I’ve listened to a few of Meredith Potts audiobooks. This one is from a different series however the characters are the same, but older.

The narrator in Ice cream with a side of murder is new to me. I found this a little confusing when I realised the story was about the same town etc.

Overall I enjoyed this mystery. It follows Meredith Potts usual pattern. Sabrina has a murder to solve with her detective husband. She works her way around the town and a confession fits the case together.

The narrator reads at a faster pace. I preferred Lisa Beacon but once I got into this story it was enjoyable.

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sabrina Carlson's life is getting back on track since she severed relations with her biological father, Walter Cobb. The most difficult adjustment is accepting how he disappointed her. There are also all of the lies he told that she very much wanted to believe.

When her husband, Detective David Carlson comes home early one day, she is surprised and wonders why he is home so early. Unfortunately, Dave is the bearer of some bad news. He informs her that her birth father is dead.

Who would kill Walter? Why was he kill? Was he telling Sabrina the truth about his life? Had he actually reformed? What will David and Sabrina reveal the truth about Walter Cobb?

Meredith Potts has introduced a new character who, through conversations and actions, explains a lot about Sabrina and how she became the way she is. It is a great book with lots of action, twists and turns and interaction among all the characters. As with all the books I have read in this and her other series, they can each be read as a series, or as a stand-alone.

Sigh... Where to begin?

This is not a mystery. It is a "wait for answers to fall into the lap" story. Nobody does any investigating. Nobody tries to solve the mystery. They all just talk. A lot. This is a book of dialogue. All dialogue. All terrible dialogue.

There is ZERO character development. The main character is actually not the main character. She is secondary to her husband, David, who does all the work. He does all the interrogating. The climax does not even involve her. In fact, I realized at the end of the book I didn't even know the "main" character's name. I had to go back to the book blurb to figure it out. Oh yeah... Sabrina. I then searched for "Sabrina" in my kindle: it was only said twice in the entire book.

Why did I pick this up, you may ask? I had to finish a challenge... Read something with a dairy product on the cover. Oh yeah... ABOUT THAT...

What the heckety-heck does the cover and the title have to do with this book?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

There is one (and only one) reference to ice cream in this book. It is in the very first chapter:

"How about getting some ice cream?"
"You know me so well."
"Is that a yes to ice cream?"
"Are you kidding? When it comes to getting ice cream, the answer is always yes."

And here's the kicker: WE DON'T EVEN GET TO SEE THEM GO GET ICE CREAM. Give me that at least! Let me crave a milkshake or a sundae or something.

Pointless title. Pointless book.

I can only say that all the five-star reviews must be provided for by the author's circle of advance readers who won't actually provide the author with honest helpful criticism.

I liked this book it Is exactly what you want to lose your self for a couple of hours in somebody else's problems and being a cozy mystery it is light hearted with with no blood, Gore or tears. I did wonder why Sabrina was aloud to investigate or why no one in her family was suspected but other than that I liked the story.
This time the murder in Treasure Cove hits close to home and Sabrina's estranged father is the murder victim. Is Sabrina ready to learn more about the father that walked out on her and her mother all those years ago? The truth is Sabrina isn't the only one to have been let down, lied or deceived to by her father and there are plenty of suspects that she needs to question and plenty of comfort food to keep her going.
The narrator did a better job with this book but she still sounds really excitable.

This time there will be no reconciliation

It has been some time since Sabrina’s real father showed up in Treasure Cove. Their reunion was nothing like she imagined and now avoids him as much as possible, but she hoped that he would just leave town, not turn up dead. This will be one of the hardest cases Sabrina and her husband, Detective David Carlson have encountered. They soon discover that her father had many enemies and he had told her many lies but she is still determined to bring the murderer to justice. This puzzling case will require plenty of ice cream as they work through the suspects.

I was really hoping that Sabrina and her father would be able to have some sort of relationship but his death seemed inevitable. I like how friendships and characters' lives progress from book to book. This is a very enjoyable series.

Listening to a cozy is just so much fun. It adds that element of mystery with a little humor and is just now so intensely serious. This is one of the reasons I love Meredith Potts. I know when I pick up a book of hers, I will have a couple of hours of pure entertainment. This one gives us Sabrina and David investigating the death of Sabrina's biological father. Several things pop up with this one, and though Sabrina didn't get the chance to have a relationship with him, she is able to learn more about him through this investigation. It's a little more heartbreaking, but it's still a good story! And we do get to our coffee, and see our friends. With Lili Dubuque as the narrator, she again makes it a great listen!

Audible has great narration to keep your interest. Her dad walter is back and tries to rebuild a relationship eith her. In the end he only wants money. A few days later he is dead. Many emotion go through her. Sabrina an amateur sleuth who works with her detective husband David investigate te murder. There are many twists and turnsfor this cozt mystery. The narration is good and maintains your interest. Her dad was supposedto be off alcohol but he has matches from a bar. You will love this story. I highly recommend this book.

Ice Cream With a Side of Danger, My twenty-seventh short read/listen from author Meredith Potts and the third in the new Danger in Treasure Cove Mystery Series, Well-written & enjoyable. Another cute, clean cozy mystery. As good as her writing has been, these last 3 books are even better, perhaps a more mature writing style after writing so many books? I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Again I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Lili Dubuque. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Sabrina worries more about the death of a plant her dad, Walter Cobb, had given her then she does later when he is murdered. If she was a cop, would she be allowed to work a case where a relative is involved?

I enjoyed reading this cozy mystery. Yet, I have questions that are not answered. The first chapter mentions ice cream but it is not referred to anywhere else. Sabrina is some kind of sleuth and is allowed to be in the police station and have access to files but, it is her husband that shows his badge. So, why is she allowed such access to files? She refers to a day off, which would mean Sabrina has a job - is she a cop, a private eye, or a police consultant of some sort?

This story starts with a death…..of a fern plant. The plant that Sabrina’s estranged father gave her when he was trying to get into her good graces after decades of being out of her life only to really be asking for money. One day Sabrina’s husband, a police detective comes home to inform her that he father has been found dead, murdered. Sabrina still feels compelled to assist in the investigation. During the investigation, she truly finds out how much he lied to her.

Another Sabrina Carlsen murder, this time a lot closer to home. Sabrina learned more about her father as she helped Davide investigate his murder. It was an entertaining story, and I continue to enjoy the personal relationships in Sabrina's life

The narration by Lili Dubuque was just as entertaining as the story. She gave all the characters a bit of personality to keep them separate. Good job.

I received this audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.

Sabrina and David are once again thrown into the pit. They have a murder of a friend to solve and so many suspects and no proof against any of them. This is a fun series about a husband, who is a police officer, and a wife, who loves to solve mysteries. Together they venture into the jungle of crime to keep their town and its citizens safe. A fun series that you will enjoy.

A heavy drinking gambler is found murdered in his apartment. He has more enemies than friends, or should I say friend singular. The police are stumped when most suspects have no alibi. Through constant surveillance they eventually get the killer. A clean mystery with no sex or foul language. I was gifted this from the author.

David and Sabrina

David is a police detective. Sabrina is his wife and sleuthing partner. This time the victim is her birth father. It's a highly emotional case for her. David tries to get her to sit it out, but she is determined to solve it. Empathetic characters, interesting plot with twists and turns, and good detective work.

Ice Cream with a Side of Murder (Sabrina Carlson Cozy Mystery Book Five) was a great read by Meredith Potts. Sabrina tries to keep her emotions out of investigating murders but the latest murder is difficult for her to keep her feelings out of. She has a hard time focusing enough to bring the murderer to justice. I loved reading this book and can’t wait to read more by Meredith Potts.

Good cozy mystery

A good storyline, interesting characters, suspense, drama, and twists galore. The only thing I didn't like was that the main character referred to her husband as "my husband" way too often. A few times would've been no problem, but almost every time she mentioned got to be a bit annoying for me. Otherwise it was a good story.

Sabrina and her father are not all that close since their big falling out. But when her father is found dead, this really shakes up Sabrina! She will not rest until she finds out who killed her father. Problem is, he had quite a few enemies. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

A murder in the family. Sabrina isn't sure of much when the latest case is the murder of her loser deadbeat birth father. She needs to work on the case with her police detective husband in order to get her head together and solve the case. Good work and a good story!

Ice cream with a side of danger

I like the way Meredith writes. Even though it's the same outline, each book has different endings. I like how it's written first hand. Her other series is just as good.

Very interesting

This one wasn’t as intriguing as the second book, but I will say the first twist in the book really did throw me off. The ending was good and it is getting easier to deal with the writing style.

Fun mystery to read ...not too long or too short

Don't miss this story. Rather sad for Sabrina but I am certain she will spring back as long as she and David can still work together.

While I enjoyed the overall story here. The writing is a bit of a let down. So much " he said" " she said" " I said" and not much character development at all. Not the best I've read of Meredith Potts I'm afraid.
