Having escaped the lab where they were altered with alien DNA, Vaughn Coleman and his fellow super-soldiers answer an ad for a ship capable of getting them far from the prison planet they’ve just fled. Meshach Larsen, autocrat of a notorious isolationist planet, is willing to accept payment in services rendered, rather than credits.
The job? Find and return a mysterious crate that was stolen during shipping. But their mission is complicated minutes after accepting the job when Vaughn finds a beautiful, sheltered stowaway on their already crowded short-range shuttle.
Grace can’t remember how she got from the secluded convent where she was raised to the planet Gebose, where women aren’t to be seen or heard. Where she will soon be forced into service as a concubine. All she knows for sure is that the shuttle leaving to run an errand for Meshach offers her best chance at escape.
But Grace has no way of knowing that the man who discovers her onboard isn’t exactly human. That alien urges and instincts Vaughn can’t quite control—collectively known as his beast—are insisting she is his mate. That he must claim, love, and defend her at any cost. Even if protecting her from Meshach means sacrificing the crew’s best chance to settle their vendetta with the ruthless corporation that turned them into monsters.

Sci-fi romance author Emmy Chandler likes tee-shirts and lattes. She firmly believes every woman deserves an arm chair in front of the window, near an outlet close enough to power a mug warmer and charge an e-reader. Her perfect afternoon includes cold weather, thick blankets, warm soup, and a good book.

ABOUT THE PRISON PLANET SERIES:
Rhodon. The Red Rock. Devil’s Eye.
Whatever you want to call it, Universal Authority’s most profitable prison planet is home to more than four million criminals. Convicted murderers await execution. Everyone else gets life—and eventually death—in the open population.
With no guards on the ground and no way off the planet, it’s every inmate for him- or herself…

Vendetta de Emmy Chandler Serie The Project Vetus libro 2
Argumento:
What a ride!!! I have wanted this book since the first book Escape released, and it was worth the waiting. The cover is gorgeous and the story has a lot of surprises, I was creating theories about the heroine but what a surprise Emmy had prepare for us! The ending was the perfect conclusion for our couple and the introduction to the next book. Let me tell you I can't wait to read the next one I was turning the pages with the hope of get more of this fantastic world. 5-give me your beast anytime-stars
I wish this series were more about the back story with UA and less of the awkward sex scenes and insta love. I think if she went and rewrote this as Si-Fi she would have a stellar series on her hands that would appeal to a whole lot more people. As it stands it’s decent enough brain candy but it’s really not near it’s top potential. I tend to skip through the horrible sex scenes (worse than 50 Shades) and find myself super interested in the fight against the UA. Are you kidding me? There are so many relevant issues addressed (human rights, private for profit prisons, GMOs, ect..) this series really could be so so much more! If it weren’t for the fight against the UA I would’ve stopped reading. Some of it truly is torture. If you like a romance story with zero substance go for it.
I wanted to like Vendetta, especially since the first book in this spin-off series was such a huge disappointment for me, but that didn't happen. It was so bland and predictable and on top of that, heroine was so boring. Well, not so much after I started picturing her as Bender from Futurama while she was talking.
Dang this author is a genius. I knew it! I guessed the twist but it was still awesome! I had to make myself not flip to the ending to see if I was right. I FLOVE this series! It left so much open for the future! This has me hype!! I’m ready for the next one! I’m officially out of my book slump! This was perfect, suspense, angst, and discovery! I can’t say enough about this author’s creativity and her world building. She brought the planets visited to life. I loved our hero Vaughn who stood out in book 1. Each soldier has special skills that are slowly revealed. I love Grace who is smart, beautiful with a little innocence and purity. She is a great addition to the group. I sure have some theories about Tirzah, Jamison and Lawrence. There is a truly evil, bad guy who makes your skin crawl. I highly recommend this series, I am salivating for the next portion of this series.
WARNING - ENTIRE PLOT SUMMARY AHEAD (used for me to keep track of series events) REALLY - DON'T READ THIS; IT SUMMARIZES BOOK.
Crew figures out that Grace's memories must be implanted.
After escape, G wants to have sex with Vaughn, so that she isn't a virgin, ruining her for her new owner. V agrees if she'll be his forever. G lies, she is scared of danger to the crew if she stays with them. Eventually is all in on the mating, convinced that special abilities crew has can keep them from danger.
G told crew she was from planet Theron; they figure out that Theron is a lab company owned by UA. Trace Theron to planet where company has been destroyed. Raided by cops, stuff destroyed by fleeing lab workers. Surviving janitor had missing crate; it contains another Grace. Turns out that G and H aren't even clones, they are created from DNA so that company can argue that they're not human and laws against cloning don't apply.
Crew also finds nanotech uniforms that fit them. Figure out that "clones" of them are the technology that UA is working on. The girl clones are just practice.
They obviously won't turn crate with Hannah over. Set up scheme to get their new ship with staged fake delivery of Hannah. Get away.
Epilogue - Crew had kept unmated males from seeing Hannah, worried what might happen. Once they are on new ship, Zamora sees her. "Mine." Fights everyone to get at her.

Another great book in the Project Vetus series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but would be more enjoyable after reading the first book.
I was laughing within the first few pages at the humor. There are some great moments with the secondary characters.
Vaughn Coleman is alpha and possessive, but sweet with Grace. He can’t resist what he feels for her, but tries to give her time to accept him and choose him too.
Grace has a mysterious past that I loved watching unfold throughout the story.
I look forward to reading future books in the series, especially the next one about Zamora.
This review is based on an ARC. It is given voluntarily and contains only my honest opinions.
Color me shocked! I decided to read this book, even though I was less than impressed with the first book (Escape). I loved Carson from the first book but couldn't stand Lilli. We never even got the impression that she even liked Carson.
But in this story, you can clearly see that Vaughn and Grace like each other. This story does a good job at balancing plot and the love story. It was interesting to learn more about Grace. Some parts were a little goofy or silly. But I still enjoyed the book.
Where Escape didn't do much for plot, Vendetta did. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
I am a fan of this series and expected to like this book as well as the others and it didn't disappoint. It's fast paced and I love the interaction among the team members. They have a friendship and banter that I love. I was very drawn to Vaughn and Grace's story. They were awesome together and following their journey throughout the book was very exciting and emotional. I loved the suspense of the ending and the lead in to the next book with Zamora and Hannah or perhaps Jamison and Dryer.
I love this book! The writing is excellent, the story builds and builds as we / they try to figure out what is happening and why. Grace is quite a gem - a mystery, but she has a delightful personality, and she’s strong in the face of adversity. A fitting mate for an elite, weaponized super soldier. As for Vaughn’s inner beast - I really like his advise. Not bad at all! I get a kick out of Vaughn’s quotes. I’m already eager to read the next story in the Project Vetus series!
I SORT OF ENJOYED SOTELO AND LILLI'S STORY BUT ONCE AGAIN THE AUTHOR USED THE STUPID HERONE DOESN'T WANT A BABY TROUPE, AND I JUST CHUCKED THIS AWAY.
Secondly, the plot this time around was dull. Nothing gripped me. The MCs inspired nothing in me, their chemistry lacked fire. It was just sex and almost insta-love...boring! Where's the challenge?
Ms Chandler’s second book of this series is quite as good as the first. I enjoyed the twists and turns the characters faced and was nicely surprised by the ending. So looking forward to the next story.
This was a fun book. Kinda needed to read the first book but I caught on to what was happening. The characters are interesting & intriguing. I thoroughly enjoyed this story & look forward to the next book.
If you haven't read the prison planet series you really need to do that . It is a fascinating and well written series which leads into this series and explains a lot. I hope we don't have to wait to long for Hannah's story.
I just love Emmy's books. Her prison planet series was great and now this series. Love!! Vaughn is strong and philosophical. Grace is clever and determined. The twist art the end, omg!!! Cannot wait for the next one!!
While there were lots of plot points I saw coming a mile away, I found myself actually smiling with my actual face several times, especially at the climax of the action. That doesn’t happen often, and I thought it was worth mentioning.
This is the second book in this series which is a spin off of the prison planet series! Honestly every book in these series are so good you need to read them
In a lot of these books you catch yourself scanning the story to get to the hot parts.. not so with this series. The story is as good as the sex scenes!!
Another one that was just a bit of a nope from me. I don't think I like the project vetus storyline despite liking Emmy's writing. There are also just a lot of characters to figure out and I don't like that. I'm lazy, what can I say.
Obrigada por fazer seus livros com carinho. As histórias são inteligentes e divertidas. Bem escritas e com estruturas. Não costumo escrever resenhas porque meu inglês não é bom para descrever os livros. Em português (BR) me expresso melhor. Continua escrevendo, estou ansiosa pela próximo.
Someone on Twitter recommended this author’s Prison Planet series last year (I think it was Has from the Bookpushers) and I ate that series up with a spoon and kept coming back for more. This is the second book in her spin-off series which features a group of soldiers who have been experimented on, spliced with alien DNA and turned into super soldiers.
Vaughn and his crew have escaped the prison planet and are now trying to find a ship big enough to fit everyone comfortably. Their search leads them to a backwards planet, filled with backwards, chauvinistic assholes who have a ship but are only willing to trade it for a crate that disappeared some months back. After agreeing to the exchange our crew heads out into space to begin their mission. Which is when they find Grace hiding in the cargo hold and Vaughn decides that she is his.
As much as I enjoyed the Prison Planet series (I really, really did), I think I enjoy Project Vetus even more. I loved getting off planet and finding out what else this universe has to offer. I loved seeing how this crew interacts with each other and how they handle their ‘beasts’. I enjoyed this couple immensely and HOO BOY were they smoking hot together. Vaughn might have been all growly “mineminemine” but, he was also just the right amount of hands off and respectful of Grace’s boundaries. AND THAT ENDING. Why? Throwing that out there and then making us wait for book three? Mean.
This is a great author for fans of sci-fi romance.
