Social history, beautifully researched and with just the right amount of information provided.
I found 'Rogues River" on the local history shelf at Rainham library while searching for "Tales of London's docklands"

Rogues River utilises all six of Kipling's serving men.

Having read the library copy a number of times, I found it so fascinating as to seek and acquire my own copy (via biblio.co.uk.) for the princely sum of £5 delivered to the door.

Rogues River covers all aspects of hundreds of years of liquid history condensed into a book small enough to slip into a wide pocket and is written in a form that allows dipping in at any page.
