4.5⭐️ whewwww buddy! lol

We were introduced to Juice in the 1st book of the series Mahogany. He's Mahogany's manager. This was a second chance romance between Juice & his girl Tia that's been down with him before the riches. He does a lot of F'd up shit to her & she finally had enough of him and left him. It was a lot of back and forth between the two. Like a damn entanglement because Juice has a new girl. Ending was rushed again but I was fine with that.

3.5 Stars!

I couldn’t stop reading it even though I can’t say I particularly liked the characters. This would have been at least 4-5 stars for me if not for the rushed ending. After the author dragged us through every piece of emotional mud available for both Juice and Tia, for her to kind of not let us know how they got to reconciliation was not fair. The gulf between what she had teased out around Tia’s allegedly final reason not to be an adjunct in Juice’s life (she had had several final reasons before throughout the book) and us having that epilogue was too much. I understand leaving things to the audience to piece together but too much was left after being tediously taken through all their drama, it wasn’t balanced.

If you thought Porter and Mahogany were imperfect in book 1, you haven’t met Juice and Tia. Initially, Tia seems like the sympathetic character who has been true a lifetime of trauma compounded by a toxic relationship with the lohl, Juice, who claims to love her but clearly does not, not because he doesn’t want to but obviously because he can’t as he’s not mentally ready to. But there’s no moving on from their toxicity, not from Juice’s selfish standpoint nor from Tia’s perspective even though intellectually she knows better and she makes several decisions to do better for herself. I honestly found their back and forth exhausting and really wanted Tia to remove herself from it but she kept going back even after she pieced herself back together and was on her journey to healing.

I can’t say I enjoyed this but I don’t think that’s the point of this romance. This is my second book by this author and my takeaway so far is this is an author that wants to right real, imperfect people and focus on their brokenness and healing rather than the love and light. Which is fine and brings a real weightiness (and heaviness) to the stories she’s telling. They’re not really romances in the end, because even though they’re relationship-based and spicy, the love story to me feels like an add on, they’re more stories of healing.

Better than Good

There is so much that I can say about this book! This book should've been called Tia because she was the real M.V.P. Tia is me and I am her. The dedication to this book alone took me out and I knew that Nako was not going to disappoint!! Tia loved her self enough to walk away but she loved so much that she allowed Juice to have a key to her heart when he wasn't worthy of her love. Faizzah only loved him because of what he could provide. I thoroughly enjoyed this book but I didn't appreciate the tears(mine). It is always pleasant to read a book where the author has done due diligence and you can see growth in the characters. I can't wait for the next installment!

A Real Life Real Love Story 💙

Great story, great characters. I adored all the cameos from some of our favorites. If you don't learn something about yourself and valuing who that is from this book, read it again. One of the best books Nako has written. Periodt!!

“Good boys ain’t no fun, LORD knows I should run off with the right one…”

Jamari “Juice” McAfee, the bad boy that has the swag, the looks, the money, the reputation, and let’s say he’s as smooth as silk and addictive as that habit you swear off on New Year’s Eve religiously. Jamari manages the prominent and prized Mahogany, the latest and GOAT in this season, so let’s say he’s that dude and he knows it. Then there’s Tia…Tia DiCaille, his most valuable asset, that he sometimes forgets and takes for granted…how many times. Their love for each other is durable, when they are together, despite his secrets that keep popping up. Mind you that Tia has goals besides loving her man, she’s finishing college, with no financial worries because her dude got that bag baby, right?

When the rug is pulled, the curtains have closed, the lights have dimmed, and love is humming the most climatic concerto, can two truly become one, or will the remaining credits disclose the deepest divide that stirs an irreparable rift? Who wants to be good, when being bad is so much more fun? Who said that love conquers all, does their credentials really validate this fantasy? Juice has that sauce, but Tia ain’t feeling his flavor, so take a seat and watch the show as we see if Juice knows how to season love with all his ploys? Take a moment to see if Tia has the strength to find a good boy and sing a song that says that Good Boys Are Fun! Once again, Nako has penned a full-fledged novel complete with authentic characters, infused with pragmatic instances that will push, pull and irk your jerk in this hypnotic read. Of course, she waved her magical pen, but I’m only giving it 4*** because the relationship issues became repetitious and lost its luster. Her natural giftings are prevalent and commendable, but I suggest shortening some of the replayed situations. I also noted a few grammar issues, although they were not a distraction…this author has greatness in her, just needs to iron out a few wrinkles. I also vibrantly applaud her for her consistency in depicting the realism of the spiritual into her reads! Nako, keep striving for the pinnacle, you’re there Sis, just walk in it!!! 4.38**** #ThatzTazzyezTake

Nako is a great writer and she did say she was going through some things when she wrote this book. But I feel a bit depressed after reading it.

This is the first time that I didn’t want the lead character to win. I did not want Juice to have a happy ending. I live for a good, happy epilogue with weddings and babies but this time I did not want Juice to have that with Tia. He did not deserve her.

Tia loved Juice more than she loved her self. It felt at times like emotional abuse, especially when Juice was telling her she had to accept his children that he had during their relationship. But at the same time he was upset that Tia had a ‘relationship’ with someone else. I doubt if Tia had that baby with Coop, Juice would have wanted her back.

Tia lost all self respect as she just kept forgiving and going back to Juice when he never put her first, chose her or did any work to prove that he had changed.

I wanted Tia to move on and find love with someone who put her first every time. I wanted this for all women who have taken back cheating men multiple times and lost like she did. When should you REALLY give up and bow out gracefully? For Tia, it should have been after baby 1 in my view.

Granted, Tia and Juice first got together when they were young and had a lot of growing to do. But when they did find each other the second time and third, Juice still was not ready. He was too selfish to let Tia really go. He didn’t care enough to wear protection with his groupies.

It was good to catch up with P and Mahogany. Although it felt at times that Mahogany had become a bit of a spoiled brat. And….did the great P step out on her? It wasn’t too clear. Still love a bit of P though.

Ending this review with a heavy heart.

Going sisters in the Delta Sorority and a new home in Houston, Texas. Juice is stalking her through Mahogany’s page and slowly trying to see where he can fit into her life. Coop has been in love with Tia since they met; however, he cannot get past the friend zone. A few years have past, Juice has converted religions, nam and has a fiancé Faaizah but that question about his love for Tia never waivers. Tia arrives back in his life just as she is about to graduate and Juice cannot let her go. Juice now has 3 kids, 3 baby mommas and a fiancé and at the alter he calls Tia’s name. I don’t know how to feel….
It was no doubt a good book. I thought Juice was going to be more likeable based on his appearance in Mahogany. However, my initial thoughts reading this book were Juice is an a-hole. He did not deserve Faai or Tia. I loved the strength of Tia’s character on some levels, but Juice was definitely her weakness. Tia deserved so much more than what Juice had to offer. I can empathize, at some point we all play the fool, but she just kept being this man’s play toy. I think Juice truly did love her, but had no idea how to love her or anyone for that matter (maybe his mama). I’m glad he sought the help he needed, but I’m still feeling some kind of way about a lot of his actions throughout the book. And poor Faai was delusional, but Juice contributed to that facade. I hope she gets her HEA.

Mahogany and Port were tripping, despite how Juice handled his personal life, he didn’t falter businesswise.

I see Carmen’s story is up next, but Chanda seems like she has a lot going on that would make for a good story. I would definitely be interested in reading more about her.

We were introduced to Jamari "Juice" McAfee in Mahogany, the first book of the Love Drought series. Not only is he her manager, but also one of her best friends. Darn near a perfectionist in the business, his personal life leaves a lot to be desired. He can't stop cheating on his live in girlfriend, Tia and is an absent father to his children.

When Tia refuses to put up with the disrespect, she becomes her main focus, which includes a new city, new friends, and new interests. But, somehow, she can't stop thinking about Juice…and vice versa.

I loved everything about this book by @xoxonako except, Faaizah's insecure behind. Throughout this book, we get a front row seat to the transformation of several characters, starting with Jihad. The person that we were introduced to in the beginning fought hard to right his wrongs, and it paid off in the end. My favorite character goes to Tia. I may not have agreed with everything she did, but she stood her ground in all of the obstacles in her way. Now, it's no surprise that Faaizah was my least favorite character. In my opinion, she was doing way to much to hold on to a man that was clearly in love with someone else.

Tia loved Juice hard!

This was a great urban love story. I couldn’t love Juice as Tia did, but my motto is never say never! He put her through hell and back each time he popped up, she loved him harder when she was going through her own battles. So I loved her for staying strong in the book and gave her all 💯% thru their journey. He never had that loyalty with his fiancée who claimed to love him, they were just comfortable with each other and afraid to step out on faith to explore the truth of really having nothing but emptiness. Juice had to finally realized he needed to grow himself to get Tia back and it worked out. So the old saying is “ if it’s meant to be the love of your life will come back to you”!

So Nako put together and awesome love story that kept me in suspense from beginning to the end! I could say so much more but she knows she puts her all into writing books and does a fantastic job creating a number one each time. I will always remain a fan of Nako she’s the best author in my eyes.

Whew

If you’re not prepared to be honest with yourself do not read this. All though this is fiction there are soo many gems that have been dropped you can’t help but be like wow. Tia Tia Tia ....your pain i felt it, i wallowed in it deep within my soul. But sis every time you picked yourself up and came back harder and harder and went after everything that was yours for the taking I rejoiced in it screaming YASSS! I love that Tia was surrounded by a true circle of friends and the cameo of THE Freedom Anderson. Now Juice SMH i felt your pain and i felt your love for all those around you friends and family included. You had a lot of growing up to do even when you thought you were grown. Yet that’s life we are constantly evolving as human beings but the foundation of ALL relationships with anyone should be built on respect, trust, loyalty, and honesty and those things should begin with the relationship you share with yourself. Byee Mahogany!

FIYAH 🔥

This book is sooooooo freakin relatable! I’m a woman that’s has loved, been through the bull, thought I stop loving & love this crazy man again. In other words I have been in Tia shoes before! Tia is a flower that’s grows, dies then comes back to life. One part of the book I wanted to stop reading I was so ready to through my Kindle across the room like Whyyyyyyyyy Tia she goes through so much I was unsure if she would get her happen ending 🤦🏼‍♀️ now Juice I can slap him in almost every chapter 🤣 he gets on my damn nerves! Like look Juice no one is this damn irresponsible & stupid but some men are. I’m so glad Juice end up winning in the end...Idk if me & Mahogany would’ve been the best of friends again after the stunt she pulled she was liking like she was pregnant again 🤔 Nako always leaves you wondering lol. The one thing I would’ve like to more about was Coop, he seems such a mystery....until we meet again ✌🏽

EXCELLENT

This story was so relatable on many levels. I enjoyed reading. When you love someone and they are your everything, what do you do after being betrayed time after time. That's what Tia's dilemma was when dealing with Juice until she finally decided she had enough. Juice felt that Tia would always be by his side no matter what not realizing when a woman is fed up there is no coming back from the hurt. What I love about this book is we get the hurt that is felt through Tia, how she takes charge of her life and although her heart is still with Juice she shows him that she refuses to put up with his games. It took continuous disappointment on Juices part for him to finally decide he needed his girl back and he has to get his act together to make things right. I was glad they both got their happy ending. Very well written story, great storyline and character development.

Great Story

I loved Juice's story. I thought he was confused because he claimed to love his wife Faa but they had nothing in common. All through the story, he kept chasing behind Tia but wouldn't commit to her. I was proud of his growth business wise. Juice had a lot going on in his personal life but was a work in progress. I was also glad when he stopped managing Mahogany. She turned into a diva. Girl was getting on my nerves. I like how the Author has gotten more spiritual in this series. It works with these characters. Overall, I'm feeling The Love Drought Series and am looking forward to reading about Carmen. We keep hearing about her and Teka but I don't recall them from any of the other stories. I would also like to hear more about Coop. How did he and Tia meet and how did she not know what he was into? This book really held my interest and I feel like I know these people. It was a good read.

Wonderful

I fell in love with Juice in Mahogany's book. I fell out of love with Juice when he wouldn't give Tia the money for her last year of school. I fell back in love with him at the end of the book.😍 I loved me so Tia. She was such a good and strong woman, but she needed to separate from Juice so that they could both grow. She should have never told Coop about the baby. She should have taken that secret to the grave. I don't care what religion that Faaizah studied, she was evil and jealous of Tia. She was a liar and she knew that Juice didn't love her.
Porter did change in this book, for the better. Mahogany changes for the worse. I don't know what her reasoning was behind doing Juice wrong, but I am glad she did so he could grow. She don't know how hard he was rooting for her. You did a wonderful job. I was so emotional reading this book. I have been Tia before. I truly understand. Thank you so much. Wonderful job.😘😘

May have to move on from author

When I first starting reading authors book I was completely enthralled and captivated. However the last few books have just been off to me and I can’t get through them. It as if there is no growth with the author although books have taken another direction her books are lacking passion and fire. I know she may be going through things in her personal life that she has always taken lessons and put in her books but this one was just the worse. Tia was NOT a strong woman but someone who put with entirely to much BS! There was no inspiration from her that Nako usual tries in female characters in her books. Juice was a DOG and the whole “happy ending “ thing SMH Chemistry was lack and just over all the character developing was void. Probably won’t read another book but I pray the author writing gets back to the caliber it once was.

Amazing

I know that I say this a lot with Nako’s books, but this book was super dope and I loved every page. With all of her books I took my time like a greatly prepared meal I didn’t want to rush through it I wanted to savor every page.

I love Tia loving someone is hard at times loving yourself can be harder when you put the person over yourself. Tia finally saw that she wasn’t getting what she needed that Juice wasn’t pouring into her like she was into him.
Juice realize almost to late that Tia was his one all the time. He was with a women who didn’t fit his life or in my option truly love the man he was. She didn’t ask question about his dreams or goals. She seemed to only care about what she wanted period.

I’m glad they got the ended they wanted and deserved

I highly recommend this book it was fire indeed!!!

I was feeling this book until I hit the 60% mark. Then, I started to get annoyed.. Tia started doing stupid shit that made her end up being Juice's side chick. Where they do that at? How you go from being the main chick to the side chick? Juice was still moving the same after they reconnected. He was still a cheater, except he only cheated with Tia. He was still a dead beat dad up until 75% of the book. All I could do was shake my head. After she got rid of him the 2nd time I was like OK finally girl, move the fuck on. Only to turn the page and its the epilogue. These fools got back together for a 3rd time but was married. HOW?? I guess 3rd time's a charm or...or.. Tia is just stupid. At least the lil snippet we got was of Juice finally on his grown man shit. Would've liked to have seen that more.

Love Juice and Tia’s imperfect love

I was so plugged in and worried for them the entire book. First I thought Juice was gonna turn out to be the Nasir King type, but as the story progressed I understood him and the situation and may have made a lot of the same mistakes even as a woman, if I were in those shoes. Nako has such a way of portraying the complexities of men and relationships. It’s hardly ever as black and white as we think it should be. Men can be complex. They aren’t a monolith and that can be forgotten. Nako does a very good job of showing that with all of her male characters having a different place on the spectrum of “good” to “bad”. Sometimes (maybe rare lol), they really do grow up to be genuine.

Full circle

I had to repeatedly remind myself that I liked Juice in the 1st book! Man he was really hurting me the way he was hurting Tia. On the other hand it was equally clear that he loved her tremendously. The constantly choosing others over her drove me mad. I loved Tia and her tribe. Tia absolutely drove me insane with how many chances she gave him. I can’t even say she was weak or naive because she was really the opposite. She was strong and chose herself time and time again. I think the back and forth really shows how in life we have to continuously choose joy! I related to these characters and how they dealt with life’s lows with scripture and affirmation and showing raw emotions! Great series!

RANTING

Honestly, I was mad at Tia and I still am. I feel like Juice continuously shitted on her and she’d leave him alone just to go back. Putting her love life on pause. Waited YEARS for him to get right and even then the damage was done. It’s so common for a woman to wait on a man to become a better him while we wait around for it, no matter the pain they put you through. Whew, I’m not in the business of raising men!!!!

I would’ve preferred Coop, someone who loved her unconditionally but had a bad path career wise, now that’s something she could’ve worked through as long as he didn’t ask her to slang crack lmao!!!

But like she said, if she likes it I love it. I’m just glad she got what she’d been waiting and praying for.

Wow

Nako is truly an author that is wise beyond her years. I absolutely loved this story as well as each character’s growth. I read Mahogany and I must say she truly disappointed me in this book. However, I loved Tia. She was almost transparent with her emotions and watching her remember her value, despite how many times she had to step back and reset, was beautiful. I really expected more from Juice but he continuously disappointed me and himself too. Thankfully, he finally grew from a boy to a man. Great story written very well. In addition to that, Nako shares so much knowledge. The importance of pouring into yourself, staying committed, investing... all things that everyone needs to know outside of of fiction. For sure a five-star read.

Whew 😳😳😳😳

Omg this series was very very interesting; it shows how much loyalty and love Tia had no matter what it also showed through her trials and tribulations she still came out on top. Juice wanted to succeed like so many men but he also thought money could keep him happy Faii has a story to tell I feel like it's more to her she wanted the best for Juice but after a while she felt like he didnt care so she didnt. It felt like she didnt have her own identity she lived for her parents and followed their foot steps like so many ppl do and I'm so glad juice and ppl talk about depression bc it's so taboo or looked as if u are crazy; cant wait for part 3

Just okay

Let’s see where do I start. Tia loved juice hard who was not deserving of her. 3 kids while they was together was just a little to much. The way he left her hanging while she was in school when the other woman told him to was absurd. As a strong black woman she should’ve parted a long time ago and left him in the past. I think coop would’ve made a great man for her. Just goes to show how he was there and juice wasn’t but juice ended up with the happily ever after. Juice wife wasn’t bad she was a homemaker ready and willing to serve him & after the accident she wasn’t the same and neither was him. Wasn’t the best book but wasn’t bad. Read for yourself.
