Chasing Butterflies #2

CATCHING FIREFLIES: A touching, heartbreaking raw story about second chance love.
As soon as I started Chance and Brie's story I fell in love with these two. As soon as Chance saw Brie he wanted to claim her as his they both just really craved, wanted, needed that one, and when that one came along neither of them really knew what to do with it.

Watch it all fall apart, only to be slowly put back together again better than the old version of themselves.

Then the story jumps to "two years later"

Both have been hurt beyond measure.

Chance isn't fully what I expected, a big shot on campus, the gorgeous hot shot football player with females dying for his attention, screams player right?? But he's nothing like that, he's had some growing up to do what with an alcoholic father and a mother who walked out on them when he was younger, a past girl friend who betrayed him and threw his heart away in the process.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I want your light to shine again, I want a second chance. But I'm not dumb enough to believe I've earned it yet.

I found his character to be sweet, loyal, and knew what he wanted and chased it with both hands. He wears his heart on his sleeve.

Brie was a tough cookie to crack, full of insecurities, smart and scared to share a little piece of herself, raised in a family of high achievers, crack that shell of hers and you'll find a sweet, feisty female.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I didn't want to fall for him again. It had been a long time until I climbed out of the hole his departure from my life had created.

Put these two characters together and it just worked, they sizzled, the chemistry, the feels, the heartbreak but in the end will love conquer all??

If you haven't read Chasing Butterflies I highly recommend it, but if you haven't this can be read as a complete standalone.

4 Super Sweet Stars

I really enjoyed this sweet, second chance romance!! I'm not one to read a lot of new adult books however, the characters in this one won me over! The story flowed nicely with little angst! We have Chance who is a small town boy who has grown up in a less than privileged lifestyle, who wins your heart over with all his charm! One thing I found that was very refreshing was that Brie wasn't physically "perfect"! She was strong and smart but she also had her moments of insecurities, that Chance helped her through! If your looking for a sweet story to cozy up on your couch with or read on the beach...this one's for you! ❤️

“And what if I plan on waiting to have sex until I get married?” “Then I’ll be waiting until you marry me.”

~~4.75 CATCHING FIREFLIES STARS~~

You meet Chance in Chasing Butterflies. He was Kelley's best friend and he proved himself worthy of his own book. Chance got his heart broken and when college presented girls that threw themselves at him with little to no effort he thought having a girlfriend wasn't what he wanted.

Brie has a lot of insecurities. She thinks she's not "model" beautiful. She has curves and she's not confident of herself. Her parent's expectation of her were pretty high. She's a virgin and doesn't want to give it up to any guy.

Trust was an issue between Chance and Brie. Brie gave Chance a chance (LOL) but he ran and as a result, bruised Brie's feelings. Chance was such a great guy. He loved his father even though he was more like the parent in the relationship he tried to make his father proud. Weak never crossed my mind when I thought of Chance. He was loyal and a great friend and a romantic. He made the best with the cards that he was dealt and that made him a man worthy of anything in my books.

3.5 Super Sweet Stars!!!

This was overall a super sweet read, I keep going back and forth on my rating for this book because honestly I’m not sure how I feel about it. Catching Fireflies is Book #2 in the Catching Butterflies series. I read Chasing Butterflies a few months ago and absolutely loved it. It was a little darker NA than I’m used to reading, which I loved. I felt like it was deeper and gave me a lot of feels. If you haven’t read it, I absolutely recommend it. So, if you’ve read Chasing Butterflies, you’ve been introduced to the main characters in Catching Fireflies, Brie, who is Lenora’s best friend and Chance, who is Kelley’s best friend. But if you haven’t read Chasing Butterflies, this could be read as a stand-alone, although I still think you should read Book 1.

cf-smug

Anyway, beck to Chance and Brie. Chance is a college football player that has had a rough time growing up, alcoholic dad, absent mom, but he hasn’t let that deter you from having goals and ambition in life. While in college, he meets Brie. She comes from a wealthy family but seems to have serious self-esteem issues. Brie and Chances are instantly attracted to each other but Chance breaks her heart. The story then picks up 2 years later and Brie and Chance are forced to reconnect and deal with their feelings. Chance does a lot of the chasing and boy does he redeems himself!

cf-kiss-1

The story had a lot of parallels with Chasing Butterflies. Some of the events happen at the same time as CB, and Kelley and Chance are pretty similar characters. I will say that Terri writes amazingly swoony heroes. Just like I loved Kelley in CB, I loved Chance here. He definitely saved the book for him, such an amazing hero. Loved him. Unfortunately, I didn’t love Brie as much. She’s the man reason for my rating. She was so frustrating most of the time, although I can definitely identify with her self-esteem issues, I couldn’t comprehend some of her decisions and the way she acted towards Chance. Regardless, there are some awesome interactions between them, and some sweet and very hot scenes.

cf-love

I do love that these books are a little on the heavy/darker side for NA books. Oh, and I have to say, I’m super intrigued by Sawyer and Ashton and whatever is going on there. I’m shipping them hard so I hope the next book in this series is MM, there I said it! Even though I definitely enjoyed this one I felt like something was kinda missing. But then again, it could be just me and not the book. I definitely recommend this one, and Chasing Butterflies if you’re looking for some heavier NA books

This series is sooooo good!! Chance and Brie are a unique couple. They find each other but let each other go. A bad situation opens their eyes they can't stop falling for each other even when they both try. The title of the story fits perfect in this heart wrenching Love story.

This book was unlike anything I've ever read before but have. I know it makes no sense. Just bear with me. It was a bit like deja vu but not.

Glad I could make it clearer for you. LMAO. It's just that it had familiar themes but the author made them her own. Get it? I hope so lol. It dealt with love, broken hearts, betrayal, addiction, abandonment, death, family, friends, and even the college experience.

Chance had his heart broken senior year of high school by his long-term steady girlfriend. He then swore off relationships in order to protect his little heart. That was until Brie blindsided him, but his fear of hurt was far too great and he sabotaged what could have been. Fast forward two years later and Chance is begging for Brie to take another "chance" on him.

Now for the part I always hate. Detailing what I didn't like about the book. Gah! Okay, so my biggest issue was time. Time would elapse with no explanation. There'd be a brief summary of the major events that happened during this unseen period of time, but I was still lost. That "brief" explanation wasn't enough for me. Add to that the existing stories between the side characters and I feel that I needed to read the first book first. So take my foolish advice, do not read this as a standalone unless you can deal with this.

However, I really do believe that this was the case of just me. So take my advice with a grain of salt.

Overall, these young'uns gave me a great story and I wonder what will be next for this series.

I am a sucker for second chance love stories and this Chance stole my heart from the first chapter. To steal a line- he had me at hello- and kept me the entire book. And this story had it all-- it was emotionally driven with the perfect amount of angst and softness. I adored both characters and loved each of their story arcs. If you're a fan of second chance love stories with a little heat and a lot of swoon-worthy moments, then this book is for you. Btw, I loved Chasing Butterflies, but this one, hands down, is my favorite of the two.

3.5 “Fireflies” Stars.

Catching Fireflies is the second book in the Chasing Butterflies series. It can be read as a STANDALONE.

With a battered heart, Chance Abbot leave his dad and his past to start a new chapter in life at Layton University. After a bad breakup, he decides to stay away from any kind of relationship, but then he meets Brie and his resolution starts to falter.

Brie Holloway is smart, beautiful and innocent. Girlfriend material. She falls for Chance right away and I can’t blame her, he always knew the right things to say… a natural born charmer.

They share a brief kind of relationship, but chance’s insecurities and desire to spread his wings made him broke Brie’s heart.

2 years has passed and now he is done fooling himself. He wants her back. The problem is that she has started dating another guy.

Will Chance prove that he is worthy of a second chance?

This was my first Terri E. Laine’s book and I really enjoyed it. I adored Chance, he was perfect in every single way. I really wanted to be his firefly just for him to catch me. LOL! Brie on the other hand, annoyed the heck out of me. I didn't like how she handle some situations. I know she was young but I consider that some of her actions were a bit childish. The plot was a little overused but I think the author took it and made it hers with the help of her sweet & sexy writing style. But still, I finished the book with the sensation that something was missing. I enjoyed the story but there were some moments that felt a little flat and that made me rest some brownie points to the story.

Overall, I did enjoy it and I would recommend it to the fans of second chance romances.

Catching Fireflies is a sweet, enjoyable, sexy story that I refused to put down I needed to know what will happen... Be ready because Chance Abbot will melt your heart with her sweet words. So if you enjoy romance, swexy couples, friendship and family, then you need to be reading this book.

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

description

Chance's woman goes to extreme measures to surprising him, it's quite obviously Chance appreciates Brie's efforts, "I had my *** in the air and head in the oven when Chance walked in. “Damn, I’m really hungry now,” he said." I really loved this book, Chance was such an awesome guy.

4.5⭐

~ 4.5 Firefly Stars ~

Well Terri E Laine did it again!!! I loved this book almost as much as the first book. I devoured this book and had a really hard time putting it down. Terri has a forever fan in this reader :)

Catching Fireflies is the next standalone novel in her interconnected standalone books in the Chasing Butterflies Series. This book was just as emotional as the first book. I was a little nervous going into this book because after reading the blurb I was afraid this was going to be a love triangle, and I really don’t like those. I will warn you…..yes she does touch on a love triangle, but not in the normal sense. I really can’t say too much because that would be a spoiler to that storyline, but just know if you aren’t a fan of triangles, don’t let that stop you from reading this fabulous book.

Terri does again tackle some tough subjects in this book, such as alcoholism and abandonment. But just like in the first book, I thought Terri handle these topics with tact and grace. I thought the writing of this book was fantastic. Terri knows just how to give us enough information in her stories without making us feel we are missing something, but not an over abundance to slow the story down. Her flow and pacing are always spot on!!!

Catching Fireflies is a second chance love story between Chance and Brie. In the start of the book these characters are just starting out as freshman in college. When they meet at a bonfire after a football game, they hit it off right away. Coming from different financial backgrounds, they found each other a refreshing change of pace. But Chance has some fears of commitment because of a betrayal in high school with his long time girlfriend. This in turns makes Chance make some dumb decisions and Chance and Brie lose contact. Fast Forward 2 years and they are reconnected, but Brie is seeing someone. Will Chance and Brie ever get on the same page?? Will Brie every be able to forgive Chance for walking away 2 years ago and give him another chance?? Follow them on their journey in Catching Fireflies to get those answers.

We do see Kelley and Lenny (Lenora) from the first book in this story, but this isn’t a sequel to that book. This story actually runs parallel to that book. So I don’t feel Chasing Butterflies needs to be read first, but these are both such amazing books, you really will want to read both of them!!!

So as you can tell I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of a New Adult College based story that is a second chance love story. I never feel like my reviews do the book justice. Honestly it is probably just better for you to read the book and experience the characters and emotions for yourself. You won’t be sorry!!!!

This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites; it excites me because I don't know her books well enough to know what to expect and she delivers amazing work every time! I was blown away by Catching Butterflies and after reading Catching Fireflies I was left in awe because of the choices that were taken throughout the book. I love second chance books and this book was filled with second chances or missed chances and Chance the sexy football player who was burned at an early age. Chance was raised by his dad, who himself was burned by his wife and lives with it everyday. After reading that I was left devastated because I knew that Chance would believe all woman to be as is mother was, a runner. Luckily he met the love of his life in high school...or so he thought.

Brie was a young girl who was raised by doctors and she knew she had to deliver the best in everything she did, even boys. Brie meets an incredible guy but the butterflies she felt quickly fell away when she told him something about herself that made him change his mind about their relationship. After one phone call could all that change the past and rekindle what felt right?

Like I said, I am a major fan of second chances and this book had me swooning and holding my husband tight with the love flowing through me. I have read quite a lot of endings and I have to say that this was one of my favorites! I love how Ms. Laine intertwines fireflies with these characters and makes for one of the best endings I have read yet. I didn't just fall in love with Chance or Brie but I fell in love with each character from Lenny to Kelley and I even became a fan of Sawyer. I really really need Sawyer and Ashton's story though because I am dying to find out what is going on with those two! Great work Ms. Laine and congrats on this awesome new release!

5 all the feels stars!!

*ARC received in return for an honest review

Aaw, I adored this book!! I loved the first book in the series, Chasing Butterflies, but this was even better. I couldn't put it down!! Chance and Brie grabbed me from the very beginning and wouldn't leave go even after I read the last page. They have found their way into my heart.

We first met Chance & Brie in Chasing Butterflies and, although Catching Fireflies can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend you read book one first for a better understanding of all the characters and their back stories as they do cross over.

I loved Chance, he was so adorable, thoughtful and loving for those he cared about. I felt so sorry for him and what he had to cope with in his home life as he grew up, that I cried a few times for him. He made my heart hurt.
Brie was quite a strong character, the perfect soulmate for Chance. I cheered out loud when she stepped up and came to Chance's defence during a very emotional time for him.

Terri E. Laine has fast become one of my 'go-to' authors, she creates wonderful characters who fill us with so much emotion that we can't help either hating or falling in love with. I have laughed, cried and shouted my way through this book.

If you're looking for a great second chance romance read then I can definitely recommend Catching Fireflies, it's the perfect book to curl up with on these dark cold nights.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Chance and Brie met their freshman year, dated and broke up. Forward two years and Brie is best friends with Lenora and Chance with Kelley from Chasing Butterflies. I liked Chance and Brie story because it was similar to Lenora and Kelley in which both couples weren't rushed to reconnect the second time.

Chance had a rough childhood, an absentee mom and an alcoholic, depressed father. But yet he was an excellent student and athlete. Chance gave Brie all the time and space in the world until they reconnected again. I loved how Chance never let any girl overstep. Brie was the opposite of Chance, she was raised wealthy within a fa,ily of doctors and they expected the same from her. Brie at times upset me but her friendship with Lenora was beautiful. At times she was blind to things but Chance never rushed her when she was dating so,done else. Regardless, both remained friends and always looked out for the other. Chance never missed a beat with Brie which made me like him even more.

This book is just as good as the first one and I enjoyed seeing the characters here also. This book was told at the same time when Kelley and Lenora got back together so some things intertwined and then lucked up from where Lenora and Kelley were together again. I hope to read about all 4 couples future later on and I can't wait for book 3 in these beautiful series of these college students that have dealt with so much.

«Ascoltami. Vedo come ti guarda e non è come meriteresti.» Infastidita, lo aggredii.
«Cosa c'è, Chance? Non mi merito un ragazzo come lui?»
«No.»

Such a beautiful story of a second chance love! Emotional and intense, Chance and Brie love story developed, as they did, into a mature relationship with no fears and regrets.

Chance is a wonderful young man. He's adorable even!
Sexy, a football player, surrounded by women, he has a good head on his shoulders, he knows what he wants and party like the others it isn't at all what he does. He set his eyes on Brie and will do everything he can to have her.
But... there's always a but... after being betrayed in his past, he's afraid of commitment and being hurt again, so he thinks the better is to let her go.
Years later, he can't stand not being with her, so he will try everything to get her back again.

The friendship between the characters of this series is beautiful to be seen. They are a family of their own, laughing and crying together, fighting and loving each other.

I'm loving more and more Terri's books. She can bring a little angst out and play around love. The feeling you get that you are living the characters life while reading, is what I mostly love about her writing.

THIS IS A MUST READ !!!!

I wish I could rate this book more than 5* it certainly deserves it, this by far has been one of my favourite books of this year and was so sad when I read the last page I just didn't want it to end. It was such a beautiful story and I want to catch fireflies <3<3

I adored Lenny and Kelley's book and didn't think that Chance and Brie could top it, but I was wrong so very very wrong this one surpassed my expectations and took this series to a whole other level the story flowed seamlessly every page just pulled you in more and more and the feels I felt every single emotion boy did I.

This was a story of second chances and how if you just forgive your life could be forever changed for the better.
Chance and Brie were both awesome I loved them both so much and all the secondary characters were also amazing and played a huge part in the story which I loved !!!!
Now the wait is on for Ashton and Sawyer to get there s
stories told and I know there's are gonna be EPIC.

I'm a huge fan of Terri's and whatever she writes ill always be sure to read !!!!

I really, really loved this book by Terri E. Laine! Catching Fireflies is a beautiful story of second chance love.

Brie and Chance meet in college just a few weeks into their Freshman year of college. She is a smart and motivated young woman that is determined not to get thrown off task with a handsome, charming, football player like Chance. Although on the outside it appears he would be your typical jock who parties and snags any beatiful girl he wants, that couldn't be farther from the truth. He spots Brie and knows she's not like the rest of them.

They start spending time together and realize that although their backgrounds are very different, their hearts are not. I absolutely loved the relationships with all of the characters. It defined who they were as friends, actually becoming more like family as time goes on.

This is a great story of young love and tryting to figure out who you are when life can be chaotic.

Loved this story, be sure to put it on your TBR list for 2016!

RECENSIONE DI SAMUELA
VOTO: 4

Loved everything about this book. Couldn't put it down. Chance Abbot came from a poor family and an alcoholic dad who was heart broken when his wife left him. Bri Holloway is innocent and came from a family of Doctors. When these two meet it was all about trust, love and second chances. Loved all the characters and can't wait read the next story.
