After dropping out of university when she falls in love and becomes pregnant, Thea is left a single mother in need of an income when Hal leaves. She and a friend, Cora, become strippers, but their lack of respect from the community means that when Cora is raped they must exact their own revenge.
Whilst reading this I felt that it seemed to take forever to go from one day to the next. I'd be reading for ages thinking the son had grown a few months when in reality it'd only been a couple of weeks for example. Don't get me wrong, I still found the story enjoyable and easy to read but felt it was missing something. It felt a little rushed in my opinion and the ending came with a disappointing abrupt finish.
Very lightweight story of a middle class and educated single mum who pairs up with a gutsy working class girl to present a "classy" striptease act. This all goes wrong when the girl is raped and moral tensions grow in her private life. the characterisation is pretty sketchy and there's some thin plotting. It won't keep anyone reading because it's all over in a jiffy.
