When photographer Autumn Season lands the job of official photographer at the prestigious Aloha Lagoon Resort, she's ecstatic. But a lively luau suddenly turns deadly, and Autumn realizes she may have accidentally snapped a picture of a murder in progress! Now the killer will go to any lengths to protect his (or her) identity, and Autumn is clearly in their sights. With the help of her best friend, super hottie, and head of the Aloha Lagoon Resort Security, Jimmy Toki, Autumn sets out to find the killer's identity before the killer finds her. What do stolen camera equipment, a bossy busty blonde, and a group of jealous surfers have to do with it all? Autumn isn't sure, but when another luau ends in another body, Aloha Lagoon might be headed for infamy instead of fame. If Autumn doesn't get to the bottom of it all soon, she may just be the next victim to wipe out!

"Readers cannot help but get lost in the story. I highly recommend reading this series so that you can return to Aloha Lagoon as often as possible."

When my friends were reading the Nancy Drew books, I was already hooked on the Grand Dame of Mysteries! Agatha Christie's books enthralled me, and following Hercule Poirot or Jane Marple as they solved mystery after mystery was my cup of tea.

It's no wonder that I write cozy mysteries myself now, and being retired from a two decades plus career as a high school and junior college English teacher gives me time to create more murder and mayhem...on paper, of course.

Photo Finished is a fun addition to the Aloha Lagoon series. The lovely setting of Hawaii makes a great backdrop for events, mystery and romance. Autumn Season, whose parents had a sense of humor naming their children, decided to leave her Midwest roots and pursue her dream of photography in Hawaii. She enjoys photographing surfers and hopes to make a break with an awesome action shot. Her best friend, Jimmy Toki, is head of security at the Aloha Lagoon Resort and gets Autumn a job as the photographer for a luau at the resort. It turned out to be a deadly night when one of the local surfers is found face down in a plate of poison sushi. It the panic of the situation, someone stole her camera, apparently thinking that she captured something incriminating. She is hired by the resort full time so Jimmy tries to keep an eye out for her but it isn't easy since she wants to investigate the murder and find her camera.
This is an enjoyable read watching the danger brings Autumn and Jimmy closer than friends. Autumn thinks that her hunky friend only thinks of her as a good friend when everyone else sees how it is. But there is something going on with the group of surfers and their sponsors but they just can't figure it out as the murders pile up before it is solved.
I received a complimentary ARC from Gemma Halliday Publisher. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

I love any time that I can get out of my head and travel to Aloha Lagoon Resort in Hawaii. I love that whatever book I pick up in this series is guaranteed to take me away.

Photo Finished by Dane McCaslin and Kimberly Griggs is the fourteenth book in this amazing series and readers cannot help but get lost in the story. Readers do not have to read these books in order as each book is written by a different author and focuses on different people and places around the Aloha Lagoon Resort on the island.

In Photo Finished you get an amazing murder case to follow and you get a hint of romance...... main character Autumn moved to the island from the Midwest to pursue her dream of surfing and photographing surfers. And thanks to her friend Jimmy, who is head of security at the Aloha Lagoon Resort she gets a job as a photographer and her first job is to take pictures of a luau. There is going to be a big surfing competition on the island soon and this luau is going to have professional surfers and sponsors at it. Unfortunately during the luau one of the surfers ends up dead in his plate of sushi and to make matters worse, while everything is happening, Autumn's camera is stolen.

It seems that whoever the killer is, they think that Autumn must have taken incriminating pictures of them so they had to steal her camera. This means that Autumn could be in danger if the killer thinks that she also saw them in the act. Who better to have your back than the head of security ? Autumn and Jimmy have been best friends even since she moved to the island and as you read this story you can see that they both want to take their relationship to the next level. But Autumn can't seem to get her head out of the murder investigation, even with Jimmy and Detective Ray Kahaolani continouously telling her to stay away from it !! Autumn feels like she needs to figure it out as well as find her camera. And when someone else asks for her help but ends up dead before she can find out what kinds of help they need, she becomes more determined than ever !!

All of the books in this series will have readers on the edge of their seat wishing they were right there along with whichever main character is in trouble. And the way that all of the authors create the scene for us is quite captivating .... I highly recommend reading this series so that you can return to Aloha Lagoon as often as possible.

Once again the reader is immersed in the Aloha Lagoon Resort and the world of luaus and luxury vacations. Focus in this book is on photographer Autumn Season who is a new hire by the resort. Her best friend Jimmy Toki is the head of security at the resort and plays a huge role in keeping Autumn safe when murder and mayhem strikes at a resort luau.

Unpopular surfboard business owners Derrik and Patti Stone have a stable of surfers working for them delivering "merchandise" including their line of surfboards. The first photography job Autumn has is taking pictures at a luau where she discovers first hand how rude the Stones really are. She meets their #1 surfer and his fiance as they get their pictures taken going to the event. After the guests are all at the party, Autumn spends a lot of time taking candid photos of everything and everyone involved with the evening. When a scream explodes, it is discovered that the #1 surfer will no longer be competing because he is dead with his face in his food! All the resort employees help to clear the area for the police, and Autumn also helps. She puts down her camera bag and begins herding shocked patrons to the resort to await police questioning. When she goes back to where she put her things, she finds the bag on a nearby table, but the camera is gone. All of her pictures are gone.

With the murder and the theft of the camera likely to be connected, Autumn sets out to solve the murder herself-not really giving the police detective a chance to do his job. Jimmy begs her to leave it to the police, but she can't. After two more grizzly murders, she still perseveres.

Nothing is ever straightforward in murder mysteries, or life. There are so many places to look, it begins to look like it is hopeless. One thing that isn't hopeless is a romance that is slowly blooming, making this violence take a back seat to love.

Well written with good characters-both new and old ones from other books. There are lots of shocks and surprises to be discovered while reading the book. The finished book fits in seamlessly with the other thirteen volumes about this wonderful slice of paradise which just happens to have too many murders that ruin the perfection of the location.

Autumn Season is a professional photographer who catches a break with a chance at becoming the full time photographer for the Aloha Lagoon's local resort.
On a trial run, Autumn is taking snaps of a luau event being sponsored by a small custom surfboard company who is trying to make it into the big leagues by sponsoring a surfing contest. The owners are snooty, and the wife is a cougar who doesn't care how she treats anyone. Therefore, no one likes her.

While at the luau, Autumn may have captured the person in the act without realizing it, when it's discovered that one of the surfing competitors, and also the favored to win is found with his face planted in his plate of sushi. He definitely will not be winning anymore competitions.

This was a fun story that was well written, and had a lot of humor woven throughout. It is a very nice edition to the Aloha Lagoon stories. although I had figured out the killer early on in the story, it was still a very enjoyable read, and although the authors played a little to the budding romance between the two main characters, it was not so much that it was a distraction from the story.

Photo Finished is the 14th book in the Aloha Lagoon series.
It's written by several different authors using a central location, and borrowing some of the characters for encore appearances to enhance the story line.

Autumn, a photographer, gets caught up in a mysterious death at her workplace when her camera is stolen. Determined to get it back, and also maybe discover what really happened, she takes it upon herself to investigate. This, naturally, is not well received.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I hadn't read any of the Aloha Lagoon series before but didn't feel lost at all. If the whole series is like this book, then I know I would enjoy them all! The characters are fun, and there's some humour and romance.

Love the latest addition to the Aloha Lagoon Mysteries series! Wonderful descriptions of the beautiful Hawaiian setting; kooky heroine; and great storyline. A little mystery, a little humor and a little romance make for a great cozy mystery!

I want to say I enjoyed this but the story focused too much on the possible love interest instead of the mystery, so much so that I nearly lost interest. The near misses were just annoying and not cute, in fact I just wished they would hurry up and get together so it could go back to the investigation. It also didn't help that I made my mind up who was responsible as soon as we were introduced to the character and was proved right, a little to cliche for me. Which is a same because when they weren't making googly eyes at each other I liked the characters. The plot idea was good but didn't quite pull it off for me. I love the location for this series and will join it again but will probably pick one wrote by a different author.
Autumn needs her big break as a photographer and she finally gets the opportunity when she is recommended by her best friend. Well sort of she would much rather photograph surfers on their boards, than guests arriving at a luau but if she does a good job she might get hired full time. Unfortunately one of the surfers dies during the feast and in all the commotion her camera is solen. Is the killer worried she caught something incriminating on film? The police and Aloha Lagoon Resort security has there hands full investigating a murder but Autumn just wants her camera back and if finding the camera means finding the killer so much the better. Then she doesn't have to life in fear of being the next victim.

Pictures Do Speak

This is a good addition to the series (Aloha Lagoon Mysteries). The nice thing is, you don’t have to have read the others in the series to know what’s going on. Each one stands alone. And yes, some characters may cross over, but there’s not one central character that carries the entire series.

In this one, Autumn Season (LOL on her name!) is a photographer who is hired to take pictures at a luau at the local resort where her best friend, Jimmy Toki is head of security. When a murder occurs at the luau and her camera is stolen, Autumn (aka Red because of her red hair) becomes a target.

There’s a lot going on in this story - drugs, smuggling, murder, and more. And there are a lot of suspects. But when someone tries several times to kill Red, Jimmy has her back. So there is a bit of a romance in with the mystery here. And a HEA that satisfies both the romantic part and the whodunnit. Plus, it’s set on the island of Kauai, so beautiful scenery to go along with the action.

Recommended.

Autumn Season is a photographer from the Midwest with hopes of getting hired as the official photographer at Aloha Lagoon Resort and possibly the doorway into photographing the elite surfer world. To achieve her goal Autumn needs to first prove her worth by taking photos of surfers and their sponsors at the resort's luau in support of an upcoming surfing competition. One of the surfers has been found facedown in his sushi, murdered by ingesting sushi made from extremely poisonous fugu (pufferfish). Autumn's non-digital film camera has been stolen, most likely by the murderer. She may have inadvertently photographed the identity of the murderer. With her residential information on the camera, she now believes the murderer is out to get her because of what she has unwittingly witnessed during her picture-taking.

I enjoyed the main characters, the secondary characters, the atmosphere and how the mystery was solved. There is a touch of romance with the main character and one of the canon characters in the series.

Presumably, this is the last book in the Aloha Lagoon mystery series, each book written by a different author. I hope there will be more in the series with Autumn and I really enjoyed her character. I have read most of the books in the series and this one is just as well written as the others. Both authors in this co-authored book are new to me but I hope to read more of their books.

I received an ARC from the publisher for purposes of an unbiased review.

Autumn finally gets the ideal job she’s been dreaming about as photographer for the Aloha Lagoon resort. As she prepares to photograph the upcoming surfing contest, she attends the traditional luau to honor the surfing champions from last year’s competitions. Of course, she taking photos of the luau and guests when someone is murdered. Next thing she knows her camera disappears and she figures she must have caught the killer on film! All the rest of her equipment is untouched and only the camera is missing. Things get quite exciting as she tries to figure out the answers, with handsome Jimmy Toki trying desperately to keep her safe! I loved this book, and had only read one or two of the others in this series before, but it stands fine on its own!

I wouldn’t class this a a cozy mystery but neither is it a thriller! Somewhere between the two! I just had to finish it before I could relax & think of other things to do! Autumn is a photographer who is trying to specialise in surfing photos. She is hired to take photos for the Aloha Lagoon Resort’s luau one evening & a murder happens & her camera is stolen. She is warned by the police to take care, as she may have taken a photo of the murderer doing their dirty deed. Her best friend is a security guard there, Jimmy. He takes the warning very seriously indeed. Then an arson attack means the big surf championship has to find a new home & the resort is chosen. Then another murder & lots of other odd things happen. In the end it all works out.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, or to catch a killer who then steals the camera to take the evidence away. A surfing competition is supposed to be exciting not deadly but one by one the surfers are being killed and their friend. Autumn and Jimmy work hard to track down the killer and retrieve the missing camera with lots of excitement along the way. And a surprise reveal that completely blew me away - I didn't even suspect them. If you like mysteries, you're going to love this book.

This is a very cozy murder mystery.

The characters are a bit simplistic and way too interested in does he or does she like me.

The plot is very entertaining.

I was supposed to be a character in the book but my scenes must have been cut out because I did not see me...alas.

I bought a copy since my library did not own one.

love a good mystery and love story

This is a good mystery and I should have guessed the killer but I didn’t right away. Hawaii is my happy place so I could “see” the places that they went to. If you like a good mystery this is for you.

Red never stopped looking for the killer. Stupid on her part but still an interesting story. Twist at end but not really unsuspected.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my unbiased review.
Autumn is looking for a steady gig as a photographer. She is asked last minute by her friend to photograph resort guests and patrons as they arrive to an event at the Aloha lagoon Resort for a surfing company sponsored event. This event could lead to a full time job at the resort as their official photographer. Later at the event, someone winds up dead. Unable to just sit back and let it go, Autumn investigates the death along with her friend Jimmy. Romance, mystery, Hawaii - I love this series. What is great is that you do not need to read the books in order, BUT, where's the fun in that. I've read this series in order from book one and each book is so unique and different while keeping the Aloha Lagoon theme and characters.

Although the books in the Aloha Lagoon Series do well as stand-alones, you can pick up any book at any time and enjoy the series immensely. You won't be disappointed with ANY of them. No spoilers in my reviews, just know that this one, Photo Finished is no exception. Murder and mystery abound, this story has a little romance, a lot of humor and just the right amount of mayhem that a great story must contain keep you engaged. You just won't want to put it down. A photographer's pictures may inadvertently hold the answer to the most recent trouble in this popular resort with business owners and visitors that you'll both love to love and love to hate, both new ones and ones that recur from other books in the series. One Click right now, grab a cool drink and check in to the resort! You won't be sorry!

Did she capture the killer on film? Autumn intends to find out! What follows is a lively and fun mystery with many twists that will keep you guessing until the very end, not only about the identity of the killer, but also whether the hunky security guard at Aloha Lagoon is falling for Autumn.

There’s another murder in Aloha Lagoon! I really enjoy this series and this latest book is no exception. Autumn is a professional photographer hoping to get a permanent position at Aloha Lagoon. Her best friend Jimmy is the head of security at the resort. While taking photos at a surfing event at the resort, a murder occurs and Autumn’s camera is stolen. The murderer must not know she doesn’t have her camera as her life becomes endangered. There is the usual cast of quirky characters that I found very entertaining.

This is a book that once you start reading you won't want to put it down, it's very well written, entertaining and the mystery keeps you guessing and questioning who the killer is. I really enjoy the Aloha Lagoon series. Even though the books are wrote by different authors they keep characters from previous books and they are all very good. If you enjoy a good cozy mystery don't pass this up!

I hope to one day visit Hawaii, but until then I will live through the awesome characters in the Aloha Lagoon Mysteries Series. Each book is written by different authors and I have discovered a few new authors this way. It also helps to keep the series interesting to have different writing styles and characters. I look forward to the next book.

Autumn Season (yes, that is her real name) is excited for the chance to get a full-time photography job at the Aloha Lagoon Resort. But did she accidentally take a photo of a murder in the works? This is a wonderful story and I love the murder portion as much as I enjoyed the romance.
