Elton. The biggest English discovery for me. See, funnely enough, Elton is not that big in France. I mean sure we know him as the crazy outfit pop singer who was friend with Lady Diana but it's actual music, and more to the point his numerous talents were a total shock for me.
Not too indigest, this books is not only about Elton but also about everyone and everything who made Elton trough the years : Bernie Taupin, John Reid, the booze, the cocaine, his Mum even Bowie or Lenon. He is a patchwork. He is a artist, a showman who likes to touch, discover, try everything, without as he himself says it openly enough, any fences or moderation. It did caused him many problems. But it also give us some of the best ever songs! Written with a very neutral tune (Buckley never judges, he just stipulates the fact with I have to say a lot of respect and discretion), Still Standing is a lovely piece of work and information.
