Carrie Calhoun heads to Miami after a recent divorce for a weekend of racing with her horse-trainer brother. A dating app populated by Thoroughbred riders sounds like a fun opportunity for a rebound—but after meeting Leila, a former jockey, Carrie begins to wonder if she’s ready for real love again.
I absolutely loved this! It has everything I could ever want in a book: Gay jokes!!!!! Horse jokes!!!! Horses and people who love horses and people who don't love horses and don't know how to be around them jokes!!! A big queer and diverse cast!!
And even without the horses, the premise was a lot of fun with a charity calendar and skimpy bikinis, and it features wonderful disability rep and chronic pain rep!
There were several cameos from JOCKS which I liked, but it's not necessary to read that one before hand. The two books stand entirely on their own - the only connection between them is the overall setting around horse racing and the jockey dating app.
I hoping for more stories set in this universe - there isn't a lot of background information and I would love to explore more of the setting and these character, be it in more short stories or full length novels.
Content warnings include: a bit of sex, mentions of divorce, rebound.
