There's nothing more dangerous than a man with nothing to lose.
New York Times and USA Today Best Seller L. Wilder brings readers Jasper Nichols, a sexy, totally alpha hitman, who will hold you captive in this new bad boy series.
Our lives are defined by moments, especially the ones we never see coming. For me, that moment came when I was given the opportunity to take from those who'd taken from me.
I became a hitman- killing mob bosses, drug lords and everything in between. With judges in their pockets, these men were untouchable by everyone--except me. With every hit, my plan was always the same:
Day one- receive the target. Day two- acquire their location. Day three- plan the kill. Day four- complete the hit.
On day three of my latest assignment, everything changed. The moment I saw her, I knew she was different from the others. Madison Brooks wasn't a hardened criminal with blood on her hands. She was innocent, untouched by my world, and undeniably beautiful.
On day three, I couldn't get her out of my head. I kept imagining what it would be like to hold her, touch her, and claim her as mine.
On day three, I found myself questioning whether or not I could complete my assignment. In fact, I found myself questioning everything.
Many readers were introduced to the sexy, brooding recluse, Jasper Nichols, in Murphy: Satan's Fury- Memphis. Day Three is a new standalone romance novel with no cheating, lots of wild twists and turns, and a swoon-worthy HEA with no cliffhanger.
3.5 Stars Despite its description of a hitman contracted to take out an apparently innocent mark don't go expecting a dark romance as this really isn't one. At its heart, "Day Three" is a really sweet love story that combines suspense and action with an almost healing balm of how the right person can help to heal the broken pieces of a damaged psyche. This one is an easy read that is told in dual pov. Its very instalove, low on the relationship angst with a deep romantic vein. It did work for this and if you like your stories more on the warm side this one will definitely do the trick. I thought the epilogue was a sweet touch as well. So despite being fairly predictable in places, this was still an enjoyable experience. One last observation I did feel some of the actions taken by the hero were a bit on the DUH! side especially considering his profession, you would think he would no better. They were only small things like when Madison turned her phone on at the cabin when she was meant to be dead and when they run to his family as well as staying on for a meal with his family to please his mum when there was a hitman on their trail and they should be solely focused on their own survival. But they still niggled me slightly as I felt a hitman just wouldnt behave this way and make silly mistakes. I also liked the way this is set up for a tale focusing on the brother and I expect all the siblings will get there own story. I voluntary reviewed a copy of Day Three (What Bad Boys Do #1).
I have read every single book that l.wilder has written.I adore MC books. When I read the synopsis for this book I was excited. I loved it. Jasper has had a tough life. Madison is a single women living in ny. Then they meet.
Very safe. Predictable but at least hero wasn’t a ho and heroine wasn’t a virgin. Not that she was very experienced but at least she wasn’t a V. The best part? The doggie! I would like to read about his brother Grady. But the other brother who’s name is escaping me now ( he must not have made a good impression on me because I can’t remember his name) it’s up to debate since it seems he’s a ho.
We are just loving this author this was another great read for us full of suspense drama and a whole lot of surprises. We really loved the character's they had amazing chemistry and not only that they just fit.
Soldier turned hit man who would have thought but, Jasper had his reasons and soon it became his life until one hit turned out to be more than he ever dreamed of.
Madison was just and ordinary gal doing her thing until one day her life turned upside down the day she met the sexy as sin hit man sent to kill her.We loved her character she was sweet ,kind, sexy and a whole lot of feisty.
Jasper the sexy as sin soldier was a bit broken and dark do to war and life but, that all changes the day he caught sight of Madison she became a mystery he needed to solve and hoped she would be his salvation from the pain he housed within.
Overall we loved this adventurous story that was full with twists and turns and a whole lot of surprises. Jasper and Madison we super hot together and their chemistry was explosive. The story had tons going on constantly and kept you engrossed in the pages from beginning to end.The story was also packed with ton of emotion although the characters we flawed they were all so love-able.
This was and exciting and intense story as being on the run is never and easy task but, the is the one time that you loving an ex-soldier turned hit man is the only thing that might saved your lives because he is going to need to out whit and out smart and prove to everyone that he is still the best of the best and not easily taken down.We loved that regardless how dangerous things were Jasper and Madison were able to find healing and love along the way and we love when that happens because the were perfect for one another and just what the other needed to be whole once again.
Recommended read to all! "What a awesome read with a touching love story!" Looking forward to the next read in this enticing series.
A nice story, but very naive written. Plot holes everywhere. For being a professional the hero certainly didn't act like one. He 'kidnapped' her, but didn't turn off her mobile? Silly... But he wasn't a manwhore and they didn't trash his deceased ex, it's rare.
Day Three: A Hitman Romance by L. Wilder is a must read by this author!!! The storyline and characters of Jasper and Madison was well thought out and the chemistry between these two was stirring as was as arousing. Jasper who is trying to overcome his pain and issues of his past leaves everything behind by living a secluded life. Now he is given the opportunity to use his skills by being contracted as a hitman to get his revenge. But his next assignment does not feel right when he learns that his latest target is Madison, a beautiful feisty woman who works at an art gallery, unknown to her gets caught up in a web of lies and secrets when she becomes Jasper's latest target.
Now Jasper after three days watching Madison, realizes that things are not what they seem and forms a plan to protect Madison at any cost until he can find out the truth from his mentor. This story will take you on one wild journey that is filled with danger, drama, murder, secrets and betrayal as you follow Jasper and Madison as they are now being hunted. As their relationship developes, neither one ever believed they would experience this all consuming love they both thought was unattainable for them. You will be on edge from beginning to end with all of the twists and turns that take place leading up to people who they trusted the most are not who them seem once the truth is revealed. I highly recommend this book as fans of L. Wilder will not be disappointed in this story that was both romantic and thrilling at the same time! I voluntairly reviewed an advance copy of this book.
That prologue - wow!!! If the blurb didn’t already hook you, that sure will! Or maybe it’s the sexy man on the cover???! I absolutely loved everything about this story! It’s unlike anything I have read before. Very original in my opinion.
Jasper is a hired hit man who takes out all the really bad guys. Next on his list.... a woman who seems 100% innocent. But is she???? He doesn’t know. It makes him question the task. It makes him kidnap her to get answers. He doesn’t believe she is guilty or deserving of death.
As you can guess this becomes a sweet love story with a happy ending. I enjoyed everything that leads up to this and everything after.
This is book one of a new series. I can hardly wait for the next story to come out. I already have so many questions that need answers.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book, other than that I have really enjoyed everything I've read by this author. And I've read them all. This one was a bit different but still full of all the sexy alpha male hotness I've come to expect from this author. On top of that, there is a great story with some VERY interesting plot twists!
Jasper Nichols is a damaged man with nothing left to fight for. Even so, he still has a moral compass (albeit, a slightly askew compass). And something isn't quite right about his latest job.
Madison Brooks. Quintessential girl next door. Trying to follow her dreams in the big city. Definitely not someone who would normally have a hit put on them. So who wants her dead and why?
Well, if you want those answers you will have to read the book. And personally, I think you should!!!
Jasper is an assassin, he’s lethal and always gets his man. He carefully plots his assignment before hand for two days, then on the third he gets ready to complete his mission...and then he’s outta there, boom, done. His latest mark is an unsuspecting Madison, a - girl next door type - who’s happily living out her innocent life hurting nobody. Jasper is stupefied as to why and who would want to hurt such a harmless girl. This was a very intriguing story. Jasper and Madison made a great team. The plot just kept me guessing and trying to straighten it’s twists. I was absorbed in the story, the suspense alone had me riveted and the conclusion was a complete surprise. A great read, and a definite must!
Jasper Nichols had nothing left to lose when he went off the grid. PTSD and mental health issues after his stent in the military + a tragedy that basically cost him everything g has left him damaged and seeking solitude when he gets his chance for revenge. That’s how he became a hitman with a niche: drug lords, mob bosses, rapist and murderers. When Madison Brook’s file lands in his hands, he knows that something isn’t quite right. Madison Brooks is a single, pretty vanilla employee at an art gallery who finds herself not sure who to trust and in the hands of Jasper Nichols.
This was a great, easy read with a “bad boy,” hero who was actually working for a good cause as well as a splash of suspense and a few twists and turns. Definitely recommend this one.
It was a good start to a new series. Though, it was a bit hard to get in at the beginning, but soon enough I got caught in the story and to find out what the heck is going on. I was wondering and guessing who's the culprit... And while I wasn't surprised much about who he was, I was caught of guard with the reason. And I wanted to smack someone. Like wtf?! Honestly, it's hard for me to write this review, because I wanna to say a lot, but I don't know how without spoilers.
DNF 40 skimmed a lot. I tried, the premise sounded so catchy but this book doesn’t have one redeeming quality.
The way the story evolved was stupid. The setup and explanations offered for Jasper’s profession sounded so juvenile, like a child playing pretend hitman. Also, the guy did this for years without questioning much and the moment he gets a hot girl as a mark he’s like wait a minute: I got a conscious.
And the romance, geeeez, there was no buildup. There was no believable chemistry apart from them agreeing silently that each of them is extremely hot. Epic love story everyone!
I did waste more time than necessary on this so I will rate the the 2 stars it deserves. It was bad but it wasn’t the worst writing ever.
We finally get Jasper’s story! After his time overseas has left him with PTSD, Jasper is living with his somewhat girlfriend in an attempt to get both their lives started and on track. When tragedy strikes just when they start to make headway, Jasper retreats into himself and through his previous contacts ends up working as a hitman in order to gain revenge on those who caused the tragedy. When he gets a hit that isn’t like the others, he is intrigued and questioning his orders, which he has never done before. Going against the orders so he can get to the bottom of why the hit was put on Madison, the two develop feelings after accepting each other for their pasts. I was NOT expecting the truth of who put the hit on Madison and what I loved about this book was that we were kept guessing throughout the duration and the twist that involves Madison’s family was just as surprising. Overall, it was a good start to this spinoff series as we previously met Jasper through the MC, and I can’t wait to see who’s next! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Jasper Nichols has been a hired hitman for a few years after an opportunity presented itself to go after the criminals who can't be touched because of money and power. Besides traveling for those jobs he has stayed in self isolation in his cabin deep in the mountains. For the most part Jasper has been content with life, never questioning his handler on a hit and never getting involved with a woman besides the occasional one night stand. But his newest assignment immediately gives Jasper pause, because unlike the usual mob bosses and drug lords, Madison Brooks is the farthest from being a criminal and what comes next is a series of events that will change the course of both their lives, whether for better or worse I will not spoil that surprise.
For the most part I did enjoy reading Day Three but for being about a hitman who is pretty much the best at his job, this story leaned more towards cutesy and away from action and suspense. I was really hoping for more on Jasper and his backstory but besides the little bit that details the tragedy that pushed him towards staying alone, there wasn't much else said. I found it a little odd how quick he flipped the switch when it came to Madison, I understand not believing she could do something wrong but looks can always be deceiving. The storyline did pick up towards the end which I really liked, those scenes were intense and had my eyes glued to the pages. There is an epilogue so technically these characters and their story is done but since Day Three is also the start of a series I do hope for more glimpses of them in the upcoming books, which I am looking forward to reading.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This book is not a dark romance like it kind of sounds like in the description. It is a good read though but a little bit predictiable. Jasper and Madison were great characters but the book didn't leave me on the edge of my seat like it could have and it sure didn't leave me guessing. I have read L Wilder before but this one just didn't do it for me for some reason. I felt like so much more could have been down with the story that just wasn't.

Holy Hades what a ride I got out of this book. I loved every moment of it and had to keep reading late into the night until I finished it because I just had to know what was going to happen.
I mean its not everyday that a hit man falls for his mark. Jasper is different though because he is a serious alpha male who has nothing to live for so he becomes a hit man taking out all the scum of the world and he loves his job. Then he gets this one assignment and he thinks he has it all wrong because there is no way the person is supposed to kill is this absolutely stunning lady he is curious about.
Madison has a hit on her and she doesn't even know it. She goes about her life like she always has until she meets this gorgeous stranger and he changes her life as she knows it.
Can Jasper keep Madison safe or will it all go down in a blaze of ashes.......
Ok I am totally floored with this book. I love all of L Wilder's books and this one is just as good as the others and I love how this author has not let me down on the quality of her writing. Jasper and Madison meet under different circumstances, and Jasper knows she is not what he thought when he was put on the job. Finding out who put the hit on sweet Madison what a shock and I bet money that it will shock you too
Another amazing book by the talented L Wilder love everything she has written including this jim can't wait to read more of this series and future stories by the author . Really loved the chemistry between the characters liked the interactions they share . I can't wait to read more of the what bad boys do series hope we see more of this couple in the future
I am so ineffably tired of insta-lust. It’s as if we are in such a hurry to rollercoaster into some (not so) hot sex scenes that we cannot take a brief timeout and examine characters, thoughts, ethics, even surroundings.
Jasper is a broken man: too many killings, too much loss, too much war, too much pain. Madison offers platitudes: “I’m so sorry,” she says. “I can’t imagine how hard that must’ve been for you.” The insta-lust Madison feels for Jasper wasn’t necessary at the cabin where he brought her to keep her safe. It was vaguely unsuitable and did nothing for the story except to let readers know Madison found Jasper desperately yummy, a completely inappropriate evaluation given the seriousness of her situation (she’s in dire straits, as is he).
Instead of telling the reader that Jasper is starting to trust Madison, it would be good to be shown this change. It’s a book: the writer can make the time. Too often we are told what is going on. I think it is more difficult to show readers that characters are changing their basic outlooks, but it would be so much better to peel back the layers and discover this rather than being spoon-fed.
It feels as if the writer could not decide if this were going to be a romance or a mystery or a thriller filled with suspense I would’ve gone with thriller because the premise behind the mystery is excellent. It’s a really interesting mystery and was fascinating and totally attention-grabbing until about 30% completion. Then it lost its thread. The sex scene was awkward, as if it were simply an obligation to appear in the story. It seemed hurried, rushed, as if the characters weren’t ready for it but the writer was.
Happily, it picked up again at about 45% completion when the suspense deepened. I was hooked on the mystery, but the odd sex scenes were cringeworthy. While a book can certainly be a mystery and a thriller and a romance, this one is disjointed. It is far too easy to pick the mystery apart from the suspense apart from the eroticism. It does not flow smoothly.
The mystery was good, the suspense well-paced. The romance was uneven. Madison got to do little more than ask if Jasper were all right; she was dull as dishwater and she could have been so much more. Many of the character interactions are odd. There’s a police detective that apparently is so lacking for work that he could hound a missing person for over a week after she returned.
Far too much happened in the approximately two-week timeframe of the book. At the end it seemed as if we were reading about Jasper model 2, a different character from Jasper 1. Madison was pretty much the same cardboard character throughout.
I loved the mystery. The writer does a good job building suspense - there's even a delightful red herring that is well done (as in Agatha Christie good). I could have done without the romance. I rated the book 2.5 stars and rounded up because the mystery is excellent, and I like the writing style a lot.
When I first read that L. Wilder had a book coming out and that it wasn't going to be one of her famous MC stories. I was a little nervous because I'm a big fan ... BIG FAN of her MC men. What was I worried about? Once I started reading Day Three I did not want to put it down. Jasper Nichols captured me right from the beginning.
Jasper stole my heart, I felt his emptiness, his emptiness was my heartbreak. A tragedy leads him into a life as a hitman. A hitman with a conscious. He's the best at what he does and that's what has him second-guessing his latest assignment. You will be thanking the heavens above for that one. I admit that Jasper is a freaking HOTTIE with a heart and he stole mine.
Madison makes me smile with how sweet she is, her caring heart is felt off of the pages. For reasons unbeknownst to her, her life is turned upside down and she finds herself alone with a man who says he's there to protect her. One look at him and I would definitely feel protected too.
There is not one thing that I did not love about this story, it has suspense, action, and enough sexual chemistry that I enjoy. The slow tease of love is what stands out in this story, it's why I wanted that HEA. It made the romance for Jasper and Madison that more deserving. This story kept me guessing, it also had me questioning when we will be getting Grady and Levi's story. Jasper's brothers make it hard to be a patient woman. I love the bond that this family has, their love and protectiveness are what has me wanting more.
WOW, the amazing L. Wilder brought her A game with the new What Bad Boys Do series, and it started out with a big bang! Jasper Nichols is fighting some very big demons, and decides to hole up in a very remote place, keeping himself from people. When a blast from his past comes with a new job opportunity, Jasper decides why not, it gives him the chance to take from the people who took from him, so a new civilian sniper was born. He does his job without question, until his latest assignment, Madison Brooks. She wasn't a criminal, and he does the unthinkable, he doesn't do his job. Instead, he takes her with him, until he can figure out why there's a hit on her. Madison isn't sure why she wakes up in Jasper's house, but she's drawn to him. They have crazy chemistry, like it's shooting sparks everywhere whenever they're in close vicinity of each other. Jasper tells her that she's in danger, but can she trust him? The description states there are many twists, and yes there are, like I had my suspicions, and they turned out to be close, but not the reason behind it, so my f-bomb dropping was on target. Obviously in the midst of danger, and close quarters, that chemistry wouldn't be denied so sexy times tried to set Jasper's house on fire. And there was quite a bit of big action that kept my heart racing so yeah, another fantastic book by Ms. Wilder. So here's the deal, if you want to know, and you really want to know, how it all turns out, you must get to one clickin! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Wow! Day 3 had me riveted to the pages from the very start while play havoc with my emotions. The book is very well written to the point like I felt like I was right their living the action with characters I had known for years. The books simply stole my heart from the very beginning with events that lead up to Jasper becoming the cold, reclusive man he is today.
You see, Jasper is a hitman. It wasn’t something he set out to be but life events evolved into this career path and now Jasper is one of the best at what he does. Once he is given a mark he has a 4 day plan to execute the hit. But on his latest job, he got to day 3 and decided something wasn’t right. He killed bad people that escaped justice, not demure, sexy couriers who worked an art gallery. On day three his cold heart came to life and he started questioning the hit. Why would anyone want to kill, Madison? She appeared to be an innocent woman from everything Jasper could ascertain. What was it about this woman that made him question is directives for the first time?
From here the author took me on a mesmerizing trip full of suspense, mystery, intrigue and romance. Two people against unimaginable odds. Kudos to the author for an absolutely captivating storyline. This reader can’t wait to see what comes next in the What Bad Boys Do series. As for Day 3, I highly recommend grabbing it up, you won’t be sorry you did. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 phenomenal stars.
Okay so this is a different style of writing for my favorite author L. Wilder. Now you see Jasper in Murphy but that's all the connection.
I love L. Wilder, anything she does I will read. She can take on any genre of writing. Her MC is some of my favorite ever. When she said she was going to bring to life something else I knew I had to one click. And I wasn't disappointed either. The way the store had me hooked from the begining to end I didn't want it to end. I tried to read it slow because of the fact that I wanted to savor it but I just had to. My characters were calling out to me to finish the story, to know what happens next.
Jasper you sweet beautiful loving soul. You beautiful Hitman alpha. How I wish I could just hug you and hold you and tell you that everything is going to be alright. He is this damaged man that is just trying to find a way to live. With what he has been through I don't blame him. Now his commander, I could kick him for bringing that lifestyle to him but then he meets Madison Brooks. So I guess I can forgive his Commander. Now Madison isn't what he is used to seeing on his job. She isn't some hardened criminal. I had a difficult time with this because I wanted so badly to read ahead and figure out why her. I had so many questions. I almost almost gave in but I didn't and in the end it's so worth it.
These two are not what you expect but darn do they love.
Day Three is an exciting, thrill ride of a story that starts a new series from this author. It is not an MC read but the author has taken her tremendous skills and applied them to this romantic suspense story, proving that she is a master of alpha men and writing.
This is the story of Jasper Nichols, a complete and total alpha who is also a hitman (if you’ve read Murphy then you have met him before but it is not necessary). He is your dream man (believe me you’ll want him)! I debated about giving a short synopsis of the plot but I think that it is best left to others. I really want to just say how much this story kept me on the edge of my seat, how I could not put it down, how addicted I was to turning the pages. Days later and I wish I could read it again fresh and new. This is by far a favorite story from this genre.
The characters are detailed and flawed, they felt real and emotional. I really was so involved with this story that I found myself talking to the characters (and that hardly ever happens). The romance is perfectly balanced with the action and the mystery. I loved the choices this author made with the story. I can’t wait for more stories in this series and I hope that others love this story as much as I did. I received an ARC and am leaving an honest review, I also bought a copy.
I have been a big fan of L Wilder’s books for a while now and when I found out that this was going to be a new series, I was so hyped!! And … I was so totally NOT disappointed! I really enjoyed this book. The characters of the book really intrigued me and the flow of the story was awesome.
Jasper is a very too the point character. He follows a path and doesn’t really deviate. But when things don’t make sense, he goes completely off script in a big way. But he never expected Madison would derail anything that goes on within his life. She makes him feel things that he should be feeling and I don’t believe wants to feel. But Madison worms her way in by just being herself. She accepts the damaged man that has seen and done too much and has a very pragmatic handle on the whole situation.
Overall, freaking awesome start to a new series! The characters are engaging and entertaining. The storyline is paced very well and flows easily so to me it was a quick read because I became so caught up. What I really liked was the plot twists that I didn't see coming. I had a feeling about some of it, but the reasoning why … NOPE! Didn’t see that coming at all.
OMG this book has intrigue right from the start. Your questions will turn from who to why. I love how this story has a ‘Jo Raven’ feel to it which is another beloved author. Don’t worry this is definitely a Ms Wilder book but it gave me all the feels that she and other favorite authors produce. All the mystery and unraveling backstory kept encouraged my need to devour this read.
Jasper and Madison had me at hello. They are so spicy together. You feel the attraction from the beginning. It caused some conflicting emotions when I thought about what brought them together.
Jasper has some real darkness though it is expected since he is a hitman. Thank god he has some heart and doesn’t just do things without forethought otherwise this story would have a very different telling.
Madison is AMAZING! You love her from the beginning. Plan for tons of questions. Why would someone put a hit on such a beautiful soul... eek keep reading so you can know all.
Ms Wilder branched our from her MC world (I LOVE THAT WORLD BY THE WAY) and tackled this genre beautifully. It wouldn’t be a Wilder book without the tease at the end of future characters and reads. LOVE IT! She knows how to feed my addiction. Wink. Happy Reading!
I didn't know what to expect with this book. It is completely different from what we are use to from this author. Well let me tell you that she as usual did NOT disappoint and she delivered a phenomenal story!!! I loved this book so much!!! Jasper has dealt with a lot in his life....he is having a hard time dealing with all of the loss. Someone he knew in the military reached out to him for a new career as a hitman. His next hit was unexpected and made him feel a certain type of way that made him hesitate. He couldn't figure out what Madison had done to get a contract on his head. He knows that he needs to protect her and decides to bring her to his cabin to figure out what to do next. Feelings start to develop and a relationship between the two develop. Can Jasper keep Madison safe while danger is literally around every corner? I loved everything about this story it had danger, mystery, action, suspense, humor and lots of hot steamy moments. This story is a must read and I highly recommend this to all. I can't wait to read the next book in this amazing series....well done!!!!!
