Hearts on Fire

Rate this book
HEARTS ON FIRE is the final book in bestselling author Catherine Wiltcher’s dark and thrilling Santiago Trilogy.

My Devil
He came into my life like a raging storm.
The man I despised.
The killer with no conscience.
I fell as hard as a woman like me can fall.
When he bleeds, I feel his pain. When we kiss, I taste his tragedy. When he kills, my heart is stained with all the colors of his vengeance.

My Angel
In the heat of the night we loved hard and became one.
I was the captor who became the captivated.
Her light was a blazing trail, illuminating the bullet holes that studded my darkness.
I betrayed but she forgave.
Now we’re standing on the threshold of hell and everyone around us is burning.

Trust no one.
Seek the truth.
Deliver justice.

We have no choice but to finish this war… Together.

Dante is one of a kind.
He is who he is.
He cannot be tamed.
He cannot be conquered.

His glance fully disarms you in the blink of an eye.
This is a male who is in a class of his own.
Merciless.
Arrogant.
Unyielding.
Fierce.
Lethal.

Even when he showed a semblance of humanity, his pedestal never wavered.
His personality was never altered throughout the stories in which he appeared.
His presence was always grande, magnificent, outstanding and riveting.

Dante was and still is a Symbol.
A Legend.
A Myth.

No matter how many years pass, he will have a privileged place in my heart. 💕

It’s been a year since Catherine Wiltcher passed away… 💔
My most favourite author.
In loving memory, meeting Dante again would be the least I could do…

Catherine Wiltcher, always loved, never forgotten, forever missed.

Dante Santiago. A master criminal, a killer. A man who hates to repeat himself. People are afraid even to whisper his name...
But not Eve...

“Everything about Dante screams sin but when we touch, sparks happen. It’s the kind of dark magic you read about.” Eve

Eve decided to follow her heart’s compass. It was meant to be regardless.

“I once was a woman who was fighting a destiny that was written in the stars from the start.” Eve

She finally sneaks into Dante’s heart and his reaction is blinding!

“She’s my whole fucking universe.” Dante

I never expected the third part to be that great!! I have no words for all this turmoil that followed, full of lies, backstabbing, double crossing, killings and revelations. 😱😱😱

I noticed that Catherine Wiltcher’s mafia books do not focus on the romantic/love aspect. They have an incredible balance of passion and action or suspense.
She has an amazing writing talent that captivates me whenever I read her stories.

The Santiago trilogy was an excellent read and I am hoping to meet Dante in the stories that will follow. 🤩

description I can't believe that this trilogy is over. 😭 Since book one I have been in love with both Dante and Eve. I could happily read twelve books completely focused on this couple. 💓 That said, I've got my fingers crossed a few of the secondary characters are whispering their stories in Catherine's ear and there will be more story to come for everyone. 🔜

description

So deets...This is the third book in so it will come as no surprise that I again say that the writing was fantastic. It was well paced. The plot remained intriguing. It was full of twists and turns. It was dark. It was angsty. It was bloody. 🔪 It was sexy. Dante will have you wanting to dick punch him one minute and wanting to kiss it better the next. 👄🙈 Eve remained a strong and feisty heroine. There was a strong cast of secondary characters. I enjoyed the little glimpses of backstory that enlightened us to how Dante and Joseph became friends. Anna was on my shit list for a while, but she worked her way back into my good graces. And Rick...sleazy Rick. I loved him...he needs a book. As does Roman. 👀

description

Of course, as with all three of these books there wasn't any OW drama. I appreciate an author that can write a fantastic series without including crazy OW and ad nauseam mentions of the hero's prior sex life. 🙌 Last, it was all wrapped up in a sweet and satisfying ending. 💞

So ya, I was sad to see this series end but I have the hope there will be more to come! 💑

The story of the devil and his angel comes to an end and what an explosive last book!

We start right after book 2 ends where Anna has been kidnapped and taken by Sevastien's men and held for three days before being saved. This doesn't happen right away and the road to figuring out what happened to her, where she is and how to get her out is a major plot point. Of course, once she is saved she is no longer the Anna we knew, she is a shell of her former self and god only knows what was done to her within those three days. The only one she clings onto is Joseph, her relationship with Eve is strained because she views Dante has a true villain and refuses to understand why her best friend would ever marry him.

If you are more curious about her journey and her eventual relationship with Joseph please read the Grayson duet! It's amazing (once I get through my arcs I will keep going with my future rereads).

We also get a lot more information and Dante/Joseph's story and their time in Afghanistan.

I mentioned this in my original review, but Eve's father was the true villain in my eyes. Everyone else never pretends to be anything then what they are but he was the cause for so much pain when it came to Eve. He sold her when she was a CHILD to Sevastien for two weeks in order to join the organisation and make money....we do not know the length of which he was involved, was he abusing the girls too? but his ending was too quick and too easy in my eyes. Her mom was killed too, and I wonder if she knew? or found out about it at the end?

Roman was an enigma, he played the role of the FBI agent too well at times and you wondered what he was thinking when he made his decisions. It obviously was out of the desperation, and it backfired for a moment, but Dante gave himself up and placed Sevastien into the hands of the FBI to get Eve away.....did we actually think he would spend more time in jail or actually be sentenced? Of course, not lol

He was rescued after a month away and it is obvious that Roman helped get him out after telling him before he put the keys into his hand that he was taking over his father's work.

Another thing to note is that Eve is pregnant in this and by the epilogue she has given birth to another child. Both girls and both have books out now which I hope everyone will also read!

We get the final nail in the coffin for Dante about his daughter Isabella. Her remains were found, and he laid her to rest. That is all I will say about that storyline because this is one thing I won't spoil in my spoiler review!

Original review (2021): I’m sad this trilogy had to end since I’ll miss Dante and Eve, but I can’t wait to read about Joseph and Rick!

One thing I won’t miss is her dad since he was just disgusting, and I am in utter shock by his actions.

I couldn’t have imagined a better conclusion for Dante and Eve. Dante remains true to his unrepentant nature, while being impossibly in love. Likewise, Eve is a bâdâss in her own right. This series was 🤌🏻! FYI: Still strolling the aisles at my local liquor stores for fun. Nothing yet, but I’ll remain vigilant.

I HATE you! I hate the shit out of you for giving me a book hangover!!!!

I put this book on hiatus for a long while precisely because I wouldn't have to go through what I'm going through right now! Somehow.... I knew Hearts on Fire was going to damage me. This book broke my heart and then super glued it together before taking a hammer to it again!

I loved Dante Santiago and I don't know how I'm going to get over him. It goes without saying that the plot was smashing!

Desperately waiting for Grayson!

I feel like the ending was too abrupt. How did Eve and Anna make up? Did Eve still have flashbacks? Did Eve figure out what happened to her? These are the questions I am left with.

I don’t think I’ve ever used the term “book hangover” but I’m fucking feeling it right now. I’m speechless. I can’t stop thinking about this trilogy. I need to buy this in paperback. I simply need more. Thank god this author wrote books for the side characters because I’m about to read her entire back list.
Hot damn. This trilogy is going down as one the best mafia series I’ve ever read.

“I’m married.
I’m pregnant.
A psycho we’ve all underestimated is still holding my best friend hostage.
Dante’s decided to wage war with a Russian billionaire Bratva boss”

and that’s the basis of book three. But let me tell you, when you think that someone is on one team, they’re on the complete opposite team that you didn’t even expect. There are so many players in the game it is.. I don’t even know... I’m speechless still a day after reading this series.

This series is pretty dark as it has a lot of murder in it but it also talks a lot about sex trafficking minors. And I’m talking about really young children. One child is Dante’s from a past fling he had. And while he was never part of the child’s life, he does seek revenge.
Dante - he’s a really brutal character. He is everything that I expect to read when it comes reading a mafia “romance”.
He’s done some things in this trilogy that I personally could not forgive him for but his relationship with Eve is the purest form of obsessive love and dark romance.

“He uses the word ‘love’ so sparingly, but when he bestows it he hangs my own heart amongst the stars in the sky. I love the bones of this man. I love the light that he fights so hard to repress. I love the dark that he unleashes to keep me safe.”

Eve was made for Dante. If she can love this man and forgive him for all his sins?!
And the sex scenes between these two?! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

This book is really nonstop action. There were a ton of side characters that really surprised me with what side of the game they were playing on. And I was genuinely shocked when true identities were revealed.

I love the flash backs of Dante’s with his history with Grayson (his second in command). Knowing Grayson has his own books out, I appreciate seeing how their friendship started. These two are some badass mother fuckers. Can I say that on GR?!

One thing I have to give the author huge credit for is she never strayed from Dante’s character.
Too many times do I read so called “dark romance with alpha male characters” and the antihero ends up being a pussy whipped submissive groveling little shit. 😆
Not Dante Santiago!!!
I love the ending of this entire trilogy. It wrapped things up very well. I am absolutely obsessed and I cannot wait to buy the paper backs of each book because I need to re-read this series in the future!

5 stars!

Bugs and Turncoats

Catherine Wiltcher The Santiago Trilogy

Oh, the twists, the turns, the unhealthy relationships and the makeup sex! They kept me tuned in. Even when things got ugly, I couldn't turn away. Much like Eve (Myers) Miller does when it comes to Dante Santiago, I stayed the course.

After the cliffhanger in book two, I'm glad I didn't wait to finish the trilogy. There are bombs dropped from the beginning, and they keep coming all the way until the final chapters. Some of them are utterly despicable, so be mindful of the triggers. There aren't a lot of details, but there doesn't need to be when it comes to raping women and children. Honestly, I'd prefer details of Dante's bloodlust over rape given the choice, and I'm grateful it isn't a choice I needed to make.

This is definitely not a standalone. There are partial references to prior events and plots that carry throughout.

I listened to this as part of The Santiago Trilogy. The narrators are JF Harding and Sarah Puckett. They are terrific choices for these characters. There are a couple of pronunciations that are incorrect, like Petrov, but it's still a very enjoyable listen.

*** 5 KINGDOM COME STARS ***

My angel has fallen, and what a pretty sight it is to behold. She’s the queen of my fucking underworld now.

Buckle yourself in for the stunning conclusion to Dante & Eve's story. Packed with drama, tension, intense emotions, danger, hot passion and shocking revelations, this book delivers all the answers readers have been waiting for in jaw-dropping and nail-biting fashion. I still have yet to pick up a book written by Catherine Wiltcher that didn't get me completely wrapped in her writing. It's hard to explain, yet she writes such rich, multifaceted stories, blended with heartfelt emotion and clever wit..... Irresistible irresistible characters and off-the-charts sexiness. She ties all of those pieces together through a creative, inspired plot, resulting a win for me.

I love the bones of this man. I love the light that he fights so hard to repress. I love the dark that he unleashes to keep me safe.

In Hearts On Fire both Dante & Eve have been through hell and back. Forces from both sides tried to tear them apart only for them to come back stronger. In this book chaos has painted the streets red. It's always the ones you trust most who have no qualms in putting a bullet right between your eyes. With the FBI breathing down Dante's neck and the Russians, he is on edge. It's not just him anymore. He would do whatever it takes to protect his queen. No matter the cost.

The battle is far from over but with Eve by his side, Dante can withstand anything. The Santiago Trilogy is a must read, and an all time favorite of mine. Catherine Wiltcher has bewitched me and I will never be the same.

Amazing.
Suspenseful.
Hot.
Action-packed.
I LOVED this book. I LOVED this trilogy. I am so bummed that Eve and Dante's story has come to an end, but so thrilled that we can look for another book from this world this fall! The author has announced that Rick Sanders is getting his own book, and I couldn't be more excited! Well, unless Joseph gets his own book. THAT might get me more excited.
In any case, this book has it all. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what was going to happen next. Would they find Anna? Would she be alive? Can Petrov be trusted? How about Agent Peters? Would they solve the mystery of Isabella? I had so many questions, and thankfully got all of my answers.
I also loved the chemistry between Eve and Dante. He is so gruff- I just loved the bejesus out of it. And Eve, though well out of her comfort zone, really stands up to Dante. She has an impressive inner strength- she stood in the face of her fear, and stared it down. Nothing stopped her.
This the first series by this author, and I am so overly excited about it. I can't wait for more!

“We’re in the middle of a war and the whole world is a battlefield.”

Sexy, edgy, and full of suspense, Hearts on Fire by Catherine Wiltcher is a thrilling romance that will leave readers breathless. Wiltcher concludes this series with a bang, combining stellar writing with a captivating plot and an epic love story.

“My angel has fallen, and what a pretty sight it is to behold. She’s the queen of my fucking underworld now.”

I’ve been in love with Dante and Eve’s story since the first book released, and this is one of those rare series that gets better with each book. The fire that burns between these two characters has only gotten hotter and more intense. I love the push and pull that exists between them and I really enjoy how they both molded to fit the other. Dante is still as rough and powerful and obsessively possessive as ever, yielding only to the woman who owns his heart. Eve has grown and changed so much since Hearts in Darkness, no longer innocent but still a good person at heart. These two are the epitome of a power couple, and I loved everything about them.

“I love the bones of this man. I love the light that he fights so hard to repress. I love the dark that he unleashes to keep me safe.”

The storyline of Hearts on Fire was insanely good. The suspense and action were just as good as the romance, and everything blended together flawlessly. There was angst and emotion and humor. There were some fantastic twists and turns. We finally found answers that I was dying to get. While I was happy to finally get my hands on this book, I was so sad to say goodbye to these characters who I’ve grown to love. I am still really hoping that Joseph will get his own story, and I loved that we got more of his POV is this book. This series has easily become one of my top favorite ever, and that’s saying a lot because I am an avid reader. Bravo to Catherine Wiltcher for creating such a masterful series, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for her readers next.

BURN BABY BURN!

Hearts on Fire is dark, a little twisted and sexy. As Dante and Eve continue on their journey their love is stronger than before. Dante is still the alpha king and Eve is the strong queen that will bring him to his knees.

The war with the Russians is getting worse. There are leaks of betrayal. Who can you trust?

Eve is in the clutches of the FBI. Will she end up in prison? Will she turn against Dante?

Mystery and suspense that will keep you on your toes.

I hoped for a book for juicy Joseph, sleazy Rick and Roman.

Now this is a amazing way to end a trilogy. I loved Dante and Eve from the first time I read their story and their story just kept getting better. Got to see a look into Dante and Joseph’s past and where they began. Catherine kept the suspense, romance, and adventure going in this book. Now I really want Joseph’s story. You will not be disappointed with this trilogy.

All good things must come to an end.

Dante will forever leave a dark mark on my soul. His over-the-top alpha behavior is what gets me going and how I love my anti-heroes in a mafia romance book. This third installment brought me so much closure. First and foremost, we get the backstory to Dante and his secondhand man, and how their friendship started and grew over the years.

Eve's situation left me feeling sick to my stomach. The lies she was led to believe growing up have finally been unveiled and this sweet and selfless girl just keeps taking hit after hit.

J.F. Harding and Sarah Puckett warmed my heart with their wonderful narration. I love how they make every climatic scene so emotional and intense. So if you're thinking about picking this trilogy up, then have a whirl at the audiobooks. You won't be disappointed!

The Santiago Trilogy is a dark, riveting and delicious tale of love, loyalty and betrayal. So take a seat. Strap in and get ready for a quick getaway with some violent acts of crime in this sinfully hot romance!

What an extraordinary ending to the Santiago epic! This author has become true favorite and an automatic one click. She has clearly planned every step of this story until we finally see the end of the Dante Santiago 's chapter. I say chapter because there's no way he's going to stay as content as he is at the end of the book.

We pick up where book 2 ends. Santiago and crew are determined to cut down Sevastian Petrov's ring of kidnapped women. There are twists and turns, and alliances shift constantly. Even Santiago's friendship with Joseph Grayson is tested. We also get the background on Grayson's history with Santiago, who gives critical insight on this story and Dante Santiago 's mindset.

Dante Santiago is a fascinating character, and Wilcher writes him with no apologies. Even in the middle of chaos, he's the same arrogant, uptight, sexually aggressive alpha male that keeps everyone he cares about on a metaphorical leash. He says things like:

"I may be a monster but I'm not a total dick."

“You know how much killing turns me on, wife.”

“I stopped feeling.” He lets go of my chin and takes a step back, eyes burning bright. Feverishly. “But you’re like a power surge, my angel. You walked into my life and everything switched back on. Now I’m left dealing with the fall-out of thirty-eight years of bad living and immorality.”“Dante–”“I don't regret killing her as much as I should. As much as you’d like me to feel. Why? Because every life I’ve taken has led me one step closer to you.”

Eve continues to be Santiago 's center of gravity. She believes in him, even when he doesn't believe in himself:

'i haven't tamed Dante. I’ve made him feel. I’ve made him strive for something other than death. My hand drifts to my stomach again. If he comes back to me tonight , I’ll make him believe in life. "

The story ends with a bang and it's surprisingly content filled. Nothing is perfect in this life Dante and Eve decided to live, but it can be fruitful and positive. What's clear, though, is there is more to their story. There's no way Dante is going to stay so happy. I want more on Joseph Grayson. Spinoff?

I’m crying over here because this series is over. In this epic conclusion Dante and Eve are in a battle of a lifetime with the mob, and a backstabbing mole that deserves all the punishment he can get. This book is dark but is brilliantly written. I enjoyed the backstory into Dante’s and Joseph’s life and I can’t wait to read Joseph’s story. If you are looking for a fast pace suspenseful romance than this book is for you.

Ms. Wiltcher, writes and incredible witty dialogue. Her characters are well drawn and it’s clear as to the roles they play. Her plot thickens as each page is turned in the book. Her love of words makes her the best author I have read thus far! Well done on a remarkable series.

“I stopped feeling.” He lets go of my chin and takes a step back, eyes burning bright. Feverishly. “But you’re like a power surge, my angel. You walked into my life and everything switched back on. Now I’m left dealing with the fall-out of thirty-eight years of bad living and immorality.”

Catherine si riconferma con un stile fluido e accurato e senza troppi fronzoli ha creato una storia emozionante; è una persona speciale e i ringraziamenti a fine libro hanno dato la prova e mi hanno fatto scendere una lacrimuccia.

Wish I could give more than five stars. I have throughly enjoyed the world of Dante and Eve. The chemistry between them was combustible from book one. Two people who should not have been together the love they shared brought them from hell and back. The forces that tried to break them apart just made them stronger. His darkness to her light. I loved the way they completed each other. Beautiful story about two people who heal each other. The twists and turns are mind blowing and the ending is beautifully written. Thank you Catherine Wiltcher for your creativity and the Santiago’s .

Chyba najlepsza część serii. Było zdecydowanie dynamicznie i zaskakująco. Anioł nadal się buntował, a Diabeł nadal był uparty. Ale podobało mi się to, jak ostatecznie wrócił mu rozum do głowy.
