Quickstart Guides: Modes

Rate this book
This book is for anyone who wants to get modes up and running on the guitar fretboard with the minimum amount of fuss and without long-winded theory explanations. What you’ll find here is the theory you NEED to know to get modes going, plus a system to access any mode in any key on the fretboard WITHOUT learning endless scale patterns or permutations. This is not a quick-fix solution, you’ll need to put the time in, but I’ll show you exactly what and how to practice so that you’re not wasting a second.

Essentially, the theory of modes is quite simple, the problems arise when we try to transfer that theory to the guitar neck and apply it to our playing. This book aims to make the transition from theory to practice a smooth and effortless one so that you can get into modes in a matter of hours.

Graham Tippett (1977-) studied literature, music and languages in the UK before making a permanent move to Mexico in 2005. It was there he began to explore and research methods of improvisation on the guitar and published the '2 Position Scale System' series of instruction books in 2014, which are the fruit of that research. He is also well-known for his love of languages and music, drawing parallels between the two art forms as he continues to write and research on the subjects of language learning and improvisation.
