Welcome to Paradise Valley, where the locals thrive on the rural landscape, the quirky Oregonian living, and the history of the lesbian commune that founded it. Mixing small town attitudes with lesbian dating? Sounds like another day in Paradise. Doctor Brandelyn “Brandy” Meyer has dreamed of the picture-perfect wedding since she was a little girl. Now that fiancee Sunny Croker is ready to tie the knot? All hell breaks loose as Dr. Bridezilla is unleashed! Sunny is the embodiment of her name, with her blond hair and genial disposition. Yet even the owner of Paradise Valley’s biggest B&B can’t keep her cool when Brandy’s vision overwrites who Sunny really is. Their previously unbreakable bond goes up against the ultimate test! Paradise Valley’s wedding of the year will be the only thing residents talk about for months. But will it be the impeccable flowers and sweet vows they discuss? Or how a certain someone was left at the altar?
Hildred Billings is a Japanese and Religious Studies graduate who has spent her entire life knowing she would write for a living someday. She has lived in Japan multiple times in multiple locations, from the heights of the Japanese alps to the hectic Tokyo suburbs, with a life in Shikoku somewhere in there too.
Currently, Hildred lives in Oregon with her partner and two cats. When she's not commandeering the corner of the neighborhood coffee shop on hours on end (it's okay, she's on a first-name basis with the baristas) she's probably parked on the couch watching Bob's Burgers or screaming at a Zelda game. (Seriously, Link, why don't you move right?)
Enjoyed it. I like getting to know paradise valley through different perspective. And Brandelyn and Sunny have been one of my favourite couples in the series so far. Which I really didn't expect going into the book.
This is a wonderful small town drama. I love how characters for the next month are introduced. Sunny and Brandy are polar opposites. They both need to communicate with each other or the marriage will never work. Brandy’s family was quite the cast of characters. I will definitely make my way through the year.
I usually really enjoy this series and have loved previous books. In this one, I felt like I was shortchanged. The story line was very intriguing and had me looking forward to how Sunny and Brandy's conflicts would be resolved. However, they weren't ever really resolved and the story seemed to end rather abruptly. I had many, many unanswered questions at the conclusion and was very disappointed. Also, this book had numerous grammar, spelling, and other errors that were noticeable. Hopefully this is a one-off and the next book is up to par.
This book kept me wondering why Sunny was with Bran. Even though it was implied that they were meant for each other. Bridezilla was overwhelming and poor Sunny had to finally grow a backbone, and this led to the rift between two women in love. The ending was really great, a story that touched me deeply.
The bride meets her match in her soon to be spouse.
One simple question that was needed to be asked to overthrow the commotion of not asking the question first. Hindsight is great isn't it? Too bad we can't foresee the future, huh.? Things adjust once both parties decide what to wear at their wedding. Enjoy!
I liked this book. Billings is keeping up the pace of a year in Paradise. This episode has the B&B owner, Sunny, marrying her long time girlfriend, the town GP. The wedding planning has hit a few rough spots causing the ladies to have some rocking disagreements. Can they get past the bad behavior and hurt feelings. Read the book and find out.
Brandelyn was Paradise Valleys only Doctor. She was often brisk and off putting. Sunny lived up to her name and ran the inn she inherited from her grandmother. Their wedding day was approaching and Brandelyn had become Bridezilla and Sunny was having her own moments. Can they make it down the aisle. Recommend Series.
Largely a cautionary tale warning against the danger of treating a wedding like the end goal instead of like a mile stone. In any case there are some amusing moments and in the end Brandy and Sunny appear headed to their HEA (always assuming they, and the rhododendrons, survive the reception).
What is the most important detail in your nuptials—the wedding ceremony or the wedding couple?? Brandy may end up sacrificing one at the expense of the other. Can a bride really have it all?
This is my least favorite of the Paradise Valley books so far. I did not like the doctor character at all. The lack of communication between the couple is extensive, especially for two that are getting married.
