It's a solid read and it's easy to understand, with a lot of stunning and disturbing pictures of murdered victims and killers.

I am really fascinated by criminology and psychology and I wanted to learn more about how these two things combine in order to find criminals and learn more about the human mind.

After watching the series "Mindhunter", I became more obsessed with the subject of psychological profiling and started searching for book related to that topic. This was the first that I found but in the end it was not exactly what I was looking for.
Don't get me wrong, though. It is a very interesting book, textbook-like, filled with fascinating murder cases (and more) and the history of profiling from its very beginning to today.
It shows how psychological profiling helped solve many cases and includes some parts of studies about serial killers.
But the book does not actually teach psychology and how to make a psychological profile of a criminal. It has some examples but not as much as I wanted to read. It's more like the history of it, which is not bad.

In the end, I took a photo of the bibliography and sources, which is very very useful if you want to learn more about this topic.

This had been a gift but I did find it a good read, some parts more interesting than others

Though what person advised to do with the polygraph machine is my standard response when people talk about lie detector tests now

read 2006.

I’ve read the Chinese version and the layout of the content is clumsy.
And it did mention a lot of cases and different profiles of criminals but I cannot understand the reasons behind (or does it mention any?).

As someone who has studied Criminology and forensic psychology, I found this book really interesting. I love how it delves into how the FBI operate. There is a lot of references to criminological and psychological techniques in profiling offenders

So freaking interesting. I loved it, there were so many clues tools and cases that made sense after reading about them in this book. Definitely a fun book for learning

I don't know if it was the translation (I guess it was, in about 70%) but this book was really not well written... First of all, there were sentences following one another that just did not make sense - just missing information I guess? And also I feel like the writer is keeping the big secrets to himself. He writes that someone delivered a profile that the killer is, for example blond, between 25-30, and has a German shepherd. But he does not explain why did the person who came up with the profile think these. Like, I guess the German shepherd information came from a dog hair found on one of the victims, but why does the book not explain this? I bought it for the big secrets, and this was a bit disappointing.
Also, it is no fault of the writer, but the Hungarian translation was just so, so bad...

My fascination with the criminal mind may actually be starting to worry me.

Interesting textbook-like book filled with fascinating cases and the history of profiling. It was almost like a behind the scenes with Criminal Minds the TV show except no nerdy Spencer Reid, yummy-looking Derek Morgan or quirky Penelope Garcia.

It gives details about murder cases and how psychological profiling helped solve those cases. I liked the case studies about serial murders. The book does not actually teach psychology, but i learn many things, and i like books where i learn a lot.

This is a good reference for the lay person--not overly detailed, but a fairly comprehensive overview of criminal profiling. Lots of examples.
