Another great continuation of the Five Towers. Of the three I've read so far, however, this is probably my least favorite. While I did appreciate the change of pace/style (Cipher lost his memories a few times, the story mostly revolved around the challenge within the Green Tower rather than the scouring), I thought it was a little too drawn out. I also got annoyed at all the times Cipher had to start over. That being said, I loved the Provider facet of the prisim! Also very intrigued by the scars and the Pit. Still too YA for me. Excited to read the next one!

Blue...respect the mind. Red...let passion burn. Cipher awakens and finds himself in the largest tree he has ever seen in the middle of a vast forest. He is separated from Emma who is sent to fight for the Green Tower, and is made to survive in the wilds of the forest in a setting very much akin to The Lord Of The Flies. There he learns to trust the Provider, and those around him. Allies change, but as Cipher learns the way of the Forest, he begins to see he wishes to be something different; something more than the forest has ever seen. Can he unite those in the Green Tower and bring peace to the Forest?

The Green Tower will grab your attention and keep you moving forward with Cipher through his challenges. With every tower, a different color, a different color, a different piece of character building takes place. As you go with Cipher, perhaps you will find something in the Tower that will challenge your heart as well.

This was my least favorite book in the series so far. I felt like nothing of importance happened after the very beginning till about halfway in. The storyline seems a little redundant and in parts boring. I still enjoyed it because I came to care about the characters in the other books. I am scared the redundant issue will be an issue going forward. It's already a small issue I find with one of the main plot points of the series. Somehow, the 1st two made this not as much as an issue as I was scared it would be . I did enjoy the ending. It had a shocking ending. I am glad I have the next book ready to go.

Slight spoiler ahead

I feel like we all knew the main character would have to have his memory whipped again at some point. But having it happen more than once in the same book felt like too much.

I’m still very much enjoying the series, but this book was way different and was really connecting all of the characters that were introduced in the first two books. Having to remember who was who and what their story is was a little difficult but definitely added depth to the story so I’m not complaining. I think that the characters continue to develop and learn through their trials and tribulations. While I was expecting this book to be similar to the first two, I think Cipher’s struggles in the green tower definitely humanized him so much more.

The wait is on

From the moment I started reading book 1 till the moment I finished book 3 I couldn't stop reading, I became disheartened to learn that near the end of book 3 that the other books aren't available yet, I will be waiting and watching for "The Yellow Tower"

Another solid entry.

Green Tower's culture is definitely one of the more interesting of the Five Towers, and the strangest. That made it all the more interesting for Cipher to try and navigate it all.

I really liked this book ! I was hoping that it would be different than the first two and it definitely was. This book has a strong antagonist for Cipher to take on and that made this story more interesting.

CAN'T PUT DOWN

This series is one you can't put down. Great characters. Great pacing. Great concepts to think about. The Green Tower follows a trend I hope continues with The Yellow Tower.

the roughest one so far

This series has been an emotional rollercoaster and this installment was so crucial but had sooo many twists and turns. I love Emma so much. She’s an incredible character and so is Cipher. I can’t wait to keep reading.

Slightly less then I expected

Does this book live up to its siblings? Are you always learning something about the characters yup...but I could pick it up and put it down easier then I could the others. There are a lot of unanswered questions

Looking forward to reading more

Third book, and I'm glad I don't have to wait because the series is finished. It would have been annoying to have to wait because I'm impatient

I'm reading these in order of the series and I adore the series. Very YA, but still well worth reading. I enjoy exploring the plot, the continued character development. I especially love that all of the characters get brought back - not a one and done thing, but they also grow and change as we begin to learn more about them.

Out of the 3 books I've read in this series so far, I had the most difficulty imagining what this one looked like in my head. I guess my brain tried to place where the story takes place in a situation like the Hunger Games when they're actually in the woods. I still found it slightly confusing, but the writing and the characters make up for that detraction because I do just want to know what happens next and that makes me turn the page. Which is what you ultimately want in a good book, I think. This is great for maybe 12+ and up!

Personally, this book irritated me. I love this series, but this book was a struggle for me. The premise of setting the tower residents against each other to fight for food and resources, the liberal use of control collars, and how seemingly clueless and helpless Cipher was, made this book very difficult for me.

I was very uncomfortable with the rampant abuse of control collars. It is one thing to have a servant, it is quite another to start using/abusing them like slaves.

Here we are with the third book in the The Five Towers series, The Green Tower. This book was much like the others in the way that there is a struggle to get from the bottom of the pile to the top of the pile by getting there in whatever means necessary. There is a lot more fighting and a much bigger foe than in the previous two. One who has known Cipher, who gets under his skin, and makes Cipher seethe in anger. The cast of characters is much the same, which I actually think is a strength. It's much like Harry Potter in that sense. You get to learn about the side characters and their experiences but at the same time, you're completely entrenched in the main characters story.

As with The Blue Tower and The Red Tower, The Green Tower has a specific lesson to learn. It's more than getting to the top and winning. There's a way to get there. Something that must be done and something that's repeated multiple times. I think the author does a wonderful job of portraying this message and laying it out and finally reaching the ending point to where the message is understood and actually acted upon.

I've always thought these books were great young adult books. There are some awesome lessons to learn and to get across to a young reader and a message that a younger generation needs to hear. With The Green Tower I believe this definitely extends to adults as well. There is a deeper meaning to these books and I just think they're fantastic. The writing is amazing, the character development is well done. I could not recommend this series to enough people. Just HOLY COW! Get a few chapters into it and you won't want to put it down. It's a MUST READ FOR THE SUMMER!

Wow..I just finished The Green Tower, book 3 in the 5 Towers series by J.B. Simmons, and...it was a very different tower than the first two towers, first blue and then red. So much wilder! It took some getting used to the fact that Cipher was "wiped," (memory erased), more than once. I like that he was given the fruit though, to regain his memories. I also liked that the first really good memory, or content memory, surfaced while in the green tower. I am once again anxious for the next book in the series, especially since I know it will take place in the yellow tower, which is the "healing" tower-very intriguing! Great job once again, J.B. Simmons! As an avid J.B. Simmons fan I was provided an advance complimentary copy of this book.

The continuation of the 5 Towers does not disappoint in this next installment. I use the word installment purposely as the Green Tower sort of leaves the reader hanging. Because it is the middle of the series I feel the author left us with more questions than answers, which is okay with me. The book was more violent with "death" or capture a real possibility. Because of that I felt this book was more tense and riveting. In some ways it reminded me "Lord of the Flies. " Mr. Simmons just keeps getting better and better! A great read in a terrific series!

Why is Green Tower an entire book? We are 50% of the way through and literally NOTHING has happened! This is a read aloud to my kids and I'm bored to tears.

Read Aloud to my children.

My kids are enthralled and enjoy this book.
I find the series a little too repetitive and long (especially the Green Tower. We are 50% of the way through and NOTHING has happened in the book).
I also feel that this is for older children than mine as the subject matters deals with adultery and other adult themes, but now that we are into it my kids want me to keep reading it.

Another great book. Wanting to know more about Paul is the hook, but there is soo much more here in between the snippets of his past. Loving this series and can't wait to see what happens next. Highly recommended.

Really like this series, and the books leave you wanting to read the next one. They are fast wasy reads. My only issue with this book is it seemed very repetitive to the 1st 2 books. Over all though once you got over the hump it was as good

For the third book in the series it's the one that continuously keeps you guessing. Just when you think you know what is going to happen next, something changes. I am looking forward to Book 4.
