When she has a chance, will Lana have what it takes?

Mechanics are not combat classes but fighting and running from fights is all Lana feels like they’ve done since she and Peter woke up; and Peter’s done the lion’s share of the work. Wisp keep’s repeating that a Mechanic’s primary role is to build and upgrade equipment to support her team, but how is Lana supposed to do that when they haven’t been able to stay in the same place for more than a day? The fairy forest was no help, relying exclusively on magic instead of mechanics and, besides, there were far too many people trying to kill them to concentrate on building. And Lana wants to create.

Enter Brookfield. Sleepy little town, nice folks, no House warriors, friendly Chief and a forge operated by a taciturn smith who grudgingly will allow Lana to help, sort of. Things couldn’t be better, right? Except all is not well in Brookfield. Peter has sunk into a mood over Frost, there’s a time monster threatening the townsfolk and a Champion from the city is trying desperately to prove himself to the Chief’s beautiful daughter to the detriment of everyone around him. There’s danger around every corner and Brookfield’s fate may rest on Lana being able to build the perfect solution. Will Lana be able to rise to the challenge now that they’ve finally found their FIRST FORGE? Stay tuned to find out!

Finially Lana admits it. About damn time.. Now she's gone from insufrable to greatly tolorated. She had a HUGE chip on her should since the jump and it was grinding me into the ground. I'll be honest, if this book had been like the other 3 I think I would have dropped this. She ALSO started to come around and actually try NOT to be a class "A" jerk this book. It's almost like she's starting to become *gasp* human. I know I know, that might be a bit harsh and she does have a lot to deal with (like what that sign said in book 1), however, she shouldn't be taking it out on Peter like that. That dude is a goddamn saint to put up with her like this. With that said, I enjoyed the book before, but Lana was a huge linchpin, now that the "event" has happened, I greatly enjoy this book a lot more. I enjoyed the other portions, but as of right now, this is my fav to date. Also, that ending tho. I'm anxious to see what happens when they have a clash of wills again.

A major improvement over book 3.

The story has finally started to get back on track as Lana comes to the conclusion that she has to actually help Peter instead of being a useless naysayer . Overall it was good and interesting to read.
