122 Rules #2

122 Rules - Redemption: A Sam Bradford Federal Assassin Thriller Book 2

Rate this book
Sam went rogue on his last assignment, so The Agency sidelined his ass while they decide his fate: reinstatement as an elite federal assassin or death by firing squad.

Since there’s no place for a vigilante in their ranks, either option is likely.

As he waits for the ax to fall, Sam learns that a notorious serial killer he’d previously plugged has mysteriously risen from the grave and is back to his old slashing and murdering ways.

Rousing himself from the piles of stale beer cans and festering takeout boxes, Sam loads his guns and barrels off in pursuit of one of the most bloodthirsty madmen to have ever wielded a dagger. Sam’s ignoring his orders to stand down, but he just can’t ignore the body count that’s rising like a blood red tide. A tide he could have turned had the lunatic just stayed dead.

What Sam doesn’t know is that as he's hunting the elusive serial killer, his former adversary is also hunting him.

Fans of Brad Thor, Nelson DeMille, and David Baldacci will love Deek Rhew’s hard-core tension, driving cadence, and spicy comedic interludes. 122 Rules-Redemption explores the terrifying, depraved mind of a psychopath who fancies himself the redeemer of lost souls.

Deek Rhew

Deek Rhew writes thrillers where psychology is the weapon and human nature decides who survives.

A lifelong traveler with an insatiable curiosity about what makes people tick, Deek draws inspiration from years spent exploring the world with his bride, Erin Rhew. Different cultures, unfamiliar terrain, and quiet moments of observation become fuel for stories rooted in motive, fear, and the choices people make under pressure.

Fueled by dark coffee and a fascination with the human psyche, Deek’s work asks: when pressure, circumstance, and perception strip away reason and logic, does anyone truly have limits? This obsession drives the 122 Rules series, where psychological principles predict behavior and operatives like Sam Bradford and Polly Cahill survive by manipulating others into choices that betray their own morals, even when the consequences are fatal.

Deek’s father, a proud Air Force veteran, taught him commitment, discipline, and sacrifice. These threads are woven throughout Deek’s life’s work. His career in software sharpened his understanding of technology and the unintended consequences of its misuse, themes that echo through his speculative fiction, where the fall of civilization feels less like imagination and more like an early warning.

When he’s not writing, Deek is usually adventuring with Erin, scouting the next horizon, or debating human behavior and motives over cups of strong coffee.

Creepy serial killers? Check! A flawed hero? Check! A small town filled with quirky characters? Check! Another page-turning thriller by Deek Rhew? Check!

122 RULES: REDEMPTION is the second book in the 122 Rules series, but can be read as a standalone. Erebus, the creeptastic psychopath, is back for another round of killings, this time in Alabaster Cove in the Pacific Northwest. He has his sights set on Monica, who has foiled his evil plans in the past. This time, he’s determined to kill her, even if it means getting through her bad-ass best friend, Angel, and secret agent, the hero of the story, Sam Bradford.

Sam uses his training, including the 122 Rules of Psychology, to plan his moves and track down the psycho killer. But Erebus is on a tear, a madman desperate for his target, the beautiful law student Monica. Sometimes the rules need to be broken.

Sam, Erebus, and Monica have a history that needs to be resolved, one way or another, in the small town of Alabaster Cove. A bridge has taken out the only exit to the town, so the three of them are stuck there, on each other’s trails, in a game of cat and mouse with the highest stakes ever. If Sam and Monica don’t get to Erebus before he gets to them, it’s game over.

122 RULES: REDEMPTION is a fast-paced, quirky, thriller that will keep you entertained from start to finish. Written in Erebus and Sam’s POVs, there’s not a dull moment throughout. Mr. Rhew has a fun, casual style of writing and keeps the story light, considering the subject matter. I could picture the story as a graphic novel. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a witty, enjoyable read and an action-packed, refreshing take on serial killer novels!

If you like action, murders, psychological mysteries, this book is for you. I warn you that the book is graphic and quite violent, but, the Author explains the mindset of the participants.

This is a gritty tale of a serial killer on a 'mission.' Erebus sees himself as an artist. The rest of the world sees him as a psychopath. Erebus kills for the sake of his mission and sees himself as an artist, unappreciated, but a true life artist. His canvas...women.

Sam or Peter or whomever his is that day, is working for such a covert operation that he isn't even sure it's real. Nevertheless, Sam is determined to end Erebus' ambitions. Now.

This is a well written murder mystery. One intended for adults. Not my usual cozy but so well crafted that I do keep track of the Author, Deek Rhew. Give him a read, if you haven't.

Great read

Love these character's and the storyline is one that'll have you on the edge of your seat. A seriously demented serial killer that you won't soon forget. Loved the rules written in, especially the last one. I hope there's more to come, want to learn where Sam ends up.

Not too smart

This book was not as good as the first. In book one Sam was much more intelligent. This book he is always two Steps behind. I guess I like protagonist that put the pieces together quicker.

This is a fantastic read which delivers plenty of twists and turns that keep the reader guessing as to what is to come next. The only disappointment was that this story came to an end.

Hated this book! The excessive body count and Angel's diatribes ruined the reading experience.
