble opinion, outdone herself yet again with this wonderful book. I cannot wait to read Mason’s story, which is coming out at the end of July!!! EEK, I can’t wait.

Oh my five stars! Sam Westbrook's story is absolutely wonderful. If you've read book 1, you know that Sam has a reputation as sort of a troublemaker and bad boy around Magnolia Sound. Now that he's all grown up, Sam feels stifled in the little coastal town that he's forced to live in for the next year, thanks to his great grandfather's will. While he likes being near family, he doesn't enjoy what he perceives as judgement for his past mistakes. With just a few months into that year long commitment, Sam is ready to leave as soon as he can.
Shelby, on the other hand, loves her hometown and has no desire to go live anywhere else. She feels that she's always overlooked, being the sweet and kind librarian in town. But once Sam lays eyes on Shelby, he can't look away. Their instant attraction spooks Shelby, so she leaves before Sam can get more information about her.
Once they meet up again, Sam vows to take it slow as not to scare Shelby away again. for a man who isn't looking for a relationship, he is definitely all in where Shelby is concerned. They both had some issues with self-esteem and how they perceive others are looking at them. Which kind of makes them the perfect couple.
There's a couple of interesting twists in their story, which I'm not going to get into for spoiler reasons. I will say though, I appreciate Chase's character development even more then I usually do. She's given the citizens of Magnolia Sound a lot of gray areas, you know, like real life! You'll understand when I'm alluding to when you read the book!
I usually can't wait until the next book in a series comes out. Not that I'm not looking forward to Mason's story, but I think I just need to keep Sam as my newest book boyfriend for a little while longer!

Sam Westbrook is a wanderer. He bounces from place to place, not really feeling the need to settle down. Now, he's stuck in Magnolia Sound, running his great grandfather's business for a year. If he leaves before then, he'll forfeit his inheritance and the business he loves so much to do. Shelby is the town's librarian and the pastor's daughter. She's quiet and shy and has lived her whole life in this small town. When the two meet at a bar, sparks fly but can these two opposites overcome their own fears and take the plunge with each other?
So, let me get the reason for my 3 star rating out of the way first. It was TOO sweet for my tastes! Too many exclamation points (and that's saying something as I love exclamations)! The hero was way too under confident! Gah, I so wanted to love this one because I adore the opposites attract trope but it just fell flat for me.
However, the writing was well done and I did like the main characters though I felt like I could've loved them if they had a bit more gumption or they grew more as the story unfolded. The supporting cast was fun and gave some added layers to the plot that I enjoyed. There's a bit of tension towards the end as the opinions of people become more pronounced which was good but again, I felt like it lacked some oomph!
This is an easy drama with fade to black sex scenes and sticky sweet characters. I'm sure there's a bunch of readers out there who really enjoy this type of book so if that's you, scoop this one up because it wasn't terrible, it just wasn't my particular cup of tea! Told from dual POVs with a happy ever after. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

Heartwarming & Charming! I am in Love with this series and have been since the beginning. Samantha Chase is an excellent writer with books that ooze heart felt goodness and she continues to capture my heart and soul a little more with each book in this series.
