Sui Ishida (石田スイ, Ishida Sui), born December 28, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese manga artist
In 2010 he won the Young Jump 113th Grand Prix award with Tokyo Ghoul (東京喰種, Tōkyō Kushu). In March 2011, the same oneshot was published in the 2nd Issue of Miracle Jump. And later in September 2011, Tokyo Ghoul started as a series in Weekly Young Jump 2011-41 Issue. In December 2011, he made another oneshot about Rize that was published in December 2011 in Miracle Jump 6th Issue, which was later collected in the 6th volume of Tokyo Ghoul.
In 2013, he also started Tokyo Ghoul: Jack in the digital magazine Jump LIVE.

Sui Ishida is his penname; nobody knows his real name or what he looks like.

Creí que iba a sentir una desconexión tan grande con la historia por haberla abandonado tanto tiempo, pero ha sido un error, la tengo fresca en la memoria y me siguen gustando varios de sus personajes. Y no, no es una historia perfecta pero la quiero mucho, con todos sus fallos.

Este tomo le he dado las cuatro estrellas básicamente porque me encanta muchísimo Amon y también Touka, que tuvieron una conversación muy bonita. Además de Akira y Hinami que me hicieron llorar, los mensajes sobre el odio y su inutilidad me llenan el corazón para bien.

De resto, ya me están aburriendo los payasos y sus ansias de caos y desorden. Lo mismo va para Furuta, que es el principal actor de esto ahora mismo.

Por cierto, ¿Y esa obsesión insana de Mutsuki por Kaneki de dónde salió? parece un auténtico psicópata que igual no me extraña, ya venía mostrando desde hace rato su desequilibrio mental.

Tampoco me gusta cuando el amor se quiere apropiar del sentido de una obra con su trama y sus distintas subtramas y menos si estas me parecen un poquito forzadas, antinaturales o directamente no me gusta la pareja. Esto va dirigido a Yonebayashi y Urie.

Mientras que el Kaneki x Touka y el Amon x Akira me encanta, están tan bien hecha y construidas sus relaciones que no me puedo quejar.

WHAT IN SWEET HELL????????

here’s the thing. tokyo ghoul has always been horrifying, but i never truly believed there would come a time when i wouldn’t be able to handle whatever sui ishida threw my way. mutsuki’s character arc, however, is..... surprising. not only is it harder to stomach than i ever thought any arc in tokyo ghoul would be but also feels less like proper development and more like shock for the sake of shock value. disappointing as hell because mutsuki has always been one of :re’s most interesting characters.

still, being slightly let down by one volume out of 25 so far is pretty damn amazing for a series.

A softer calmer volume (as calm and soft as Tokyo Ghoul series can be).

Chapter 120 is the best chapter in the entire series, don't fight me on it.

The Premise

In Tokyo Ghoul:re vol 11 we see the resolutions of many little dangling ghouls and investigators after the big showdown with the CCG... and its a beautiful thing! Ken Kanaki is putting out one fire at a time and learns that he has ghouls at his back that he can rely on just as he did investigators as Haise. The CCG though has totally metamorphosed... and its an ugly thing that even investigators are realizing doesn't bode well for the future. There are new hybrids in town and they run ghouls to ground better than any other investigator before them... the future of Ken's ghoul / human alliance is looking to shut down before its even really begun!


The Buzz

Reading Tokyo Ghoul:re vol 11 you don't realize things are buzzing so much at the CCG. We get glimpses at the changes but we are revisiting the past with other characters and you are totally caught up in their history and emotions. So when the CCG DOES move it's BAM! In your face and ready to take names... My heart was in my throat for Ken. As the leader of the ghouls he has a purpose that I can't see succeeding yet you can't help wanting it to. And now the new kids on the block are proving themselves to be holy terrors!!


The Feels

At first I struggled to even recognize characters when I started this series... and now my heart breaks for some of them who have been cornerstone... It slows the pace at just the right moment. It focuses on some of my favorite humans and ghouls alike. I'm talking about Mado, Amon, the Owl and Yonebayashi. Tokyo Ghoul:re vol 11 takes the time to give us resolution for some really long relationships and to take others to the next level. This was really impressive to me as Tokyo Ghoul:re allows so much to happen off the page that it was exciting to really get closure.


The Visuals

Tokyo Ghoul:re vol 11 had battles but they aren't so much the focus in this volume. They are there to get our heart rate up and the adrenaline pumping. We did get to see a neat new kagune and I totally think everyone should read this volume to see it... But its in the history frames where I was blown away. There is a montage between Ken and Amon... WOW! And some stark frames between the Owl and Amon that made my heart ache for these friends. Let's just say the art will totally convince you to read Tokyo Ghoul:re if you give it a chance.

Long-time readers will totally go bonkers for Tokyo Ghoul:re vol 11! And if you haven't picked up this manga series yet then this volume is a good reason you should. The plight of the ghouls and the investigators is a war with no sides to choose because you understand them all. You have fallen for different characters on either side of the divide and they've made the ride totally worth it!

Volume splendido ♥ relativamente tranquillo ma che approfondisce, a volte in modo toccante, a volte in modo divertente, le interazioni tra i vari personaggi (amici, nemici, ex-amici, ex-nemici, uomini, ghoul, mezzi ghoul, ex-uomini, colleghi, ex-colleghi, di nuovo colleghi, cattivi, buoni, ex-cattivi, ex-buoni, morti, resuscitati, gatti, amanti, ex-amanti, quasi amanti, futuri amanti, bambini, adulti, pazzi, ex-pazzi, etc. Ce n'è per tutti i gusti).



Alla fine mi sono arresa, ho preso la lente d'ingrandimento perchè ci sono dei balloon con scritte talmente in piccolo >_< che è umanamente impossibile leggere ad occhio nudo (testato su amici e parenti) e deve esserci un'illuminazione molto forte e si fa ancora fatica. Oltretutto spesso riguardano i "pensieri" di Naki che sono già di per sè incomprensibili XD

Ora non vedo l'ora di leggere il volume 12 che mi arriverà a giorni.

It was an emotionally charged volume! Finally, Hinami, Akira, and Touka faced off against each other! I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. The art style is becoming more refined, and the characters’ development is truly remarkable.

After the huge battle in the previous volume, there are a lot of heart-to-heart among the main characters in this volume.

'I believed I was a kind person...but I guess I wasn't.'


(1) Amon v.s Kurona and the new Owl, yeah!!

(2) I like how the romantic storylines are developed in this volume.

(3) I also like Akira and Amon's confrontation, and the heart-to-heart between Amon and Kaneki!!!

(4) Things aren't looking great in the CCG department.

(5) and I do like the self-discovery/ soul-searching the main characters do in this volume!

Off we go to the next chapter!

The first half of this ties up the ghouls recruitment and clown arc. The 2nd half? We get to hang with some old friends!

The first half is exciting and fun. We get to see rescue missions, even for teh CGC, who aren't all bad. Remember that, just because the leader is insane. So after some intense battles things settle down and we get some alone time with Amon, Kankei, and more. It's all nice to see everyone talking again, joking, and relaxing. Some make major choices to leave behind their old life, some get ready for a huge revolution coming, and some are still batshit insane.

I love the more tender moments with characters. This is a easy 4.5 out of 5 for me.

WOW I have emotions.

Amon and Kaneki reuniting and Amon and Akira reuniting made me so happy. Also Akira and Kaneki’s friendship and goodbye....I’m dead bye.

The scene where Hinami and Akira hugged and the way them and their parents are like two sides of the same coin??? Tears may have been present.

I’ve always liked the idea of Touka and Kaneki being a thing just because that’s always what I’d thought would happen but I loooooved their conversation at the end of this volume so much. I can now say I am so here for it. I think they’re really sweet.

I love Saiko and I’m so intrigued by Urie. Takizawa makes me sad. On the other hand, Mutsuki... bitch what the fuck. Furuta is weird and freaks me out but I just wanna see what he’s gonna do.

I ordered the last 5 volumes of this series and they arrived a few days ago so expect me to be binge reading this series to the end over the next week or so!

So this continues to be brutal, but slows down a tiny bit to give some character interactions. I am wondering where all the Q's will fall when things come to a head. Mutsuki... still so many questions about what has been revealed... but crazy? Probably...

A really great volume filled with emotional character beats that are payoffs to things the series has been setting up even way back in TG. The characters have really grown on me and I’m nervous about how it’s all gonna end up.

I was fed SO GOOD with this volume 🙏🏻

Amon was truly a star 💖 They’ve put my man through hell, and he doesn’t deserve it! But it was beautiful, though, seeing both Kaneki and Takizawa be so committed to making sure Amon returned to his proper self. They saw him consumed by his kakuja form, but they did not leave him like that. They’re so real for that 💖😭💖

What truly needs to be said, though, is why the hell is no one SAYING ANYTHING about Mutsuki being deranged? Like listen, Imma support my trans son in his rights and wrongs, but everyone is just ignoring the 🚩 Bro is literally shown repeatedly stabbing Sasaki in this volume 😩 Like what the fuck is that? It was cool af tbh, and it ties beautifully with his back story, but I cannot with everyone just being all “lalalala.” Even more so when at the end of this volume he finds Kaneki!

Finally, Furata is a freakazoid. I didn’t even mention in my review of the previous volume how he wanted to make Rize into a baby making factory 😭 The fuck is wrong with this man? And now he’s televising the CCG eradicating ghouls left and right. WHAT IS THIS MAN’S GOAL? He’s a fucking ghoul too so like 😭 He has me out here STRESSED.

P.S. Touka straight up asking Kaneki if he’s a virgin was a straight up slay

P.P.S. FINALLY Akira said, “Huh, maybe ghouls do deserve rights.”

I can't believe we're getting ready to wrap up Tokyo Ghoul.

The final arc is building and I'm ready for it but not ready at the same time.

The interaction between Amon and Kaneki was really nice and I appreciated it. I always thought they would get along well.

Takizawa makes me sad, but I'm glad he's alive because I loved him in the first series.

Warnings: violence and gore, body horror and mutilation, unethical experimentation on minors, sexual assault (rape), cannibalism, allusions to war orphans

There was much to process in this volume, beginning with Kaneki and his allies infiltrating the lab to get the Rc suppressor, and encountering Amon, Takizawa and Kurona saving Amon, then Furata doubling down on taking control of the CCG by getting himself accepted as the head, and then going ahead and introducing a new squad of Quinxes, called Oggai, which are too good at ghoul extermination, and then on the emotional side, there are important conversations for Akira to have. The battle between the ghouls and humans intensifies as lines are getting drawn again, with CCG dedicated to eradicating ghouls and GOAT focusing on ghoul interests. Kaneki, meanwhile, has decidedly chosen a side this time, and he talks about why he has finally done so. I had mixed reactions to this volume, so I will go over the good parts first because that is easier.

As always there were some epic battle scenes in this volume. Saiko unleashing her full power on Urie, showcasing how being strong and muscly and shit is not the end all of being a good investigator. Through that new Quinx, we see how Saiko had directed her training to develop her kagune, instead on just building a Rc-pathway-rich body like Urie through damaging his body through exercise. Amon's story plays out from his life in Kanou's lab, as well as how Takizawa/Owl was faring at the same time, and I can't believe I am saying this, but I actually sort of like Owl now? Granted it wasn't his fault that he was experimented upon (and oh god, when is Kanou going to die already?) but he has had a messed-up way of dealing with it so far, and now finally his character has got to a place where he is able to accept his new existence. Amon hopefully gets a better ending, too, and if we don't see him again after this volume, I would be happy because his story has finally come to a good point and please let's not torture him anymore? Speaking of getting to good points, Touka finally has a 'talk' with Kaneki and she all but propositions him (his reactions were so hilarious!) only for Tsukiyama to ghoul-block her.

The story is heading towards a big clash yet again, with Furata openly declaring war on ghouls (by staging a fake execution of Kaneki) and getting more public about it. Even if the CCG gets defeated, the hope of having peace between the two species seems more difficult than ever; ghouls don't even have the illusion of secrecy now. And then again, there are some ghouls, like the Clowns that are on the CCG's side, not to mention the whole V organization (who don't seem as terrifying when compared to the potential of the Oggai). And as the war intensifies, we get to take a step back and talk about the consequences of war through Akira's arc. Akira, now woken and under the care of the ghouls, the very people she hates, has a lot to think over. Amon, who has been fighting an internal war since the moment he met Kaneki, helps her clarify some things (and maybe there's a resolution with respect to their relationship? who knows? it was pretty much subtext). She finally has a confrontation with Touka and Hinami, as they go over Mado's death; Akira's thoughts on ghoul extermination and Hinami's thoughts on her being Mado's daugher - it is all so complicated, and dealt with carefully. The conflict between the two sides is explored, as as the consequences of that conflict.

And finally, I come to the bad. I will be frank - when I first learnt Tooru was trans, I was so happy because yay queer rep in a major seinen series!, but seeing how his story arc is playing out is making me regret ever getting happy over this inclusion. Look, we all know this series is brutal - characters have done some truly messed up things, have had some horrible messed up things done to them - and so this isn't really new. My problem is with Tooru's arc being solely about him being trans, and its not even a good sort of arc; first of all, it seems a blend of Kaneki's first transformation and Kanae's gender identity arc. Tooru is super messed up after what happened in the cave at Rushima (which was also steeped in transmisia btw), plus his whole homicidal memories coming back, and like, I would get him going dark side. Heck, that is pretty much what Kaneki has been doing on a regular basis. What is messed up, is what turn his arc took in this volume - when he attacks Uta during the Clown's siege, the latter changes his face to Sasaki (much like how he manipulated Suzuya with Shinohara's face during an earlier battle) and Tooru instead attacks him, and Towards the end, he even approaches Kaneki in what we have to perceive as a threat because of his obsession for him. And get this - Tooru says his feelings for Sasaki are such a 'girl thing' or some such nonsense, which opens a whole can of 'what kind of forking transphobia is this?' I have admired this series' story telling styles and the marked evolution in the artwork, and Tokyo Ghoul is certainly a story that challenges and incorporates many issues that mirror our world, but this is not the way I wanted the only trans character to be treated, wherein him being AFAB is the crux of his woes in this story. And he isn't the only queer character that has been repped terribly - Matsuri (who is revealed to have feelings for Urie) is played off as creepy, and Nico has been frequently called names, and yes, both of them are technically antagonistic characters but harmful stereotypes are harmful, okay. Yes, this is not new, and it has been a slippery slope of messed things happening, and yes, this series has literal cannibalism by the protagonist, so it doesn't exactly advertise anyone having any moral high ground anywhere, but good god, don't include characters just to exploit their diverse experiences in such a terrible way!

Overall, I would say, that while this volume hit the marks on plot and story for the most part, because I was riding the high of Vol 7 & 8 very recently, I was extra disappointed with the turn this volume took.
